Location: Library - Avenger's Mansion
Synopsis: Professor Xavier talks to Wanda about Sentinels and her family
Cast of Characters: Scarlet Witch, Professor X
Tinyplot: Sentinels

Scarlet Witch has posed:
Wanda is down in the Library today. The entrance to it is open, and would be on the path that someone leaving the Mansion might take as they were leaving the building. She appears to be focused on a project of some sort. A number of books, rather large, dusty domes are set about her.

Wanda takes some tracing paper, laying it over an exceptionally large book and slowing tracing some of the contents before removing the thin paper and laying it on the desk to check the results. Some sort of summoning circle perhaps, rather intricate in detail. She frowns as she looks it over, as if deciphering the mystic sigils that she traced where they line the edges.

Professor X has posed:
Charles wheels himself slowly down the corridor from the veranda, having just said goodbye to Janet. He has a thoughtful expression on his face but his attention is caught by the felt presence of an extremely powerful mutant nearby. He turns left into an adjoining hallway and comes across the open library door and Wanda beyond. Charles watches Wanda for just a moment as sets about studying the material in front of her. The wheels of his chair squeak slightly as he turns and comes into the library.

"Am I interrupting?" he asks politely, his face a study in openeness and curiousity.

Scarlet Witch has posed:
The Eastern European young woman looks up at the squeak. A warm smile comes to her face as she sees the cause and she's already rising by the time that Professor Xavier is speaking. Wanda walks over towards him, wearing a skirt and boots, and a long sleeve knit shirt. "Seeing you is never an interruption," she tells him in a warm tone. Wanda's English still has a slight, soft accent.

"Just doing a little research. I hadn't realized you were in the building," she tells him as she stops before him, hands resting on her hips as she takes in the sight of him. "You look... healthy and hale," she proclaims as she reaches out, offering both of her hands to one of his to take in greeting.

Professor X has posed:
Charles squeezes Wanda's hands and his face softens with a bright smile. "Thank you," he says to her. "May I join?" he asks, wheeling to her table. "I came to visit Ms. van Dyne when I noticed you were here. I couldn't leave without coming to see how you were doing."

Charles glances around the room.

"You seem well-stocked here. How are you finding settling in here? I've worried about you. You have seen a lot of change and challenge in a short time."

Scarlet Witch has posed:
Wanda squeezes Charles' hand back before letting go and walking with him back over to the table. "Of course, please come and join me," she tells him. Wanda pulls a chair aside to make more room for her guest, and then moves over to retake her seat, though turned to face him so they are sitting at the same level. "I am glad that you did. It is too long since we have spoken," Wanda tells him. "I would have come by the school to say hello, but I am never quite sure how welcome of a visitor I would be. I imagine there are those who primarily remember some of the aid I gave my father in the old days," Wanda says. Her words are spoken slowly, each thoughtful and deliberate, her accent light enough to be pleasing to the ears. "I have found my time with the Avengers to be very rewarding. But yes. So much is transpiring in such a short time," Wanda says, giving a sigh and shake of her head.

Professor X has posed:
Charles nods, his expression empathetic as Wanda shakes her head. "Wanda, you are always welcome at the school. Everyone has decisions they regret, but we all change and grow. Look at Logan! Besides, it would be good for the others to see how you've grown. And for you to see them. I don't think people are as unforgiving as you might assume. You did what you thought was right at the time," Charles says. "And have done so much since. You should be proud of who you are."

"Are you overwhelmed or troubled?" Charles asks with a slight tilt of his head. "I'm afraid I don't know you well enough to tell yet."

Scarlet Witch has posed:
The young woman gives Charles a soft smile of gratitude. "Thank you. I will have to stop by. But I thought it best to be an invitation, should it happen, rather than dropping in," Wanda tells him. She crosses a leg over the other, lacing her fingers over her knee atop her skirt as she says, "I understand Lorna has been around there a lot as well? I really do need to see her. We should be closer than we are. I would like it if we were, at least," Wanday says."

She shakes her head then and says, "I have had a few rough times. But most I am doing well. Losing Janet was rough. The Avengers are a family to me. But she is back now, and safe."

Professor X has posed:
"All of you lead dangerous lives," Charles concedes. "But you are an inspiration to all of us. I'm grateful for what you do."

Charles turns his attention toward Wanda's books, touching them as he looks at the titles. "Lorna is doing well, but things are not easy for her. I think she feels caught between two sets of expectations. I'm sure you understand," he says. "She is investigating the Sentinels, including the one you have here. Delicate and dangerous work, but she will manage. Whether or not she thinks she will. She has such potential, she has barely begun to show her character and drive. I see a lot of Erik in her, the best of him."

Scarlet Witch has posed:
Almost none of Wanda's books she's been working from have the sort of titles that one would find in a bookstore. Except for a pair of books about myths and folklore. The rest are grimoires, several with less titles than markings, and other than the two on myths they look like they are at least decades old, if not older. "Investigating a protection spell. One that I hope would be useful should the Sentinels grow more aggressive," Wanda says in her normal slow, deliberate delivery of words, answer the unasked question.

"I am very proud of her," Wanda agrees of Lorna, and giving a smile that shows it. "Things are not easy for her. Our father is not always the easiest to work with. I do hope she has managed to not be subsumed by his cult of personality to fully. I think I should probably have been there for her more, in that regard."

Professor X has posed:
"Lorna is very much her own woman," Charles assures Wanda with an amused smile. "I don't think she is in any danger of being subsumed by anyone. Whatever did or didn't happen, she might appreciate having you there now. It's so hard to find people we can trust and who understand us. They're precious."

Charles sets down the book he was looking at and turns his attention back to Wanda. He idly smooths the front of his blue suit jacket as he leans back a bit.

"Protection spells? I wish I understood more about magic," Charles says with a shake of his head. "I don't doubt they will be useful... I have a feeling things will get worse before they get better. These weapons are so dangerous, especially designed by a man like Trask. People are scared. I'm not sure if you follow the news, but one of my non-profits is suing to try and stop the Sentinel program. At least temporarily. Something needs to be done before it gets out of control and others start to react."

Scarlet Witch has posed:
"I did notice that," Wanda shares at the mention of his non-profit. "I heard something about a lecture in Dallas as well? Think it was just a random happening, or Trask trying to cut into your influence?" she inquires quietly. "I do believe that avenues like that need to be pursued. No matter what Trask's view on mutants, if no one is buying his Sentinels that means far less for us to worry about," she tells Charles. "If there is anything I can do to help, please know that you may always reach out to me, Charles," she tells him.

Professor X has posed:
"I think it is just a sign of the times and the mood. We have a lot of work to do still building acceptance," Charles sighs but then smiles. "But I may take you up on your offer, and please, my door is always open for you. Come visit us at the school anytime. I think Ms. van Dyne and Captain America are even planning a visit. For now, I should let you get back to your books and get to my car before my little security tag expires and they throw me out!"
