And We're Just Floating...
Date of Scene: 19 May 2019
Location: Breakstone Lake - Xavier's School
Synopsis: Rogue, Ororo and Kitty enjoy a warm day at the lake
Cast of Characters: Shadowcat, Rogue, Storm

Shadowcat has posed:
A beautiful day, and warm for this time of year. If the weather man was to be believed, the temperature would climb into the high 80s. Something to do with a thermal inversion over Pittsburgh. Or maybe it was a low pressure trough down in Maryland. Whatever the details, the weather report to Kitty translated to, "Float on the Lake".

And so there was a scramble down to Westchester to pick up new inflatable stuff for the water. Because that stuff never seems to survive the winter intact. An air compressor in the boathouse was employed, and soon the ladies' choices of the best aquatic lounges that can be inflated with air were ready to go in the Lake.

Kitty comes out rocking her tiniest bikini, having spread suntan lotion on. "I am going back to Gotham with a tan," she declares. "Or, horribly burned. One or the other. This, I vow!" She checks back to see if Rogue has the beverages as she loads up a cup into each inflatable vessel's cup holder, then slips into the water and climbs up into hers. It can either be used lying down, or sitting up as it has a chair back to it. For now she sits in it like a chair, floating and waiting for Rogue to get ready.

Rogue has posed:
Rogue is wearing a green bikini top with yellow strings that tie at the front and up behind her neck. Her hair is done up into a brown bun on the crown of her head and her lower body is encased in a pair of cut off jean shorts that go up past the tops of her thighs and reveal a decent amount of the back of her backside to anyone who is graced with the chance to look back there. She's also sporting a pair of large brown and black designer sunglases that rest over her eyes and her eyes are on Kitty on their way out, slugging the floatable cooler with their drinks and other sundries inside of it. She doesn't need sunscreen, Rogue's skin can't tan. Its perpetually stuck at the same tone of which she was that summer when she'd absorbed Ms Marvel and since she'd been in California for a week or so? She was sporting a pretty good tan when her skin had become nearly invulnerable that fateful day in San Fran.

"You're gonna be breakin' hearts in that damn micro bikini, Prydeful." She says to her friend as they make their way out to the waters. She lets Kitty setup their floaties and once its ready she drifts out and onto her own, able to cheat with her flight ability.

Rogue ends up on her back on her floaty chair, head back and the sun shining down on her body. She may be mostly impervious to damage even from the sun's rays, but the warmth? It still feels great on her form. "Storm's gonna be mad we didn't invite her, ya know?" She says then.

Shadowcat has posed:
Kitty has her sunglasses up on the top of her head so she doesn't end up with raccoon eyes when the tan comes in. "I never wear this thing out with other people," she says of the white string bikini. "But it's good for not having too much tan line for anything else I wear." It's not a micro bikini at that, just a little skimpier than what the good Jewish girl would normally wear in a public setting.

She takes a sip of the margarita and sighs, the cool refreshment perfect combined with the water to moderate the warm sun and air. "Think she'd come down and not get upset at the margaritas?" Kitty asks. "I was 19 last time I tried to have a drink around her," she says, and gives a soft laugh as she remembers the outcome that time. "I admit though I got used to being able to just pop down to the pub whenever I wanted. Not that I really drank all that much anyway," Kitty says.

She looks over to Lockheed, who is just headbutting a small floatie into the water for himself, then pulls out her phone. Waterproof of course. She holds it up to snap a selfie that gets both Rogue and herself in it and then adds the message, "Wish you were here. So... really. Come here!" along with appropriate hearts and smiley faces, and sends it off.

Rogue has posed:
Rogue happily poses by holding up her drink for the selfie pic, a large grin on her lips for the photo to be taken and she'll definitely refer to Kitty's bikini as micro, just to tease her friend endlessly. The southern belle then looks to Lockheed nosing his own floaty out to get onto it. "God he's unbearably cute." She says then before she raises her drink up for another sip from it. A heavy sigh is had then and she drops her head back to just lay there and relax.

"I feel bad." She says then to Kitty. "I haven't gone t'see the Professah yet. Partially cause I was told he was okay and partialy cause I hate visiting people in hospital settings. It always feels awkward... I need t'peak in on him though... Gotta."

She turns her head to look at Kitty. "Mosta the people over 21 here will let ya drink, so long as you do it around them in a controlled enviroment. So I've discovered at least. Maybe its just my charmin' personality though." More grinning, naturally. "Course, these outfits might work too. Least on the male ones."

Shadowcat has posed:
Kitty Pryde lets out a soft laugh and says, "I think just everyone forgets how young you are because you have that whole Southern sophistication thing going on." She watches as Lockheed manages to get onto the floatie but it just wants to sit there against shore. He flaps his wings a few times while holding onto it to propel himself out towards where the two ladies are floating. "He /is/ adorable isn't he?" Kitty says with a smile. Lockheed gives a pleased look and the flops over on his back, legs splayed to let the sun on his belly.

"I wonder what his planet is like?" Kitty muses as she paddles with her hands two or three times until she can reach the dragon, reaching out to rub his exposed belly. She relaxes back in her chair again then, taking a sip of the margarita. "So how are things going with your dad? Do you have any more outings together planned?" she asks.

Rogue has posed:
Rogue's got her head turned to stare at the dragon trying to get out to them to relax with the two of them, its just too damn adorable not to watch at and internally melt over. She grins too at what Kitty says as to the nature of her southern charm. "I think some'a that comes from all the people I've touched who're a bit older than me, I've... I dunno, changed, from how I was even just a handful'a years ago. I used t'be pretty quiet back when I first fell in with Mystique. At least in large crowds... now? I dunno... I feel like I need'ta make quiet people feel comfortable, so I try to turn on the charm, if I'm able. Loosen people up... make'em squirm, or just feel, better?"

Rogue takes another sip of her drink then and watches her friend pet the purple dragon. She then looks skyward again and closes her eyes behind her sunglasses... she doesn't fear the 'raccoon eyes' for the same reason she doesn't fear tan lines anywhere on her body.

"I went bowlin' with him Friday night. Its one'a his favorite things, or it used t'be anyhow." She then shakes her head side to side. "He said our next change t'get in t'find mom will be... June? 21st? Whenever the longest day'a the year is. Thats when the next portals will open up, and they're gonna open up in Scranton Pennsylvania of all places, accordin' to his notes... they got some food warehouses there that some'a there people her eon the outside are loadin' up with food and water."

Another sip of her drink is taken before she flops her head back again and rests her drink on the top of her chest above her bikini top and just below her collarbone. "I offered t'have us all scout them out, but he said if we spooked'em, they'd bugger off and warn their people."

Storm has posed:
There's no warning before a silver-clad projectile slams into the lake between Rogue and Kitty. Water flies everywhere as if someone threw a rock at the lake from a mile up and it sends waves around to buffet the two women. The water settles and heavy white hair peaks out of the water as Ororo resurfaces. The erudite, utterly poised woman-- arguably the spiritual Queen of Africa-- rotates in place, doing a crocodile impression with her eyes, and then rises to stand in the thigh-deep water. She sports a white single-piece bikini which forms almost a diamond shape around her body but has numerous cutouts up and down her ribs and one that exposes most of her belly. In the back, intricately criss-crossing straps hold it in place.

She gives the drinks a severe look, one they both know well. Lips pressed out, brows flat, the corners of her mouth turned down.

"You saved me some of that, I assume," she says, and points at the drink in Kitty's hand.

Shadowcat has posed:
Kitty grins at the mention of Rogue's father bowling. "So the leaf didn't fall far from the tree at all," she says, flashing a grin over to the Mississippi belle. "Well, we'll be ready when it's time. Whatever we need to do to free them," Kitty says. "If you'd like I can ask Jason if he'd like to come with-"

Kitty's offer is interrupted by the sploosh of water that erupts over both ladies and the dragon. "Great Jehosephat!" she exclaims as she sits up in her chair, wiping water from her face. When she sees who it is, Kitty breaks out laughing. "I'm so tempted to make a Blob reference now after the size of that splash," Kitty teases. She glances up above them. "How high up were you?"

Lockheed splutters, his little float overturned by the wave. He flaps a few times to lift himself out of the water and get back onto his little pet-sized inflatable raft. Kitty grins and says, "WE've got a pitcher of them over there in the cooler. And there's another inflatable lounger in the boathouse."

Rogue has posed:
The sudden splash goes UP and comes DOWN across Anna-Marie's lounging body. She puts one hand over her drink the second she heard the water get splashed, and it all just rains down upon her, spattering against her skin, her clothes, her hair and her sunglasses....

She just grins.

"Hi, Stormy." Rogue says then, turning her head and raising a hand up to move her shades up onto her forehead, now blinking her green eyes at the woman rising up out of the water. "You always make the best entrances. "One might say that ya really know how t'make a splash. A--a-aaa-huh huh!" She jokey joke laughs at her own dumb joke.

Rogue then looks over to see the Dragon flailing wings to get back onto his floaty. "Poor fella..." She comments. "Stuck out here with us challengin' the very sun above in who's hottest." She raises her shielded drink up and takes her hand off of it, to sip from it again.

"Ya can bring it up with Jason, but I'm not sure he'd be down for it. It sounds... honestly, like something I'm not even sure the X-Men are up for. To be realistic, I think it might be out of our league t'fix... I'm not sure we can save her, or the others there-in that place."

Storm has posed:
"Less than ten meters," Ororo assures Kitty in that mellifluous alto. She wades past Rogue and squeezes the belle's calf in greeting as she passes. "And you-- do not ever change," she remarks, and gives the back of her calf a quick squeeze in greeting. She walks out of the water and squeeezes the lake from her tiny hair plaits, then tosses it back over her shoulder again. The woman busies herself with pouring a drink into a glass, and then retrieves the third pool floater and returns to the laekshore.

Ororo carefully lands on the floaty and floats towards the other women, drink in hand and sunglasses on her face. "What are we discussing?" Ororo asks, and rests her feet near Anna-Marie's on the brunette's raft, so they dont drift apart while chatting.

Shadowcat has posed:
Kitty Pryde gets a refill of her glass from the cooler before pushing back off out into the lake. "We were talking about trying to free AM's mother, and the people... well I don't know if 'being held there' is the right word. At least help them realize what they've been drawn into," Kitty says.

She looks over to Rogue and says, "It might be a tough one. But you know we'll have your back." Kitty uses her hands to paddle back out a few more feet from sure, the turns herself to face the sun better. "It would be good to bring Illyana, so we have a way out," she suggests.

Lockheed has settled back in. He's lying there all legs pointed up in the air and splayed out. He might as well be dead now he's soaking in the sun.

Rogue has posed:
Rogue has her head back on the floaty and her eyelids are closed as she listens to the other two chat. She does look up when she feels Storm's hand on her leg and she raises her brows, then glances from leg to Storm, then back to leg. "Am I broken?" She asks aloud then, before she looks over to Lockheed who's OUT like a lizard on a sun baked rock which makes her openly laugh for a second.

A following huff of air then makes her take another sip of her drink and she does the same as Storm, feet on the other's floaty to keep them from drifting away.

"I just think they got an army inside their little... whatever. Based on what Dad has told me." Its still odd for her to talk about her father with such a presence, 'Dad' is a weird word for her to use, like she doesn't deserve to be using it, or doesn't have the right to call anyone that.

"We'll see, I guess. But I think we'll need all the help we can get. Course, the more people go in with us, the harder it'll be t'hide from'em. So I'm told."

Storm has posed:
"It's... refresh my memory," Ororo says, apogetically. "Is it one of those groups of old men and young boys? Who go into the woods, and shoot the plastic pellets at each other?" she inquires. The white-haired woman rolls onto her side so she can face Kitty and Rogue. Her drink's kept balanced on white-painted fingertips and she props her head on her elbow and palm for support. "But of course, you know we will help you, Anna-MArie. However we can," she says, trying to sonud as sincere as possible.

Shadowcat has posed:
Kitty tells Ororo there's a lot more to it, though the African woman goes off to make another pitcher of margaritas, the explanation being saved for another time. "Small group then? We'll want to be dressed to fit in when we go. As self-sufficient as we can be. Image inducers a good idea too," Kitty says, already planning a bit.

Though she trails off after a bit. Just relaxing and letting the sun warm her skin. Lockheed looks so adorably out of it, the only way he could get cuter was if he was drooling, too. Kitty picks up her glass and holds it over towards Rogue to offer a little toast. "Here's to my best roomie ever. And to getting your family back together," she says.

Rogue has posed:
Rogue sits up as Storm makes her departure and she then lowers her sunglasses back down over her eyes and looks over to Lockheed again. "Image things, yeah... so we can have our own stuff on. Idealy." She states, whilst she floats up into the air and slowly spins over until she's facing stomach down, then lowers back down onto the floaty on her stomach with her arms up to lay her face down against. As she floats past the Dragon she reaches over to tickle the bottom of one of his upraised feet.

A moment or so later and she's on a floaty course to pass by Kitty to which she raises her own glass up to smile at her and clink them together. "To the best friend, and the best dragon a girl could ever ask for as backup." The southern gal replies before she leans back on her side to take another sip, then flops forward again and makes a very pleasant and happy noise to express her feelings about this relaxing afternoon!

Shadowcat has posed:
Lockheed gives a little stir at the tickle and makes the cutest little squeaky noise. Kitty has claimed he can speak, and English even, but no one else has ever confirmed hearing anything out of him. Kitty smiles and then slides down lower, the chairs long enough to lie on flat without using the chair back part.

Birds fly overhead, wheeling in the blue sky, with only the lightest of breezes to help keep them aloft. Kitty glances upwards and watches the birds flying about. "Gave Lockheed a raven image for his inducer. So when Blackbird is roaming Gotham, she can have her trusty Raven, Lucky, along with her," she says with a soft chuckle. "Fire-breathing raven, at that." Kitty wiggles her toes. "Got a new science teacher who started up. From the Justice League, in disguise. John Green he's going by."

Rogue has posed:
Rogue just softly laugh at the noise from the dragon and the words from its Person in Kitty form. "Thats probably a lil' less weird than a flyin' cat for folks t'see." She comments then as she turns her head to look over at her friend with a pleased smile present upon her lips that she's wearing a violet-pink shade of lipstick on today, a color wonderfully advertised as 'Snozzberry' which pleases her to no end.

"Why not just let him be a dragon?" She asks then, not really ever having tackled that topic before. "I mean, he's more intimidatin' in that form. Maybe... ya know, not the purple part. Could make him all-black, or give him flame decals along his stomach?" Now she's just goofing around, clearly!

"I guess its for his protection or something? His own secret identity." She pauses then. "Oooh, give him a mask! Like the Hamburglar!" After exclaiming that she drops her right hand down into the water to lightly splash it around and feel the temperature of the lake.

Shadowcat has posed:
Kitty Pryde breaks out in soft laughter. It starts as small little chuckles, but as Kitty's imagine starts supplying images to Rogue's words, it starts to grow. Her flat belly starts to shake with the laughter, until finally it causes Lockheed to stir, lifting his head and opening one eye to glance over at the brunette with what could only be called a specious look.

"Oh, maybe we could come up with something interesting. Maybe model him after one of Illyana's demons," Kitty says, still laughing. "I just want to avoid too many connections between the phasing Gotham hero and... well, hopefully no one knows about Shadowcat. But best to assume they do," she says. She's still giggling quietly though.

"You would look great with a fiery racing stripe," she tells the dragon. He just gives a little snort that comes out as smoke and then flips over on his side. Of /course/ he'd look great with a racing stripe. He looks great regardless!

Rogue has posed:
Rogue just grins at the antics of Kitty and the Dragon. "I don't think he's warmin' up t'this idea, Kitniss." She says, bringing out her Hunger Games title for Kitty. She continues to lightly stroke her hand around in the water, making little splashes with it here and there while she leans her head up and takes another sip of her drink, the lays it back down again.

"One thing I'm thankful for is I can fall asleep out here and not wake up cooked like a Thanksgivin' turkey. Its litlte stuff like that that helps me realize that my mutation... sure... keeps me from havin' much physical fun, but at least... I can truly bake in the sun and not fret on it much."

Another relief-filled exhale is released from the Belle's body and she moves her wet lake-watered hand up to her sunglasses, she peers at the shore and then looks over to Kitty. "I think we're bein' spied on. Hambone'n his crew, out past the tree line." She mutters to Kitty. "Pervin' it up early on this early summah day."

Shadowcat has posed:
Kitty lifts her head from where it's reclining back on the floating cushion. "Oh great and I was just going to roll over too," she says with a groan. Though the young woman has reached the point of having enough curves that lying on her back does not leave her without particular appeal even to teenage boys used to being around so many fit teachers and faculty as the school possesses.

"Screw it," Kitty says, rolling over onto her stomach. Though she does paddle with her hands to turn her floating lounge chair around so the back will likely disrupt the view. "Well, I do enjoy having a tan. I feel for people like Carrie who just have pale, and burn as their two options. And if it helps you to feel better, Anna-Marie? I'm still so envious of you flying. God that must be awesome. I mean, being able to walk on air is pretty cool too, but it's work to go very far at all like that. And Lockheed can carry me, but that's a short distance thing really," she adds.

Rogue has posed:
Rogue laughs softly and does the exact opposite of Carrie, she turns her floaty chair around so her backside is aimed right at the boys off in the woods. She looks over to Kitty then, they both facing opposite directions. "Let'em gaze on what they can't have." She replies then, being the eternal flirt that she is, she's bound to make anyone she can feel the reaction of seeing her flirty ways.

Rogue reaches out for a treat from the cooler then and she picks up a cold strawberry then reaches over to set it on the side of the slumbering dragon, letting it roll down his shoulder toward his neck! "Racing Stripes is your knew team callsign." She tells the dragon before grinning up to Kitty again.
