Cast of Characters: Superman, Supergirl
Tinyplot: Age of Despair

Superman has posed:
The Fortress of Solitude was quiet today. The eerie sound of the wind seems to add to the ghostly, frozen atmosphere of the Fortress, with that the only sound that anyone could hear. A whirring sound can be heard now, under the sounds of the wind. Kelex was cleaning a statue towards the back of the Fortress, the statue of Jor El. Kelex was always busy doing odd chores and keeping the place habitable, awaiting his master or mistresses arrival. Perhaps here, in the archives, something could be discovered about the state of Kal El, or where he had been taken. Some clue as to how to solve this mystery.

Supergirl has posed:
Things had gone from bad to worse. Supergirl had lost Superman. Again. To say she was beside herself was a bit of an understatement. While the mystics were doing their part to try to track him down, she had to do hers as well. On top of trying to keep Metropolis safe and hide the fact that Superman was missing as best she could. People were starting to catch on though and she feared that would mean villains acting out in Metropolis soon, thinking they could get away with it. Not to mention the civilians being more afraid without their protector.

She entered the Fortress, letting it close up behind her and flying rapidly to the small podium like control panel where she would be able to access the archives and data crystals. "Rao, please let there be something here..."

Superman has posed:
"Mistress!" Rang out the hollow, electronic voice of Kelex as he notices the arrival of Kara, Supergirl. "It is pleasing to see you. What brings you to the Fortress of Solitude on a cold, dreary day here in the frozen wasteland of this continent?" The robot "manservant" floats down towards with with a strange whirring sound, the sound you were all too familiar with."

Watching as Kara looks down at the console, Kelex says, "Are you looking for anything in particular? Perhaps I could be of some assistance finding the right data crystal for you? You seem...troubled. Is everything alright, Mistress?"

Supergirl has posed:
"Hello, Kelex," Supergirl says belatedly, realizing she was being rude. Certainly Kelex wasn't a 'person' yet he still deserved the same respect anyone did. "I'm sorry, yes. I am very troubled."

She pushes her hair back from her head then looks over at the robot. "Superman has been taken. Possessed by some sort of entity and taken away. We assume to Apokolips where this all started but we need to try and track him down to a closer location. And see if we can figure out what has hold on him. I have to help him."

Superman has posed:
"That is terrible news, Mistress!" Kelex says, as his processor tried to register what she was telling "him". "I will endeavour to be as helpful as possible then, anything for Master Kal El. Let us see..." Maneuvering towards the crystals, Kelex uses his mechanical appendage, and points to a deep blue crystal.

"Perhaps this one, Mistress Kara. All that Master Jor El collected on the race of "New Gods" including a treatese on Yuga Khan and Heggra, the rulers of Apokolips and their son Uxas, who became Darkseid. Possession though. I do not believe there is many indicators in that text about a New God that could possess others."

Floating there for a short pause, Kelex continues, "There was one newer entity, a servant of Darkseid known as Desaad who may have been able to control a Kryptonian chemically, but not one fully charged with the light of Sol. There is also a footnote that states another New God entity named "Doctor Bedlam" may possess incalculable psionic abilties, including control of minds."

Supergirl has posed:
"This entity seems very powerful," Supergirl says as she walks over to take the first crystal offered by Kelex as a possibility. "Is all the information on those others on this same crystal? If not, I want the information Doctor Bedlam as well as Desaad. When they had Superman on originally, they had taken his blood or something. So that could offer a physical link."

She takes the crystal to the console, inserting it into the spot and setting it to play as she muses softly, "I wonder if they found a way to combine the two? Chemical and psionic..."

Superman has posed:
"Very good Mistress Kara." Kelex maneuvers around the Girl of Steel so she can grab the crystal. "Most of the older information is on that crystal. The newer information is on the crystal right beside that one, Mistress." Kelex hovers near the console for a moment, bobing slightly up and down.

"It has been often conjectured by scientists that the red solar radiation allows Kryptonians to be susceptible to invasive procedures and experimentation, even after being hyper-charged by yellow solar radiation. There is a medical journal in the archives by a Doctor Sur Em, circa 243 PKE (Pre-Krypton Explosion)." Using his "red laser pointer", Kelex highlights that crystal as well. "There are no known "psionic" experimentation journals that I can find in the registry, Mistress Kara."

All of the information on Desaad, Dr Bedlam, Darkseid's family (including Grayven and Stepphenwolf) was present and scrolls on the screen in front of Supergirl. Most was all conjecture and rumour, although, there was an interesting journal on Yaga Khan's mystical abilities, as well as raw "Darkseid" level powers. However, he had disappeared thousands of years ago, rumoured to have been killed by his own son, Darkseid.

Supergirl has posed:
As Kelex points out the other crystals, Supergirl floats over to grab them as well, bringing them back to the console. She kept the first playing as she did so. This was going to take some time but she would go through every crystal necessary to try to find answers.

"Yaga Khan?" she says the name as though testing it then frowns a little as she continues to watch the first. She is holding onto the one about the Medical Journal from Doctor Sur Em, planning to watch it next. Once the first finishes, she plugs in the second.

"Is it possible that Yaga Khan may be trying to come back to get even with his son? I know it's a stretch but I have to wonder."

Superman has posed:
The information scrolls across the screen, easy for Kara to absorb and read as Kelex had ensured it was of optimal settings for Kara. Kelex bobs up and down, almost in a nod. The information was coming rapid fire now, mostly history, potential danger to Krypton, possible scientific avenues for defense and research into their capabilities. There was even an indication that Jor El may have spoken to a New God at the time, in a sub, sub note buried deep within the text. A "Highfather".

"Based on Master Jor El's scietific notes, and Master Sur Em's medical journal, and by using the latest from Master Kal El's records from his uplink with the Justice League Watchtower, I have calculated that it is a 73 percent possibility you are correct Mistress Kara. It would be within the strategy of an ancient being such as Yaga Khan to want to remain hidden and work through intermediaries. With Darkseid allegedly missing, it would make logical sense. Very impressive Mistress Kara!"

Supergirl has posed:
"Names have power. I have heard one of the mystics say that at some point. If it is him, knowing it is, that will give us an advantage. Hopefully." She continues to scan and read, frowning a bit as she works. A bit of hair falls in front of her face and she breathes out a puff of air to blow it out of the way as she keeps her hands on the control panel to work through the data.

"So it is what I wondered about. A combination of the blood they took on top of the mental hold they have. If this Yaga Khan is possessing him, looking to take him over. I...wonder if the enemy of my enemy will be my friend."

She pauses the data, staring at the image of Darkseid.

Superman has posed:
"Indeed Mistress Kara. Many texts state the same thing." Kelex bobs back and forth as the information scrolls across the screen in front of him. "There is very little information on "blood magic" but it would be a logical progression to consider if they are using it to affect a yellow solar powered Kryptonian, as Kryptonians are affected by magic similar to other races."

A slight pause as Kara continues. "Exactly, as you say Mistress. Psionic powers of significant strength could contain Master Kal El, and then using magic and red solar radiation, whatever chemical control they were using could be administered. A brilliant deduction. You would have made your father proud." Kelex says, with a warm tinge to his voice, even though that should be improbable.

The image of Darkseid seems to stare back at Kara with an evil frown, his arms crossed across his chest, an imperious look about him. Even the image exhudes power and strength. Formidable indeed.
