Very Special Delivery
Date of Scene: 20 May 2019
Location: Lower Manhattan - NYC
Synopsis: June tries to steal Kally's delivery. Doesn't really work out the way it was planned.
Cast of Characters: June Connor, Omnis

June Connor has posed:
4pm and there is an urgent delivery for Kally. Coresoft Inc, a local small App development firm, has a delivery from Rantech, a legal firm under the Oroku Industries umbrella. Lower Manhattan is the location of the office, the area has less prestige, most of these places are simple 2-10 man companies. It seems something rather run of the mill and ordinary. A file of some sort in a thick padded vanilla folder.

Omnis has posed:
Like many of these deliveries, she starts out by riding up on her bike. She usually uses her bike to give the illusion that she is just an ordinary but talented delivery girl. She locks her bike up, gets off and looks at the place she is to get the delivery from. Once she goes up to the front desk, she looks at the envelope and then gives a smile and a nod. With that, she slides it into her satchel and takes off. The bike unhooked, she is back to racing through the streets. She is actually quite talented at bike riding but there's almost something else that makes her a bit more of a talent perhaps though if there is, she isn't showing that off.

June Connor has posed:
June has been waiting ALL day for the delivery she was planning to intercept. She sits on the top of the office building, legs clad in ripped black jeans dangling over the edge carelessly. A good way to fall to her death, really. Her hair is striped bright red and bright yellow, shaved on the left side and cascading down to her chin level on the other. Lip rings, nose rings, she's hardly someone that blends in when she's on the street level. Her shirt is an old pale Killers T-shirt which has had the arms cut out, exposing her sides and sports bra down to the hip. Not that she has many assets to show off, she's a bit of a beanpole.

She takes a swig of her red bull. "Man, why to I keep drinkin' this shit, it's terrible," she comments, wincing as if it were hard liquor. She tosses the can carelessly onto the roof behind her, and spots the bike. She watches, looking to see if it's the courier she hoped to see come this way.

Omnis has posed:
Moving with alacrity, she's careful to avoid people and weave through traffic. For her part, Kally really doesn't notice anything all that different going on with this one at least for now. She does, though, make an odd turn down an alleyway to avoid traffic. Most would probably avoid such a path but half way down the alleyway, she whips off the bike with incredible ease, grabbing it to her back like it didn't weigh that much to her and jogs down the alleyway, leaping easily over obstacles before setting the bike down on the other end.

June Connor has posed:
June spots the turn, and leaps up from the ledge. That's probably her target. As Kally jogs down the alley, June makes a full sprint to the other end of the alley, then grabs the fire escape, parkouring down the side of the building, kicking off and snagging the outside ladder as it slides down to the street level. The clattering of the ladder surely announces her presence, and she hits the alley lightly, and then starts walking casually down toward Kally, giving an inverted nod at her, as if she was going to pass by, heading toward the alley way Kally would be coming out from.

Omnis has posed:
A blink is given to June as she comes clattering down the fire escape. She definitely notices the girl and idly adjusts her satchel to the opposite side as she sorta nods back and then gets back on her bike. She then starts out toward the open end of the alleyway, seeming to try to avoid June as much as possible. Maybe cause she's a thief...maybe cause she's a crazy girl who just pulled an action stunt off a fire escape as if that were just a normal thing.

June Connor has posed:
The trick is an old one that June employs as she passes by. Just as she leaves natural peripheral vision, she flicks the paper at the opposite brick wall of the alley, causing s SNAP to echo from the left as June spins around behind to try to grab the bag.

While it's little more than a harmless firecracker, the snap sounds like pistol's crack of a gunshot, designed as a momentary distraction as the thin girl reaches out to grab at the bag with one hand, while kicking at the bike frame with her foot, trying to throw the courier off balance so she can make a break down the alley way, where the bike would be of little use in pursuit.

Omnis has posed:
The firecracker definitely causes a distraction. That's hardly the problem. The problem is yanking the bag is not exactly as easy as one might expect. The bike goes to the side a little and the girl's foot goes down. Her body falls backward and yanking the bag should cause her hand to go up. Simple, you pull the bag, the hand comes up and the bag comes loose is what should happen. However, the girl goes partially down, the bag is yanked and it is like trying to yank the bag away from a statue. The only thing that is achieved is the off balance girl goes down to her butt. The bag tears a little from the stress but her arm just isn't budging. She then realizes what is happening and grips the bag and glares at June, "Hey!"

June Connor has posed:
"Fuck," comes the one word response to the heavier resistance to her attempted theft expected. There's a grit of teeth from the young woman, and June doesn't let go of the bag either. "Sorry sweetcakes," she comments condescendingly. "You'd thank me if you knew." Her free hand produces a kunai, not exactly the normal choice weapon for a punk rocker, and she takes a backhanded slash at the strap of the bag, trying to cut it free and make her escape.

Omnis has posed:
That was not expected and the knife cuts the strap. That actually gets a small growl. No, not an inhuman one, but a rather frustrated one, "Hey! I'm not made of money, ya know!" SHe watches as the bag is taken away but what may or may not come as a surprise to June is how the girl rolls back over her own shoulder on to one hand, spin and flip up on to her feet and land in front of June with her arms crossed, "What's this about?!" She takes a step toward June with a deep frown.

June Connor has posed:
It doesn't look like the thief has a great deal of interest in explaining herself as she skips backward with an apologetic shrug and a mock frown, the bag dangling from her right hand. She lands on the backpedal with a double tap of her left foot and spins around, running without offering the requested explanation for the attack. She vaults a trash can rather effortlessly, and as far as your regular human goes, she is very very fast. Of course, not so much that someone with extra abilities wouldn't be able to keep pace.

Omnis has posed:
A frown and she lets out a sigh. She then looks back at the bike and grumbles before turning to run. She rushes after the girl without really using super speed but she's also not taking it easy. She doesn't simply avoid the trash can, she leaps up and quick steps off the wall with a scraping sound of rubber on brick. She hits the top of the dumpster on the other side and skids easily along the side of the lid before leaping off and gripping a nearby window sill before landing with a loud thud and rushing to try and grab June's shoulder, "Stop!"

June Connor has posed:
June is not an easy person to keep up with. She can vault, parkour, and do many things the average person cannot. As Kally performs her maneuvers, June does similarly. She bounces off a wall, jumping to an opposite side as Kally positions herself on the dumpster, but then is put in the path of the window sill leap, her right shoulder tagged by the grab, and she comes spinning around fist with the dagger pointing straight toward Kally.

It's like a reflexive kill maneuver, and if Kally watches, there is a certain look of panic that fills the thief's eyes as she realizes what she is doing, and flips up the tip of the kunai. Not only does this make the strike less lethal, but it also makes it far mor clumsy as the palm side of her fist continues on its way to Kally.

Hit or miss, the unexpected snag casts June from her feet, as she sprawls butt first onto the alley pavement, bouncing right in a puddle. Except it hasn't been raining. Probably a puddle from something seeping out of a nearby dumpster.

Omnis has posed:
Ow, that hurt. Well, not Kally. June probably feels it pretty well. She just punched the butt of a kunai into steel. I mean, you can fake not being as strong, fast, or otherwise as you could be but it is very hard to fake being hard enough to take a bullet. Either way, she watches her hit and then winces for the poor girl and then kinda recalls that she just nearly 'killed' her and also stole her bag and then doesn't feel as bad. Either way she walks up and stomps a foot with a heavy thud to beside June and states, "I don't know why you want that but give it back. I have a delivery to make..."

June Connor has posed:
"Holy fuck, you're like a damn brick," June growls. Despite the impact, she didn't make a single sound of pain, she sounds more frustrated than anything. "Shit, I bet they don't pay you enough to be this dedicated," she observes. "Hell, they don't pay me at all to do this, so guess I don't got room to talk." She looks up at Kally. "I guess it might passed your notice, but I'm actually trying to /stop/ you from makin' that delivery," she gives a sarcastic quip from the ground, and starts to get back up. "Dammit, what is this shit? Fuckin'..." she sniffs the air around her coming off the puddle. "Like, rotten cabbage."

Omnis has posed:
"Yeah, it's super gross and I don't care that you are trying to stop me. I get paid to make a delivery so you had better give me a good reason not to drag you off to the nearest cop." She nods her head and seems strained a little as she clenches her fists and glares at June, "Cause I'm sure plenty of thieves would want me to /not/ complete a delivery if they stole the delivery. So, what is your reason cause I don't want to have a failure on my hands all over a thief who wants a piece of paper."

June Connor has posed:
June stands to her feet, still gripping the bag. "Ok Goldilocks," she says, looking still unintimidated, despite that her knuckles look a little bruised. from the failed punch. "There's more than paper in that, there's a coin that's got magic powers that are helpin' a really bad man do who the hell knows what really fucked up shit." She gives a kip up of her dyed red eyebrows, as if to say she knows that it sounds like one hair-brained idea. "There, now you'll let me steal it, right?" she taunts. "I think it can brainwash ya too, so, there's that."

Omnis has posed:
The short haired woman blinks at that nickname and then shrugs and tilts her head, "Lots of problems here but one major one." She points at June, "You are trying to steal it and the other person just wanted it delivered." She tilts her head, "How do I know you aren't planning to snatch it and use it to brainwash people or sell it to the highest bidder? What makes you the hero in this situation?" She hmms and tilts her head as she stands up straight and strange June will feel the temperature drop a little as the girl steps closer. And there's a faint shimmer of blue in the girl's eyes for a moment.

June Connor has posed:
June gives another mock frown, akin to the one she gave before turning and running. "Uh, ya don't?" she admits. "And I never said I was any kinda hero. And you really believed that?" she says, a certain look of disbelief in her expression. "Damn. You gotta be all kindsa fun at parties, huh?" She takes a step back as there is the shimmer in Kally's eyes, "Oh hell no," she grumbles. "Tell me you're a fuckin' mutant. Dammit! Why can't this ever be easy?" She holds the hand out with the kunai, but in more of a surrender pose than a threatening one. "Look, look," You really don't want this. I don't want this. We probably got off a little shitty, so lemme start over. I gotta keep this out of shithead's hands. You gotta deliver it. I get it, but they are gonna pay you what, like 12 bucks an hour? How about I give you twenty and we call it square. See, then I paid for it."

Omnis has posed:
"Mutant?" She tilts her head, "I wish." She states, and in a way she does. It'd have made life vastly more simple. Either way, she shakes her head, "It isn't about the money. It's about reputation. I offer to deliver something, on time might I add, and I get it done. That's a rep. If there's something up with the peopel I got this from, I need to call the cops. If there's something up with where it is going, I need to call the cops. Letting you steal it isn't helping anyone. I don't know you. So, what do you have to make me believe that you are the safe path." She tilts her head, "All I'm asking is why should I trust you?"

June Connor has posed:
"Ah," June answers, as if comprehending. "So reputation as a good delivery girl is more important than not helpin' bad guys. I can get on board with that. I mean, they might even give you employee of the month, right? Can't pass that up." She gives a cock-eyed grin, as if somehow this is a joke to her. "Look," she explains, continuing to take another step backward. "I ain't got nothin' to prove to you, cuz if I coulda proven it, I wouldn't have just jacked your shit to begin with, right?" She points at Kally, as if the other should recognize her point. "So I mean, don't trust me. I sure as hell wouldn't, I'm not very trustworthy at all. But, gotta do what I gotta do."

Omnis has posed:
A sigh escapes her, "This particular job is by me, for me, with me. I'm the employee of the month cause I'm the only..." She looks up, "Ya know what." Depending on how quick June really is, this moment is probably something rather unexpected. Kally is fast. Catch arrows and potentially even block bullets fast. She's also well practiced with her strength and speed. She's not used to hiding it but she is used to not crushing eggs when she picks them up. It's potentially one moment she's talking to this girl and the next something hit her right between the eyes. With that, Kally will retrieve the bag and start off back toward her bike at a much greater speed than she chased with.

June Connor has posed:
June is caught not flat-footed, but her reflexes are not nearly quick enough to avoid the jab. Her head snaps back, dropping the bag and her kunai. And righ back into the dumpster. Definitely the source of the smell. She recovers quickly but as she does, Kally's already peeling down toward the bike. With the delivery point so close, it's hard for her to close the gap. "Fuck," she mutters as she gets back to her feet, blood trickling down her nose. She lets out a sigh. Guess she'll have to do this another way.
