Cast of Characters: Morrigan MacIntyre, 8277

Morrigan MacIntyre has posed:
Doctor MacIntyre was running on little sleep, but she was almost done with tests that she needed to run and things of that nature. The red head is dressed in a plack pencil skirt, a pale pink blouse that's well tailored and heels that most wouldn't want to walk in for the amount of hours that she sees. Her hair is plaited back into a braid, but there's unruly curls that are starting to sneak out. She's standing around the coffee machine as there's a few fresh pots brewing. Her bright violet eyes are watching it like a hawk, just in case it might try to wander off before she gets hers.

Mack (8277) has posed:
Mack walks out of the elevator into a lobby in Mount Sinai. He pulls the left lapel of his sharkskin grey suit and sniffs, hoping the smell of the morgue had not followed him. Satisfied, he straightens his jacket and matching grey tie. He heads toward the cafeteria, glancing around casually at the few people spread across the tables. Even in as nice a hospital as this, everything looks tired. Or maybe that is just how hospitals make him feel. Antiseptic.

He strolls across the cafeteria and his eye is caught by someone who doesn't look tired or antiseptic. Mack walks to one of the fridges and picks out a vegan muffin, then walks over to the coffee cups. He pulls one of the stack, and glances at the woman waiting there out of the corner of his eye. He taps the cup with one finger and seems to make up his mind.

"I hear if you stare at it hard enough, it brews faster," Mack jokes.

Morrigan MacIntyre has posed:
Morrigan gives a look up when someone comes near the coffee and it's a good thing the woman doesn't growl at Mack. The joke is the perfect ice breaker in the siutation however and makes her laugh softly. "It's been a rough night so far. I think the coffee is the only thing that's going to keep me going." she admits. Then there's a look over him, noting the suit and other things. "I've not seen you around before, are you new to Mount Sinai or just visiting?" she asks him with a red lipped smile that follows it.

Mack (8277) has posed:
A half-smile creeps onto Mack's face when the woman laughs. "Visiting, had a meeting," he says a little vaguely. "Lucky I didn't get lost here, it's big. You... ah, come here a lot?. Or just when the coffee needs brewing?"

Mack holds out his hand. "I'm Mack," he says with a smile.

Morrigan MacIntyre has posed:
Morrigan straightens a bit as he speaks and there's a smile to him, "We do get a lot of visitors. I was out of work for a few weeks healing so was hoping I'd not missed a new doctor coming in." she tells him. "I do come here a lot, yes. Given it's my work place." she chuckles good naturedly. When he offers his hand she reaches out and takes it, giving it a shake that feels like she's used to meeting people and shaking hands. "It's nice to meet you, Mack. I'm also a Mac. Or well I'm Doctor Morrigan MacIntyre. I'm the head of Pathology here." she offers.

Mack (8277) has posed:
"Head of Pathology, that's... You know, that's such a coincidence," Mack says. He can't keep the look of... Surprise? Alarm?... From flashing across his face before it's buried under another smile and a shake of his head.

"My meeting? It was actually with one of your people. Dr. Gehrie. He was doing an autopsy, the microbiology thing," Mack adds.

"Worried the guy might have died from a weird bug. Technical, I know," he jokes self-deprecatingly. "I went to engineering school instead of med school."

Morrigan MacIntyre has posed:
Morrigan's overly intelligent gaze is focused on Mack and there's a bit of a hmm as he speaks, "That is a coincidence. I'm sure." she gives a smile to him. Nothing to be alarmed about right this moment at least. "Doctor Gehrie probably left me out of the loop on that, but I can't be mad at him." she shakes her head. Then she gives a smile, "Coffee's done, you want to get yours first?" she asks him. Then there's a chuckle as she reaches out to pat his arm, "Engineering school is a good path to take. Do you have a focus?" she asks him. She was at least genuinely interested in hearing more.

Mack (8277) has posed:
Mack chuckles, seeming to miss her scrutiny. He doesn't miss the eyes though

"No, no, doctors and ladies first," he says, with a slight tilt of the head, then it passes as he happily takes the out. "Advanced propulsion, actually. Fusion, fission," he adds.

"Loved it. You know that feeling when you find that thing you're really into?" Mack asks, his eyes lit up. "Every day with that stuff."

He reaches over and pours his coffee once Morrigan is has hers. He skips the cream and sugar and takes a sip of the coffee. His nose wrinkles slightly.

"You're not in charge of the coffee, too, right? Is it safe to say it's not the best?" he asks with a smile. "What about you, though? Head of Pathology, here of all places. That's huge. Especially since, I mean," he looks at her appraisingly but not creepily. "You're young. Really young."

Morrigan MacIntyre has posed:
Morrigan gives a chuckle as he lets her get coffee first and she pours herself a cup and puts the lid on it. She gives a bit of a look over her shoulder and then there's a chuckle as she listens to him, "I'm not in charge of the coffee, no. That's Mike." she points the guy out at the register. "If it sucks I'd lodge a complaint with him." she muses.

She smirks at his comment on her age, "I'm pushing thirty five. I'm not horribly young." she admits. "And you're what...mid thirties?" she asks him. "So, what does an engineering expert need with an autopsy of a person that died from a bug of some kind?" she adds the question. "I can get your coffee for you. Should be free if it makes your face do that little wrinkled nose thing." she winks at him.

"I have a double doctorate from Harvard, so I might be younger than most, but I have the knowledge and work ethic that they needed." she admits as she heads towards the register.

Mack (8277) has posed:
Mack glances over Morrigan's head at Mike. "Nah, he looks like he's having a bad enough day," Mack jokes.

"Close enough," Mack says about his age. "I gave up trying to pass for 28 a few years ago."

Mack walks over toward the lineup at the cashier. An elderly man with a desperately sad look on his face is fishing for change in wallet with a confused look. Mack reaches into his pocket and slips a bill onto the man's tray. "I think you dropped that," he says with a wink. Mike pretends not to notice, sparing the man his dignity.

Mack holds his hands out in surrender when Morrigan tells him about her degrees. "Hey, I wasn't questioning, believe me," he says with a smile. "Double doctorate. This is the point where guys pick up and run, right?" he asks with a grin, completely walking past her other question. "I mean, smart, accomplished... Beautiful.. Am I allowed to say that? A lot of guys would peace out. But maybe not doctors? Or your husband or boyfriend, obviously."

Morrigan MacIntyre has posed:
"Mike tends to have a lot of bad days, yeah. Though he's a nice guy." Morrigan tells Mack. Then there's a bit of a smile to him, "I wasn't saying you looked old or anything. You just carry yourself with experience." she tells him quietly.

When Mack slips the money onto the mans tray there's a bit of an appreciative look his way, but she doesn't say anything for the moment. She just watches him. Then she laughs and shakes her head, "I expect most men to pick up and run by this point, yeah." she muses to that. She does remember that he just glossed over her question. He can see it in her eyes.

"Thank you for the compliment, I've not heard that I was beautiful in a few months." she admits. "I don't mind people saying it if they mean it." she smiles to him. "And no, don't have a husband or a boyfriend. Last guy I was supposed to have dinner with just kind of...stop coming around." she shrugs.

Mack (8277) has posed:
Mack looks surprised and is quiet while Morrigan pays for their coffees

"Thank you for the coffee," he says as they walk past the cashier. "Hey, why don't you let me return the favour. Even high-flying young doctors need to take a break every once in a while, right? How about a drink after work sometime. Nice place just down the road, The Blind Judge, you know it?" he asks.

Morrigan MacIntyre has posed:
Morrigan gives a look over Mack and there's a bit of a softer smile to him, "You're welcome. Thanks for making me laugh tonight. I needed it more than you know." she tells him. Then she nods, "Sure, I'd love to have a drink with you." she states. "The Blind Judge, never been in but have heard of it. I usually end up drinking at the Blue Lady. They tend to play good Jazz, but that could be fore another time if you like." she grins. "And maybe you can tell me over a beer why you were checking in on bugs." she whispers as she winks at him.
