Going Knowhere
Date of Scene: 24 May 2019
Location: Burnout Pub, Garnet (Knowhere)
Synopsis: Just a night at a bar on Knowhere
Cast of Characters: Skygirl, 7665, Star-Lord

Skygirl has posed:
Janz wonders if that little Takuni (or whatever he is, he insists he is not a Takuni) will be coming back like he sais. It has been several local days and there is no sign of him. In the meantime, she is still working here, mostly as a Waitress. She gets fair tips from most of the humanoids...for some reason they seem to think she is attractive.

Blackjack O'hare (7665) has posed:
There are huge lists, almost mugshots they give out to bouncers in rougher areas like this. Blackjack made it all the way to page 3, not banned but well he has a reputation it seems. A wrecker of bars, a killer of men and holy fuck he's god damned adorable!

Blackjack pauses just inside the doorway, head dipped as he brings an open flame to a fragrant black cigar. Those long ears swiveling around, before he flicks the match out and heads on up to the bar amidst a thick cloud of acrid cigar smoke. Taking a little extra hop to get seated, before wrapping his knuckles against the counter top. "This dive do tea, or Andour coffee perhaps?" A teetotaler, who'd have figured right?

Skygirl has posed:
Janz replies, "We have 197 different herbal decotations, including Andour coffee, for those whose preferred intoxicant is caffine rather than alcohol." Not every being finds alcohol intoxicating. There are a surprising number of those who prefer caffine, citric acid, or this rare substance called chocolate...

Blackjack O'hare (7665) has posed:
Those blaze red photoreceptors swing round to face Janz, and yeah ok adorable or not they're a little spooky right? "Billitong tea, if you have it then."And a pause as he eyes his cigar "And an ash tray, if you would be so kind?"He's got his back to the door, but ever so casually he sets his datapad on the counter top beside him with just enough of a tilt to angle the camera on the doorway behind him. Dangerous Mercenaries and their paranoia, right?

Skygirl has posed:
This place has any number of drinks, it is just a matter of calling the ingrediants up from storage by entering the proper codes, Janz can not instantly memorize things, but she can quickly find the name and locate the code...very quickly. Most people do not even see her look things up, it happens so fast. She punches in the code and follows the instructions to create the beverage, then delivers it to the tabke once it is ready.

Blackjack O'hare (7665) has posed:
Tea is accepted with a soft humph, and a sniff before delivering the faintest of shrugs and grabbing a drink. "Thank you, it's just what I needed."and well theres even the ghost of a smile as he sets some coins on the bar, and well he's apparently quite the generous tipper it seems! "You're new."He states flatly, as he sets that cigar aside on the rim of an ashtray. Delicately taking saucer and cup in those gloved hands, to watch Janz with interest. "So who did you piss off to end up here, of all places?"

Skygirl has posed:
She says, "I am on duty, and it is kind of a long story...it will have to wait until I am on my own time, if you are still interested." She heads over to take another order. A Khund decides to grope her while she is facing the other way. Before he can withdraw his hand he finds it helf in an extremely strong grip. She says, "If you try that again I throw you out." The Khund is wincing and gasps, "Understood." She lets him go an he massages his bruised arm. Considering Khunds are sometimes called "walking tanks", especially their soldiers, few creatures can manhandle them so easily.

Blackjack O'hare (7665) has posed:
Is used to being the little guy nobody expects, so yeah the grip gets noticed but he's hardly motivated to pry. Instead he tucks into his tea, sipping delicately as he waits for..well who the hell knows what he's waiting for. Illicit arms, turning in corpses or something? This is blackjack afterall.

Skygirl has posed:
When her break time arrives, Janz heads back to Blackjack's table, "I can tel you that story now, if you like."

Blackjack O'hare (7665) has posed:
Theres the perk of a brow, and the swivel of one of those big ears as he looks to Janz quietly for a moment. "Sure, fire away kid."

Skygirl has posed:
"I am from a planet tha, so far at least, no one has ever heard of. It is called Kormo and we recently, less than a decade ago, created our first stardrive." Janz pauses a second, "By bad fortune, so it seems, one of our early explorer craft brought back a virus from a planet they visited that can be fatal to us. A cure was found, but a small number of us were allergic to the cure. I was one of those. Each of us was sent, separately, to star systems with yellow or blue suns, where it was speculated that we would be immune to the virus. It turns out some group. fearing we might still be infected should we return, sabotagued the navigation system, so I have no idea which of the billions of red dwarf stars in the galaxy Kormo orbits. Even though I was cured, I have no way to get home other than tedious searching of stars."

Blackjack O'hare (7665) has posed:
Theres a sage nod there from behind his teacup. "And that explains why you are amongst the stars, not how you came to be in knowhere. I mean goodness few who are here, desire to be. This is one of the worst places in the Galaxy, full of scoundrels."

Skygirl has posed:
Janz explains, "My ship was damaged while I was exploring, I had to limp back to the first place I knew that had the technology for repairs. Of ciurse, no one does things here for free, so I need wo work to make enough money to pay for it."

Blackjack O'hare (7665) has posed:
"Now comes the familar story, but bar work to fix your ship? Goodness dear you'll be here for -ages-, ought to find somone hiring crew or mercenaries. Get something that actually pays, and make sure your mechanic has a clue. Plenty here who don't, but charge like they do."And a pause to delicately set that emptied teacup in it's saucer, before retaking that cigar with a few puffs.

Skygirl has posed:
Janz admits, "Someone did offer me some mercenary work, even though ky people are kind off pacifists they seemed willing to bring me along. However, he has not been back in a few days."

Blackjack O'hare (7665) has posed:
"Well this is no place for pacifism, the Galaxy is cruel, savage and generally merciless. Do whats necessary to survive, dead men know no morality at the end of it. So buy a gun, and get to fighting when the opportunity presents itself."Theres a pull on that cigar as those receptors flare through that thick cigar smoke. "Go visit the Mercenary's guild office, they'll help."

Skygirl has posed:
Janz states, "My Kormoan stun blaster is enough of a gun for me, it can knock out just about anything without killing it...and I am not exactly defenseless without it. I ran into a fellow caled something like mon-al, he said my species must be distantly related to his own. He said he was from Dazam I think." She did not quite say it right, but still...

Blackjack O'hare (7665) has posed:
"Kill them, dont knock them out. You leave them alive and they'll just come back to return the favor, nevermind few will want to hire you. If you can't handle that, well maybe you should retire someplace quiet and hope nobody comes looking. Leaving witnesses, never works out in the long run."And a sage nod, as he ashes that cigar carefully.

Skygirl has posed:
Janz replies, "It is not our way. Kormo is so peaceful that even our worst criminals do not kill. However, while I may not kill, I can do a decent job of guardings someone's back."

Blackjack O'hare (7665) has posed:
"The race which threw you out like garbage because you -might- have a pathogen? This is not your home planet, people are not kind out here. If you want to survive, you're going to have to adapt to the place you've found yourself."And a little shrug there, as the hare puffs after his cigar. "Kill or be killed, adapt or die."

Star-Lord has posed:
It's been a busy couple of months for the Guardians of the Galaxy, and Star-Lord in particular has been going bounty hunting on the prison planet for weeks now. This rotation, the Milano and crew have docked on Knowhere. The notorous mercenaries were only going to be docked for a day or so while they loaded supplies; the ongoing fight on the prison planet was eating up their ammo faster than they expected... and they had a lot more credits than they ever thought they would from the payments for fighting amongst the worst the galaxy had to offer.

Of course, this also meant Star-Lord /really/ needed a vacation. So the nearest bar on Knowhere it was!

The rugged half-human swaggered into Burnout like he owned the place (let's face it, he's racked up a huge tab here) and plopped down on the nearest stool to the bar, "gimme a Garnet Special." Peter barked to the bartender.

Skygirl has posed:
Janz moves with blinding speed, barely subsonic, as she pulls up the order and follows the instructions on how to make it, depositing the drink on the man's table. She wonders what species he is, he almost looks Kormoan. To most, it would seem like she vanished from beside Blackjack and appeared with the drink beside Star-Lord, "Here you go sir."

Blackjack O'hare (7665) has posed:
Theres not even a glance over the shoulder, and well he hasn't met -the- Star-Lord himself but Rocket's said enough. "Ah, if it isn't Rocket's first mate Quill."Leaning foreward through that cigar smoke to fix Quill with those twin blazing red photoreceptors. "Where is the little rascal, not with you I presume?"

See people talk about Blackjack and they mention the purple jacket, the red photoreceptors on that helmet and the long ears. They never mention he's a god damned giant murderous bunny rabbit, with fantastic fashion sense. Anywho, he offers a bucktooth grin, before working at that cigar. "Goodness, look at me I'm being terribly rude. Please, do allow me to introduce myself."And down he hops, snagging datapad under one arm as he heads down the bar towards Quill.

Star-Lord has posed:
"First mate? That a-hole misinformed you." Star-Lord corrects with an amused tone, "Rockets handling his own business." Peter isn't paying attention to Janz's speed until she's right on top of him... and he jumps just slightly in fear, "Ohshit! Never seen one like you before around here." He calms after a moment and looks Janz over.

"Is that natural for your species, or something in your equipment?" Then, Blackjack is coming to introduce himself, "Star-Lord. Leader of the Guardians of the Galaxy and Captain of the Milano."

Skygirl has posed:
Janz comments, "Rocket, that was the name of the Takuni who was talking about hiring me to help out with a mission. I gather you both know him, is he reliable?" She adds to Star-Lord, AKA Quill, "It is apparently a species trait, among others, but one that only shows up in certain environments. The sun of this place is yellow, that sets the traits I have."

Blackjack O'hare (7665) has posed:
"Blackjack O'hare, Field commander of the Black Bunny Brigade. Rocket grew up next door, basically."Theres a gloved hand offered for a shake, if Quill wants it. Either way, well he snags a bar stool one down to give Quill at least some room. "He's said you're decent enough, which probably means you're good people. Glad to finally meet you."

"Is Rocket Reliable, certainly not. He's clever, dangerous and a good friend but Reliable is not the word to describe him."Theres a pause there as he ashes out his cigar. "He's sort of a professional chaos artist, if anything. If you want reliable, well there are others."

Star-Lord has posed:
"He's about as reliable as Drax has a sense of humor." Peter notes, entirely cheerfully. "He's got a good heart, but don't even tell him I said that. If you're looking for reliable for an employer, you're looking for me." Star-Lord states, "we're a fairly elite team that takes the best." Star-Lord explains to Janz, before he turns his attention on Blackjack, taking the hand for a handshake, "I actually think I remember you. You were around during that fight with the Legislator A-holes right? The Cybertronians who tried to get Blurr?"

Skygirl has posed:
Janz frowns prettily, "Well, as I was explaining to O'hare here, I am from a species of pacifists. We are able to defens ourselves, but killing is something we do not really do. I explained that to Rocket as well. Everyone around here seems to think it is impossible to maintain that trait."

Blackjack O'hare (7665) has posed:
"Oh yes, the big robots. That was my sister Fleet Commander Cash actually, though I used the solar sail on that guy. Would have been on the RMV Complication for that I think?"Theres a pause there as Blackjack ponders for a moment, before finally nodding in affirmation. "Yeah, ruined movie night for every rabbit in the fleet. We're not much of a naval power I'm afraid, way too many little ones onboard. Otherwise we would have hung around to help for sure, it was nothing personal you understand?"

"It's silly and will get people killed, so yes for once me and Rocket are in complete agreement it seems."Those receptors flicker dark for a moment, before Blackjack lifts a gloved hand to slip off that chrome dome of a helmet with a blink. "You kill the bad ones, you save the good ones and you move on. Get paid, get laid, get off to some other adventure."
