Date of Scene: 25 May 2019
Location: Upper East Side, Manhattan
Synopsis: Spider-Man and Omnis discuss the particulars of heroics and being personable.
Cast of Characters: Spider-Man, Omnis

Spider-Man has posed:
New York City in the morning is a carefully balanced experiment in controlled chaos. People come and go, horns blaring constantly, and people shouting at one another all manner of vulgarities that really expresses the diverity of the human language. Spider-Man would usually be swinging right about now, but he'd been up all night for any number of countless reasons that aren't nearly as important as eating the donut he's holding.

Sitting ontop of a bus stop overhang with his feet swinging absently, the Wallcrawler is chewing quietly with his masked rolled up to just below his nose. There's a couple photo ops, his name shouted for attention, and the periodic wave/smile combo, but for the most part he's left to his devices to enjoy breakfast.

New York is in a hurry this morning.

Omnis has posed:
There's no webs or anything she ues to get around. Sure, some might argue that it is a great way to get around but there are other options. Like when you can fly (poorly) and also know quite a bit about parkour. So, there's the lightest of tapping sounds as a figure moves quickly from spot to spot, leaping from building to building and then flipping out over the street, landing one foot on the pole holding a traffic light before flipping up off of that and landing on a nearby awning. The figure has a backpack on and while she is wearing her super suit, she is also sorta working. She is just about to leap up when she nearly stumbles.

She blinks and looks over at the bustop not a full twenty feet away and then blinks again, "Wow, speak of the devil..." She then idly hop steps from the awning to the bus stop and grins, "Hi!" She gives a wave and then lets out a breath and squats down, "Spider-Man, right?"

Spider-Man has posed:
Spidey doesn't have super hearing or any of that, but he's developed a pretty keen eyes for odd details against his native city. Some might argue that costumed folk aren't nearly as odd a detail as they where when he was 15, but nearly 10 years on the job and he can pretty much pick a suit out from the hustle and bustle of the usual foot traffic. Especially if it's up high and coming towards him.

The webslinger turns towards Kally as she flips from awning to lightpole and onward with another bite of his donut inhand. Chewing casually until she's within conversations distance, "Morning." He waves, but there's a half eaten donut in his hand, "That's right, Spider-Man, Spidey, Webhead... uhhh Menace of New York, if you believe the Bugle." Another bite, another casually thoughtful chewing.

Pointing pinky out towards Kally, "You fought that one big blonde dude with the snake lady."

Omnis has posed:
A grin, "Yeah!" She nods her head and he can feel something odd. She has a blue glow about her but then again, a lot of heroes and villains glow. Hers, though, is an odd dark blue that makes the area around cold. Quite cold. Easily 15 degrees lower than it should be. Nice in the summer, though? Either way, she grins and looks in the direction of where that fight was, "I thought I saw you there briefly but you were kinda gone fast. I'm sure something was up but I'm Omnis." She nods her head.

Spider-Man has posed:
"Omnis." Spidey bobs his head and sucks the frosting from his gloved fingers after shoving the last bite of his donut into the corner of his mouth, "So... you the air conditioner or did someone leave their fridge running?" Thumbing around at the noticable drop in temperature. With his hands free he leans back on them and crosses his ankles, but only for a second since someone walking by holds their hand up to high five. Pete is anything if not a slave to peoples recognition, Spidey! *Smack* NOW he can lean, once he's lowered his mask anyways. "Yeah, hated to leave when I did, but you guys had it handled without me."

Omnis has posed:
A bit of a frown and a nod, "Yeah, it is me. It kinda happens naturally around me to one degree or another." She shrugs and nods her head, "It seems to be natural for me." She nods her head and then looks over at the person who gave Spidey a high-five and smiles a little before looking back to him, "And yeah, it's cool. The snake lady knocked him out. He was, well, rather powerful." She nods her head, "Slow though, really slow." She shrugs, "Not as scary as, well, I won't get into that. Probably best not to air out other people's dirty laundry."

Spider-Man has posed:
"I saw that." Spidey says with a bobbing head, now properly leaning back on his palms. "Kind of takes the fun out of it if they sleep through the butt kicking, but easy wins are still wins." His head shifts around to look up and down the street, then turns fully on Omnis, "I barely like to air out my own laundry... let me tell you, this suit can get riiiiipe. What kind of deturgent are you using, anyways? Or maybe the brisk wind keeps you fresh... if you ask me, that's kind of a bonus. Less sweat."

Omnis has posed:
A chuckle and she shrugs, "It's not all fresh scents and laundry fresh over here, it has it ups and downs." She nods her head and then idly stands up and looks around the area, "Though, I am finally at least trying to do what I have wanted to do for a while and found a way to combine a bit of work with it." She gestures at the pack, "People need heroes and deliveries." She grins, "I do both." She then lets out a soft sigh, "I just wish..." She shrugs, "...well, eh, I wish a lot of things. Tide Fresh, by the way. The kind without the scents or harsh chemicals.

Spider-Man has posed:
"Smart." Spider-Man points at Kally's pack, "When I was seventeen I delivered pizzas. Pretty good tips when you can get a pie up town through rush hour traffic in under fifteen minutes." Far be it from him to judge someone using their abilities for a little self gain. Hypocrite he is not. "Listen." His hand dusts off on his thigh and he pushes up off his palm laid back behind him, "You don't have to tell me if you don't want to, and I don't have the power to make wishes come true, but we're just sitting here ontop of a bus stop like a couple of deliquents so..." He shrugs a shoulder, "Tide Fresh. It's on my amazon list."

Omnis has posed:
A shift and she clears her throat before looking up, "This might sound a little odd if you like old movies but..." She considers the people down below and then points to the nearby roof, "...come on up there." She then shifts her weight down a little and leaps up with such ease that it almost looks like she flies though really she mainly just lept. She lands on top of a nearby building and stretches her arms up before looking back down toward Spidey and gesturing for him to follow.

Spider-Man has posed:
"Draaaaamaaatic..." Spidey groans, but rolls backwards onto his shoulders and springs up easily to his feet. He has a pretty impressive verticle leap in his own right, carrying him about a third of the way to the roof. From there he fires a webline from each wrist and yanks hard, sailing the rest of the distance into a rolling stop beside her. "First, I love old movies." One finger held up, then points it at Kally, "What's up?"

Omnis has posed:
A smile is given to him but it is, sad. Her eyes showing an almost want for tears as she looks at him and then back down, "Down there." She gestures, "The people that were there. The ones you coudl see." She looks up at him, "They weren't the only ones that were there. There were some smiling at you. Some frowning. Ones you cannot see. Angry ones, happy ones. Appreciative mostly. A couple not so much." She looks back down and then up at him and shrugs, "I see dead people." She nods her head.

Spider-Man has posed:
There's a moment where Spidey looks like he feels pretty terrible for having made a joke, a moment that doesn't pass so quickly. Standing there rubbing at the back of his head and looking where she indicates so that he doesn't have to look at eyes wanting to cry, "I don't se-" Well that certainly explains why, "They were looking at me?" He wonders outloud. Certainly there have been times in his career where he couldn't save everyone, and he carried those people around with him every day. Never in a million years would he assume they carried on too, though. "Seriously?" Brow knitting, mask eyes shrinking into slivers. "That's... pretty heavy. So that's why you have the cold effect..." Words trailing off into silence, Spider-Man standing there feeling like a douche, "Hey, I didn't mean anything when I mentioned the cold..." His hand reaches out towards her shoulder, not really sure whether he knows how to be comforting with this kind of thing, but he's gonna try.

Omnis has posed:
The smile widens a little and she chuckles, "It's ok. I draw them out." She states and then looks around, "They kinda are even up here to a degree. They aren't all just from you though." She nods her haed, "I don't want you to think that they are all some burden or something." She nods her head, "I think some of them were just like those folks down there. Happy to see Spider-Man. Some unhappy. I don't know. I can stop and listen to them if I focus but..." She shrugs, "It's hard to do all that while moving around." She looks back, "However, yeah, that's where the cold comes from. I don't really like talkinga bout this but...you're Spider-Man." She looks at him, "I mean, you kinda get the short end of teh stick a lot in the news so I figure you get it. What it is like to not necessarily always feel like a hero." She nods her head.

Spider-Man has posed:
"See..." Spidey wiggles a finger at Omnis, settling down on the half wall at the edge of the roof with one foot extended out and the other with the foot planted against that same wall upon which he's sitting like it's stuck there, "I don't let the news get me down... I mean, it does sometimes, but most of the time I carry the good with me and just don't focus on the negativity. The world is too small and life is too short." That last part gives him pause and he looks down with a frown behind his mask, "I get it though... that feeling like you're too different or.. not like some of the other guys. The Superman's and the Captain Americas." He elaborates a little, "I told Sibilance... that's the snake lady, be tee dubs... I told her that sometimes you just have to ride the bus and be around people." There's a long glance down into the street over his shoulder, "People laugh at me when I walk down the sidewalk taking pictures or high fiving people, but I do it so I don't ever forget why I do the other stuff."

Now looking back at Kally, "Nothing about what you just told me makes me think you're any less a hero than anyone else. I saw you jump infront of a brute of a bro and not flinch, just to protect people." His finger jerks in her direction expressively, "Abilities don't make a person a hero, character does, and you've got Character in spades." It's hard to know whether he's smiling, but his eyes widen expressively, "and you don't just protect these folks." Thumbing backwards at the street, "You also look out for the ones nobody can see or hear. The ones nobody even realize are there to need looking out for. That's.. like.. double hero."

Omnis has posed:
A look down and she smiles a little before saying, "I owe it to them..." She looks down at the world and then looks over at him, "Don't tell people about this though, please." She nods her head, "Not even other heroes. I'm sorry, but you kinda...are a big hero to me." She nods her head, "I'm a bit of a hero nerd." She chuckles a little, "I kinda always wanted to meet you and you know, you're as cool as I thought." She then looks down, "Thing is. I do owe them. The ones you can't see." She looks at him, "I am kinda like...not literaly like but kinda like..." She thinks, "A plant." She shrugs, "And they are the sun." She looks down at the streets below, "When they're around they tend to grow sorta tired around me. I grow stronger." She looks at him, "They always come back. Always get better but...my power. Who I am. What I am." She frowns, "Don't get the wrong idea. I don't want to do this. It just happens." She looks at him, "I worry that if anyone found out...they'd freak out." She then blinks, "Please...uh..." She looks at him directly, "...please don't freak out."

Spider-Man has posed:
"Aw schucks." Spidey swats at the air playfully, "I'm just a dude in pajamas punching and kicking my way into oblivion." It is a gross over exageration of what he does, certainly, "But please don't ever stop telling me how cool I am." That part is definitely a joke, defusing an embarassingly awkward moment with humor. Spider-Man 101. This doesn't mean he's not listening, "I don't know when it would come up, but if it ever does, I'll feign ignorance so hard... I do ignorant like nobody else."

huckling quietly, both feet come up to rest feet flat against the half wall he's leaning against. He sombers a little when she explains the nature of her relationship with the spirits, but nods understanding. "Makes sense. They're kind of like a battery for your abilities." Freak out? One eye widens, the other shrinks, "Okay, let's face all the facts, you're a little odd." Never one not to call a spade a spade, "But there's nothing wrong with odd and there's no reason to freak out about it." He's quiet a second, then snap points, "You know what would be a better old movie to describe this? Odd Thomas."

Legit, Peter has a minor in physics and wrote his thesis paper this year on inter-dimensional theory. This is sort of, indirectly, round the butt to get to the elbow, right in his wheelhouse.

Omnis has posed:
"I don't...uh know that movie." She shrugs and purses her lips, "Sorry." She then shifts a little and sighs, "Well, thanks." She states, "I...I kinda don't know why I wanted to tell you about this but you seem kinda..." She shrugs, "You're easy to talk to." Omnis looks down at the people below and then back at him, "I don't want to put heavy stuff on people but I kinda am alone here." She chuckles, "Well, alone-ish." She looks around, "In a way, I am never alone I guess."

Spider-Man has posed:
"I get that a lot." Pete says with a few shallow nods, "Big heart, big ears.. that or that I don't shut up." He's thoughtfully quiet a second, then shrugs, "I can't promise I'll always know exactly what you're going through, but if you ever need to talk, I'm your spider." He stands up from his lean onto feet placed verticle on the wall. "I appreciate you telling me.. actually, I appreciate you feeling comfortable enough with me to tell me." One foot steps up on the ledge followed by the other, standing on the half wall with his arms folded across the top of his head. "I don't know a lot about ghosts, but I know there's at least one person who's passed that I'd love to speak with... But it's always easier to see the benefits from the outside, right?"

With a heavy sigh, Spidey glances backwards, slipping something out from one of the small pockets on his belt and holding it out to Omnis. "This is a sim card. Buy a pay by the minute phone and slip that in and you'll be able to reach me. If you want to talk or send funny cat memes... I love cat memes."

Omnis has posed:
A smile and she takes teh sim card before nodding, "Thanks." She nods her head and then sighs, "And I dont' really control who I see." She shrugs, "They do." She then looks at him, "Be safe, ok?"

Spider-Man has posed:
"A series of seemingly random events are rarely as random as those events might seem." Spidey reasons while rolling his shoulders back, "You too, Omnis. Don't ever let anyone make you feel like you're not a hero, not even yourself. They're wrong and you can tell'em I said so."

His arms spread out and he leaps backwards from the ledge, into a twisting flip, waving exuberantly as he falls. A half second later his webshooter fires and carries him on a line over the busy streets of New York. "Seeya around!" He shouts back at her when he breaks the edge of the roof and aims another line to carry him down an adjacent street.
