Date of Scene: 30 May 2019
Location: Living Quarters, Titans Tower
Synopsis: Summary needed
Cast of Characters: Star Shimmer, Stardust, Starfire, Amarok

Star Shimmer has posed:
The younger of the Earthbound Star Sapphires has been out on patrol most of the evening. Thankfully she hasn't caused any mayhem like she did the day before. She was half expecting to run into Robin at the tower and get chewed out for causing a makeout party in the middle of the bronx. Maybe that was why she got a stack of pizzas?

Happily she enters the tower and makes her way up to the Lounge. Once there, the girl happily takes the pizzas to the kitchen before calling out, "PIZZA'S HERE!!!"

Stardust has posed:
Sirens may blare, emergency alerts may ping, warnings of imminent alien invasion may be broadcast, the trumpets that mark the End of Things may sound. Such things have no more than a fifty/fifty chance of attracting Colette's attention, but a cry of "PIZZA!" works wonders.

Just moments after Autumn's call, Colette comes floating up the empty elevator shaft, dressed in gym gear and wearing a towel around her neck. She's obviously been busy with some fitness training, but obviously not busy enough to delay pizza any longer than is humanly possible. "Heya Pinky! Did someone mention pizza? Did you get the standard order? You know about the special requirements, right? The boxes with the big black X drawn on them, and all that?"

Starfire has posed:
Koriand'r hmmmmmms softly as she was in her room, working on her hair. She is trying a new product and is stying it. She sees a violet light out her window and slips into a sundress as she flies down, using one glowing hand to dry her hair and theo ther to brush it. "Oh - hi Autumn!" she chirps as she enters the living room. She wondres how long it'll take the Silkie to realize his favorite human has entered the building.

Star Shimmer has posed:
Shimmer smiles, "Hey umm... I can power down here. You all knows who I am and its not like you all are going to tell everyone my identity." She smiles and looks at Colette, "Yes I got the usuals and some others too." She is paying attention keeping an eye out for a certain pink bug. When Kory comes out and says her name she just sighs and powers down. She goes from wearing her uniform to wearing a Violet tee-shirt and tight black jeans and a pair of converse style shoes. "There. It feels good to not be in uniform."

Turning to Kory she waves. "Got you a Mustard Speciality. You know the pizza place has turned the Starfire Special into a food challenge for people right?" She laughs a little. "I figured I would get some makeup pizza because while on patrol yesterday I kinda goofed up. I ummm... Stopped two gangs from fighting but also kinda made them start making out." She blushes bright red.

Stardust has posed:
"Hello Autumn, hello Kori, hello Pizza," Colette greets in response to the civilian identities thing. Not that her previously dubbing Autumn 'Pinky' was all that formal. Speedster is not part of her powerset, but the speed with which she locates the safe pizzas and shuffles the mustard ones to Kori is impressive, and indicitive of significant experience.

"Starfire Challenge, huh? Do you have to eat the entire pizza? Kori persuaded me to get through about half of one once. It's not actually as bad as we like to make out. If the pizza is cheesy enough, mustard actually goes really well with all that cheese. It's like a... well, I don't think it goes with the tomato, put it that way. Still, could be worse. Pineapple. Nice dress, Star. "

Colette grabs a slice in each hand then looks at Autumn with a raised eyebrow. "Making out," she repeats, in a flat voice. "Okay. Well it's better than killing each other, but doesn't the whole free will thing worry you?"

Starfire has posed:
Koriand'r wrinkles her nose. "Yeah - pineapple is terrible bitter stuff," she agrees as she goes to town on the pizza. She just gazes at Autumn, smiling softly. "I believe there's a saying around here: 'Make love, not war'?" She hmmmms. "Still working on using your violet light effectively, huh?"

Star Shimmer has posed:
Autumn grabs one of the pizzas she had made up for herself and sits with Kory and Colette. "It does mess with me. I didn't intend to turn it into a love fest. I actually set up a barrier between the two gangs and got them to stop fighting. I think I accidentally projected my love though because next thing I know it looked like a highschool hallway." She shrugs.

Quietly she grabs a slice of her pizza out. It has an alfredo sauce on it. Spinach, Italian sauage, black olives, bacon, and onion. It definitely smells good. She takes a bite and smiles bright. "Umm, Actually, I've gotten a lot more control over it. The problem is, I kinda am getting stronger. I guess my ring was keeping me cut off from all of my power so I wouldn't cause trouble? Now its getting really intense. I mean I can feel love all the way to Pluto!"

Stardust has posed:
"And that's why some people think the entire Lantern concept is a bad idea I guess," Colette comments between mouthfuls. "I get that. I mean it's a path to power, but if you focus on one part of the emotional spectrum, you're... you know. Out of balance. Still, if half of what I've been told about Maltusians is..." she stops herself, looks sideways at Autumn and shrugs her shoulders. "Probably easier to have it all built in like Kori here, right? Biological. Slurp energy out of the sunlight and use that. Emotions just don't come across as being a reliable source of power. On the other hand, you can't be defeated by suntan lotion. So are you back on Earth for a while now, Autumn?"

Starfire has posed:
Koriand'r nods slowly as she is going quiet for now, just eatnig. Meanwhile, the Silkie makes an appearance and snuggles against Autumn, churring softly and gazing up at her adorably. She smiles at the love bug as she eats antoher slice. "I don't get why people think this pizza is nasty," she muses softly. "It tastes very good." As if she's willfully ignorant of her inverted tastes compared to Terrans.

Star Shimmer has posed:
Star Shimmer smiles and gives a slice of pizza to the Silkie knowing that is what he really wants. Still she pets him a little and shows some love to the cute bug. "Its a rough situation to be honest. I can maintain my emotions very well. I am just more worried about losing myself to the love within me. That makes it more difficult.

She takes a few bites of pizza and smiles, "So ummm... I wanted to ask about a room here at the tower? I kinda don't really fit back in Gotham anymore. I mean yeah I can dress down but, all it takes is one slip up and I know Batman will be annoyed and I don't want the bat pissed at me."

Stardust has posed:
Colette nods her head thoughtfully. "Batso is pretty protective about Gotham. Uh... about protecting Gotham. Protective about who gets to protect it. You know what I mean. I kind of understand his logic. Gotham isn't like other places. It's kind of insane. But it's kind of like... his theory is that if one side ups the stakes, the other side will too. He's not exactly happy about me being there, I'd imagine a Lantern turning up would really get on his nerves. Best to leave him to it. And... yeah. The whole emotional thing. Doesn't really make you the most... you know what I mean."

Colette finishes her second slice and hops over to the computer, tapping away at the screen. "Okay with you, Star? I mean... we can give her access to one of the guest rooms for now. If..." she gives an non-commital shrug. "Well, if things work out, we could look at getting you something permanent..." She taps a final key with a flourish. "Room 27," she says. "Furnishings are really basic, but you can move some stuff in."

Star Shimmer has posed:
Autumn looks at Colette, "Ummm... You know I am not a danger right?" She frowns a little and eats more of her pizza. She grabs another slice and gives it to the Silkie who seems more than thrilled to devour it. "In the past year I have had to take care of this sector myself. Sector 2814 is not a quiet sector and Earth is completely insane. That says a lot. A rookie like me was handling it. I just. I get what you're saying but, you know I am trying my hardest to not mess up right?" She frowns and sighs

"Okay Its not like I am going to cause any trouble. I mean I try my best to not cause grief."

Stardust has posed:
"Not true, Autumn." Colette's response comes across as very conversational and unjudgemental, given what she's actually saying. "Trying your hardest, sure. Of course. I see that. Not a danger? Absolutely wrong. If you weren't a danger, you wouldn't be any good as a Lantern, or as a Titan. If everything goes as planned? Sure, you're not a danger. If it doesn't go as planned, any of us are a huge danger."

Colette retrieves some more pizza and flops back down into the sofa. "You're using a power source that is not exactly the easiest thing to control. I mean... take green, for example. As I understand it, green is supposed to be the most stable. Greenies have been a huge danger from time to time. Your guys? Some people who've used the same power source you are using have been seduced by it and done some pretty awful things, I heard. But yes, I do get that you're trying to do the right thing. That's why we let you through the front door." She flashes Autumn a wink. "And yeah, Earth is crazy. You're not handling it on your own though. There's a lot of people putting in, one way or the other. And you should be doing... well..." she glances over at Kori. "This. Joining with others, like us. Rather than sticking with your own crowd. 'Cos that way things are more balanced."

Amarok has posed:
Almost as soon as Colette says the word 'balanced', the smell of semi-dried blood creeps into the room, followed shortly thereafter by Amarok, a few fresh cuts on his armor and signs of badly wiped away blood on the face of the helmet. He stops as he notices the small group and slowly scans his gaze over them, "....I'm going to guess one of you pinged the security alert?" He says in a monotone, flicking his gaze to each in turn, holding only a second before jarringly twitching over to the next.

Starfire has posed:
Koriand'r nods. "The Emotional Spectrum is a rainbow. The center is stable - green. The edges - red and violet - are terribly volatile." She shrugs. "That's what I've heard along the way." She sighs softly as she just sets the rest of her pizza to the side and just starts fussing with her hair again. "Well... yeah. But sometimes it's so hard to fit in here on this world. I mean - the tensions against mutants is getting so bad, and aliens might as well be lumped in..."

Star Shimmer has posed:
Autumn frowns and closes her pizza box. "You hear the stories. You haven't the foggiest what its like to actually carry the weight. Colette, You wanna find out just how intense the this is? I can give you a taste of it." She raises a ringed fist and the ring shimmers. Another ring forms on top of her pizza box. "This is a Deputy ring it will give you the same power I have for a short time."

Then in comes Dan. "This will be good. Okay, If you're nice, there is pizza out there. If you're not, I will just find somewhere to go." She looks at Kory and nods, "Yeah. Thats true. The violet is volatile but in good hands, it is a very good thing. I'm trying my hardest to be an example of the good."

Stardust has posed:
"Moon Moon, your idea of a security alert?" Colette doesn't turn when she addresses him, she's too busy checking through the pizza boxes for something without mustard. "Could be anything. Maybe someone sneezed in a strategically unwise fashion. Besides, your security systems are fundamentally flawed. The alarms don't get triggered by Beast Boy's socks, and I don't think the tower has ever faced a greater danger. "

Colette nods her agreement to Kori. "Yeah. How does that thing go? They came for the mutants and I did not speak up for them, because I was not a mutant. Then they came for the aliens and I did not speak up for them, because I was not an alien. Then they came for the cyborgs, and I did not speak up for them because I was not a cyborg. When they came for me, there was nobody left to speak up for me. Right?"

Autumn's gift of a deputy ring elicits a long and suspicious stare from Colette. Finally she speaks up. "No thanks, Autumn. I better not. There's a whole bunch of stuff going on in here... " she gestures at her head, "... which might interact with that in a bad way. Not worth the risk. "

Amarok has posed:
Amarok glances over Autumn as she takes offence to his presence. A common reaction among, well, everybody who's ever met him. He glances over at the newly spawned ring, "....Funny. I think they said the same thing about nukes during the Cold War." Clearly his opinion of Autumn's snazzy bling is as high as ever. He gives Kori a quick glance, tilting his head appraisingly at her a few times, "....Mutants and aliens are hated because they're different, like any minority. The reason it's getting so explosive is because they're a form of different that cant be easily beaten down into submission...But I'm afraid I dont have anything of value to add to such a...discussion." Colette's remarks draw his gaze back to her in a snap, "Your own argument is flawed. Beast Boy doesn't wear socks, those are just the collection of horrors congealing on his feet." His tone remains mono, but that sounded like it may have been meant as a joke...Hmm. He then tilts his head at here paraphrasing, but says nothing of it. When Colette draws things back around to the ring, denying it, Amarok looks it over again, ".......Sorry. I'm not the....most stable, of individuals..." He says with a bit of a twitch, glancing away like he's trying to avoid looking at something.

Starfire has posed:
Koriand'r snorts. "That is the understatement of the year, Amarok," she muses as she just stretches out, finally setting down the hairbrush as she snaps her fingers, and the Silkie wriggles over to her, a slice of pizza hanging out of its mouth. "Autumn - you probably shouldn't hand out love rings. I mean - if you who has wielded it for a while still have trouble with it - one of us would have a lot of difficulty."

Star Shimmer has posed:
Autumn shakes her head, "The thing about Deputy rings, the person who make them can make deal with the problems that can arise." She quickly brushes through the air pretty much just for show. The second ring bursts into crystaline dust and vanishes. "I wouldn't leave anyone hanging like that." She sighs and just rubs her head. "You know the whole reason was to show that its not just some game. I'm actually doing pretty darn good using the power of love to make a positive change in the galaxy. I really am." She might sound like she's trying to convince herself at this point.

Idly she grabs a can of diet cola and sips at it. "I'm sorry."

Stardust has posed:
"Don't be defensive about it, Autumn." Colette raises an eyebrow in Amarok's direction, but says nothing to him. Apparently she has observed his humorous intent. Normally his jokes are more tasteless than commenting on Beast Boy's foot-growths, and she's taken slightly by surprise. She looks back to Autumn. "We're not criticizing you. We're warning you. You have something extremely powerful there, and it's important to be careful with it. If you're aware of a danger, it's a lot easier to avoid it. If you go around assuming things will work out, you're not going to see all the dangers. Example. You assume the person who made the deputy ring can deal with the problems that can arise. You're not taking into account that the deputy ring would not be the only power source in the equation, and you have zero idea about what the other power source is, so how the two sources interact? No guarantee you could deal with it at all. You're making assumptions. In this biz, assumptions have a nasty tendency to bite you on the ass eventually. Kori and Amarok will tell you the same thing.

Amarok has posed:
Amarok nods to Colette's warnings, "...I knew a guy over in....hmm...I think it was somewhere around Lebanon. Always kept telling his squad that if they just stayed positive, everything would work itself out. One day he was giving his speach about it, and a sniper caught him in the back of the neck, .308 hollow point, took his head clean off. Worst part was, he was his squad's medic. I think only one of them made it out of that one. Cuz he got fed up with the speeches and left as it was starting....Point is, he was so positive things would work out just fine, he ignored basic precautions and got a whole lot of people killed for it....That said, beware does not mean be afraid, it means be aware. Be aware of the risks and calculate them into your decisions. As long as you dont let sentiment sway your decisions, you should be able to guide yourself well enough."

Starfire has posed:
Koriand'r sighs softly. "Komand'r," she mutters softly, referring to her sister. "Her lust of power doomed my world. When she got it, she became even worse. I don't know if the ring would even accept me. I think red would be more my color." She just looks down. "Yes, I know I seem like a silly girl at times - but... inside is a seething cauldron of hate. I... just... sometimes I just fly to the moon just to blast stuff. To let it out. I don't have much love for anyone. Certainly not myself, the princess who let her world fall."

Star Shimmer has posed:
Autumn takes a deep breath, "I know full well the gravity of the power I wield. I know how devestating it can be. I have seen with my own eyes the aftermath of those who have lost control and succumbed to their rings. Do you honestly believe I take this lightly? I am terrified of what can happen if I lose myself." She sighs. "If I do lose control... It will take everyone of you to stop me and even that might not be enough. You say I'm assuming things will work out... I'm not. I'm giving my all to make sure they do work out. Thankfully I have a break where I can actually train and learn to better handle this stuff. Star Sapphire is back on Earth. She has told me she would help me to learn some techniques to keep from sucumbing to my ring."

Stardust has posed:
Colette listens to the stories Amarok and Starfire come up with, then turns to Autumn with a shrug. "It's the team thing, Autumn. We're all different. All got our own things going on. Amarok's story is stark and bloody and pretends he lacks emotion. Kori's is tragic and woe-filled and pretends she lacks a big heart. Both of them have their own things they're hiding from, but they still get past that to offer you advice. Because the team isn't just about our powers complementing each other, it's about our differences complementing each other too. We're stronger together, not just because of each other's powers and skills, but because we're all lacking experience, but between us the experience we do have kinda.... stacks up. "

With a couple of quick bites, Colette polishes off her last slice, and wipes her hands off on the towel she still has draped over her shoulders. "This isn't us believing you take it lightly, this is us helping you not to. Because it's not necessary to bear that burden alone. That's pretty much what a team is about."

Colette gets to her feet. "I really ought to finish my workout. Thanks for the pizzas, Autumn. I was hungry! Great call." She waves to Kori and Silkie, and snaps a really sloppy salute to Amarok, before walking to the elevator shaft and dropping into it.

After a moment, she bobs back up, hovering in the shaft. "Actually Autumn, if you did lose control, there are four members of the team who would have a good chance of stopping you on their own. Not telling you who though." She gives a wink. "But we'd be much better team mates if we could stop you before you lose control, no?"

Amarok has posed:
Amarok glances to Koriand'r, "...If a red ring has been ignoring me, I dont think you have anything to worry about..." He says with a wipe at the blood on his helmet, wiping the hand on one of the exposed and still semi-clean areas of his fatiques, "I dont get like this from an overflow of compassion, afterall..." Autumn's strangling of her own inner panic returns Amarok's cold gaze to her, "....I believe you're hyperfocusing on the possible repercussions to the point of loss of control. The ring, just by being such a focal point, is controlling your life. If you let it continue, sooner or later it will control your body as well. I recommend you take the ring off, and only put it on when you need it. Control /IT/. Dont let it control /YOU/." Colette's run through draws an irritated grunt at her comments on a him, and as she wanders off, he clears his throat, "...I should finish my sweep of the tower and get back out there....Need to practice my....heh heh heh...penmanship." He says cryptically before walking off as Colette floats back up.
