Cast of Characters: Cypher, Sunspot

Cypher has posed:
...The car is a Shelby Cobra, also known as an AC Cobra -- like from the song. It has seen better days. In fact it has seen bad days that were better than the day it's having right now. It's up on jacks in the garage, and it's currently in the stage where the parts of its guts which are ruined beyond all hope of repair -- which is pretty much all of them, to tell you the truth. Right now, its owner is a pair of legs sticking out from under the car, singing along to what's blaring from the speaker plugged into his phone. "Sarah, Ali, Kiki, Hayley, Raquel, Sophie, Jo, Mercedes, mad honeys with the shapely thighs, soft hands dark tans and the almond eyes--" There's the sound of a ratchet working and then a *thunk* and a soft "Damn it, OW."

Sunspot has posed:
Roberto doesn't have a car in the garage of the mansion. Instead he keeps one in a private one in Salem Center. The main reasons are that a) he can fly and b) he doesn't want to share his jaguar. Cars here tend to get 'borrowed' by people like Gambit.

And sometimes they end up like that AC Cobra. Because that is the modern mutant lifestyle. And that is fine, but if his million dollars sport car is going to be wrecked (and yes, it will happen sooner or later) he wants to be there to do the wrecking or avenge the wrecking.

So there is no particular reason for Roberto to be here, except he is back after a long absence and he wanted to re-familiarize with all the corners of the school. He is not surprised someone is working in the guts of a car. He barely pays attention. Likely Cyclops or Wolverine, or someone he doesn't know. Until he hears the voice, and recognizes it. "Doug?" Pause. He steps closer, "what are you doing here?"

Cypher has posed:
There's another thump, as Doug jerks upward and hits his head again. Thump. "OW!"

Then he slides out from under the car. "Bobby!" He says. He gets to his feet, and then moves to grab a rag, to wipe the grease off his hands. "Just... working on my car." He says. "I needed a project, and this was in some old lady's barn. Kurt just bought my cabin off me, and she was getting rid of it for ten grand." He leans on the car's rusty fender, and looks at it. "So I'm learning about cars by taking this one apart and fixing it up. It's little, fierce, and it needs a second life." Maybe he sees something of himself in that Cobra.

Then he glances up. "What's up?"

Sunspot has posed:
"I thought you were more an electronics than a mechanics kind of guy," comments Roberto with a faint smirk. "Then again we are here to learn, hmm? Speaking of learning, I have been busy but I wanted to know... well, last I knew you were dead and buried. It was not a case of we never found the corpse, or maybe it wasn't Doug."

And it is weird to talk to Doug about this. He is too... Doug-like. Maybe a clone got killed? "Well, I wanted to know, if it is not a secret. How did you manage to survive?"

Cypher has posed:
Doug scratches his head, scratch-scratch. And then he sighs, and says, "Oh-kay. Walk with me, talk with me." he turns, to walk, after tossing the grimy rag aside. "So. Remember those times I was merged with Warlock, and how he always warned me that if I spent too much time merged with him, I might catch the techno-organic virus? Well, he was right, and I was infected with it when I died."

"Somebody used it to resurrect me, so they could use me to bypass the X-Men's security system. It didn't take... and here I am. Surprise?" He blinks, and gives Roberto a disingenuous look.

"...I hear my funeral was very nice. Lots of flowers."

Sunspot has posed:
"I mostly remember the crying, and the self-blaming," replies Roberto bleakly. He also gives Doug a careful glance, just in the case he is actually made of alien circuitry. But then again, Xavier wouldn't have him working in the garage if he was contagious or dangerous, right?

Although the Professor judgment in some issues has not been perfect in the past. A shocking discovery he made upon reflecting on his last five years of life.

'A super-criminal healed me when my friends and teacher wouldn't do shit' is also pretty depressing.

Cypher has posed:
Doug gives Roberto a sidelong look. "...It's in remission." He says. "Not even detectable in my blood count unless you use special instruments. I'm not going to be giving anyone a blood transfusion for their own safety unless it's like, life or death."

He considers, and then scratches his head. "Look. We never got along when we were alive. But I don't want it to be that we can only talk to one another when the other's dead." Yeah, that... that thing. With Mojo. He gives Bobby a sideways look. "There wasn't anything you could do. And you have to believe me, if I had been given the choice of 'come back but try to kill the X-Men' or 'stay dead' I would've stayed dead." He awkwardly pats Bobby on the shoulder. "So. Yeah! Aside from lingering post-traumatic stress and co-morbid depression, I'm great! ...How are YOU?"

Sunspot has posed:
How are you? Weeell. "I am fine," which is mostly true, he is fine now.

"It has been a rough couple years. I did some growing up," like he had no choice, either. "Took over the family business," due to murder. "And now I am back with a few ideas and plenty of money to spend. Because you can throw money to a lot of problems and make them vanish. It works. Sometimes."

Cypher has posed:
Doug considers that, for a moment.

Then, he quirks his mouth to the side. He turns, and he hugs Roberto. It's a guy-hug, a squish around the ribs. "...It's good to see you again. I'm sorry I was such a prick to you, back then. We were just kids. Just... stupid kids. It doesn't matter anymore. What happened to us... it's in the past, all right? We're here now."

Sunspot has posed:
Manly hugs are a Latino thing, so Roberto is not startled. Although Doug of all people, well. He hugs back, patting the blonde's back. "Yes. The reasons I disliked you were pretty idiotic. Er... actually just childish." He smirks, "I will find better ones this time around," he decides. "Like this hug with the car grease. But I will get over it, too."

Cypher has posed:
"I wiped my hands first." Doug says, before he lets Roberto go, and then he's left standing there, looking sort of awkward. "So." He lets his hands drop to his sides. "...I saw the club, it's nice." He puffs out his cheeks and lets out a slow whistle, "...How's your mom?" Then he murmurs "Listen. Ah. We never really learned to be friends, before. I'd like to -- to try. If only for Warlock. He really liked you, and it drove me crazy. It just... felt like he didn't need me anymore. I missed the writing on the wall, which was that it was my chance to be your friend, too. So." He rocks backward on his heels. "How does one be friends with a guy who's on the cover of Estame, Epoca, Gestão e Negócios, Contigo, and Placar, all in the *same month*--"

Sunspot has posed:
"Mon is fine. Ish," replies Roberto with a shrug. "Trying to save the world her own style. And at least she doesn't have to worry about Da Costa International wrecking anything important right now." Or Roberto's father being an ass. Instead, she misses him for the times he wasn't as ass. Just like Roberto does.

"I am going to be around, and... I have business here," points out Roberto. "Most of which are not about money. Although I have to talk with the Professor about that. Maybe with Warren Worthington too. I'll tell you later."

Cypher has posed:
"Well." Doug says. "...Now I'm *curious*." He gives Bobby a curious look. "Come on. Spill." He says. "...You know if you need it I could do some translation work for you on the side. Considering, I'm *cheap*. I mean, heck..." He looks at the door to the garage. "If you can help me find the parts for that bad boy, I'll call it tradesies!"

Sunspot has posed:
Roberto laughs. "If you want to fix that yourself, do it yourself. I would just delegate that on a minion, I don't have time to tinker with cars. Man, I barely play soccer anymore. And I need to talk with Xavier about my projects first. They might be impossible, or a danger for the school. Or too early to try, or too late. I need his advice."

Cypher has posed:
"I think after he got shot and Doctor Reyes leaned on him, the Professor might've recused himself a bit. But we can talk to Jean and even, eugh... Emma, and see what we can do for you. Sam and I, man, we've got your back. Os três mosqueteiros. So." He says, "...Want to hand me tools and laugh whenever I hit my head on something working on that car? See if you can count the number of brain cells I lose?

Sunspot has posed:
Eugh. Emma. Yes, Roberto needs to somehow get along with Emma Frost. It is important. He is... not in a hurry to do it. "I'll talk to Jean, good point," he nods. "I am going to have to pass at seeing you hit your head, as fun as it sounds. I had a break I wanted to use to see the grounds, and actually talking to you was better, but now I need to get back to New York."

Cypher has posed:
Doug tilts his head, and then says, "...Right." He thinks about that for a time, and then he says, "...Let's go, then. I mean. We haven't actually hung out since--" ...Yeah. "No reason to end the party now, right? Not when New York's right there and the sushi's fresh all night." He gestures outward. "...This is my second life, hot-shot. I'm not gonna make the same mistakes I made the first time around. I'm gonna make all new ones."
