Drinking Jason's Beer
Date of Scene: 03 June 2019
Location: Brownstone - Gotham
Synopsis: Carrie, Rogue and Kitty gather for a little underage drinking at home as Carrie sports a changed look.
Cast of Characters: Carrie Kelley, Shadowcat, Rogue

Carrie Kelley has posed:
The Gotham brownstone that was Jason Todd's appartment was currently being used as home base for a meeting of friends. Carrie had asked to see Kitty, and Rogue coming along was completely welcomed. More advice might be good after all. She'd chipped in for some pizza, and brought some Coke along as well so they wouldn't just be raiding his cupboards. Even though that did happen on occasion.

Carrie had arrived wearing a baseball cap with her hair tucked up underneath it. It's kept there in spite of doing other things to relax, like kicking her sandals off at the door. Otherwise she's just wearing shorts, and a t-shirt, and the hat keeping her hair constrained. She looks to the other two with a little long sigh. "I ... Kind of did something impulsively and I'm not sure how good it worked out. Someone told me I reminded him of his first crush because I look like her, so..."

Her head ducks down, and she reaches up to grasp the bill of the hat. It's tugged off letting her hair spill free revealing it to be a light brown that didn't quite go with her complexion. She looks back giving a helpless shrug.

Shadowcat has posed:
Kitty Pryde greeted her friends at the door. Rogue was given a little tour of the house. The bedroom is upstairs, and there is a little meditation and training area behind some screens in one of the downstairs rooms. "Hey Carrie," Kitty greeted as she ushered her friend in.

A beer is offered as Kitty eyes the pizza hungrily. "Oh I'm so hungry. You are a life-saver," Kitty says, getting a slice and then going to sit down in a chair. She tosses a slice of pepperoni to Lockheed who scarfs it down.

Kitty watches as Carrie reveals her hair. "Wow. You look good," Kitty says. "Can't choose a better color!" says the similarly brown-haired girl. "Are you keeping the style? Growing it longer? Going to change it up?" she asks before taking a bite of her pizza. "We should see if we can get you a little sun. Or are you just going to fry?"

Rogue has posed:
Rogue accepts the beer from Kitty, and after the tour, she keeps on snooping around. Really she's just walking around and running her green eyes over everything. Dressed in a dark blue denim jacket over a green tank top, she's got a brown leather choker around her neck with a silver (X) affixed to the front of the little leather collar, black jeans and leather boots a up to her ankles complete her ensemble.

A sip of the beer is taken as she approaches where the other two are and she grins softly, listening,

One gloved hand is on the back of a chair, the other holds her drink. She watches Lockheed scarf the pizza slice down which makes her just grin and shake her head before she looks over to the other two. "You didn't sleep with this guy just cause he told ya that, did ya?" She boldly dives right in.

Carrie Kelley has posed:
Carrie Kelley ruffles her hair out a bit as it was still a little frizz dried from the dying. "Yeah it's a nice color, but I'm so pale... and yes I would burn. Maybe fake tan," she considers thoughtfully as she reaches for a slice of pizza. It's a good thing that Rogue speaks before that bite though because she coughs violently at that. "No! No... that's why he turned me down. *Again.*" There's a hint of hurt to her tone, but she shakes her head and just chomps down on the slice of pizza. It's set back down on a paper plate as she leans back into her seat with a sigh.

"I apparently am his type, but he doesn't want to hurt me and yadda yadda yadda." Her hand waves as if it's rather unimportant overall.

Shadowcat has posed:
Kitty Pryde gives a little wince and says to Carrie. "Ah. Him," she says softly. Kitty wipes her fingers on a napkin before moving over to give Carrie a warm hug. "Well, you know, I get the impression he is the type who might hurt you," Kitty says. "I mean, he screams 'player' if I've ever met one. But he does have an amazing ass, so I feel you," Kitty says gently, offering a second hug.

After, she'll settle back into a seat. Not mind Rogue looking about the place. It's probably sparse on food in the pantry, but far better than when Kitty first saw the house. "A fake tan might be nice. That's one thing about brown hair, it looks really good with a little tan to go with it," she says. "Want to go hit one of those salons for one tomorrow? Or buy a bottle and have a go ourselves?" she asks. Kitty has been getting some sun this summer, so the comment about tans and brunettes can be proven with herself. Not to mention Rogue who is always tan.

Rogue has posed:
Rogue just sips her her drink and kinda grins at what they're saying. "Oh, yeah... you were red." She says then. "I'm sorry, I know so many redheads, its startin' t'get jumbled up inside'a my head." She then nods once, affirmatively. "I like it. I don't like that ya did it for the sake'a some guy, nice ass or not, but still. If ya wanted change, then I'm glad ya jumped for change. I tried dyin' the white outta mine, but the dye just washes right on out." She slaps her hand against the back of the chair then.

Rogue looks to Kitty and shakes her head. "No rub on tans or salons, jus' go lay outside for twenty or thirty minutes every day. You'll be tanned up in a week or so."

Another sip of the drink is had and then she has to ask. "Who's this guy and why would he ever turn ya down? You're gorgeous."

Carrie Kelley has posed:
Carrie Kelley leans into the hug Kitty offers with a simple nod of agreement at all she says. "That's what he thinks too," she mumbles sounding not-entirely-convinced. It still hurt one way or another after all. At least the talk of a salon has her considering. "Maybe. That might be nice to do regardless, go to a salon. Get my nails done maybe." She glances down at the blunt-cut nails on her hand with a shrug. It wouldn't help a lot one way or another.

"Glancing back over to Rogue she chuckles quietly. "I was pissed off. It seemed like a good way to flip him off in a way.... But thinking about it now, it's kind of stupid." Her fingers tug at the end of her hair. "Not sure how long it'll stay in but it's a change at least. I could use that I think." Quietly chuckling at the other question her head shakes. "Apparently he's not up for anything besides casual, and I remind him of his first crush, and he's afraid he might like me just because of that. I mean it sounds like he's trying to do the right thing. I guess? But I feel like I'm being yanked along somehow. He keeps seeming interested, then pushing me away. First time he ended up getting back with a girlfriend he broke up with. This time he's... not looking for anything serious and he's already seeing someone casually. So I *am* probably dodging a huge bullet."

Carrie shifts forward to grab for a drink with a chuckle. "Sorry. I'm just being a big downer right now. It's not a big deal. Not like I know what I'm missing anyway."

Shadowcat has posed:
Kitty Pryde tilts her bottle of beer back. It's called Shiner Bock, from somewhere in Texas. Regular beer, but with a little more flavor than the normal Budweiser sorts of beers. Kitty glances at it, giving an approving look. "Well, if he does think it has something to do with him, just drop him a line from that Carly Simon song. You're so vain, you probably my think my hair is about you. Something like that?" she says with a grin.

"Well, we've got enough beer we can drink the blues away. And you can stay here tonight," she says. Lockheed meanwhile hops up and flies over to land gently on Carrie's shoulder. He nuzzles his muzzle into her hair and then curls up there around her neck if she allows. "I think he likes it," Kitty says with a warm grin for Carrie. She rises and goes over to get another slice of pizza. "So Rogue, did you always have the white, or was it something from someone else?" she asks.

Rogue has posed:
Rogue softly exhales and shakes her haed at it all. "I'm sorry he didn't pan out for ya, Carrie. Men are weird. I mean... eh, nevermind." She shakes those last thoughts away and smiles when Lockheed goes to help offer some moral support to the newly hairstyled Carrie. "Well, you look great either way, Carrie." She states before she turns and starts to walk ever so slowly around the table for no particular reason...

When Kitty asks that question about her own hair she steps though and looks back at her friend. It takes a second before she shakes her head, that same hair is straight and brushed smooth, wavingly gently against the sides of her face in its pure white snow-like appearance. "It happened the night my parents vanished." She said then. "I never really got answers about it, till my dad came back last month. He told me it means I touched the edge'a one'a the... gateways that they were taken through. I guess if ya touch'em stuff like this happens. Like how there were white marks in the grass after they closed the gates."

Rogue softly clears her throat then. "He says my mother's hair is mostly entirely white, last time he saw her anyway. Guess she touched the edges of the gate while tryin' t'get away from the people who took her. I dunno..." Rogue turns then and starts to walk toward the living room area.

Carrie Kelley has posed:
Carrie Kelley smiles when Lockheed comes up to curl around her neck. She does support him, and even reaches up to pet against the bridge of his nose and between his ears lightly with a quiet murmer of, "Thanks." Dragon hugs were good too.

The question Kitty asks Rogue earns a lift of eyebrow from her. "Picked up somewhere?" It seems she might ask more, but there's no reason to as it stands. The explanation that comes from Rogue causes her to frown heavily as a far more important issue comes up. "Wait, are your parents okay now? Is your mom still missing?" Boys were boys. This was a family thing for Rogue. Even as she asks though she reaches out to snag one of those beers of Jason's to crack it open and sip on thoughtfully. Maybe a little drunk wouldn't hurt.

Shadowcat has posed:
Kitty Pryde sips from her Shiner Bock and nods slowly at Rogue's answer, her eyes compassionate. "We'll get her back," she says determinedly. Kitty glances over to Carrie then as the now-brunette asks about Kitty's choice of wording. "Do you know much about Rogue's powers? Beside her being super strong and flying and of course sexy enough all the boys stare and their tongues hang out of their mouths?" she asks, flashing a teasing grin towards Rogue at the last part.

Kitty doesn't provide more elaboration though on the rest, glancing over to Rogue and letting her tell about her family matters as she chooses. Lockheed, meanwhile, seems more than happy to nest on Carrie's shoulder, leaning his head into any fond touches he's given. Kitty smiles towards the dragon. He seems to usually pick up her feelings about other people and mirror them to some extent. Which makes it a sure thing he'll like Carrie.

Rogue has posed:
Rogue stops when she hears the question asked her way, she turns back to look at Carrie and after a second she releases a light and short laugh--the kind of laugh that is expressing amusement at something that is ridiculous. "Its hard to explain in a way that is... swallowable. The short've it is, my parents were hippies, big time comune livin' hippies, and they'n their friends delved inta shit they shouldn't have... some Cult leader comes along, takes a fancy t'my mom and kidnapped her. My dad got caught up in it tryin' t'save her, and well... they all vanished inta an alternate reality for the past 14 years."

She takes another bigger sip of the tastey Texas beer and then lowers it down to her chest level again, she grins at Kitty's praise of her. "I wish that were so." She says about how people react to her physicality. "I don't know what I've told Carrie about me..." She looks back to Carrie. "Nobody can touch my skin, without me suckin' their soul outta their bodies and any mutations or powers they may have too." She tips her beer to the dragon. "Cept non-humans, like Lockness there. Animals'n such are safe from my wrath too. Just not... people. My body kills'em if they even just lay a finger on my cheek for a few seconds." Rogue runs her tongue along her lips then for a moment to gather up the drink taste.

"I'm great t'have at parties, huh?" She then grins.

Carrie Kelley has posed:
Carrie Kelley continues to absently pet Lockheed, tipping her cheek down against his side in a fond way. It was nice to have a snuggle buddy of sorts. Her attention moves from Kitty to Rogue as she listens to the explanations. "I knew there was something about touching that was an issue for you," she admits with a nod, "But I didn't really ask otherwise. That's like some monkey's paw type ability right there."

"I'm sorry about your parents. If you need help at all..." She gives a careful shrug so as to not dislodge Lockheed unless he wanted to. Instead she takes another sip of her beer wrinkling her nose just a bit. Beer was still one of those things she was getting used to the flavor of as she typically only had it when here. Given the age thing. Oops.

"Sounds like a heck of a complicated life either way."

Shadowcat has posed:
Kitty listens to Rogue relate her situation to Carrie. Her expression is quiet, not quite somber, but there's that look of someone who has seen so many of her mutant friends have to pay prices for their powers. She knows that she has been relatively lucky in that regard. Other than accidentally taking out a lot of cell phones in her lifetime, Kitty has not had the kind of issues that someone like Rogue, or a Beast or Kurt, have.

"There's a window we have, where we can get to where she's being held," Kitty says. "Though it's not without dangers." Kitty looks to Rogue. "I think we need Illyana. Or someone else who can teleport a group back from another dimension, if not, just in case. I mentioned it to her, I think she's willing."

Kitty looks down at her beer, peeling the corner of the label back, then taking another sip. She gets up and goes to get another round, bringing them back and passing them out. "To good friends," she says, offering to clink her bottle against theirs.

Rogue has posed:
Rogue shrugs her shoulders inside of that dark blue denim jacket she's wearing, looks brand new, but as Kitty would know she owns a lot of clothes that are brand new and never worn. "I used t'be pretty down about it all, especially in my early teens. I was deeeeeep inta the Goth Girl phase back then, even used t'do the opposite'a tanning creams t'tryin' look more sickly Goth. I'm over that now. Time t'be happy for what I do got. Xavier's has helped me realize that..."

As Kitty brings the booze over, Rogue sets the empty down on the table and takes the fresh one, she'll clink her bottle with the other and nod her head. "Now I'm gonna just be along the ride'a life, lookin' out for the best parts an' smashin' all the shit ones with a good hard fist." She sips the beer, and then grins. "Or somethin'..."

Carrie Kelley has posed:
Carrie Kelley tips her drink back to gulp down the last few mouthfuls before reaching for the new one that Kitty brought. She clinks it with theirs grinning at the toast, "To friends," she agrees with a nod, and sinks back to sit comfortably once more. "Hey I'm good with punching things that need punching. Though I probably don't hit as hard as you do," she mentions to Rogue with a chuckle of amusement. "And to telling guys to go take a hike. Excepting Jason of course," she adds toward Kitty, then looks to her shoulder. 'And Lockheed. They're okay I guess."

Shadowcat has posed:
Lockheed pops his head up and gives Carrie's cheek a lick. Damn straight he's ok! Kitty grins and clinks beers with her friends and then takes a long sip. "You've got a great attitude, Anna-Marie. I know you've had to overcome a lot. But there's people I know who have nowhere near the situation you do, who just convince themselves to be miserable all of the time." She waggles a finger at Rogue. "We need to get you to teach a life coaching class at the school!" she says with a grin.

Kitty settles back into a chair, barefoot and pulling her legs up cross-legged in the seat. "Jason is a pretty good one. You never know when someone's going to just show up though. I mean, I went looking for a painting of Illyana as a little girl, when I met him," she says. Kitty glances up at the ceiling. "First date after that, he took me up to the roof and had a movie projector set up. We could do that some night if'd like, go have a movie night up there?"

Rogue has posed:
Rogue grins at Carrie's words and when she sees Kitty pull her feet up onto a chair she finally pulls a chair out to sit down herself. She lenas back in it and crosses her lets at the knees, her bottle set down atop the upper most knee. "Ya know, the hardest part'a bout the strength I got from Carol? It was learnin' how t'put pants on in the mornin' and not rip them into shreds when ya tug'em up. I went through soooo many pairs, doin' that. Cause I'm like 'Shit, I gotta get t'class!' and then riiiip." She smirks lightly, bottle going up to hover in front of her lips. "But I mean, I broke a lotta stuff at first. Especially before I came t'Xavier's."

Rogue grins to Kitty, then sips her drink and shakes her head. After swallowing the booze down she speaks out again. "I'd probably run outta stuff t'talk about after fifteen minutes'a runnin' my mouth off, then be stuck with a buncha kids in a room just starin' at me."

Carrie Kelley has posed:
Carrie Kelley grins at the lick to her cheek which earns Lockheed another little scritch of approval. Yeah that was cute. The mention of movies on the rooftop earn a small hum of thought from her. "That sounds kind of cool. I didn't know he had a setup like that. Not surprised, just didn't know," she adds with a little laugh as she leans her own chair back on two legs lightly careful of the balance.

"Oh teaching isn't that hard. A lot of it is just getting up there, asking a question, then having them talk or ask questions back. You'd be surprised how much kids just want to be heard. Of course sometimes it IS hard getting the talking going in the first place," she has to admit quietly. "And teaching acting is way different."

Shadowcat has posed:
Kitty Pryde nods in agreement with Carrie. "It was scary at first, had to teach some of the intro classes as a TA. But yeah, you kind of find your rhythm pretty fast. I bet you wouldn't have any problem coming up with stuff, Rogue," Kitty says, using her friend's codename and real name interchangeably. "If you were really interested in it too, I bet we could make it happen," she suggests.

Kitty glances over to Carrie to ask, "So how has school been, anyway? Are you taking any summer classes? Or just waiting for the new semester to start up?" Kitty takes a sip of her beer and looks to Rogue, saying, "We should go visit campus her with her sometime. I've never been to Gotham U. Well, ok, except for up on a few rooftops."

Rogue has posed:
Rogue grins at Lockheed and Carrie. "I think he likes your hair color just fine, Carr." She says. "All flirty'n stuff." She laughs a little then before her gaze drifts back to Kitty. "Storm says I can teach one'a her classes this fall, History class though?" She winces then. "Me'n history don't do so hot. But, whatever. I'll still do a good job of it. Great, probably." She's always trying to build her own spirits up and keep herself motivated, so it seems. "Motivational speakin' classes would be kinda fun, but I doubt anyone would sign up for it, or if the higher ups would even pitch that as a course at all. It'd probably just make'em roll their eyes." She grins softly again and sips some more of her drink.

Carrie Kelley has posed:
Carrie Kelley grins with amusement at the talk of teaching and classes. Until it comes back to her. She blinks a single time, and takes a sip of the beer again. "Mm, taking the Summer off to focus on the other job," she explains with a rolling shrug. "Trying to get some more practice in while I can. I'm also working ahead on some classes so I don't fall behind during the semester. No one really does much of anything over Summer for theater though," she points out. "Which is probably why I always get preoccupied with boys around this time of year. Just too much time on my hands."

Shadowcat has posed:
"Not to mention walking around in front of them in bikinis. Don't tell me it doesn't give you a rush to see them looking," Kitty says, and totally projecting her own feelings on that matter at Carrie. She grins over to her and says, "Speaking of, we need another beach trip. You missed our Memorial Day bash in Salem we had at the lake there," she says.

Kitty takes another sip of her beer and glances at the bottle. "Yep, think I'm going to be good and drunk when Jason comes home. So he can complain about all of his beer being gone... and I won't have to care," she says with a joking grin. "Well, AM, I'll go to bat for you if you wanted to try it. But, maybe best to teach some of Ororo's classes before getting your own, yeah."

Rogue has posed:
Rogue snickers at the bikini part, but doesn't really comment on it. "The beach day was pretty great. I think the Professah got way too much sun though, his face was beat red the resta the afternoon." Rogue then stands up again and slaps one hand against the front of her thigh and the slim fit jeans she's wearing, then she starts to walk around some more to explore Jason's residence. "Ya know, sometimes Gotham almost seems like a baraeable place t'live. Then... ya know, ya reminds yourself about the Clowns runnin' around try'n t'blow shit up all the time. Not t'mention Penguin's with machine gun umbrellas and... well... I've been doin' a little readin' on this city of-late, since Kitty's got me comin' out here a lot more lately." She glances back to the two of them.

"I like this place, but damn, it is whackier than junkyard dog without any junk t'guard."

Carrie Kelley has posed:
Carrie Kelley grins a bit at the mention of bikinis only to tilt her head thoughtfully. "I've worn a lot of things in my time but I've never worn a bikini. I should give that a try," she decides with a firm nod as this is now a Great Idea that must see fruition. "There's not really a lot of beaches in Gotham," she points out with a laugh. "And... yeah we're a bit crazy here. Honestly I wonder if it's something in the water. Do you know some of these loonies even have *fanclubs*? It's insane. And that's coming from someone who grew up around all this."

A warm laugh comes as she raises her beer toward Kitty. "I might be here for that after this too. I'm sure he'll bitch and moan the whole time."

Shadowcat has posed:
Kitty gives a soft laugh thinking of Jason complaining. "The making up is always fun," she says with a grin. "It is a very unique city. But I also get why the people here love it as they do, and aren't willing to give up on it," she says. "Just sitting out during the day and looking around at the architecture. The care that went into the construction. This city was once a labor of love to build, even if it has developed a seedier side in recent years," she says quietly, her memory casting back to the first time someone showed her how to appreciate the city.

After a few moments of silent reminiscing, Kitty looks back over to them. "Rogue, do you go back home very often? Maybe you and your dad would enjoy a trip back? Is your aunt from your father's side, or your mother's?"

Rogue has posed:
Rogue's non-beer holding hand goes into her jeans pocket as she walks for the kitchen and sets her beer down. She moves to open the fridge and look inside, to see what this Jeason fella keeps in his ice box.

"Hell, I got fan clubs." She says, hearing Carrie. "From my Avengerin' days. Once ya got public hero like that, people start linin' up for ya. Thats when I setup a public twitter and instagram... did videos'n such for the people online. Some'a it really helped encourage ya." She closes the fridge door then and turns back to them. "Most've it was just dick pics though." She says, showing a sly grin.

Her eyes dart to Kitty and she shakes her head. "Went back a year and a half ago, durin' Thanksgivin' week. Thought I tracked down my old dog, and I did. But the woman reocgnized me and she call the cops. I'm... still wanted there, kinda sorta. A lotta the people in the town still want me dead, for... for kissin' a boy before I knew what my powers weould do t'him."

Carrie Kelley has posed:
Carrie Kelley lifts a hand with a quick shake of her head at mention of fanclubs. "No no, not the *heroes*. There's like a whole Harley Quinn fanclub out there. I mean that's kind of creepy even if she is hot. She's also nuts. There was this whole interview lately..." Carrie blinks a few times realizing she was talking perhaps a bit too much about this subject. Even if she might be okay with outing herself to these two, that incident revolved around someone else. That wasn't on her to give out.

"It was ugly," is all she says after a moment deciding that would do it for explanation.

The topic of Rogue and her home earns a small frown as it's all explained. "Wow, that sucks. It's not like you did it on purpose..."

Shadowcat has posed:
Kitty Pryde gives a wince at the mention of attention for Harley. "That woman is a half a grapefruit short of being a fruit salad," she says. Then after a pause. "Ok, I don't know what that means. But she's nuts," Kitty says, shaking her head. "I hope they can help her, but yeah, she should be locked away in the meantime. I'm afraid even if they did help her, Joker would still find a way to get his hands on her and turn her back to him," she says, shaking her head.

She glances up, just making sure Jason didn't walk in just in time to hear the name Joker. It's not a name she tends to use around Jason except when it has to be used. Kitty picks up her beer and shakes her head. "It's crazy that the villains here manage nearly as much destruction without powers, as others do with them," she says sadly.

Rogue has posed:
Rogue approaches the counter in the kitchen and sets her phone down on it while they talk about this Harley chick. She looks up pics of her to get re-aquainted with who she is, visually. "Damn." Rogue says. "She looks fierce as hell. Pretty, but... in a... she might murder you kinda way."

At the comment about it not being her fault what happened, Rogue looks back up to Carrie and flashes a grin at her. "Yeah. Tell me about it. The boy's father rounded up an actual honest t'god posse t'come get me from my Aunt's house. Mutant hatin' posse'a rednecks, with shotguns'n shit. They wanted t'string me up for kissin' his boy and not knowin'..." Rogue shakes her head softly and exhales.

"They took him off'a life-support after three weeks in the coma. Thats when his father lost it, that night. Was that same night that I peaced out all together."
