Clean up on Aisle: X-man
Date of Scene: 09 June 2019
Location: X-men Base
Synopsis: Emma, Rogue, Ororo, and Kitty chatting informally about the expectations of the individual versus the team.
Cast of Characters: Emma Frost, Storm, Shadowcat, Rogue

Emma Frost has posed:
Emma steps out of the jet with a flail of both her arms as she ignores anything any has to say as she storms into the locker room. A cape is removed from her back and tossed against the wall with a weak splat where it then wafts down into the hamper below. Her intended target. The white queen has her yellow eyebrows furrowing over her nose and she has that look of anger in her ice blue eyes.

The woman goes deeper into the locker room and marches towards her locker in a tizzy. The blonde X-man who feels like she's having issues even being welcomed into the school stands before her open locker and reaches behind her back to start untying the cinch that holds her costume in place.

Storm has posed:
Ororo isn't far behind Emma's path. She's much better at maintaining her aplomb than most. An angry Ororo tends to manifest her displeasure with inclement weather. As it is, the bright sunshine fades as darkling clouds roll across the sky. She keeps about fifteen feet behind Emma, gliding along with her cavalry boots not quite touching the ground. The African woman moves to her own personal locker-- though they're far too large to be anything but a 'nook'-- and starts removing her own uniform, jet black except for a stylized white bodice that suggest a corset with a white color pattern. She eyes her cape. Burned, a little ragged. It's tossed into a recycling bin. "I liked that cape," she mutters. Ororo closes her eyes with a deliberate exhalation and presses fingertips to her brow, trying to suppress agitated emotions.

Shadowcat has posed:
The next person off the plane is a little slower in existing. Kitty Pryde comes down the ramp, stretching first one way and then the other to limber up her back. Lockheed flies out of the plane to land on her shoulder as she glances back towards anyone emerging behind her. Kitty gives a slight eyebrow-raise at the body language and purposeful stride of the platinum-blonde who left the Blackbird ahead of her. "Anyone know what's going on?" she asks in a normal tone of voice. She's whisper but probably figures Emma will hear the thought anyway.

Kitty heads into the locker room, going over to her locker and opening it up. There's a picture of Mike Ditka with the Super Bowl trophy stuck inside the door, and another of a cute guy named Ryne Sandberg in a Cubs uniform. "As capes go, it was pretty nice," Kitty agrees with Ororo, glancing over to Emma curiously.

Rogue has posed:
Rogue is already in the locker room by the time Emma arrives. She's got her headphones on and is seated on the bench in front of her locker. Her leather jacket is already hung up inside of it as she's pulling her left long boot off of her left leg, she is softly/quietly singing to the music, otherwise encased inside of her green and gold suit with the black highlights here and there across it, such as the X on her chest.

"Sweeeeet surrender..." Rogue says, still softly while the rest of her song is merely muttered but anyone with sharp enough ears will hear its indeed Aerosmith.

As the others catch up, Rogue looks up at them, she's all smiles while staring at one and then the other, still softly singing along to that classic cheesey-greatness tune as she unzips the other boot down to her ankle and starts to pull it off too.

Emma Frost has posed:
Even in her rage Emma can not remove her corset quickly. Each strand has to be done carefully and purposefully else you're liable to grab the wrong one and undo work or go to far ahead of yourself and work uselessly. Emma keeps her hands behind her back as she does this but the thoughts are getting to her, though it's hard to tell as she's already upset.

Part of her Bostonian background flairs in her voice as she barks, "Fuck the cape! That was a shitty mission and we all know it." The woman snarls as she turns around to face the three other women. "Is it me? Am I the one throwing everyone off their game?!" Emma asks as she looks from Rogue to Kitty and finally Ororo.

Storm has posed:
Ororo faces Emma's explosive cursing with the stoicism of a mountain, one hand lifting by inches to present a palm and calm Emma's tirade down. "It's not your fault, Emma," she says with a soothing and diplomatic tone. "You're not used to managing that many minds at once. Interconnection is a difficult task and it's difficult work keeping the feedback from affecting others."

She lowers her hand and starts shrugging out of her gold-hemmed leotard. "I imagine Jean would be willing to help you develop that skill more," she offers. "Or Betsy-- really, Betsy almost invented it. It's come in quite handy over the years."

Shadowcat has posed:
Kitty pulls back a velcro strip that hides the zipper to her costume and then begins removing it. Lockheed flaps over to Rogue's shoulder while Kitty his sliding her arms out of her unstable molecule costume, alighting there if Rogue allows. Kitty removes her boots and stows them in her lock before turning to Emma at the emotional outburst.

Kitty considers for a moment, giving a nod to Ororo's comments, before saying, "It's been a while since we've had most of the team back together. I think we get in our own way sometimes more than we used to." She steps out of her costume and sets it aside for washing. "I don't know that it is any one person, though, do you?" she asks. Kitty glances over at Lockheed who is looking at Kitty fixedly. "What!? No, it's not me," she protests to the dragon. He lets out a tiny snort of smoke, provoking a laugh from Kitty.

Rogue has posed:
Rogue doesn't seem to have minded how things went at all, but then again she'd done her part in punching the bad guys and saving the people that were in trouble as per her assigne dduty in the mission. As Lockheed comes to land on her Rogue is standing up again and opening her locker room door open nice and wide to stand behind it as she puts her boots away back on the main shelf within. She looks over to the dragon and sings directly to him. "Cause even when Ah dream'a you... the sweetest dream will NEVAH do... Ah still miss ya babe!" And she nuzzles with the dragon for a second before laughing a little.

Within a moment, her locker door is closed and she's walking now toward the showers at a casual clip, grabbing a towel, sans any clothing, her headset still on and her bare feet padding on the floor while she continues to sing, completely oblivious and clued-out on Emma's anger, cause who has time for that kinda negativity!

Emma Frost has posed:
"My interconnection abilities have never been an issue before- Before- Before. Oh SHIT!" Emma says it dawns on her with a snarl of her silver painted lips. "That future boy of Jean and Scott. The day of the earthquake." Emma says, her hands pulling away from the lace of her corset and dropping a gloved fist into the palm of her other hand.

Emma's sharp blue eyes cut over towards Rogue as she begins her solo and without even a flick of her wrist, Rogue's volume is easily cut in half without the southerner knowing and Emma turns back her attention to Ororo and Kitty as her hands go back to undoing her corset. "What's his name Kitty? The boy with Rogue's hair but... worse. I think he may have taken something from me."

Storm has posed:
Ororo shakes her head, wrigglign out of her leotard and setting it in a bin to be cleaned later. In athletic shorts and a black athletic wrap, she retrieves a towel and wraps it around her chest for a bit of modesty before stepping into low shower sandals.

She doesn't move to follow Rogue's path, instead remaining a calming presence around Emma's sometimes-indiscriminate wrath. "That might be a bit of a premature assumption," Ororo points out diplomatically. "We all have our 'off' days. And you were attempting a complicated effort in a very, er... dynamic environment. Perhaps this is something better corrected with some practice and meditation."

Shadowcat has posed:
Kitty pauses and looks thoughtful, but there are also elements of a frown as she considers that. "It hasn't been all that long since the earthquake," she says. "Maybe there's something else going on that you're just not thinking of yet?" Kitty asks. "And Nate. His name is Nate. Seems to be doing a pretty good job teaching the students about their powers."

Kitty picks up a towel and slings it over her shoulder before disrobing the rest of the way. She pauses again, looking thoughtful. "He can ramp powers up, or down. I don't know what the duration is. Did he pass out while you were still connected to him?" she asks. "Lockheed had to pull him out of the water. I mean, maybe worth checking on, but I don't know that means anything necessarily."

Kitty heads towards the showers, stopping to give the lifeguard dragon a pat on the head. "You did good today, boy," she tells him. Lockheed, one of the few in the school whose thoughts have always been a closed book to Emma.

Probably likes the corset, though.

Rogue has posed:
Rogue doesn't notice that she's been mute-buttoned by Emma, but she's off and into a shower stall anyway. She's not in there for too long though, only enough to clean herself off and all that, using the hottest water she can dial it up to so there's lots of steam rolling out of her chosen stall, she took her headset in with her though because they're waterproofed!

Emma Frost has posed:
"Maybe you are all right." Emma says as she lowers herself to sit on the bench next to her locker and keeps working on undoing her corset before she finally gets the laces undone and she opens the thing up like a clamshell and the blonde takes in a deep breath before setting it down on a shelf in her locker. Her hands brushing over her skin to get some of the kinks and indents out before she sighs again and unmutes Rogue.

"You are right Ororo, I could always be better." Frost says as she steps out of her long boots and sets them in her locker as well before sliding off her thong and slingshotting it towards the hamper and grabbing a towel after removing her gloves last.

Storm has posed:
"Emma." Ororo gently touches Emma's arm as the woman walks past. Not trying to physically stop her-- just get her attention. "We /all/ are always working to 'be better'," she reminds the blonde woman in a tone of gentle reassurance. "No one here is perfect, and no one is an island unto themselves. We're stronger than the sum of our parts. Don't beat yourself up for being unable to master the impossible."

She heads to the showers then as well, stepping into a stall and hanging her things on a hook so she can duck under the water. Just enough to blast off the sweat and grime of a mission, at least so she's able to head back to her own room later and shower properly.

"Except for Lockheed, who surely is carrying the rest of the team," she adds, with a more lighthearted tone and a flashing smile for Kitty's animal companion.

Shadowcat has posed:
Kitty heads over to one of the shower stalls, starting up the water. If Rogue's singing comes back up in volume, Kitty dances beneath her showerhead and joins in the singing. While she's a great dancer, she's average at best when it comes to singing. But then the sound of the water falling on the tile tries to at least muffle the sound a little.

Kitty washes thoroughly and then finishes up. She dries off and heads back out to her locker, flashing a grin to Ororo at her comment. "He does, but he tries to remain humble about it," she says, flashing a grin to the African woman. As Kitty goes past Rogue's stall, she rolls her towel up into a whip and gives it a hard smack towards Rogue. Harder than she would to anyone normally, but knowing that's what it'll take for Rogue to feel much out of it. Once she's done, she scampers out of the shower to avoid retaliation, wrapping herself in her towel again.

Rogue has posed:
Rogue DOES start singing again, and her singing isn't the worst! Though she could probably use a few lessons from a real pro. As Kitty passes and snaps that towel in at her, it just slaps against her backside and the musculature of a Goddess! It makes Rogue look back over her shoulder, doesn't hurt her a bit, she just pauses her singing while rinsing her hair out over her right shoulder. "Watch it, Pryde." She warns. "Or you'll get it back tenfold."

Within moments after that her own water is turned off and she's got a towel around herself and is floating out of her stall. Floating all the way back to the locker room and to where her locker is.

Her headset is put away inside of it, where its laid down beside her phone on a upper shelf. She then goes about sorting out her civilian clothes she has inside the locker, humming softly, still not really having any idea whats gotten Emma so fussed up... maybe used to that from that one? Maybe..

Emma Frost has posed:
Emma stops midstep and looks down at Ororo's hand against her arm and then the telepath stares up into Ororo's brown eyes. "I expect more from myself than everyone else here does." Emma says, revealing a hard truth about herself to the white haired woman before she looks back towards the showers and heads that way. Disappearing into the steam and taking a short wash to get the sweat and grit off and out from under her nails. "Where does all this dirt come from?" Emma cries above the din of the water faucets. "Someone needs to deep clean that jet I swear to god." Ignoring the masculine behavior from the two younger members of the team.

Storm has posed:
"You two." Ororo gestures at Kitty and Rogue, putting her 'big voice' back on for a moment. A finger wiggles at the space between the two women. "I don't want to see escalation again. We don't need a repeat of the apple pie incident," she reminds them with a cool and resolute tone of voice.

Ororo redresses herself-- simple, functional underthings, nothing fancy or expensive-- and wraps a sarong-style dress around herself again, leaving her bare shoulders exposed. It's a violent clash of gold fractal swirls on a sea of red, bringing out the deeper bronze under her dark mocha skin. Once Emma emerges from the showers, she glances at the blonde again. "You're possibly being too hard on yourself, Emma," she tells the woman. "It's good to have far-reaching ambitions. Just ask yourself if you're being reasonable in your expectations," she adds. "I'd no more expect you to master some task overnight than I'd expect, say, Kitty to bench-press Piotr." She gestures vaguely at the phase-shifting mutant. "As long as you can say you sincerely gave your best effort, and that you'll continue to devote your best effort to improving yourself, then I think you're free of criticism. Especially from yourself."

Shadowcat has posed:
Kitty begins putting on her clothing at her locker. She flashes a grin at Rogue as her old roomie comes back in. "I swear if I could fly like you I'd just hover in the air and spin around really fast to dry off," Kitty tells her. Then after a moment's thought. "Though, you can probably still get dizzy can't you?" she says. "Well, it'd still be fun one."

Kitty pulls on her jeans and a shirt, then begins pulling on some low boots. She looks up with a grin at Ororo's comment. "Piotr? Oh I'd have him going up and down like a... a... ok I'm going to shy away from that example," she says, her cheeks suddenly getting a little rosy.

Kitty straightens her necklace and then runs a brush through her hair. She gets her ring out of a pocket and slips it back on now that the mission is done. "Anyone know what they made for dinner tonight?" she asks.

Rogue has posed:
Rogue has a tank top pulled on over bare skin and a pair of low-rise blue jeans on within a matter of seconds, cheating and putting her pants on both feet at the same time... cause take that, lesser beings!

"Hey." Rogue says back to Storm then as she reaches for her own hair brush out of her locker. "She started it." She motions with said brush back to Kitty before she grins at her friend. "I do all kindsa things in the air! Like just the other day, some'a the kids asked me t'fly their bouncy ball up t'the clouds then drop it down t'the driveway t'see how high it'd bounce! I mean... thats a good use'a free time, right?"

Her hair is brushed out on her left side, tilting her head a bit as she does it, the white wet locks turning into damp but perfectly straightened rows of hair laying down her shoulder there as she puts the brush away again then and drapes her hair back over her shoulders.

"Dizzy? Well... yeah, sometimes. But I think it goes away faster than the average person."

Emma Frost has posed:
"That's how I've made it this far Ororo." Emma states flatly as she hooks the corner of the towel underneath her arm and over the inside side of the towel so she doesn't have to hold it up. The woman looks back to Rogue and Kitty with a shake of her head at the juvenilles and then her focus is back on Storm and a lift of her hand to take up some of the fabric of Storm's dress and she gives an approving nod. "This is a beautiful dress. It wears you well." Emma says, choosing her words on purpose. "You girls need to take note." Frost says to Rogue and Kitty in regards to Ororo's clothes. "You both need to make much more conscious decisions about what you're wearing. I mean, jeans, this isn't some hoe down at Randal Joes place. We're supposed to be the cream of the crop, not the cream of wheat." Emma says while stepping away from Ororo and to her own locker.

Storm has posed:
"It's also not the Paris fashion week," Ororo reminds Emma. All the while, she speaks in those even tones that are carefully cultivated to keep people from being offended or insulted. "We're off-mission and at home. I'm wearing this because it's comfortable and pretty. Kitty and Marie both are wearing clothes that are cute and comfortable. For me, a dress is the equivalent of... comfortable pajamas."

A smile curls at the edges of her mouth. "You have to admit they both look good in jeans. Just as you look flawless in white, as per usual," she reminds Emma. "The 'comfortable' look can be as valuable as immaculate dress."

Shadowcat has posed:
Kitty finishes with her hair, letting it dry but slipping a scrunchy in her pocket for later to pull it into her mostly present pony-tail. She grins over to Rogue at the mention of the cloud-level ball drop. "So, don't keep us in suspense. How high did it go?" she asks, closing her locker and then leaning back against it as she waits for Rogue's answer.

Kitty looks back to Emma. Her mouth draws into a slightly harder line as she listens to the fashion commentary from the blond woman. "The first conscious decision I choose is to not wear my underwear into the street or as a costume," Kitty says in a tone that is firm but not hostile.

The brunette glances over to Ororo and says, "That does look fabulous on you." Kitty gives the African woman a warmer grin and then reaches up to Lockheed, the dragon hopping off the top of the lockers where he has been perched, trotting down her arm to her shoulder with only a little opening of his wings for balance.

Rogue has posed:
Rogue just sits down again on the bench and grins at Kitty. "I don't know. thirty or fourty feet. It was pretty anti-climatic but they filmed it anyway and put it on their youtube channels. Search for 'Flyin girl bouncey ball' it should pop up."

Rogue doesn't look at Emma, but she does listen to her and Storm talking which makes her grin softly. "Emma's not that far off." She then says as she leans forward into her locker and pulls out a pair of tall cowgirl boots, black with shiny green and golden swirls up the sides of the boot.

She starts to put them on, up over her jeans that cling to her long legs. "There's a line dance competition down at Apple Park's festival grounds tonight. "I'm gonna go grab my straw hat and win that sucka." One boot is on, then the other and she's standing up to grab her phone and shut her locker. "Just gotta wiggle'n slide a bit... and those judges'll be like putty in mah hands. Cream'a Whaaaaaat?" She draws out that last word as she starts to walk past Kitty and Lockheed for the exit of their private locker room.

Emma Frost has posed:
Emma frowns towards Ororo with an almost shocked expression afterwards. "I know it's not fashion week in paris. That's like telling these two it's not shark week. I /know/ it's not fashion week." Frost says turning away from Storm to walk over towards her locker with a glance towards Kitty. "Everyone knows you don't wear any under that costume anyways. The lack of lines is kinda noticeable from behind." Emma notes casually before she holds up a finger to cut Kitty and everyone else off. "Do you know how many times I've been shot at while wearing what I wear into the field?" Emma asks rhetorically, she knows exactly how many times a gun has gone off towards her and how many times a fist has headed her direction. This Emma knows. She's safer in her corset than anything the X-men wear. "Ugh, it is a hoe down. Gross."

Storm has posed:
"We've all been shot at in the field," Ororo says with that endless patience. "And stabbed. We all make a choice about what to wear, and why. I'd be more comfortable in a bathing suit in midair, I suppose, but I'm not going to flash my thighs at the world every time I take to the air. I'd be safer in body armor, but it..." she trails off. "It's too confining," she says, pushing through a minor surge of anxiety. "So. Compromise."

She glances over at Rogue, then grins faintly. "Rogue's armoring for her next battle, and in that domain, jeans and a blouse are more appropriate than thigh-high boots and a corset," she points out. "Good luck, Marie. Try not to embarass the others with too decisive of a victroy," she suggests.

She smiles at Kitty's compliment and leans over to scratch the udnerside of Lockheed's chin. "It's from a fashion shop in Nairobi," Ororo tells Kitty. "Dresses are very much prerferable on the Seregenti. It's better than trousers and leather, believe me."

Shadowcat has posed:
Kitty stretches, especially twisting side to side as if working her lower back. She might have wrenched something on the mission. Even though she stretches well before going out, when there is time. "Sounds like fun AM," Kitty says to Rogue's talk of the hoe down. "I think I might head to Narnia. Take Wong some of that blueberry that someone made. I want to be on his good side, I need some help moving a few things around the library there," she says. "If he's not doing anything I could see if he'd like to come by the line dancing. I don't know if he's ever seen that live," she says.

Kitty looks back over to Emma and chuckles. "Yes, but I still have something covering me even if I'm not wearing my delicates beneath," she says. Kitty realizes she was actually chuckling with Emma, and she frowns just a little bit before letting it go. Kitty is still waiting to see what brings Emma back, figuring she has some ulterior motive. But she's patient.

Rogue has posed:
"Ya'll are welcome to come with." Rogue says as she backsteps out of the locker room then. "The more the merrier. But I figure seein' Emma there would be as likely as seein' Lockheed spit candy instead'a fire." Rogue is off turning to go toward the other end of the corridor where the elevator leading out is located!

Emma Frost has posed:
Emma nods, "I was trying to make the point that I'm shot at less because of my clothes. I chose that look for a reason." Emma says with a frown before turning to face her locker and decide what pantsuit she should wear with how she should fix her hair. Goodness there's so much to do. Emma looks over her shoulder towards Ororo and lowers her voice a bit as she watches Rogue go by towards the door. "Are you going to join them out or do you have other plans?" Emma asks as she pulls out a black and silver hair dryer out from her locker and moves towards the large communal mirror to get to work on her hair.

"I have a bottle or two of merlot I think you would enjoy and I don't want to drink it by myself Ororo." Emma notes with a smile before she turns on the dryer and starts to comb out her hair with salon precision and practice.

Storm has posed:
"I do like a good merlot," Ororo says thoughtfully. "Perhaps a raincheck?" she suggests to Emma. Ororo smiles and wiggles her fingers farewell at Rogue. "Be careful, dear," she calls after the southern belle as she heads out of the locker room.

She returns her attention to Emma, thinking. "Later this evening?" she says, finally. "Or tomorrow evening, possibly. I am craving a little solitude. A book and a glass of tea seems in order, and I need to check the plants. But some wine would be very welcome," she says, nodding gratefully.

She offers Kitty a squeeze of fingers, and a smile for the girl as well. "I envy you. Living in a library sounds like a dream come true. Just try to remember your old friends down the road, when you're the Sorceress Supreme," she teases Kitty. "You know. The little people who knew you 'back when'."

Shadowcat has posed:
Kitty Pryde gives a soft chuckle at Ororo's comment. "Well, the head librarian, as it were, can be a bit... cantankerous. But he's a pretty decent man I think. Most of the books I'm afraid to read though. Next thing I know I'll have grown a third eye, or caused a blizzard in Mobile or maybe swapped bodies with someone there at the Sanctum." Swapping bodies. How funny. Like something out of a movie.

Kitty closes up her locker and grins to the others as she heads out. "We need to get together for another swim though. Supposed to be some hot weather coming now that June is here," she says.

Storm has posed:
"Another swim would be lovely," Ororo agrees. "I'd like to make better use of that stream. Something we can keep relatively pristine and not feel as if we need privacy barriers, either. I hate rising chlorine out of my hair."

She glances at the clock, then picks up a little duffel bag. "If you'll excuse me, I think it's time for that tea. Good evening, ladies. Emma, I'll see you later about that wine." She flashes a smile and heads to the elevator herself, to return to the mansion proper.
