Tinyplot: Age of Despair

Willow Rosenberg has posed:
Willow had had classes, and Spike, and Oz, and any manner of other things that had kept her away from the Watchtower since Superman's rescue, including the fact she felt a little silly about it all, and more than a little nervous about meeting the man in the flesh - after all, she was just a peon in the grand scheme of those who usually occupied those vaunted halls..

However, good manners finally win out, and Willow makes her way there, Superman's glasses tucked into her satchel to be returned to him, Willow practising in her head what she's going to say to the man. Because Superman!

She's waved through security, and makes her way up to the Watchtower...

Superman has posed:
Superman had been up for several minutes now. His strength was returning, and he felt strong again. His eyes look through the empty hallways, as though caught in a dream. Lethargy was not something he was used to, and as he stretches and grimaces, it was a feeling he would never forget.

Moving to the nearest "window", Superman closes his eyes as he absorbs the light from the sun. It was slightly warm on his face, although the Watchtower stopped most of the energy transferrence for safety reasons. Opening his eyes, Superman smiles, hearing Willow's approach even before she came within sight of him. As it was, he was enjoying the view, and waits for her to arrive.

Willow Rosenberg has posed:
It's almost comical how her steps shorten the nearer Willow gets to the man himself, willow worrying at her lower lip. Sure, she'd been there when he woke, but what were the odds he'd remember her? Right? Besides, all those practiced words she'd had on the way over, and the trip up, had already been forgotten leaving her with nothing more than her usual self, which, while endearing, was also something of a babble when Willow was flustered. And Willow was flustered.

"Uh.. Uhm. Hi.. I don't know if you remember me?" Of course she's addressing his back which doesn't seem quite the proper way to give him her name. Willow hushing for the moment, fingers of one hand curled about the lump of Superman's glasses in her satchel, letting their presense lend legitimacy to her visit. Taking strength and confidence in that.

Superman has posed:
Closing his eyes, Superman listens to everything. The sound of the repairs on G deck, near the shuttle bay. The air conditioning coming on in J'onn's room. The leaky faucet in Zatanna's room. Batman coming and going, thinking he is so quiet. Everything going on around him. It was massive how much information the Man of Steel processes every nano second of every day. Oh. And the slowing steps of a certain witch.

Superman's deep blue eyes open suddenly, and turn to focus on Willow. The man smiles, and says, "Ms. Rosenberg. Of course I remember you. How could I forget?" His eyes are full or warmth, and his white teeth flash his open smile. "It seems I owe you a debt of gratitude I can never hope to repay. Thank you for everything you did to release me from Apokolips' curse."

Willow Rosenberg has posed:
Okay, that gives her a startled, Willow's steps coming up short. "You know my name?" Because that wasn't something she'd expected (even if she'd been requested by name her initial visit here). That smile, though, has the expected results, Willow's cheeks turning a rosy pink she can't seem to control, and the young witch flustering, "Oh, gosh. I mean, I'd be a pretty rotten person if I didn't help! But you know my name?"

Yes, because that is the point she's hyperfocusing on.

Then, "It was.. I mean, there were a lot of people who helped. I just sorta.. did things."

Superman has posed:
With a knowing smile, Superman turns to face Willow. "Of course I do! You were instrumental in bringing me home, Ms. Rosenberg! May I call you Willow, ma'am?" It was an almost boyish, farm boy charm he turns on here, and it was so natural. As though his true self was peaking out.

"Di...Wonder Woman, Batman, Flash, Zatanna, Arrow, Pantheon, even John Constantine and many others on the team told me what you did for me. Without you, they would have failed. You were instrumental in the mission's success, and I wanted to personally thank you. So, thank you."

Superman looks at Willow, and bows his head respectfully. "So. I see you may have something for me?" His eyes sparkle in amusement, as he holds out his hand. "Something tells me you are destined for great things Ms. Willow Rosenberg. I want to make it official of course. Welcome to the Justice League."

Willow Rosenberg has posed:
The pink in Willow's cheeks remains, but her features soften in light of that farmboyish charm, "Oh, nobody calls me Ms. Rosenburg except my professors. I'm just Willow. I'd have to keep looking around to see who you meant if you called me the other." She's more than a little bit pleased that he actually knows her name. Mostly, his graciousness is putting her at utter ease.

"They did?" Again, Willow is surpised. "I mean, they did all the big stuff. I mostly just.. well.. what I mean is.." Right. It seemed when Willow actually confronts her role in the rescue it's a lot harder than she thinks to downplay her role.

"Well, I couldn't not help!" Earnestness lends itself to her already youthful features. "You're Superman!" she tells the Man of Steel in awed tones. "If we lost you, we'd lose hope - even if we could do big things without you, we couldn't give that back. You're what everyday people look up to to believe everything is right in their world. We had to do everything we could to get you back."

His gentle reminder of what she holds of his has Willow pulling his glasses from her satchel. "I hope you don't mind, I put them on. You know what's really funny? I could see through them, but I cna't tell that they're magic. And oh, yeah, I've been here before. The nice security people already welcomed me."

That sound you hear is the implication of his words going over her head at light speed.

Superman has posed:
Superman nods, and lets her relax further as they chat. It was one of his gifts. Setting everyone at ease after the flush of difficulty at meeting him. He really was down to Earth though, and people soon discovered that. It made things easier to talk that way.

"Yes. They did. Everyone spoke about how impressed they were about you. I have had visitors all day it seems. Everyone glad I am back and ready to take on the Universe again. His smile flashes again. "I am Superman. That is true." His amusement is obvious. "I am just one person though. I appreciate the sentiment. I am no more important than you are, or John is, or anyone. I appreciate your words though."

Superman waves to her to walk further down the hall beside him. "You are a very passionate woman Willow. I can tell by the sounds of words words...such conviction! Now I know why the team likes you." They move closer to the mission monitor room as he takes his glasses from her. "Ah yes. My glasses. Ingenius. Brilliant actually. John was right, you are smart." As they hit his hands, they are gone, hidden within a pouch in his cape.

"You needn't worry, Willow. You will always have access to the Watchtower whenever you need help, or to help us. As I said, we owe you a debt." The sounds of their footfalls ring down the hall.

Willow Rosenberg has posed:
"People said that?" Willow blinks like the possibility of praise had never occured to her - even if her entire life was a litany of trying to achieve enough praise (notably, from her parents) that she might feel adequate. Willow's life was complicated. Then again, her self-efacing nature was also one of her charms.

"You're one person when it's just us, but outside, to everyone else, you're bigger than that. Your name is this thing.. Have you heard of Gestalt? It's kinda like that. Only maybe more. It's.. oh, nevermind. You're probably not really interested, but I'm glad you're back. We were all very worried."

Willow walks along hallways that were becoming more familiar with every visit, careful not to walk any faster than he does, lest she tire him out. "Oh, gosh, that's really nice. I mean, people like me don't get to do things like this, or go to outer space. And now I've been to a whole other planet. It would be nice to be able to come back and visit and remember.. Would it be okay to visit you?"

The debt she brushes aside with a smile, "I didn't do it for a reward. But I'm curious, you invited me here? I mean, it was you, yes? Only when I got here you were already taken. Was it about this that you invited me, and how did you find me anyway?"

Superman has posed:
"Of course." Superman smiles, looking at her. "I know the effect I have on people, but I am really, just as important as anyone else." Superman's smile widens, as she goes on and on. "I am interested. Absolutely." As they arrive at the room, Superman pauses, and says, "Yes, it would be great to have you visit, Willow. We can catch up on all the latest. It would be nice to have the company."

As they enter, Superman takes a quick look at the screens, and notes that it was all quiet. "Yes, I did. I knew you would be able to help. An old friend of mine said you might be just what the team needs, and I believe my subconscious must have noted that there was something wrong, and it was mystical...and here we are!"

Walking over to pour himself a coffee. "If you like, we can continue to chat...as long as I get some coffee first. Would you like some?"
