Cast of Characters: Darcy Lewis, War Machine

Darcy Lewis has posed:
It's been a long time since anyone's heard from Rhodey. Things have been busy, so it's dropped off most people's radars. Darcy is not like most people. So, at nine o'clock one evening, there's a knock on the door to Rhodey's apartment.

There's Darcy. A backpack on her shoulder, and two shopping bags in her hands, whistling and shifting her weight heel to toe as she waits for the door to open.

War Machine has posed:
There's a low pause from the main door after the knock rings out and a small familiar girl takes a few moments to unlock and open the door. She?s already sprung up quite a bit in the last few weeks having gotten a good bit taller. Lilia doesn?t say a word, her Peppa Pig jacket pulled tight over her head. She?s clearly taken some time to patch it up with new little cloth stickers and the like. A few lights have been strung around it where it looks like she stitched them into the surface in an ill fated attempt to make the happy pink pig wave. Instead it just sort of jitters a bit side to side flickering lights about.

A steam is already coming from something in the kitchen. This apartment is absolutely massive the sort of thing one would expect to house ten people. Though even more than a cursory glance would show just why Rhodes can afford this place. For all of its art deco charm this place feels old. It feels downright ancient, with a patchwork design to everything from the ceiling to the floor holding bits of fresh patched areas where someone has put up some new drywall or pulled down the lights and replaced the wiring in a way that doesn?t exactly fit the old style feel.

The boiling sounds from the kitchen mix with a soft music that drifts through the air the radio playing the top forty of the 1980?s. A lot of the furniture here looks to have been snagged from the local salvation army. While it may not match it?s at least been chosen to color match one part to the next for a general feel if not a consistency in style.

There?s a smell that fills the air of warm home made food. With a whistle being given in time with the tunes.

Lilia offers a quiet wave towards Darcy holding the door open to one side with her free hand. She is about as silent as ever just a slight nod of her head with her little backpack stacked up to the brim with various bits taken from the local junk yard. Her once nice and neat little corner of the room has been stacked up with various little projects where she?s taken her nice toys appart and tried to put them back together in new configurations. There?s not been much progress made to make new things but judging by the almost full bin labeled ?parts? she?s certainly been spending a lot of time TRYING.

Darcy Lewis has posed:
Darcy smiles at the now taller girl.

"Hi. How's my favorite girl?" she asks, stepping in when allowed, eyes swipping across to regard the toy corner.

"Wow. That's quite the haul. I brought you a few new toys, if you wanted them. It's been so long though, I don't know if I got anything wrong... Maybe they're too baby for you? I dunno. Still wannum?" Darcy asks, having nodded to her own back pack.

War Machine has posed:
Lilia nods silently. It seems no matter how much time passes she's still not exactly much one for talking. She grabs onto a leg and just gives a firm hug for a long moment. In that little backpack of hers she's strapped on a few duck-tape pouches to expand out the storage. She's got a little pair of scissors in one, the screwdriver set from earlier in another. Her own little terror kit for taking away the stacks of perfectly good toys and turning them into new contraptions that might not be the most useful of things, but are certainly interesting to look at.

From the kitchen Rhodes voice calls out. "Hey, Darcy, didn't hear you come in." As he recognizes the voice taking a peak out around the doorway. He's got an apron around his waist that just has the full metal jacket combat helmet complete with Born To Kill on the front of it, except the word kill's been crossed out and replaced with Grill. "Not exactly used to getting many visitors."

As Darcy makes her way into the apartment a partially open door would allow the War Machine armor to be visible. Ready for deployment its gotten its own entire mostly unfinished room with various little trinkets along the walls partially visible including a few news articles written up in forign languages. And some rather intimidating looking WMD's that have been dismantled and left up on the wall in that little man cave.

Darcy Lewis has posed:
One doesn't need words to say important things. The hug has Darcy smiling broadly and bending down to give the top of the girl's head a hug in return.

"I've missed you too, Blabbermouth," she says, teasing gently and making it clear that it's completely okay to just never talk. She has to shuffle her shopping bags, but when she does, the new back pack is offered out.

"Here ya go, Squirt. Happy birthday," she says before straightening and making her way toward the kitchen.

"Fuck, it smells bombin' in here," Darcy says, letting herself into the kitchen and putting the bags on the counter. "It's okay. No one's ever ready for me. I brought beer."

War Machine has posed:
From the moment that little stack is passed over Lilia is already getting down to opening the box and trying to figure out how to tear it apart to figure out how it works. The speed at which she goes from zero to tear it down to component parts and put it back together is something that could be admired. A fresh stack of parts for the parts pile, toy skulls for the toy skull throne. Or something of the like. More accurately she's just using her little kit to pull off the soldering spots and look at how the little wires work. It's a wonder Rhodes trusts her with the flame but then again?

"Yeah" Spoken as he twists back away to the stovetop a small spread being put together at the ready. A pair of bowls filled up with salad and some healthy steak and potatoes on the grilling area. There's a pause as he switches over from the steak and potatoes to the vegetable pasta. A bit of a large spread for two people but with a third just coming over? Might just be enough for the group. "Hell yeah, pass me one of those, I've been dry all week." Spoken with a bit of a smile as he turns to one side pulling out another slab of meat for that little cooktop. "Been trying to make more stuff from scratch these days, supposed to be a healthier way to go."

Darcy Lewis has posed:
Without hesitating, Darcy hands over a brew, cracking the top for him so he can drink immediately.

"One of my girls is a chef. Does all the team's meal plans. Not that I always follow it, but whatever. Do you want some of her recipes?" Darcy offers, reaching into thebag to get her own beer now. Lilia gets to go on with her bad self and the tearing down of all the new stuff Darcy brought.

War Machine has posed:
Rhodes pops the lid, and kicks back a bit of the contents. There's a smile on his face as he takes in a slow breath of air. "After the last few months?" A pause for him to slap the steak down onto the countertop following a quick slathering of seasoning having pulled the meat slap out of a nice brine. "I needed that." The steak sizzles and pops a lovely aroma filling the air.

While it cooks he moves over to wash his hands. "How you like your flat iron?" While the sizzling fills the air and he starts to cut up a small bowl of salad. "Like mine rare personally." A light wince as the sound of a soldering iron fills the air and he knows something new is being torn apart. "You know I still haven't replaced the last Microwave she took apart to try and build a 'heat ray' a few weeks back." Shaking his head.

Darcy Lewis has posed:
"Mooing," Darcy replies, leaning on the counter with her forearms. A low chuckle is let out at mention of 'heat ray'.

"You know, when I was her age I was putting Barbies on the grill.... So, a heat ray? Totally not weird."

War Machine has posed:
A quick flip is made to the other side on the flatsteak, before it's slid right onto a plate next to the bowl of fresh salad. "I'd ask what kind of dressing you want but we only have the one." He chuckles pouring it onto the bowl and sliding it across the counter top. This place is clearly a bit big for just two people but hey, just means it gets that high end luxury feeling? mixed with low end ikea knockoffs. "When I was her age I was just playing soldier with the other kids in the neighborhood." He pauses for just a moment. "Well and shooting at each other with our BB guns."

He snags up some more plates from the cabinets. It's clear at a glance they don't all exactly match one another. With Lilia's getting sat down on a rather colorful looking Power Rangers plate that looks to have seen better days, but the fact she wrote her name on the bottom at least says something.

In the distance there's another spark from lilia's room and the sound of bits of plastic being broken off. "Easy for you to say, it wasn't your microwave." As he motions over to the rather ramshackle looking device that's been placed at the top of the fridge. There's still that General Electric logo on the side of it, but even from a glance it's not exactly something most people would trust. It's certainly function over form with exposed wires on several locations and a heating coil that looks like it could almost work. Now if it does? Well that's a question for another time.

Darcy Lewis has posed:
Darcy drinks more beer, letting her steak rest and waiting politely for everyone else to get served and seated to eat before she'll dig in to hers.

"To each their own. I'm just happy she's able to explore, ya know? Too many parents would be like 'oh shit no kid you're gonna hurt yerself'! What you've got here for her? It's badass," she says, smiling at the mix matched plates.

War Machine has posed:
"Don't know what's so special about it" Spoken with a bit of a chuckle as he puts down the plates around the two wood tables that have had a large cloth placed over them to make em look like one continuous dining room set. "Just been cutting back in some ways to try and give her the best in others you know?" He places two fingers inside of his mouth blowing a quiet whistle.

The hammering and sawing and soldering carries on for a few moments longer while Rhodes sets down the silverware and what could loosely be called a cup at his spot. It has a few bits that aren't exactly what one might think when they think drinking cup. A small battery compartment to the side that's been taken from an old cell phone powers up some lights that do?. Well it's hard to tell quite what they're doing but they're certainly doing it with those little flashing lights. The fan on the side is a nice touch, but he transfers his beer from the cup to the glass.

"Just wish I knew what I was doing." Said with a bit of a chuckle as he sets down in his chair. "Mostly just flying by the seat of my pants right now." A look given back over to darcy as he drinks around the little spinning fan.

Darcy Lewis has posed:
"What's so special is that it's hers, without judgement or fear of reprisal, without needing to justify or hide. That? That's hella special, man," Darcy says, toasting him with her beer and then drinking again. Darcy takes her own plate and drink to the table, and takes a seat.

"Yeah. I think that's most parents, bro."

War Machine has posed:
Rhodes looks back over setting back down the strange looking glass back next to his plate. "Well I mean as long as she stays out of my man-cave that is." Spoken with a light tap to the side of his head. "I have my space, she's got her? three fourths of the apartment." Spoken in a joking manner as he looks back over towards that far room. "Last call."

The sound in her little area stops and the small girl makes her way over and sets down at the table without a word. She just settles in and drinks her water. "Not a parent, an uncle." A look back to Darcy. "Much cooler." dragging out the uch before doing a mock flex. "So, how's the latest world ending crisis that only SHIELD can stop?"
