Location: One of the many libraries in New York, USA
Synopsis: Fiona Glenanne and Nadia Pym have a bit of a chat about slowing down in space and morality.
Cast of Characters: Fiona Glenanne, Wasp (Pym)

Fiona Glenanne has posed:
Fiona Glennan, resident former bomb maker, arms dealer, bounty hunter and fiery tempered Irish woman has come here, to the library. It's a shock, really....she has a laptop and can just research at home, but she's driven here and decided to come spend quality time among books, the Internet and with her laptop. A laptop that she's protecttive of. Fi's got her reasons for that, but currently she's in a t-shirt, jeans, ankle boots and a faded gray leather jacket, eyes fixed on her laptop screen with a quiet smile on her face.

She's pulled up information, though shutting off her laptop she gets up and strolls around, keeping her eye out for anything unusual....though when she's an arms dealer, bomb artist and a bounty hunter, everything is out of the ordinary....as Fiona settles back down at her table....looking around again.

Wasp (Pym) has posed:
It is perhaps a little unusual to see a teenager studying of their own volition. It's even more unusual when that teenager is doing her studying with physical books in the public library during what should be class time. But here she is. Surrounded by a selection of books that would be best described as 'advanced' material. A pair of college level chemistry books, one on gravitational physics, some mechanical engineering guides and finally a book titled 'The history of spaceflight'.

Sitting at the desk, surrounded by this book fort, Nadia Pym seems entirely at home. Smiling as she flicks through various pages, one per book each time, as if she was reading all of them at once. Probably because that's exactly what she's doing. When she isn't scribbing her own notes down on a pad of paper that is. Every now and again on of the library staff come over and, after a quiet chat in Russian accented English, they end up taking whichever book she's finished and replacing it with another college level text.

Her own outfit is almost painfully boring. Jeans and a brightly coloured t-shirt with a printed animal design on that seems a lot like what a middle-aged Government employee might assume a teenager would enjoy wearing if they were to guess. Perhaps ironically so. As it was indeed part of a selection of clothing she was 'gifted' as part of her rather unusual immigration.

Fiona Glenanne has posed:
Fiona's attention is snared by the book fort and she steps over to it, just sort of eyeing the books. Fi takes in Nadia's appearence and stretches, blinking a few times....as if not quite believing what she's looking at....and she sighs. "Hey" she says and drags a chair over, "Mind if I join you?"

It's a valid question really. Fiona's curious what Nadia was reading, and.....glances at the books, out of curiosity and interest.

Wasp (Pym) has posed:
Upon closer inspection it's not just Nadia's choice of reading material which is unusual. The angle of the chair and choice of table she's working at gives her good lines of sight across the room and makes it virtually impossible for anyone to sneak up on her.

"You are welcome to sit anywhere you would like," she replies cheerfully, but still scribbing away with a nub of pencil. "So long as you don't move any of my books. I am very busy working on a project right now." She adds a few more notes. In a mixed Russian/English shorthand that looks a lot like code but could also simply be hard to decipher because the subject matter is so complex. The pad itself has the title 'Relativistic Particle sled' written in big bold letters and then decorated with star shaped stickers. Plus one of a red panda. It's not strictly related to space travel like the stars are but gosh darn is it cute.

Fiona Glenanne has posed:
Fiona nods. "I wasn't going to move the books. I just was interested in several myself" she says and drops into a chair with a nod, then watches Nadia out the corner of her eye. It wasn't Fiona was trying to sneak up on the girl.....but....she asked first to join, rather than just turn up. Fiona peeks at a book about rockets and chemistry....and smiles. It's a bit out of her league, but....she speaks up. "Rockets, rocket fuel. I know a thing or two about exotic explosives and this and that" she says and leans back in her chair whilst watching Nadia. Glancing from the book to Nadia again, Fiona is curious. "What're you working on?" Fi asks, wondering what exactly that relavistic sled is all about. She's both curious and thinking it sounds too complex for her to figure out though.

Wasp (Pym) has posed:
"Just an idea I'm working on... Nothing all that special really just... If I can find a way to snare a photon I could in theory use it to accelerate a spaceship up to close to light speed," Nadia replies matter-of-factly. As if she's discussing the weather or what she might fancy for lunch. "There are a few little teething problems I have to figure out before it's ready to share with anyone though. Like how do you stop it."

She offers a shrug. "I know a bit of chemistry myself but I wouldn't really recommend saying the 'E' word out loud. Not in a public place. It'll make the staff very nervous, especially given you have a laptop bag with you."

Fiona Glenanne has posed:
"Well....yeah" Fiona admits, "That being said, won't brakes work? I mean.....you just need something to slow it down, so why not put on the biggest set of brakes you can?" she asks, thinking the sled's like....well.....a sled and can brake easily. Not that Fiona's ever worked on anything that complex...IRA bombs are a whole other issue. Fiona grudgingly smiles. "Yeah you think I'd know better given my reputation" she muses, a glint in her eyes.

Wasp (Pym) has posed:
"Brakes? Like a car has?" Nadia replies with a giggle. "There's nothing to brake against in space. Except perhaps the underlying forces that make up the fabric of reality. Besides slowlying from close to light speed suddenly would generate too much strain. Never mind the friction." She shakes her head. "No I think the best way would be to gradually slow down using something like a solar sail. Like how those jet cars they use for land speed records have parachutes on the back."

The young woman looks up from her books and gives Fiona an appraising look, checking for signs of weapons or other suspicious library patrons. "Your reputation?"

Fiona Glenanne has posed:
Fiona shakes her head. "Ah it's in space" she says with a sigh. "That makes it harder, yes" Fiona sighs and looks to the books again as if one of those will suddenly tell them how to slow the sled down. Fi shakes her head, "I'm not a scientist...well......in the traditional sense" Fiona shrugs. "I have a.....reputation, put it that way. I've done some pretty horrific things so I get people nervous just by walking into a room" she admits. "That's what you get for working with the IRA though...." she adds and looks around with a worried glance.

Wasp (Pym) has posed:
Nadia Pym tilts her head. "That is usually where spaceships travel," she points out with wry amusement. "If you have done bad things then the only solution is to make sure you do /more/ good things to balance things out." She nods, almost to herself at this statement. "I don't really know what an IRA is though. Something like the IRS?"

Fiona Glenanne has posed:
Fiona smirks. "Really? I thought they traveled in the sea" she snarks and smiles. "I know they travel in space. It's in the name isn't it?" Fiona asks then looks pleased, "Oh, you're right, I need to do more good....or at least neutral things" she points out and looks like she's thinking on stuff. "But if I keep doing good, I have to do bad to keep it all in balance" she says, making a good point...at least in her own head.
"The IRA was an Irish terrorist group" she says as if that'd be obvious. Still, Fiona shakes her head. "I've done horrific things" she says and looks to Nadia again.

Wasp (Pym) has posed:
Nadia's mouth forms an 'O' of surprise for a moment. Then she shrugs. "We did not get much news about other countries in the.. in the Siberian boarding school I grew up in. Very remote and always snowed in. I'm sure you can imagine." Her brow furrows into a frown. "I'm not sure that you need to be that perfectly balanced.. It's /probably/ better to do more good things than bad. Not that people really work that way. Everyone thinks they are the hero in the story, even the villains."

Fiona Glenanne has posed:
Fiona nods quietly. "Siberian boarding school?" she asks quietly with a smile "So I'll just call you Russian Girl huh?" she asks with a smile. "See, I've been to Russia for my work. It's a beautiful place, if scary at times" she nods and sets about packing her laptop away slowly and carefully, watching Nadia from Fiona's seat as she's turned the chair around to watch the Siberian girl. "I'm Fiona" she adds as she walks back over with her laptop packed away.

Wasp (Pym) has posed:
"I would rather people call me Nadia." she replies with a shrug. "It is my name after all. I did not get to see a lot of the country, so I can't say if it's all beautiful or not." She pauses and doodles some more numbers onto her pad of paper. "Beauty is subjective anyway." She flashes a grin. "So is how scary something is. Not long after I came to this country I ran into someone called 'The Joker' and /he/ was scary. Even if he was being nice at the time. Or as close to nice as someone like that can be anyway." She fixes Fiona with an appraising look. "I'd guess no matter how bad the things you've done are he's probably still far worse."

Fiona Glenanne has posed:
"Oh that guy" Fiona says. "Is sort of scary.....yeah. Though" Fi adds with a sigh. "You know....you're right. Compared to the Joker....I'm not all that bad really" Fi shrugs and looks amused, then shakes her head as her phone buzzes. "Ah I need to get running. I'm supposed to be halfway across town ten minutes ago" she groans and sighs. "It was good meeting you Nadia. You made me realize I'm not a total and utter monster" she adds and looks relieved by this bit of news.

Wasp (Pym) has posed:
"I should charge a therapist fee," Nadia teases, flicking three pages over in a row. "Anyway, it was nice speaking with you. Good luck getting to your meeting! And uhm.. please try not to blow anything up because... I'd hate to have to beat you up and send you jail." She offers a wave. "Crime fighting gets in the way of my studies."
