99 Bottles of Beer on the wall...
Date of Scene: 20 June 2019
Location: Josie's bar - Hell's Kitchen
Synopsis: Remy, Aquaman and Vanessa Carlysle drink at a neighborhood bar
Cast of Characters: Gambit, Aquaman, Copycat

Gambit has posed:
Remy LeBeau had business in city. It didn't go well. Of course his always tense relationship with the NYC Branch of the Thieves Guild /never/ goes well, but honestly this time things went worse then usual. So he decided before undertaking the hour long bike ride back to Westchester, he'd take some of the edge off. He comes into Josie's and nods approvingly, heading up to the bar and ordering a beer.

Aquaman has posed:
Arthur is at the bar and into his second beer. He is watching the screen on the wall showing a newscast about some surface dweller named Trask being in trouble. But mostly he is just talking idly with Josie about rumours and gossip floating out if the longshoremen's union.

When Remy comes up to the bar, Arthur looks over and nods to him, then takes another pull from his drink.

Gambit has posed:
Remy LeBeau nods to the other man and glances at the television with undisguised disgust. "Pretty sure dat dare is a special place in 'ell foh people like dat. People dat not only 'ate, but make a profit at it." He offers Josie a wicked grin that would have a normal woman's heart all alfutter... and makes the gruff barmatron roll her eyes at him. He sips his beer and adds, "Someplace where de Pedophiles and people who talk durin' de t'eater have ta get on dare 'ands and knees jus' ta spit on 'em."

Aquaman has posed:
Arthur chuckles at Josie's reaction to Remy. If anyone ever got another reaction out of her, he might just die of shock.

"What's his problem?" Arthur asks. "Run off with the pension fund? Another Madoff?" He scratches his beard idly with his free hand.

Gambit has posed:
Remy LeBeau raises an eyebrow to the other man, but shrugs. "'E's de guy dat builds dose Sentinals. De ones dat are out dare 'unting and murdering mutants. Men, women, kids, don' matter. Den try ta claim it foh some greater good." He takes a long draw of his beer, "Cause nobody evah used dat line 'fore."

Aquaman has posed:
Arthur peers back at the screen and then looks at Remy.

"That guy's responsible for the robots? He's a pencil-neck in a suit. Somebody should drag him into the street for a good beating," he grunts and drains his beer. He waves his mug at Josie for another.

"Idiots. Few years back they got flying alien monsters trying to burn down New York. Then couple years ago it was giant mushrooms from hell. But hey, that's not enough trouble. Gotta go after their own," he says dryly with a shake of the head. "Stupid."

Gambit has posed:
Remy LeBeau nods at the other man and raises his glass in his direction in a salute. He motions for his own refill from Josie before offering the other man his hand "Remy LeBeau, nice ta meet yah." He says simply. The Cajun notes the man's clothes but says nothing. Hell he's wearing sunglasses insde a dark bar at night. Who the heck is he to judge.

Aquaman has posed:
Arthur reaches over and shakes Remy's hand. "Arthur Curry," he says. His plaid jacket looks like it has been worn to work for a long time, as do the jeans.

"You see one of those robots up close? I've only seen them on the news," Arthur ask.

He leans over to call down the bar to Josie at the far end. "Don't let any robots in here Josie!"

Copycat has posed:
Two women were in the back at a table together. They both rise and one of them says, "I'm going to head back. You coming?" The other, a dark haired woman, wearing a pair of dark shorts and a dark tank top shakes her head to the other. "You go on ahead. I think I'm going to relax a little bit longer if I can," Vanessa says to the other. The two women and hug and the one departing tells Vanessa. "Ok. Thank you for the talk."

As the other departs, Vanessa goes over to the pool table. She gets a pool stick off the wall, rolling it on the table to check if it is straight. It wobbles, crooked as a dog's hind leg. The others get the same result, so Vanessa just sticks with one, racking the balls and then moving around to the end of the table. She adds chalk to the pool stick and then lines up the shot and breaks, the balls scattering across the table, but none going in.

Gambit has posed:
Remy LeBeau nods slighty to Arthur's question, taking another sip of his beer. It has that unique quality of being utterly vile and revolting...while simultaniously making you crave another one. The sound of pool balls breaking catches the Cajun's attention, and he gives the woman an appreciatinve look over. He may be in love with a woman who can rip off his arms and beat him with the wet ends, but hell just because you are on a diet doesn't mean you can't admire the buffet. He refocuses on the other man and says, "Oui. Been so close ta one of dose damn t'ings dat it almos' made a pancake out of me."

Aquaman has posed:
Arthur follows Remy's look and cocks his sideways a bit when Vanessa leans over for her shot. He shoots Remy a grin and drinks from his beer.

"No kidding? That story's worth a beer," Arthur says.

"Josie, his next one's on me. And get her one, too," he says to Josie with a jerk of the head toward Vanessa.

Gambit has posed:
Remy LeBeau chuckles a bit, "Not dat good at tellin' Stories Mon ami." He says with a shake of his head, but then adds, "Was pretty cool 'owevah. Captain America 'imself actually showed up. Kinda like meetin' an Icon actually." he shakes his head. "Ah was on de roof of dis building. Course natually all de action, which 'ad been in de sky up to dat poin' immediately moves ta ground level." He shakes his head at that, as if the memory still annoyed him despite it amusing him as well.

Copycat has posed:
Vanessa walks around the table, looking at the options for another shot. Just playing against herself, she lines up on a stripe and sinks the ball, but leaving the cue in a poor position. She leans with both hands on the table as she considers her next shot, while Josie brings a beer over to her. Vanessa has that expression of surprise as she takes the beer while Josie motions over toward the bar in explanation before heading back to her normal spot.

Vanessa takes a sip of the beer as she follow Josie's point. She sees the two men at the bar looking her way and gives a soft, friendly smile back as she holds up the beer to express her gratitude for the beverage. She takes another sip, then sets the beer down and lines up her next shot. Missing. Solid's turn now.

Aquaman has posed:
"Captain America? No kidding," Arthur says. "Gotta be more, then what?"

Arthur looks over when Josie takes Vanessa the beer. He raises his mug to Vanessa, then chuckles when Josie comes back and shakes her head at him.

"You're just jealous," he jokes to her.

Gambit has posed:
Remy LeBeau smirks a little bit at the man and tsks slightly, almost wincing as the woman blows what, to Remy is an easy shot. "Ah t'ink 'e's a lil past de Century mark?" he takes another slow swig of his beer then stands over towards Ness. "Mind if Ah try a shot chere?" he asks with playful challenge..

Copycat has posed:
Josie gives a wry snort and mutters something about 'in her day' towards Arthur, but goes down to serve a beer to someone else further down the bar. She glances up at the television, giving a frown at the news coverage before moving on to pour the next drink.

Vanessa takes another shot, evening up the score for solids. She goes on a slight run, sinking the next two as well before missing a shot and taking a beer break. She takes a sip, glancing back towards the bar again towards her benefactor. She sets the beer down and gets the chalk to add a bit more to the stick's tip to continue the game when Remy comes over. "Sure," she tells him after glancing Remy over briefly. "Stripes are up," she tells him, the side that is two balls behind now in the game of eight-ball. She'll offer him the stick if he likes, then back up to lean against a table as she watches. She glances over towards Arthur again and then back to Remy when he takes his shot.

Aquaman has posed:
Arthur chuckles. He watches the television a couple minutes longer, looking pensive. Then gets up and ambles after Remy. He leans against the wall with his beer and looks over the table.

"Next beer says she kicks your ass," Arthur says to Remy with a grin and a gesture at Vanessa.

Gambit has posed:
"See now dat's unfair..." The Cajun says with a wicked grin to the other man. "Ah mean on one 'and yah dealin' wit' mah over inflated sense of chivalry an' honor towards a lady.." He lines up the shot, hits three rails and sinks not one but two of the striped balls in separate pockets. "On de ot'er 'and yah got mah monumental Cajun ego."

Copycat has posed:
Vanessa glances over to Arthur as he comes over to join them. "You're either putting a lot of faith in me, or little in your friend," she says to him. She smiles over to the tall man and then looks back to the Cajun as he lines up the shot.

After the spectacular pool display, Vanessa looks back to Arthur. "I'm going to go with 'too much faith in me'," she tells him with a soft chuckle. She takes up the beer she was sent and takes a long sip from it. "You two hang out here a lot?" she asks them as Remy moves on to his next shot.

Aquaman has posed:
Arthur snerks at Remy's comment and his eyebrows go up at the shot. "Show off," he grumbles.

"I still believe. You gotta crush that Cajun ego" Arthur says wryly to Vanessa.

"I haven't been here in a while, been out of town. Always stop here when I pass through though. You?" he asks with a look that takes in both of them.

Gambit has posed:
Remy LeBeau shrugs a bit, "Firs' time actually." He says considering his next shot, lining it up and sending the balls slidng across the table only to stop, hovering just over the edge of the pocket where a aflys sneeze cound drop it over. He makes a face and says "Dey might consider replacing de felt." He shrugs agin nodding to the girl, "Got drawn in by de scent of flat beer and stale peanuts."

Copycat has posed:
Vanessa Carlysle takes the pool cue and walks over to take a look at the table. "I've been in a couple of times," she comments. "Usually kind of a... locals getting off work sort of feel to it. Neighborhood spot," she says. "Though I'm not from the neighborhood, so..."

She finally decides on the 13. She lines up on it and manages to sink it, but then it was a nice straight in shot. The next one doesn't go so well. She has to bank it to hit the 15 and while she's close, it just rattles around the pocket without going in.

Vanessa moves back over to her spot leaning on the table. "Guessing you're not from this neighborhood either," she says to Remy and his Cajun accent. Then she glances to Arthur. "You? Possibly. I'm Vanessa. Thank you for the beer," she says, reaching over a hand towards him.

Aquaman has posed:
"Yeah, blame the table," Arthur says with a grin to Remy.

He listens to Remy's reply, if any, to Vanessa's comment about Remy not being from the neighbourhood. He has his face in his mug when Vanessa comes over to shake his hand. He lowers it, switches it to his offhand and rubs the condensation from the mug off on his jeans.

"You're welcome. I'm Arthur," he says and shakes Vanessa hand. Then he gives his head a bit of a shake. "I'm from up the coast."

Arthur considers the table again. "I think I'm gonna be buying another round in a second."

Gambit has posed:
Remy LeBeau doesn't shoot at his floating 7 ball, istead choosing to jump the cue over one of Vanessa's balls, pocketing the 1, and causing the 7 to fall at the same time. He consider the table then however and realizes he doesn't have a proper shot on the eight... at least not one he can make, so rather then try and fail, or worse scratch, he just bumps the cueball with his stick, surrendering the table back to the girl. "From Nawlins originally," He agrees with her casually, giving her one of those wicked smiles, "Course now Ah'm a teacher out in Westchester.."

Copycat has posed:
"Wow, nice grip," Vanessa says, sounding impressed. Vanessa looks over to Arthur at the comment about the next round, holding up both hands towards him then in a gesture as if she'll try, but not to expect too much. "Don't sound too much like a New Englander," she comments to Arthur as she goes over to survey the table. Remy didn't leave her too much to shoot at. With just her stripes on the table there are balls to shoot at, just no good angles.

"Oh, what do you teach?" Vanessa asks Remy as she lines up the shot. She hits the ball hard and it ends up going in, but not where she'd been trying to make it. She surrenders the table to Remy as she goes back to get her beer from the table and take a sip. "Are you a teacher as well?" she asks Arthur.

Aquaman has posed:
Arthur frowns when Remy says he is a teacher. It was clearly the last thing he expected to hear.

Then Arthur laughs at Vanessa's gesture. "I spend a lot of time at sea," he says by way of explaining his lack of accent. Arthur tries not to be obvious about checking out the good angles while Vanessa considers her shot.

Gambit has posed:
"A few t'ings. French is mah primary subject, but Ah also teach an et'ics class, and Ah run a club on Male Etiquette." He says this last with a slight grin on his face finally says "Eight in dat corner, Two rails..." And he proceeds to do pretty much exactly what he says, the ball going in cleanly though Remy still mutters about the quality of the felt, likely to Josies Not-giving-a-shit. "Which is basically a club ta 'elp teach teenage boys de proper way ta treat, talk to, an' ot'erwise engage wit' women."

Copycat has posed:
Vanessa watches Remy prepare his shot as she finishes the last of her beer. She sets the glass down, the tall brunette watching as the eight-ball sinks home. She lets out a sigh and turns over towards Arthur. "Sorry, I'm not bad, but I have the feeling this guy is a hustler more than he is a school teacher," she says, flashing a grin towards Remy.

Vanessa glances Arthur over. "So... hmm, I'm thinking... not in the Navy. Though... maybe some military experience in your past, just not anymore?" She obviously isn't up on her Atlantean royalty. But then how many people in Hell's Kitchen are.

She looks back to Remy and eyes him suspiciously at his last statement. "Oh? So lots of, thank you ma'am and nice to meet you Miss, that sort of thing?" she asks him curiously.

Aquaman has posed:
Arthur chuckles into his beer. He is sure Remy is joking now and is waiting for the mother of all pickup lines from the expert on how to treat ladies.

He grunts when the eight-ball goes down and waves to Josie for another round.

"Something like that," he says to Vanessa with a nod. "What do you do?"

Gambit has posed:
Remy LeBeau smirks just a little bit. "No, more like 'Why did she get upset when yah said 'Nice Dressm when did yah get it.' Or when does she wan' yah ta lie to 'er... Also, mah mos' important lesson, How ta actually undahstand what a woman is t'inking.." And on the heels of that cryptic answer, his cell starts ringing... He makes a face as he checks it. "Ah'm afraid Ah got ta go. It was a pleasure meetin' yah bot'." Heading for the door before responces are even possible.
