Synopsis: Logan and Buffy train out in Bludhaven
Cast of Characters: Buffy Summers, Wolverine

Buffy Summers has posed:
It didn't take long for Buffy to get back into a daily routine: Study and go to classes in the morning, homework in the afternoon, practice and meditate in the evening and go for a patrol at night. She of course scheduled things so that she had some alone time, social time with friends and time to just veg out in front of the tv. Hey, she was taking it easy this semester, with only a few part time classes. Afterall, she had to fit in her crappy part time job at a burger joint too. *sigh* isn't life hard sometimes?

Which is why she is taking a little 'me' time right now as she steps out into the sunny Melville park, dressed in a simple white tanktop and forest green yoga pants, form-fitting enough to show off her long lean legs and toned torso, accentuated with a long green line along the length of the legs. Somehow it was still super comfy and stylish and she even had a matching green yoga jacket for when it got a bit chilly at night. For now she sits cross legged under a tree, meditating quietly.

But after a while she rises, moving into slow and fluid Tai-chi movements as she goes through her stances, remembering the slow breathing and stretches to keep her body warm and supple and in tip top shape. After all the peering at books and cramping her hands, it feels good to get in a good stretch or two.

Wolverine has posed:
There are more than 20 million people in the greater New York area, so whenever people see someone they know, especially when it's not someone who lives on their street, it comes as quite the shock. Logan was about to know that shock, for he had come to Melville, in southern Bludhaven, to train. He liked to vary up his regiment, sometimes hiking up in Harriman State Park, visiting Sourland Mountain Preserve, or any of the smaller parks throughout the Tri-State Area.

Today he had chosen Melville Park, and was just finishing up his bujinkan ninjutsu practice. As such, he wore black zubon or trousers, tabi boots, which split his toes, and a black obi or belt around his waist. With it being such a beautiful and warm day, he had taken off his uwa-gi or jacket, having instead folded it neatly and placed it in a bag he carried.

Walking along the stone pathway in the park, he spotted Buffy Summers, a girl he had recently met. This was unexpected. "Buffy," he said, walking over to observe her Tai-chi movements, "small world, ain't it?" The really curious thing is that the man made no sound when walking. Maybe it was the boots, or training, probably a bit of both.

Buffy Summers has posed:
Buffy Summers has her eyes mostly closed as she goes through her practiced routine. Angel had been the one to teach her this particular form of martial arts, mostly within a certain abandonned old Mansion, where they were hidden from the world, stealing secret, forbidden kisses here and there, pretending that there was no big elephant in the room that could ruin things and bring about another world-ending apocalypse--

Her eyes snap open even before her calls her name, having become so attuned to her surroundings, always on the alert, even in the middle of the day in broad daylight. Bad habit for sure. "Oh. Logan. Hey! How are you doing?" she relaxes her stance, grabbing a nearby towel to wipe sweat on her face, and taking a long drink of her bottled ice water. "Didn't think you'd be still in town." she notes his stylish outfit with an appraising smile and nod. "Looks like I'm not the only one practicing out here."

Wolverine has posed:
Taking an interest in her form, he makes a few notes of what he might suggest for improvement, though the practice seems to end as abruptly as his arrival. Setting his bag down, he kneels in a very strict, regimented way, as if it were part of the practice. He sits seiza style, as many Japanese would. He quietly removes a towel and a bottle of water, placing them by the bag. There's a curious level of precision to how he does it, and yet it seems effortless.

"Wasn't, but came back. I don't know, just something about this place. I just finished up, but I can go again..." he pauses, and then throws it out there, "it'd be great to have a sparring partner." His lips curl into a mischievous grin. "Though, I wouldn't want to ruin that nice outfit o' yers." Was he baiting her?

Buffy Summers has posed:
Buffy Summers arches a brow at his sitting style and smirks. "I gather you've got some formal martial arts training in some Japanese fighting style or two, huh? That's a pretty swell outfit you got there." For the most part, she's picked up bits and pieces from here and there, mostly Karate, mixed with Kickboxing, and some Tai-Chi. Buffy was never a formal martial arts practitioner, having learned most of what she learned from pure instinct, coupled with practice sessions with Giles, and a few from Angel. She was never one for formalities, having never learned any proper traditional words or customs. But she is obviously an extremely skilled martial artist.

"Yeah, this place is pretty swell. Nicer in the day, free of vamps." she grins, wiping her forehead. "Well, I was just warming up if you wanna join me. Always fun to have a sparring partner, although I'd be more worried about ruining your own outfit." she smirks, eyeing him eveningly, sizing him up it seems. "I may be young, but you'd be surprised at what I know."

Wolverine has posed:
"Hai," Logan says in perfect Japanese, of course it's a word that pretty much every American, or Canadian for that matter, probably knows. "I know a bit," referring to his own martial arts background. They were far enough away from others that he could speak without worrying about others hearing, not that he cared much for secret identities and such. "So, you know that I'm a mutant, but what about you? Mutant, metahuman, magic crystal, what's yer story gorgeous?" He stood up, again moving in practiced precision, "I thought you'd never ask," to spar, "and how about this? Loser pays fer the dry cleaning?"

Buffy Summers has posed:
Buffy Summers chuckles, "Y'know, I always wanted to learn Japanese. It seems like such a..I dunno, Romantic, language? Guess I never really had the patience though. Hmm, that's a thought. Maybe I'll take a course in Japanese next semester." she arches a brow at the mention of Mutant, although she doesn't know a whole lot about metahumans beyond vampires and slayers to be honest. Mostly she just hung around in a tiny town in the middle of nowhere, full of vamps, witches, and a slayer.

She is a bit hesitant to answer his question initially, mostly because being a slayer is supposed to be a secret. But afterall, he already watched her take out some vamps without breaking a sweat. "Hmm, well actually, I'm what they call 'The Slayer'. Slayer of vampires, demons and other things that go bump in the night. I guess it's a kinda mystical calling." she chuckles, "I got the whole 'physically enhanced' skillset, I suppose through some magic mojo..But you didn't seem all that surprised by those vamps, so I guess you've encountered all sorts of wierd mojo in your line of work. What did you say you did again? History teacher?" she taps her chin thoughtfully, wondering if there's more to it than that. "So, you're a mutant huh? That's cool. I guess you got the whole physical enhancement power set too? I haven't really met a lot of mutants, but I'd like to get to know my cousins a little better.."

As for dry cleaning, she chuckles, "Planning on spilling some blood today, huh?"

Wolverine has posed:
Offering a bit of Japanese, Logan says, "Kireidesu ne. Sukidesu. Watashi ga o oshie shimasu." And then he says in English, "I'd be happy to teach you, or help ya with it if you take a course." He moves closer to her, taking on a stance, warming back up. He didn't need to, but it doesn't hurt either, and helps him find balance within. It's a constant struggle for the Wolverine.

He listens to her explanation, "the Slayer? I thought that was a myth." He'd heard of it before, and gives her another long once over, looking at her from the bottom of her feet to the top of her head, "all right then." Shaken from his thoughts, "ah yeah, met a few of them in my day. And that other bit, that all depends on how far ya want to take this. Sparring can get pretty physical."

Buffy Summers has posed:
Buffy Summers arches a brow. "Say what now?" she scratches her head and laughs, "Sorry, I don't know the slightest bit of Japanese, beyond Domo and Konnichiwa. What did you just say?"

She continues to warm up, although now she's mostly stretching her limbs, clasping her hands and stretching them in front and behind her, before working on her legs. "Hmm, is that what they're saying? Cool. I wonder if they've written books about me? Who'd have thought?"

The thought makes her feel a little humbled, honestly. Well, if they're all like you, sounds like an interesting lot. And don't worry about me getting physical. I'm used to it. Honestly, getting sprayed with demon blood and vampire dust and all that fun stuff. A healthy dose of sparring with a more or less human would be a welcome change."

Wolverine has posed:
Most men might have wilted, suggesting it was just a simple greeting, but Logan wasn't most men. He wasn't afraid of anything. And so when she asked him, point blank, what he said, he replied in English, "I said that yer beautiful, I like you, and I'll teach ya." Then again, she had said seconds ago that she found the language to be romantic. Usually he heard people saying that about French, not Japanese, but to each their own.

"Just that you, and all those who came before you, are like the boogey man. Watch out or the Slayer will get ya. Don't know about books, but heard stories about the Slayer around the campfire. Who'd thought it was real?" He started to go through his own stretches, cracking knuckles, and other bones. It was especially easy with his skelton, not so much to crack them, but to make the noise of it.

"You know that not all demons are what you'd call evil. Some are pretty regular guys, just tryin' to earn a living." Yeah, Logan's met all kinds of people, or creatures, in his travel. He's also learned that often times, the creepiest things to go bump in the night are the humans themselves.

Buffy Summers has posed:
Buffy Summers lifts an eyebrow at his compliments and smiles a little but doesn't blush or giggle shyly. "Oh..? Well, thank you, I appreciate it." Hey, she's a barrel of confidence as it is, and being a former miss popular cheerleader, she's used to it.

She smirks at the reference. "Well, I literally fought the boogeyman. He was kinda creepy in that you couldn't actually see him unless you were a kid. Or hallucinating. It was a big complicated thing trying to fight him. But, Nah, I'm the one who protects people from the boogeyman, honestly. I mean, unless you ARE the boogeyman. I mean, do I seriously look that scary?"

Buffy sighs as she finishes her warm up, taking another sip of water. "Yeah, funnily enough that is true too. I guess 'demon' is a broad word that just means otherworldly creatures. But the majority of the ones I have met were quite evil. I suppose it's an interesting line of work honestly. Not that I had much of a choice in the matter, really."

Wolverine has posed:
Listening to her past encounters with the boogeyman, Logan is impressed. She is quickly becoming one of the most fascinating people he knows. And Logan isn't the sort to ask follow up questions, but she's really piqued his curiosity. "No, I'm not the boogeyman," tough there have been more than a few stories told about the Wolverine over the campfire too. "And no, you don't look scary at all. Use it, keep it, sets people off guard. Never let go o' that cute and innocent vibe ya got going." After all, she was playing it up, sitting on that swing in the cemetery when the three vampires came a rustling.

That does make him wonder about the cemetery. What kind of cemetery has a swing? Still, Sunnydale's a bit of a different place. They have more cemeteries than parks. Taking up a defensive stance on the grass, he gestured with his hands for her to come at him. He wanted to see what she was made of.

Buffy Summers has posed:
Buffy Summers smiles, "I have heard the name Wolverine here or there. They say he's pretty scary too, but you seem pretty friendly. I mean, especially if you're a history teacher. Teachers are supposed to be friendly, right?" she smiles in that cheerful way of hers.

As for sunnydale, it's a small place, cemetaries and parks are more or less the same place. "So then, ready for a little sparring? And no need to go easy on me."

Wolverine has posed:
Logan hadn't mentioned his alter ego, though he did demonstrate his claws to her. She got a decent look at them, even if she kept calling them knives. She's more resourceful than he gave her credit. Maybe Willow found information about him on the internet, dark web maybe, or he could have been referenced in Giles' books. Logan had been around for almost two centuries and he'd made quite a name for himself.

"Heh, never been saddled with that one. Friendly. Heh." He was kind of the opposite of friendly, especially to anyone who pissed him off. "I teach people to live and survive. 'cept when I'm teaching history, then I'm teaching 'em about people who lived and survived, or didn't."

With her not wanting to take the first move, he decided to take the initiative, and lunged at her, throwing out a right fist, left fist, and as the second one struck, he deliberately unbalanced himself, using his right hand to push off into a two footed kicked. Yep, he wasn't pulling punches.

Buffy Summers has posed:
Buffy Summers arches a brow. "Hmm, I could be wrong, but it seems to fit the bill. Although, you don't look *that* old. Thought he was supposed to be like, 200 years old or so.." she sighs, "Geez, why do I always end up befriending Centurians?" whoops, she didnt mean to say that out loud.

Okay, anyways, back to the battle. She falls down into a defensive stance, right leg back, left leg forward, both slightly bent, hands clenched in front of her as she waits for him to make the first move, sizing him up. She easily steps forward and to the side, blocking the first set of punches, nearly getting hit by the two footed kick which she wasn't expecting, although she jumps in the air to avoid the lowish kick, countering with a jumping side kick.

"Heh, not bad."

Wolverine has posed:
Logan doesn't look as heavy as he is, and he's not made a sound on the grass, but he has left imprints on it that would suggest he weighs a lot more than he looks as well. The man's full of surprises. He rolls to the side to avoid the jumping side kick, coming back up into a crouching stance. "Yeah, ya got me," he admits to being the Wolverine.
Next, he moves, rotating his whole body into a spinning kick. He's good, really fast, though she's probably got him on the agility part. Question is, since neither have landed a blow, who has the strength advantage?

"Yer not bad yerself, Buffy," and he tries to reach for her, grabbing towards the torso tank top. If he can get a hold of her, the goal was to throw her. Logan's at his best close in, but it does open him up for a variety of counterattacks.

Buffy Summers has posed:
Buffy Summers is smaller for sure, and probably has the advantage of agility, but Logan's got strength, experience and reach on his side. She brings up her arms to block the spinning kick, but she's not expecting him to actually 'grab' her tank top. Her eyes widen as he grabs her and throws her. "H-hey! What the...!"

Even so, Buffy is prepared, and rather than fall helplessly to the ground, she catches herself, rolling and springing into a cartwheel, getting aroud the side of him in a wide circle, before rushing with a sudden, furious series of rapid jabs and punches before darting out again and mixing it up with a low footsweep.

Wolverine has posed:
Hitting Logan is like hitting a god damn iron plate. There is flesh and muscle, but its reinforced with adamantium bones, bones that help absorb the shock of an impact, while remaining rigidly in place. With her doing what boxers refer to as working the body, Logan holds up his forearms to protect himself, not that he really needs to. He can take a beating, but the forearms, they're even worse than his torso. It must be the top of those claws inside.

What he wasn't prepared for is her strength. She's stronger than him too. She's got super strength, but Logan's more like Captain America, just at the upper limit of human capability. Thankfully, his durability is through the roof. And he has that experience thing too. He knows how unsettling rage can be. So he messes with her. "Come on Buffy, that can't be all you've got. Put your back into it." How strange to be on the other side of this.

Buffy Summers has posed:
Buffy Summers narrows her eyes as she pulls back her hand. "Woah, what have you been eating? I've never fought a demon that felt that hard before." Not considering Adamantium is the hardest metal known to man. Ouch..

Fortunately, yes, she is super strong, super fast..And super tough too. And her strength is not through physical practice or even some fancy serum or x-gene. Instead, it's magically imbued, so her physique gives the illusion that she's less powerful than she really is.

She easily recovers as she ponders how to take this opponent down ."Yeah, I'm just warmin' up!" she cant overpower him obviously, but she may well be able to use his strength against him. She rushes in with a couple of punching feints, but this time she reaches for his arm, attempting to twist it and use it to send him off balance and toss him to the ground if she can.

Wolverine has posed:
"I ain't a demon, I'm a mutant." With an adamantium laced skeleton. He wasn't ready to explain that one yet, though she did see the metal claws, so she might have an idea. When she reaches for his arm and tries to twist it, she'll find that his arm weighs a lot more than it should. Yet he moves it effortlessly. She could too. It's not like he's immovable, just he's unexpectedly heavy, so when she tries to toss him, she needs a certain level of strength that she probably wasn't expecting. Using the momentary distraction of it, he leans into the tug, and throws his body against hers, trying to knock her down that way. She wanted to take him down, well, he'll take her with him. And as he does so, he offers a quip, "Lumberjack's breakfast, as always."

Buffy Summers has posed:
Buffy Summers is starting to think mutants are just as tough - if not tougher than demons perhaps. But then again she's fought lots of super strong demons. The adamantium factor is something unexpected however, and takes a bit more effort for her to throw him than it might normally do. She's thrown off-guard and loses her balance, falling on top of him. "Woah, you must weigh a ton! What, are your bones made of steel or something?" she's quick to slither out of a strangle hold however, offering him her hand if he'll take it. Buffy's more experienced with hand to hand melee and physical strikes, moreso than wrestling anyway. But this is quite the dilemma, and she's not about to give up now. "C'mon, one more round. I'm just getting started!"

Wolverine has posed:
She manages to get him onto his back, but he makes sure that she comes along for the ride. There's a brief awkward pause with her on top of him, and they have a sight conversation. "Nah, I'm not that heavy. Not a ton." He smiled up at her, "but yeah, remember the claws. Same stuff's all the way through." He smirks as she slithers out of the hold, getting up, and he will take her hand, rising to his feet alongside her. "Thanks, and sure." And round two had begun...
