Synopsis: The Turtles, Crystal, Conner, Joseph Miller and Cyclops stop creepy robot spiders from dragging mutants into the sewers!
Cast of Characters: Cyclops, Overlord, Crystal, Superboy, Leonardo

Cyclops has posed:
The streets in Bushwick are returning to their usual. With no Sentinels in the air over New York, people are relaxing and starting to go about their business. But people are on edge. Who knew when the Sentinels might come back, and the rumours about the subway incident were horrifying.

It is about dinnertime on a Monday, so people are coming home from work, getting something to eat or starting their evenings.

The Nachesko Building is a large, four storey brick building that has been up for lease for over a year. The windows are mostly boarded up and the doors are supposed to be locked. The owner did not bother to pay for security, so it soon became a squatter's paradise. It housed a lot of homeless mutants and even a couple of humans in dark, badly maintained rooms. The building had been stripped of anything that could be sold by scavengers and it was a wonder it had not yet burned down from the makeshift lights and heat sources squatters used.

Scott is walking down the street with his hands in pockets past the building. By habit, he looks down the alley between the Nachesko Building and the next one over. A manhole is open and several metal spiders with long metal tentacles are crawling out and up the wall of the Nachesko Building. They skitter and make faint robotic chirping noises as they move.

In the alley behind the Nachesko Building, two more manholes are open and the back wall is covered in spiders climbing up and into broken windows.

Overlord has posed:
Joseph Miller is walking along the streets. He often works night so is free during the day. He is still getting to know the area, and walk abouts help. He stops at a hotdog stand, getting a couple dogs all the way.

Crystal has posed:
Crystal's mission at the moment is to get a read of what's going on our here in the world outside of Attilan. She's at least determined that SHIELD isn't hunting down or imprisoning Inhumans, so that's a plus! But in the meantime, this Sentinel issue has been getting bigger and bigger. And if the humans are going to be like this about mutants, then it's probably wise to have a plan in mind for dealing with them if they try something similar with the Inhumans of Attilan before the kingdom announces itself to the world.

In jeans and a t-shirt, she looks like anyone else walking along the street here, even as she tries to figure out what must have happened independent of the news reports. She almost bumps into Scott when he stops on the sidewalk. "Excuse me, sorry," she starts to say, before following his gaze to the alley, brows rising. "I'm not from around here, but...that's not normal, is it?"

Superboy has posed:
Conner used to hang out in this neighborhood fairly often a year or two ago, when he was new into the city. It is colorful and he felt less strange here. And he made a couple friends, too.

Now he visits for different reasons. For one, it is a rather high crime area. For another, it has good and cheap food. Which is why he right there with a hotdog in his right hand, wearing sunglasses (because glasses are a great disguise) and not really paying attention to much else, including the Nachesko Building. Besides, derelict buildings are not uncommon in Mutant Town.

Give him a minute. Good hotdogs are hard to find.

Leonardo has posed:
Patrolling in pairs, Leonardo and Michelangelo are on a sweep through Mutant Town. They've made their way up to a rooftop across the street from the Nachesko Building, which they too have heard about as far as people hiding out in it goes. They've stopped in place to survey the area below, looking for signs of potential trouble. The Foot has been active around here before, and the turtles had to pull off a rescue of a friend in the area not so long ago.

While the orange-masked turtle slams home a piece of pizza - nothing wrong with eating on the job - it's the blue-masked one who spots it first. "Mikey, down there," Leo says in a hushed tone. It isn't completely dark out, so trying not to be too obvious when it comes to being seen is still important for ninja such as them. At least in this neighborhood, they can blend in better.

"Whoa, dude! We're the only ones who are supposed to be doing that!" Michelangelo exclaims, gesturing toward the open manhole covers incredulously. Leonardo can only frown. Cuts along his arms, legs, and even a couple spots atop his head look nearly healed from some recent trouble, and his mouth makes a thin line of seriousness. "I heard about those things. I thought people were just exaggerating but they really are that big. This is getting closer to home than I like. Come on."

Both descend a fire escape into the nearest alley. Both get their weapons ready.

Cyclops has posed:
"Not at all," Scott says. "Get back!"

Scott puts one hand up to his glasses and tilts them up for a second. A blast of ruby red laser fires out from his eyes toward a spider that is pulling the board off a window. There is a blue glow all around it as a force field intercepts the blast. The spider is blown off the wall and lands in the street. But it flips back onto its feet using its tentacles. A good seven of them start running down the alley toward Scott and Crystal.

"Oh my god! I fell! Help me!" A young female voice emits very loudly from the lead spider. Some people on the sidewalk who cannot see into the alley stop, turn and start jogging back.

"Everything okay?" a burly older man shouts, trotting down the sidewalk.

On the back of the building there are dozens. They are starting to enter the building on various floors. There is screaming from inside and the sounds of blasts, zaps and other mutant powers going off. A spider comes flying through the back wall, hits the building across the alley and falls three storeys to the ground. Its mangled frame twitches.

Overlord has posed:
Joseph Miller 's brow raises a bit and looking over at the glow, he will eat the last of his hot dog, and chugs his drink as he heads over to see what's going on. His height is an advantage to this and as he gets closer, he starts "Pardon me, coming through Super Hero In Training coming through." He jokes as he wipes his mouth.

Crystal has posed:
"I appreciate the sentiment, but I wouldn't worry about me." Crystal takes enough of a step back to make sure she's not in Scott's line of fire, but she doesn't run away. Looking to the spiders climbing the building, she raises a hand, eyes narrowing. At bidding, the stone of the walls starts to grow...sticky. Or at least that's what it looks like. The stone flows, catching at spider legs and making it harder for them to move. And in the process, it starts to flow across the windows, blocking them off from the would-be attackers.

Superboy has posed:
Conner takes a bite of the hotdog.

And everything goes wrong. It is karma. Cyclops red-toned forceblast is shakes Conner out of his 'ignore supersenses' mode and he, well, is a bit overwhelmed. Spider robots, mutant powers, cries for help, fake cries for help.

He pulls out the sunglasses and drops the hotdog, then flies straight up about twenty yards and attempts to make sense of the situation. Then he falls hard on the group charging towards Scott and Crystal (and the street beyond). The young man doesn't stop to check if he managed to destroy any of the robots, though, but jumps into the building from where the screams and sounds of fighting are coming.

Leonardo has posed:
Michelangelo points at Joseph, overhearing the very tall man. "Haha, Super Hero In Training, Leo. You know what that means, right? It means--ow!"

Sometimes, even Leonardo has to give Mikey a whap upside the head. "Stay focused. Those people need our help. I saw some kind of field around the one that just got zapped, so be careful. We don't know what they can do yet. And that guy has some kind of laser beam eye attack." He stops, noting Summers, just on the verge of piling out of the alley with Michelangelo. "Did that one just speak like a little girl?" It leaves the turtle leader both looking and sounding confused, but signs of fighting from within the building soon become very clear. They can't really afford the time to be stealthy, so onlookers will see two green humanoid turtles crossing the street, one with a pair of katanas out, the other swinging nunchucks.

Michelangelo calls out, "Cowabun--HEY WATCH IT!!" as the driver of a car lays on the horn and swerves! Mikey flips forward and keeps going.

Leonardo just continues on and launches into a dual slashing attack across the body of the closest spider he sees. Time to find out what they're made of.

Cyclops has posed:
Conner lands in the middle of the pack of spiders charging at Lorna and Scott. Two are just crushed as he ploughs through their shields and makes a small crater in the concrete. The rest are thrown. Two stick against the melting rock of Nachesko Building wall. The other half dozen up and down the wall are stuck as well, making little or no progress.

Two of the spiders that were thrown arc over Scott's and Crystal's heads. They land on their feet in front of Leonardo and Michaelangelo. Leo's first blades bite into the side carapace, taking off two legs. Both spiders reach out with their metal tentacles and try to grab Leonardo and Michaelangelo around the waist, right there on the sidewalk.

Conner lands in a hallway on the third floor. There spiders up down the hallway, trying to get into rooms. Flashes and booms suggest there are mutants fighting back. A massive blast of... Goo.... shoots out of one door. The floor and wall in the hallway melt, along with two spiders.

"Good work, hold them there," Scott say to Crystal, just sliding into operating with her. "Get ready to move to the end of the alley."

He takes a step sideways closer to the building, tilts his glasses up and shaves a searing blast up the side of the building, more powerful than the last. Shields flare, pop and spiders are cored. They fall off the side of the building. He puts his glasses down and starts running toward the far end of the alley, toward the back of the building.

Two spiders in the alley right themselves and launch themselves at Scott. One is trying to climb out of the manhole. The back wall of the building still has a whole bunch.

Overlord has posed:
Joseph Miller will head on into the brawl, but seeing the first spider's calling out, the big man move to grab one of the spiders and digs his fingers into the shell, to rip one open and make sure no one is inside them better to be safe than sorry on that front before smashing them.

Crystal has posed:
"With pleasure," Crystal replies to Scott, falling in at his side. As one of the spiders launches itself at the mutant, she reaches out her other hand, summoning a sphere of water up from the sewers where they came and shooting it between Scott and the spider. It takes some concentration, but as she jogs after Scott, she forces the liquid between the joints and molecules of the spider's carapace, waterlogging any internal circuitry before letting it and the sphere of water fall to the concrete.

The stone of the wall creeps up the legs of the trapped spiders, starting to encase them up to their carapaces to keep them from ripping off limbs and continuing to move. Perhaps oddly, despite her concentration, the woman seems to have no problem running after Scott - if anything, she seems to be carefully matching his pace.

Superboy has posed:
"Holy..." Conner gives that corrosive goo a wide berth. Obviously that was one mutant that does not need help. However, he does check there is no one else getting eaten by the good in the floor underneath. Then he touches the wall and lets his telekinesis spread out, trying to pinpoint by 'touch' and sound where the spiders are, then running to the closest one and attempting to punch it out of the building. Because last Conner saw the fall worked well at breaking them.

And he has no time to do fancy, he wants to push all the spiders out of the building before they kill anyone, or cause too much structural damage. Place is too old for this.

Leonardo has posed:
"Awww. Leo, it wants a hug!" Michelangelo coos, but as soon as he realizes it's not the kind of hug that would leave him feeling very good afterward, the 'chuks get to swinging. "Wham!" he sounds out as he makes contact, sending the robotic spider reeling.

Leonardo doesn't even let 'his' spider get that close. The swords cut through the air, moving almost too quickly to be seen, cleaving the thing in half before moving on toward more of them. His attacks aren't completely fluid compared to his usual, which his brother would see more than anyone else, but he certainly looks more than capable.

"Watch those covers in case any more spill out," he says to Michelangelo. "Looks like we've got some help on our side, but be careful." Mikey's busy whacking spiders in the head with his nunchucks as he goes. "One for you, and one for you, and another for you, and..."

Cyclops has posed:
When Joseph rips open the spider, there is nothing inside but circuits, servo motors and the like. Another spider lands near Joseph and tries to get its tentacles around him. Ahead Joseph down the alley, he can see Scott sprinting with Crystal kindly not lapping him. The spiders hit by Lorna's water burst drop like rocks into the ground and sizzle.

Scott hurdles one of the wrecks and keeps going until he gets to the end of the building. Careful not to touch the melting stone, he peeks around the corner and sees more on the walls.

"Need that melted brick again," he says to Crystal. Scott blasts a spider bot coming out of each manhole near the building. He glances down the alley they ran down and sees Joseph and the turtles. "They with you?" he asks Crystal.

There are spiders advancing across all the floors inside. The mutants inside are doing a decent job of protecting themselves, but some are starting to scream to be let go.

Conner's punches send spiders hurtling down hallways, collecting others in their way, and smashing through walls. The spiders slam into the walls of the next buildings over, including across the street on the one side. Pretty quickly, the third floor is devoid of creepy spider creatures.

"We got all the spiders up here!" a loud male voice calls from the fourth floor.

Some mutants are starting to spill out of the front doors into the street, scrambling to escape. More spiders can be seen inside through the front doors.

Crystal has posed:
Crystal shifts her attention from the spiders already stuck in the stone to the next set climbing up the walls, glancing over her shoulder at Scott's question of the turtles. "Hmm?" she asks, arching a brow as she gives them a closer look. "Not unless we have some new recruits," she muses, though she doesn't seem to be ruling it out.

"Do you know anything about these things?" she asks as stone starts to encase another round of spiders. "Weaknesses? Qualities? I have options, but there seem to be...a lot of them." Testing a theory, she runs a shock of electricity through one of the trapped spiders, then applies a bit of magnetic force to another to see what happens to the outer carapace.

Overlord has posed:
Joseph Miller will look at the spider as it tries to grab him, and instead Joe grabs it's tentacles, and starts spinning the thing above his head like a mace as he steps forward looking to pummel one spider with another. The big man does head towards the building as well. Checking on it to see how stable it is.

Superboy has posed:
That is one floor clear and Conner flies up to the fourth, to look for more robots. "Everyone out!" He yells, trying to be quick and find where the metallic monsters have captured mutants or are about to kill them.

But Superboy is not as fast as a true Kryptonian. He hears the sounds of fighting outside and can only hope no one is getting murdered while he is inside the old builing.

Leonardo has posed:
"They're weak against physical attacks," Leonardo says, coming up closer to Crystal and Scott while Michelagelo whoops it up, each swing of the nunchuks hitting its target. "Wait for it, waaaait for iiiiit..." he taunts another spider, before he makes an adjustment to his weapons, at which point a sharp blade extends from one end. The kusarigama spikes the next spider he encounters.

Leonardo dispatches a few more that have fallen from the floors above, taking advantage of any openings he's got as the swords cut through tentacles and metallic bodies. Sheathing one of his swords, it gives him the opportunity to withdraw a handful of shuriken and, after flinging them at a few more spiders, they all fall with the throwing stars stuck in the middle of their heads. "How are we looking? Is everyone all right so far?"

Cyclops has posed:
"Mutant hunters, force fields, shock fields on those tentacles. No ranged weapons. They aren't EMP hardened," Scott answers in a clipped voice.

The magnetised spider loses coordination and flails around. The electricity works very well on the other.

He fires blasts up the sides of both the alley wall and the rear wall, frying some spiders stuck in Crystal's rock glue.

When Joseph grabs the spider by the tentacles it starts to build up an ugly charge to zap him. But he smacks it into several other spiders before it can discharge and the thing goes dead as it is crushed. But that zap would have been nasty. Apparently the tentacles are not kind. Thankfully though, the building seems to be fine. Whatever is happening, these things are not trying to collapse the building.

On the fourth floor, Conner sees a half dozen spiders with limp bodies of people in their tentacles heading for the windows on the back walls. Another spider is emitting a loud male voice yelling that everything is just fine on the fourth floor, all the spiders are destroyed.

"Unknown number inside. I think the third floor is clear. Can you two get the second floor?" he asks the turtles, barely skipping a beat at their appearance. For now.

"I don't think you need me, so you take first floor," Scott says to Crystal. "I'll make sure no reinforcements come up or any get away."

Overlord has posed:
Joseph Miller shakes his hands as he may have felt the tingle from that charge a bit even if not a full zap. He will move towards Cyclops, and looks around to take on any stragler spiders not in the building. He would not have wanted to go into the building before it looked like swiss cheese, and less so now.

Crystal has posed:
"I'm more concerned with if you need me," Crystal points out to Scott, a glimmer of amusement in her features before she turns to the turtles. "Need a lift?" she offers. Should they agree, a controlled wind tunnel will lift them to one of the windows, where the melted stone will part to let them inside.

Whoever this woman is, she has a number of tricks up her sleeves, and enough experience not to balk at working with strangers.

She heads for the ground floor then, pushing past the people rushing outside. "Everybody stay calm!" she calls above the chaos. "Help each other out in an orderly fashion, then get clear of the building!" She sounds like she's used to being listening to as well.

Superboy has posed:
Conner did think for a second the fourth floor was fine after the 'man's' statement. Fortunately he did think to check first... And now he stands in front of the spiders, looking somewhat baffled as the spider keeps yelling. "Okay now. You shut up," he points to the screaming one. "And you drop that people. Assuming you can understand me. If you don't or don't want to listen, we can go to plan B. It involves a lot of robot smashing."

Leonardo has posed:
Leonardo glances toward Michelangelo, then reaches out to grab him by the back of the belt that wraps around his shell. "We'll clear it out, and right now whatever gets us there faster is fine with me." That doesn't mean he's ready for Crystal's method, but it works as well as any other way.

The pair of turtles soon get to work on dealing with whatever spiders they encounter one floor above street level, sounds of destruction following - and, of course, Michaelangelo whooping it up.

Cyclops has posed:
The spiders on the fourth floor pay little attention to Conner. The ones with people in tow start crawling out the windows. The yelling one and two others jump at Conner, trying to get their tentacles on him, red optics glowing.

"I can definitely hear more fighting on the first..." Scott starts to say to Joseph. "Can you get them down without hurting the hostages?" he asks the stranger as spiders start to come out the fourth and second floor windows with people in their tentacles.

The first floor is a zoo. People are fleeing, spiders are jumping around in a huge great room grabbing at them. There are some spider bot wrecks in the room.

The second floor hallways are full of robots. Some of have victims, some do not. As a group, they are starting to head to the back windows. The closest ones to the Turtles try to grab them with their tentacles.

Superboy has posed:
"So much for diplomacy," mutters Conner, receiving the jumping spiders with punches. One of them manages to wrap a tentacle around him. A rather electrifying experience, but Conner manages to rips it off and uses as a club on the spider's head.

Then he turns to the ones leaving through the windows, managing to catch one to try to pull it back in. He has to be more careful, since there is a prisoner involved. So he relies to his heat vision to try to cut the tentacles. Then it is going to chase after the other critter. Since these are trying to capture people, he is going to hope they are not attacking to kill.

Crystal has posed:
Inside on the first floor, Crystal grimaces at the chaos. Step one: spiders. Those are clearly a problem. Just how to deal with it without harming captured people...

She takes a deep breath, eyes narrowing as she builds a magnetic field near the ceiling to draw the spiders up and out of the crowd. (The second floor may well feel the effects on their end). That should give the captives a chance to be retrieved.

Only then does she address the problem of panicking mutants. Walls of air spring up through the entry, creating neat little funnels to channel people outside in an orderly fashion. It's not perfect, but it's structure. That may be Attilan's national motto.

"I said, ORDERLY," she calls, using a trick of the air to augment her voice. "Stay calm. The situation is being handled."

Leonardo has posed:
Leonardo's warnings for Mikey's benefit are heeded. When he's focused, the orange-masked turtle is still a /very/ capable fighter. Spiders continue to fall and Leonardo calls out, "Stop the ones trying to get away with the people!" No need to add another urge to be careful. They know what they're doing.

More go down, and Leonardo focuses on slicing off as many tentacles as he needs, driving his katanas through as many bodies as it takes, and they cut a path to the back through whatever they come across. "You won't have them, evil spiders!" Leo claims, unable to resist a cheesy, heroic line. Hopefully the others heard it.

Cyclops has posed:
The magnetic levitation works very well. The spiders flail, as if disoriented, and drop their victims. And with that bit of guidance, people fleeing fall into the path of least resistance and get themselves outside post-haste.

Leonardo and Michaelango wade through a torrent of spiders. Some seem a little confused at one point, but that just made them easier to slice and bash. Michaelangelo manages to beat the spiders trying to leave with people into sizzling carcasses. Their unconscious victims are alive and seem to be unharmed. Soon there are no more spiders up there.

A few spiders make it out of the building. Scott lets them climb down the walls and then cores each one carefully with a concentrated blast from his eyes. He takes a moment to listen, then stands up fully. Then he jogs into the first floor and catches the end of Crystal clearing it out.

"Glad you showed up," he says and fishes in his pocket. "You know anything about these things, give me a call." He hands crystal a plain white card that has Scott and his number on it in simple type. Without a goodbye, he turns and runs after the fleeing mutants, crouching like someone fleeing a possible explosion. He disappears into the crowd across the street.

Crystal has posed:
"I don't know a-" Crystal takes the card from Scott, quirking a brow as he flees the scene and then flipping the card a few times between her fingers to make sure she's read it all. "Well all right then."

Tucking the card safely into her pocket, she looks to the spiders everywhere, grimacing. "Well. These things are going to make a mess," she murmurs to herself before stepping outside. She really ought to fix the building facade before she goes. It's just polite.

Leonardo has posed:
Leonardo and Michelangelo change up tactics, from taking out spiders to recovering the people they were trying to make off with. "Good work, bro," Leo says, and mutants or not, it may be a good thing the people are knocked out. It may be Mutant Town, but who knows if every type of 'mutant' will be looked at without someone freaking out?

Once back outside, Leonardo reports, "All clear, and we didn't lose anyone as far as I know." About that time, the card is being pressed into his hand, and he squints at it before tucking it away. Quick exit.

"Uh, Leo? That was radical but can we pick up some more pizza on the way back home? Woody's getting a special order ready!" Michaelangelo asks. Without waiting around, the turtles beat feet but not before Leo at least says to anyone else still around, "Thanks for the assist."
