Another day in Gotham
Date of Scene: 09 July 2019
Location: Gotham Crime Alley
Synopsis: Buffy fights a vampire gang and comes across an unlikely ally..Later, Oz joins her and they hang out for a bit.
Cast of Characters: Buffy Summers, Beast, Daniel Osborn

Buffy Summers has posed:
Oh, there's Buffy, doing the ol' patrol thingy. Patrolling in Gotham was quite different from patrolling in Sunnydale. Not only did Buffy have to deal with vampires and other demons, but she had to deal with crime. Lots and lots of it. Sometimes she had to deal with criminal vampires rolled into one. Oh joy..

So yeah, here she is, patrolling 'Crime alley', taking a long walk home through back alleys alone. Just a 'helpless lil' blonde girl'. Ooh, looks like someone gangstas saw her and are now following her into some dark alley. Did she notice?

Beast has posed:
Henry McCoy doesn't often have to come to a neighborhood like this. Fortunately. But he's a big guy, and the professor was coming into this neighborhood to help a former student. Coming out of a building, the large blue man walks downt the street, pulling out his phone, he sees the activitise going on, and quietly follows, standing at the end of the alley, phone being put away.

Buffy Summers has posed:
There are five, maybe six of them. They look drunk. And rough, and big. And pretty rowdy as they follow the petite, helpless looking 'damsel in distress'. And what's wrong with their faces? They look like they got ridges or something around their foreheads and rather creepy sharp teeth.

They follow the blonde girl (who seems totally oblivious, like, totally!) into the alleyway, totally focused on her and totally missing the blue guy as they laugh and chortle and catcall at her.

"Hey there girlie, lookin' for a good time?" they taunt her..But the girl just turns around, appearing scared. "Ooh please don't hurt me, I'm just a helpless girl..!" She holds something behind her back, waiting for them to come closer..

Beast has posed:
Henry McCoy doesn't actually wait. Once the phone's locked and in his pocket, the big guy takes off. Moving far faster than a guy his size should properly be going, he does his best to leap into the air and tackle three or four of them at once, if he can pull it off.

Buffy Summers has posed:
"What the heck!?" one of the vampires snarls as he's knocked off-balance. Another is knocked off his feet but two more dart away with surprising agility, snarling and turning on the Beast as they bare powerful fangs. One of them swipes at him with sharp and powerful claws, while another swings a spiked club at him with incredible, superhuman force as it charges at him at dizzying speeds. Buffy narrows her eyes as she peers at the new arrival, not sure if he's one of the good guys or bad guys. But she has little time to respond as two more vamps charge at her, brandishing weapons of some sort. No longer the helpless 'damsel in distress', she spins and kicks one of the vamps with incredible agility, slamming him into the far wall before a second vamp attempts to nelson grab her. "I mean seriously? That trick is getting old." she responds perikly as she grabs him and hurls him into the other vamp.

Beast has posed:
Henry McCoy glances at the girl, and when she starts fighting back, he nods approvingly. Though it'd be easy to miss it as he starts moving. LEaping out of the way of being double teamed, he grunts "Tough ones." Grabbing a windowsill, he climbs up to survey what he's seeing. And getting out of reach so he can plan. Even if only for a moment.

Buffy Summers has posed:
"Of course, they're vamps." she arches a brow at Blue boy over there, deciding he must be an ally as he's not exactly helping the vamps. However, she has little time to discourse in a heated debate about 'why yes, they DO exist!' But with two vamps down and the rest climbing quickly to their feet, she rushes at the pair she recently threw into the wall, hurling a stake at them, instantly piercing their hearts and turning them to dust.

"Two down, four to go!" she grins, cocking her finger at the four remaining vamps. "C'mon, who's up next?" One of them chickens out and turns tail to flee. One more charges at her, engaging in a heated battle where they exchange blows for several minutes, before Buffy twists his arm behind his back, shoving him to the ground before stabbing him from the back through the heart.

"That makes three.." she peers around as the two remaining vamps leap towards Henry, one of them easily leaps up to the windosill where Beast is, snarling and attempting to slash at his head with amazing force. Buffy manages to grab the last vamp by the leg, hurling him to the ground and engaging him there. "Look out, blue boy!" she calls up to the blue furred stranger.

Beast has posed:
Henry McCoy is impressed with how quickly she takes them out. And well, he saw what she did, and decides to emulate it. Unfortunately doing a bit of vandalism by tearing a hunk of wood from the wndow sill he's standing on, he's now armed. Then leaping up, grabbing the nex window up, he does a great simian swing to get in the air, and then collapses down onto climbing vampire boy, impaling him with the improvised stake.

Buffy Summers has posed:
Buffy Summers grins up at blue boy, equally impressed by his feats of strength and agility. He must be at least as strong as the vamps she is fighting. And the vamp too, is surprised and taken off-guard as Henry stabs it with an improvised stake, causing it to explode into dust.

"Heh, not bad. Guess you're on my side afterall.." Oh right, there's still one vamp left, and with Buffy's attention on Henry, she doesn't turn around quickly enough to defend his strike as he swings his spiked club at her head, which sends her flying across the alleyway, crashing into a pile of trashcans.

"Hahaha! Bigmouth! Wait til they hear I killed The Slayer!" he ignores Henry as he stalks towards Buffy..Who must surely be dead after such a brutal hit..Right?

Daniel Osborn has posed:
Why, exactly, is Oz in this part of Gotham? Especially at night? Because he got lost, that's why. He was looking for the Hugo building, but was given bad directions by some shady person, so now he's in Crime Alley, at the worst time to be in a place called Crime Alley. But at least he's got weapons. At night he always carries a stake and some holy water, and now he's also carrying a dagger. Not only that, but tonight he has his bow on him. Good thing too, because he's about to need it. His hearing picks up the faint sounds of a struggle, and he picks up Buffy's scent on the wind, which means he knows she's in the area. He decides to follow the sounds of fighting, which lead him toward the alley where the fight is happening. On the way, he spots someone fleeing for his life. Oz knows immediately, based on the scent and the look of the guy, that this is a vampire, and he's quick to hide in the shadows before he can be spotted. He hides, hoping the fleeing vampire passes without seeing. Before the vampire gets to him, though, he notches an arrow into his bow. If he's lucky, once the vampire is past he'll move out behind him and fire a shot, his aim dead set for his back, with as much draw as Oz could possibly put on that string. The shot, if it hits, should be strong enough to at least go through the guy's spine, if not go all the way through to his heart.

Beast has posed:
Henry McCoy doesn't hear the bow. But that's because he's taking advantage of being ignored. Still on the window, he has a chance to jump off of that windowsill, and once again use gravity to slam his makeshift weapon into the braggart vampire. "Personal foul, offense, 15 yards, fourth down."

Buffy Summers has posed:
Well, that darned fleeing vampire is too busy fleeing said Slayer to really pay attention to a harmless looking human, and when Oz aims and fires his crossbow at him, his aim is true, impaling the poor vamp and dusting him after a little snarling and struggling. Poof! and he's gone.

Meanwhile, back in the alley...

The vampire laughs and gloats as he pauses to look down at the supposedly 'dead' slayer. "Hahah! I killed the slayer, I killed the slay----aaargh!!" and suddenly he is dusted..Moments before Buffy groans and climbs back to her feet, cracking her neck and stretching her arms.

"Ouch. That hurt. That really hurt! And after I just had a nice relaxing massage.." she sighs, wiping dust off her cute denim miniskirt and tucking her stake back into her purse. "Oh! I guess I owe you one." She grins up at Henry. "Thanks for your assistance. I wasn't sure at first if you were a demon or not but..Seems you're here to help at least..?" she leaves that question in the air, not entirely sure what to make of him..

Daniel Osborn has posed:
Oz was no harmless looking human in the end. In fact, when he pulled that string back, his eyes had briefly turned black and he nearly broke the string, but he's back to normal without anyone realizing he'd changed. He retrieves his arrow, and soon he's jogging back toward the alley. Eventually he reaches it, bow on his back as he approaches Buffy. "Hey Buffy. Who's your friend?" he asks, when he reaches them, turning to offer the big blue thing a friendly smile.

Beast has posed:
Henry McCoy straightens up, and dusts off his sut, checking for any damage, and sighs. "We'll have to talk. I have to get back and check on my student. Give me a call, or a message." He reaches into his coat, pulling out a card, and spinning it Buffy's way. "If you need any help, don't hesitate." And then he takes off.

Buffy Summers has posed:
Buffy Summers arches a brow at Henry, "Hmm, well...We just met, but I think he's on our side?" she blinks, "Ooh, are you a mu---.." But it seems he's in a hurry and she just nods, taking his number. "Sure. Thanks again! Take care, okay?" she waves to him before focusing on Oz. "Heya Oz, wassup? Thanks for catching that runaway. It's always fun to watch 'em turn tail and run."

Daniel Osborn has posed:
Oz chuckles. "You okay? You look a little banged up," he says, noting Buffy's head where she was hit. "I actually got lost. Never trust shady people in this part of town at this time of night."

Buffy Summers has posed:
Buffy Summers smiles, rubbing her sore head. "Yeaah, just a little souvenir from an over anxious vampy. It'll heal..Eventually." she shrugs, rubbing her neck some more. "Got lost, huh? Are you touring in Gotham too, or enrolling in classes afterall?"

Daniel Osborn has posed:
Oz shakes his head. "No, but I figured I'd check out the apartment building you and Willow are staying in, wanna get out of my parents' house and all." He shrugs. "But it turns out that after a show in new york City, coming straight here was a bad idea. It was later than I thought it'd be." He chuckles. "Ice cream is a good distraction, too."

Buffy Summers has posed:
Buffy Summers nods and sighs, yawning a bit. "If you like, I can show you around. Gotham sure is a crazy place. Lots more crime here versus Sunnydale. At least at Sunnydale all we had to worry about were vamps. And Demons. Oh, and a hellmouth. Actually, now that I think about it, that's a heck of a lot to worry about. But now..I dunno.." she sighs, trying to massage her neck a bit more. "I mean, not only do I have to worry about vampires, but vampire gangs and demon crooks and criminals. I guess a slayer's job is never finished, even if she's no longer living on hellmouth central. But then, maybe there's a hellmouth around Gotham too?"

Daniel Osborn has posed:
"I sure hope not," oz says. "Sure, may as well join you on patrol. And maybe show me where the hell that building is. My phone died." Yeah, this is probably the worst place to be with a dead phone, and to be lost, at night. At least Oz was lucky enough to find Buffy, and also lucky enough to have his holy water, stake, and bow on him. Oh the dagger too.

Buffy Summers has posed:
Buffy Summers hmms and nods, walking alongside Oz down the street, now that thugs are taken care of. She pulls out her arm, glancing at a beautiful and elaborate watch with Japanese characters on its pink Lotus blossom face. "Well, at least my watch didn't get damaged..." She seems pretty protective of her watch, wiping some dust and dirt off it. "Hmm, so what were you looking for again? I was hoping to head home soon, could give you the tour. Wil's probably fast asleep by now.."

Daniel Osborn has posed:
Oz looks at Buffy's watch. "Where'd you get that?" he asks, curiously. It's rather nice, after all. "Was looking for the same building you live in. But i didn't want to be out this late. Maybe I'll just find my van and sleep there or something." He half shrugs, but he sticks with Buffy. After all, if he left her now he'd just get lost again, alone, and that'd be very bad.

Buffy Summers has posed:
Buffy Summers bites her lip, glancing down at the watch and blushes a bit. "Oh..Oh this? Eh...It was um..A gift. Yeah, definitely a gift." She's happy to change the subject. "Oh! Right. The Hugo building. Well..I can take you there. You shouldn't sleep in your van though, it's not that safe out here." she smiles as she leads him down the street towards said building. "You could always sleep on the couch, you know? It's a bit small, but the couch at least is comfy."

Daniel Osborn has posed:
"A gift from who?" oz asks curiously, with the slightest smirk. He hadn't seen her with it before, so he could guess she got it recently, and, well, if it's from who he thinks it's from... "Alright, if you're sure," Oz says, "that'd be nice." Until the awkward moment in the morning when Willow finds him there...that'll be interesting. But, well, it'll be a place to stay, right, so he shouldn't worry about that. Right? Right. Totally.

Buffy Summers has posed:
Buffy Summers bites her lip. "Um..Someone.." from the shifty eyes, he can probably guess one of two people, but a certain blonde Vampire isn't known for speaking Japanese. "ANYWAY, yes, I'm sure she'd be okay. Heck, I'll text her right now, she may be staying over at a friend's tonight. I think they were doing some witch's coven meetup, so they may be doing a sleepover thing. Just a sec.." She pulls out her cell phone and starts texting away to Wil, who doesn't respond right away. "Well, I told her that you'd be sleeping in her bed tonight, cuz I assumed she'd be at that meetup. So either way, at least I've given her a heads up." she grins, "Soo, how long are you in town for?"

Daniel Osborn has posed:
Oz's eyes widen slightly. "You, I...WHAT?" Oh yeah, things just got more awkward. Yeah, that might bring back memories. "Um, er...until I leave again?" he says, with a slight smirk, being silly, and trying to get rid of the awkwardness. "Yeah, what's his name?" he asks, in reference to her response to her earlier question with just, "someone", he knows it's someone important, after all.

Buffy Summers has posed:
Buffy Summers arches a brow, "Hmm? You alright?" she smiles and shrugs, "Oh you know Wil, always dabbling in magic here and there. I figure she's probbly joined one of those Wiccan clubs by now. But I could be mistaken. She's often out at odd hours, busy with school work and learning new spells. I guess she's got a lot on her plate." she chuckles at his response. "Ah, alright. That's cool. Just be careful while you're in town, like I said, Gotham's a pretty dangerous place. There's soo much crime. It's insane! I seriously need to talk to Giles, I wonder if there's a Hellmouth here somewhere too.." Oh right. Back to her watch and her complicated relationship problems. Buff draws a deep breath, still looking a little blushed and self-conscious. "Um..You know..Logan.." She looks away again, feeling a bit flustered, "I know I know, you think he's too 'old' for me or whatever, but he's actually really sweet. And kinda cute. Plus, at least he's not a vampire. That's a bonus. But.." Buffy sighs, rubbing her temples, "I mean..I'm still getting over the whole thing with Parker, and before that, the whole Angel thing still hurts a little, even years afterwards. I guess I'm just afraid of things moving too quickly, even though I'm trying really hard not to. Maybe I need to be more reserved?" but sometimes that can be really, really hard. Especially when sparks fly so easily between them.

Daniel Osborn has posed:
"Always listen to your heart," Oz says, patting buffy on the shoulder. "If it tells you to go for it, then go for it. Just be careful. Love can be the thing that feels the best, and the worst, always remember that." He offers a smile. After all, who is he to tell her who she can and can't date? besides, he'd rather her be with Logan than Spike. he's met Logan, and he seemed like a respectable guy. Definitely not a vampire, and really, the older, the more experienced, so... Of course, there's still the matter of being in Willow's bed. "Um, what am I gonna do if she is home?" he asks, still feeling a little awkward about that.

Buffy Summers has posed:
Buffy Summers sighs, "Yeah..That's what led me to Angel, and we all know how that turned out. I just..Falling hard and fast for someone and getting your heart crushed sucks, you know? But never knowing..That kinda sucks too." she smiles, "But thanks for the support. I mean..Yeah, there's still the awkwardness from Spike, but you're right, at least Logan's not a vamp. And he's a gentleman too..." more blushing from some awkward memory no doubt. "So uh...At least he doesn't look like an old guy, right?" she laughs nervously, shaking her head. "Welll, if she's there, I'll just tell her the truth, that you're in town and got caught up in a vampire fight and got lost and didn't really have time to find a place to crash for the night. I dunno how she'd feel about you staying there for more than a night or two though, but.." she shrugs, "C'mon, Oz. It's Wil. Even if things are different between you, you guys are still friends. And besides. I'll be with you, if she has issues, she can take 'em up with me."

Daniel Osborn has posed:
Oz nods, still walking with Buffy. "Alright," he says, "I don't think we'll have problems, except for the part about you telling her I was taking her bed and all that, I mean..." He shakes his head, closing his eyes to get rid of that nonsense in his head. "Hey, Logan seemed like a good guy to me. Hopefully he's not cursed to lose his soul when you jump into bed with him." He can't help but smirk just slightly, though he sort of does feel for Angel. After all, that has to be rough.

Buffy Summers has posed:
Buffy Summers smirks, "Well, I'll just tell her it's my idea. I mean, you can always take the couch like I said. Maybe that's the better idea. Wouldn't want her to come home and crawl into bed with you...I mean..I'm sure you wouldn't mind that but if she's still uncertain about where you two stand.." she holds up her hands in surrender. "I'm sorry! this must be difficult for you.." she arches a brow at Oz's curse soul comment and smirks, "Sure. I mean, like that's totally common..I mean, I hope it's not a common thing. I mean, among mutants either. Geez, that would suck. I mean. He's got like..Knives popping out of his knuckles. I wouldn't want to surprise him or something. Those knives are really sharp."

Daniel Osborn has posed:
Yeah, it is hard for him, and Buffy's comments aren't making it any easier, but he takes a deep breath and lets it go. "It's okay," he says. "Just..." He takes another deep breath, letting it out slowly and shaking his head. "Knives coming out of his nuckles? You...really...don'twanna get on the wrong side of that."

Buffy Summers has posed:
Buffy Summers bites her lip, patting Oz again gently on the back. "I'm really sorry. I didn't mean to bring that up. I mean if you're not comfortable staying there, by all means stay in the van. We might have a guest suite too, but at this late hour, I dunno. But if you do go for the van, at least text me every few hours and let me know you're okay. Like I said, Gotham streets are pretty shady most days and nights.." she flinches a bit. "Uh yeah, he's pretty vicious in a fight. I remember the last time I sparred with him. Painful. Didn't use the claws on me, but his entire skeleton is laced with adamantium I guess? A super strong metal which is quite painful when you try to punch him. But afterall, I can heal pretty fast, just gotta not catch him by surprise. I'm sure I'll manage."

Daniel Osborn has posed:
"It's okay," oz responds, with a slight nod. "I'll stay there, it's probably more comfortable." He keeps walking, opening up his senses as he walks, just in case. After all, Buffy was on patrol for vampires, so there might be more. "That's pretty tough stuff, adamantium," he says, seemingly in thought. "Wouldn't wanna get on the wrong side of him."

Buffy Summers has posed:
Buffy Summers chuckles, "Yeah..Don't worry, we're almost there. Hmm.." she rubs her chin thoughtfully, "As long as you don't need lots of space. Err..So your..Wolf tendencies. You..Those are totally under control now, right? We don't have to..Lock you up or anything? I know you mentionned meditating with buddhist monks or something but I dunno how that works near a full moon. Like, being in a small room with two girls, that's not gonna make it harder for you to uh, control your wolf self, will it?

As for adamantium, she just shrugs and sighs, "Yeah, better not get on his bad side. I mean..If he ever met Spike, i'm sure things could get hairy.."

Daniel Osborn has posed:
Oz can't help but smirk just slightly, but whatever he's thinking, he keeps it to himself. "I'll be fine," he says, with a half shrug. "Hey, maybe he could finally get rid of spike, it'd save us some trouble." He half shrugs.

Buffy Summers has posed:
Buffy Summers arches a curious brow at Oz. "Hmm? Whatcha thinking?" she grins, playfully elbowing him, "Penny for your thoughts? You're always hard to read..Alright, I'm sure you'll be fine. It's actually a relief, it must have sucked, being stuck in a cage a few days a month." she continues to lead him down the street, walking quickly by some guys huddled around a makeshift fire, smoking on some strong smelling substance that's definitely not cigarettes. Elsewhere, people quickly shut their doors and close their windows. There aren't a lot of stores that stay open late around this time of night and place. "well..Spike is at least trying to be good..Maybe. I dunno, I just kinda..Pity him you know? He can't feed normally and he cant hurt people anymore. It would kinda be cruel to just kill him when he's so helpless." she frowns, glancing around, "Soo where'd you park your van anyway? It'd probably get us there faster. This area creeps me out.."

Daniel Osborn has posed:
Oz shakes his head when Buffy tries to get him to say what he's thinking, but there's still a flicker of a smirk there. He's hard to read, he knows he's hard to read, and he's glad he's hard to read. "I just didn't want to kill anymore people," he says. Yeah, he could go with some pot right now, though a campfire near a sidewalk doesn't seem like the smartest idea... "I don't remember where i parked it, though, I don't think it's far. Not in this neighborhood, though."

Buffy Summers has posed:
Buffy Summers nods and grimaces, "Yeaah, you don't wanna stick around long in this neighborhood. Maybe recover it tomorrow. Just hope you don't get ticketed or something." she peers around, noticing some cops apprehending some drug dealers down the next alley. "Okaay, just one more block to go and we're there..I suppose I just needed to go for a walk and I lost track of time. Oh yeah, and patrolling covers a large area. Hope you're not too tired. Or hungry. I'm sure we've got food at the apartment though."

Daniel Osborn has posed:
"I'm alright," Oz says. He places a hand at his hip, where his dagger is well hidden...just in case. "I'll find it during the day. It'll be better that way." He offers a smile, deciding to just keep walking as well. Fortunately, he's not that hungry right now, thanks to a good dinner and ice cream, but he is gettinga bit tired.

Buffy Summers has posed:
After about five minutes of walking in wary silence (There's crime happening everywhere, although no more vamps at least for tonight - at least none that crossed Buffy's path), they finally make it to the apartment complex. Buff pauses a moment, fumbling for her keys and unlocks the door, stepping aside for Oz. "After you." she peers around, making sure there are no creepy crawlies following them. "Heh, you sure are taking things pretty cool. I mean this is the worst part of town in an already creepy town but you're taking it all in stride. How do you do that anyway? Maybe you can teach me some of your meditation techniques. I mean. I never had much patience for focus beyond a certain point.."

Daniel Osborn has posed:
Oz has always been that way, even before he learned to meditate, he's always been a really calm guy. "years of practice," he says simply, stepping into the apartment complex withotu saying anything more. After all, meditation is really hard to do, and takes time to practice and learn to do properly. But even without it, he can remain calm in some crazy situations and has done so before.

Buffy Summers has posed:
Buffy Summers nods. "Yeah...Practice.." she sighs. She hasn't had much training from Giles or even seen him much after graduation. "Y'know, maybe we should meditate together sometime, I've been out of practice and I could really use the focus. I guess Giles has been busy with his new bookstore and I haven't seen much of him. Plus, there are all these other new threats to worry about. I had to battle giant robots..Err..Cyborgs, the other day. They didn't die as easily as Vamps. It was crazy. I really need to up my game and I think meditation will help. I mean, if it helped you control your wolf shifting, I imagine it could do wonders for my overactive mind too." she leads him to the elevator and up to the twelfth floor. "Well, be glad we dont live on the thirteenth floor. That would be too ironic.." When the door opens, she leads him down a long corridor to a room near the end. Fortunately this neighborhood is considerably more upscale than the one they just left. "Alright, here we are!" she fumbles with the key again, unlocking the door and peering inside. "Hmmm...Doesn't look like she's home yet.."
