Synopsis: Stephanie brings yogurt, and Barbara brings criminology knowledge as Steph continues her education
Cast of Characters: Spoiler, Oracle

Spoiler has posed:
Stephanie called up Barbara before coming by. She mentioned picking up some frozen yogurt that might be welcome on the hot day they were having, and wondering if Barbara would explain some things from a criminology book she was studying from that she was struggling with on how to collect and make use of different types of evidence.

Stephanie arrives at the door, sweating a bit after riding over on her motorcycle, with a jacket on in case she spilled, and her helmet. That makes for a hot time on the already warm summer day. "I've got raspberry and lemon," she says of the frozen yogurt, holding up two containers. "And they haven't even melted yet. Thanks to breaking a few speeding ordinances to get here fast," she says with a grin.

Oracle has posed:
Barbara's computerized A.I. is the one that ushers Stephanie into the apartment spire at the top of the tower, Babs is up at the computer loft area seated in her chair. She's in a relxation mode tonight, one of her computer monitors is even displaying the ancient game known as World of Warcraft. She has her characater logged in and her A.I. is playing it for her while she takes a break from it now that a living person is actually here.

"You're a doll." Barbara says to Steph, taking the raspberry yogurt cup and the plastic spoon it came with. "Have a seat." She motions to the other expensive looking desk chair with the black leather cushions and high backed seat.

"So whats going on again?" Babs asked as she opened her yogurt gift up.

Spoiler has posed:
Stephanie Brown settles into the chair, pulling out the book from her bag. It's a classic book on criminology. Gathering evidence, observational skills and how to infer the course of events at a crime scene. Probably recommended by Bruce at some point. "Well, I'm not sure I get why some of the evidence collection uses the procedures it does," she says, flipping the book open to the page. "I know we're not police so we're a little less worried about the chain of custody and all that. But still, what do you miss out on if you don't do these steps..." Stephanie says, and she'll go through a bunch of examples, and get Barbara's feedback on them.

Stephanie pops open the lemon frozen yogurt while they talk. "Mmm, this does hit the spot. Dick is experimenting with some of Fries's gas. Trying to make it into some useful equipment. I should have asked him to make a little portal fan that can spray a tiny amount," she says with a chuckle. "So what all happened with you and the police cars that day, anyway?" she asks.

Oracle has posed:
Barbara runs her eyes over the criminal materials that the young Stephanie brought her and she has to take a moment to read it over and familiarize herself with it all before she'd explain anything. But once she does she pauses there-after and looks to Stephanie. "Idealy we want to do our jobs in a way that benefits the Police. Our goal is to make Gotham a better place, for its citizens and its good Cops. We are technically outside of the law, and the worse we make the lives of the Police then the less likely it is that they're going to want us around, doing what it is we're doing. Thats a game we have to play wisely."

She takes a moment to enjoy some of her yogurt then before she glances down at the container whilst hearing the question. "Victor sprang a trap for us. He had all of our vehicles iced over. He also iced over the parking tunnel into the PD facility in that part of the city, so there was no way for Backup to get out and get to us."

She spoons around inside the container. "I had to use the jet on the car to heat the ice up until it broke, then some of the capsules I had on me to free up the Squad Cars. I don't think Fries expected me to be where I was at all. I think he thought we'd all respond to the initial outbreak." Barbara had been visiting her father though.

Spoiler has posed:
Stephanie draws her legs up in her chair after slipping her shoes off. Sitting cross-legged and paying close attention to what Barbara is explaining. She asks a few more technical questions about it, before they lapse back into talking about the recent fight.

"Dick wanted me to free the guards, but I couldn't come up with anything besides just beating on the ice with my staff. I figured that would probably take all day. So I went below ground, figuring, well, first they might be robbing the trucks from below since there wasn't any other sign of why they were doing it. But I figured, even if not, the hydrants spraying the freeze spray had to be fed from beneath. So I could shut them down and that would help the guards more," Stephanie says.

She takes a bite of her lemon frozen yogurt and says, "Damian was perturbed I left and down below though. Or, perturbed that both Dick and I did. He heard the gunshots and dropped in after me," she says. Her expression reveals a bit of something, something about that that mattered to her, though it may or may not be clear to Barbara what exactly.

Oracle has posed:
Barbara listens while scooping at her yogurt cup here and there, little half-spoons of it. "So long as you don't eat the chenicals that he uses, and so long as you don't freeze to death or suffocate... getting one out of his ice is fairly simple. Its all just Chemistry. Chemistry that Batman handled ages ago. He's not as active as he used to be, Victor Fries that is. Seeing him show up the other night was a shocker to say the least!"

She then glances up and over to Stephanie, she shows her a little smile then. "You all did great. Honestly. I was worried it was gonna go really bad, but you... and the others? You all kick his ass. Everything he setup could've gone -way- way worse than it did. You should all be proud of yourself. Celebrate those kind of victories. They're the ones that make the Police realize that we really are here, helping, and not just getting in their way."

Spoiler has posed:
Stephanie Brown gives a little grin at the comment on the police. "Yes, nice to have them see us as being on their side," she says. "I'm never quite sure if they are going to try to arrest me or not. I mean when I'm with you guys, you are kind of known and so they tend to give you some leeway. But, half of them don't even recognize me. And I'm not sure it helps, those that do," the blond says, laughing in a good natured way, if a self-deprecating one.

She shrugs and gets another bite of lemon frozen yogurt. "Thank you for the body armor, again. I managed to not get shot by the guards underground who opened fire. But, it still made me very conscious of how much better I feel having it on," she tells Barbara.

Oracle has posed:
"Its entirely possible that you will get arrested." Barbara warns Stephanie with a soft smile shown to her as she stares at the younger girl for a moment, assessing her a bit before she looks back down to her frozen treat. "If you are, remember not to fight it. Just accept it and make sure that one of us are your 'Phone Call' once you're inside." She looks up again and shows a grin to the younger woman. "But don't sweat it. Once you're a known element, they'll all be well aware of who's side you're on. Your little show on that podcast put your name out there quite a lot too." Yeah, Barbara watched it.

Babs looks away now up to one of her monitors which is showing her Batmobile on a live came somewhere in the basement below the clocktower, its being worked on by automated repair arms, robot arms, that are fixing the vehicle up after that night last week. She'd had to order some new parts and they'd only just arrived...

"Glad the armor is helping you out. Next we gotta get you used to some of the toys. You need to be able to glide and grapple. It'll save your life, and likely keep you away from any cops who might not know you either." Babs looks back down to her Yogurt then. "By the way. I gave your name to one of our members. Batwoman. Told her to find you and give you her perspective on this..." Babs looks over to Stephanie then and lightly grins. "She's the hardcore 'cool girl' of us all. So be ready for that."

Spoiler has posed:
Stephanie Brown is nodding along at first, but lets out a groan at the mention of the podcast. "Oh gawd, I was hoping everyone forgot about that," Stephanie says, sighing. Of course, Bruce hasn't forgot. And won't. "All I managed to do was make Harley Quinn look good. And made Batman look bad. I shouldn't have been there. But, I had no answers with how it went. I was so furious it was all I could do to not do something that would be even more embarrassing," Stephanie says with another sigh.

"Batwoman?" she repeats. "Right... hey, I thought /I/ was the hardcore cool girl?" Stephanie complains, putting her angst about the interview behind her. "I'll be glad to meet her though, sure. And... yeah, I admit it would be nice to not have to throw my grappling hook by hand. Though I've gotten rather good with it, if I do say so myself."

Oracle has posed:
"It was an Internet Show hosted by a bleeding heart who was there only to make the insane criminal look good and oppressed by the terrible justice system thats trying to save lives. So yeah, it was a mistake. But we make mistakes. I did an interview for a website once, they left out ninety percent of my responses and only used the stuff that they thought would make us look overly aggressive and cruel to those we're bringing to justice. It happens. We learn."

A grin is shown then at the cool girl part. "Oh, right, of course. But still... well, you'll see when you meet her. I fully expect you to come back there-after and say to me 'Oh yeah, Barbara. I get it now.'." She glances back to Stephanie and shows another light grin before she looks back to her computers.

"You've nothing to be ashamed of about your skills. They're what have gotten you into this crew to begin with. We just... want to make sure that you're utilizing the best gear possible. All the years that this sort've work has been going on in Gotham, Batman's legacy, has to be learned from and his experience passed on. So on and so forth. Yadda yaddaa, blah blah, boring Babs talk."

She glances over to her WoW character and sighs at her. "You're picking up all the garbage tier loot. Stop it. You're filling up the inventory bags and having to go back to town way too much to sell." The A.I. chimes up then and apologizes to Babs.

Spoiler has posed:
Hearing Barbara's experience helps a little bit. But Stephanie's smile isn't back quite yet. "I kind of thought she'd be different. Always liked April's podcasts," Stephanie says. "And Harley is out on the streets again, apparently. I swear they must have a swinging door in Arkham they never lock. Maybe Bruce should branch off into custodial facilities?" Stephanie chimes in.

She smiles a bit at the mention of her skill. "Thanks Barbara. You know, I always feel better after talking to you. And you still tell it to me straight, it isn't like you sugar coat it. But you help me to not focus on the negatives too much."

The computer gets a chuckle and a shake of her head. "I have no idea how you do that. I mean, I can fix my mom's laptop when it breaks. Or she gets a virus because she opens the emails I tell her not to. But, you and Bruce and everyone are just... next level crazy. You're like Neo or something."

Oracle has posed:
Getting near to the bottom of her yogurt cup, Barbara grins at the first part. "You just answered yourself when it comes to why that reporter wasn't hard on Harley. Because if she had been, she'd probably be a melted puddle of acidic goo now." She sets the mostly empty yogurt cup down on the desk. "Arkham does fine with the majority of its patients but there are a select few who slip out of it like jello on ice."

"Thats what I'm here for. I'm a better talker than Bruce." She glances back to Stephanie to smile quickly to her before she looks back to the computers when they're brought up.

"Neo's got nothing on me. He died at the end. I'm not gonna." Precisely what she means about that is hard to tell, but if one were to dig deep enough into her systems they might find a 'Live Forever' program that deals in A.I.! She might have very lofty goals though.
