Synopsis: Mera and Aquaman talk about premonitions of trouble and truly binding the people of Xebel and Atlantis together.
Cast of Characters: Aquaman, Aquawoman

Aquaman has posed:
Arthur sits in his private rooms at the Poseidonis embassy on the water in Oyster Bay. The structure starts above water and continues many stories beneath it. The underwater levels are dual ringed. The outer ring of cleansed ocean water is a habitat and refuge for marine life of all kinds in the area. As as an added bonus, they provide a pristine backdrop for rooms with a view on the underwater levels, hiding the disgusting state of the waters off New York.

Arthur is leaning back on a white couch, dressed down in a simple pair of pants of fairly classic Atlantean cut and not much else. The projector on the low coffee table in front of him is on and shows specially prepared news summaries created for him by some of his advisors to help keep on top of happenings below and above the surface. He makes a face after a while and waves at the projector. The view shifts to information about the next day's schedule. With a quiet command, music starts as well. Soft, slow and haunting. The slight current in the room plays with his dark hair while he reads.

Aquawoman has posed:
As much as Mera supports Arthur's repose and research on current events, she had waited quietly for him to view the news summaries before entering. As the music wafts in, therefore, so does she. Drifting steadily, she enters the room, quiet and dreamlike. Her blaze of long hair billows behind and about her as she pauses before him, not blocking his view in the least.

"Arthur, is all well?" she asks softly as he peruses the schedule. "You've been quiet this evening. But I know there's a good deal on your mind." A green scaled skinsuit adorns her body, with a gradient of colour that ripples from one shade to the next in a steady flow.

Aquaman has posed:
Arthur looks over. There are very few people who could come into a room with him unannounced and only one he would be happy to see right now.

"Something's bugging me," Arthur replies, ever using the surface colloquialisms he was raised with when not in a formal setting. His Atlantean was excellent now, of course, but when he was less guarded he sounded like a surface dweller speaking the language. "But I can't put my finger on it. I'm missing something important."

He reaches to Mera to pull her down to join him on the couch if she will.

"I've been neglecting you," he acknowledges. "I just can't shake the feeling of a storm coming."

Aquawoman has posed:
Mera joins Arthur on the couch, leaning against him gently and entwining her fingers with his. "You have had premonitions? Or is it just a feeling of dread?" she asks, seeking Arthur's gaze with her own. "Is there something that we should be seeking out? Anything that I can do to help you, Arthur?"

Aquaman has posed:
"Not dread or premonition... Just shadows in the back of the mind," he says and settles in comfortably with the beautiful and powerful princess. "Or I'm getting paranoid. Which I keep getting told is a survival skill."

"Just keep your eyes open," he says entirely unnecessarily.

Some cod flit past the window and through waving fronds of seaweed. The light from the room glitters and flashes off their scales. Arthur looks down at their hands held together and all that symbolizes.

"What is the latest from Xebel? The announcement was never a surprise, but... The betrothal is public now. Will it work?" he asks Mera.

Aquawoman has posed:
Mera, too, is gazing at the hands of the two, clasped in alliance and affection. "There are whisperings among the people of Xebel, that I may have been maligned, my mind altered." She breathes a laugh and lifts her gaze to Arthur's face. "They simply have not seen what I have. Not yet, but they will, in time. And time will show them the truth: that they can be stronger when our people are united than they ever could have been on their own."

At that, Mera pauses, her gaze fixed on Arthur's face. "This is as true of me as it is of my people."

Aquaman has posed:
Arthur barks a laugh, highly amused. "Maligned?! Do they know you? I'd like to meet the man who thinks he could alter your mind," Arthur chortles.

"It's the truth," he says, meeting her gaze. "We will make them all stronger, as they should be. And will make each stronger. It's poetic. But not ironic. Don't you think?"

Aquawoman has posed:
Mera smiles. "And this from a man whom anyone could ever question in his right or ability to lead the Atlanteans. One who even questioned himself in that regard, now speaks of the poetry of such a union of hearts, of minds, and of people. It /is/ poesy, however. The truth in a drop of water or a grain of sand. A union that will join them as it joins us." She lifts his hand to her lips and kisses it affectionately. "And there is no other so befitting of the cause, the station, or the duty."

Aquaman has posed:
"So it took me a bit to come around to it," Arthur says with a grin. "But if you can convince me, you can convince them."

Arthur looks over his betrothed's face, into those eyes, and shakes his head. "I'll need to convince them that you haven't maligned /my/ mind. Or maybe you'll bewitch all of us and it won't matter."

Arthur glances at the schedule displayed over the table. "None of that looks very important. We should forget about all of it tomorrow. Forget the reports, and the petitions and the wedding planning that will never, ever end... Just go out there," Arthur waves up toward the surface. "And just be us. The kingdom gets its king and princess every day, we deserve a day, too."
