Synopsis: Piper and Nadia chat about the environment, money making schemes and food culture until something goes very wrong at P3 and Piper has to dash off to fix it.
Cast of Characters: Wasp (Pym), Piper Halliwell

Wasp (Pym) has posed:
Despite having been in America for several months now the novelty of how vast everything is has yet to fully wear off. Life in a Siberian bunker does not really prepare someone for the skyline of the tri-state area. But thankfully with the right rail passes a teenager like Nadia can travel remarkably far on a budget.

Ideal for gawking at skyscrapers like a tourist. Or, in the case of todays trip, looking out at the ocean from a little portion of the Harbor devoted to coin operated telescopes, benches and a few enterprising vendors selling icecreams and other Summertime treats.

Nadia's dressed for the season, with a simple light blue summer dress and sensible shoes. Along with a brown messenger bag from which she pulls a bottle of water as she shamelessly stares out at the water.

Piper Halliwell has posed:
Piper isn't a teenager, but she's certainly got erself the ability to travel, like Nadia. She's left P3 in the hands of the ones she's hired, and is on a day's vacation with the aim to, well, enjoy herself. Looking around, Piper's clad in a summer dress, though it's not that tight really. Dark green, though the sneakers ruin the image Piper's going for.

She's currently buying an ice cream, handing over a $5 bill and thanking the vendor, Piper licks her ice craem.

With ice cream in hand Piper walks casually, slowly over to the binoculars. She stays back several paces, just watching everything as she sits, relaxing there.

Wasp (Pym) has posed:
"Did you know the Atlantic ocean covers an area of about 41,100,000 square miles?" Nadia muses aloud when Piper stands close by watching for a bit. "Which is probably a bigger number than people can really comprehend. Given it's... about a fifth of the planet."

She frowns, seemingly counting on her fingers, then adds "It'd also be a lot nicer to look at if it wasn't for all the trash floating in it... Or the pollution smells."

Piper Halliwell has posed:
"Yes" Piper says with a smile. "It's amazingly big isn't it? Though I agree, but.....it is more beautiful in other parts of the world, the oceans I mean" Piper adds taking a bite of her ice cream, because, sure, why not?

Piper shakes her head at the polution smell and trash comments. "It used to be so much worse though, they have cleaned it up a bit....but....not enough" she says and steps back again, looking for a place to sit. She'd got up to speak and settles back down like it's presentation day at school. If only her presentation at school involved ice cream. Piper though looks relieved. "So...got any more ocean knowledge?" Piper asks, trying to tone down her snark, just a litle. It was a serious question.

Wasp (Pym) has posed:
"Uhm. How much time do you have? There's something like twenty million pounds of gold suspended in sea water," Nadia offers with a shrug. "So that's about thirty eight pounds in a cubic mile of sea water. I'm not sure exactly what the price of gold is right now. But I bet you could get at least a half million dollars that way. If you /really/ wanted to figure out how to get it."

"It's what I was thinking about earlier but the best solutions I could think of involved bioengineered bacteria and that... has complications. People don't really like GM organisms at the best of times. So I'd need to contain them and that means big tanks on the land... Which gets prohibitively expensive."

Piper Halliwell has posed:
Piper raises an eyebrow. "Not enough time for that I'm afraid, but I like the thought, get creative, get cash" Piper nods, though it's an amused motion, Piper's intrigued. "How'd you figure out there's that much gold in the see and how to extract it? I'm impressed" Piper says with a genuine look of shock. "Now that makes gold jewelry seem a litle bit more commn knowing gold's in a fifth of the Erth's surface huh?" she says casually then has an idea and clicks her fingers. "Since it's in water put it all on a boat if you're going to extract it all. It's what I'd do" Piper adds, the practical Halliwell syster showing her practical side aggain.

Wasp (Pym) has posed:
"That's just the ocean in general which is more like seventy percent of the planet," Nadia corrects with a smile. "I know people talk about there being multiple oceans but really it's just like one huge mass of liquid." She takes a sip from the bottle of water from her bag. "I just read a lot of science books. Lately I was thinking about trying some electrical engineering, I got to thinking of ways I could more cheaply obtain the raw materials, then that brought me to the ocean."

"I did consider a boat for a while but... it's the same problem as oil tankers. You might think you're keeping the unsafe stuff away from the water while you're sailing about. But we still have several spills per year. Thousands if you count small volume spills. So one day of bad weather and you've got genetically engineered bacteria in the water and a potentially huge environmental disaster."

Piper Halliwell has posed:
Piper nods and looks impressed. "Science is well.....interesting" Piper admits, "Then again,I'm a chef, that's a little bit of chemistry, some biology and food sciencey stuff" she says with a nod, fixing Nadia with a look.

The look clearly identifies Piper as a chef, and a scientistt, of sorts, albeit her experimetns are given over to paying diners or club goers. Still, Piper smiles, "Yes but the tankers are flouting the rules. I mean look at the ones coming in here, or into New York. They don't comply with all the rules, yet..." she shrugs, trailing off. It's easy to get where her point's going. "So what're you doing out here?" Piper asks, "Well....aside from giving me facts on the ocean that is"

Wasp (Pym) has posed:
Nadia frowns at Pipers assessment of tanker ship safety "All it takes is a really bad storm and even the best ship struggles. They made a movie on that very topic about a million years ago... Titanic I think it was called."

"I think cooking should be more of an art than a science. The places where they do food as a science all serve weird things. Like gels or foams. But there isn't any real substance to them. I bet everyone who visits gets a burger on the way home to fill up." She gestures around her with the water bottle. Thankfully with the lid screwed on tight. "I'm just enjoying the view really. The sound of the waves is good for background noise. Helps me think. And a change of scenary does wonders for creativity."

Piper Halliwell has posed:
Piper shrugs. "Didn't it set a bunch of records? I remember reading about it once in college. It's apparently goodd" she concedes. "Ah I used to work in a restraunt. Thankfully, thank the Gods, I got out before the fancy eating bug really took off. I just run my own nightclub now and ake drinks an artform" Piper says with a nod. "Cooking's my thing though. Catering's an art form in itself, huh. Catering's absolutely an art form, from preparing, to delivery. It's just....relaxing in a way you know?" she asks

"The food science places" Piper adds licking the ice cream, that is definitely not food science, unless being yummy is a sciency fact......"The places that do food science also serve food that would't fit on a toothpick" Piper syas turning the icde cream in her hands to get at the other side of it. She's determined, determined to enjoy this ice cream.

Wasp (Pym) has posed:
Nadia Pym shakes her head emphatically to indicate that no she does not know. "I've never cooked anything before and I don't really eat out much. Not anywhere fancy anyway.. Although I have... a mentor I guess and she eats out at fancy places."

She unscrews the cap on the water bottle and has another sip. "As for the movie I haven't seen it. I'm trying to work my way through the history of cinema from the start to modern day. So I still have decades of 'must watches' to catch up on."

Piper Halliwell has posed:
"Only about 90 years give or take of stuff worth watching" Piper says with a laugh, "And...yeah, It's relaxing though and interesting all at the same time really" she says and laughs sofrly. "See, somebody you know gets to eat out. Must watches by decade, hmm....tough call" Piper says with a sigh as her phone buzzes. "Yeah huh. Yea...wait what? How and.....I don't want to know. You're a college sophomore" Piper groans. "You're way past making model volcanoes....oh you are so dead when I get back. Go on. Get cleaning up" Piper says as she gives an apolagetic smile, "I gotta get running, hired help at my club thought t'd be funny to make a model volcano in the club and....you can picture the rest"

The last bit is said over her shoulder as she's flat out running for the cab
