First Strike
Date of Scene: 19 July 2019
Location: Coffeehouse, Bushwick
Synopsis: Summary needed
Cast of Characters: William Stryker, Dazzler, Shredder

William Stryker has posed:
One World Coffeehouse Bushwick is not especially busy this morning. The lineup is shorter than normal, since most people are between morning coffee and lunch. The staff are laid back, alternative in style and friendly. They wave to regulars and ask about their lives. The place smells of coffee, only the best fair trade ethically sourced and naturally grown, and amazing baked goods made right in the store.

Dazzler has posed:
Alison's on a coffee run. Her staff has been up since 4am, starting to set up for a small impromptu show later in the evening at a protest. The best way she knows to protect them is to join them there. But the guys are running on fumes, so somebody has to get the coffee. Alison walks into the Coffeehouse, and is greeted by an over-friendly teenaged boy at the counter.

"Mmm..I need...eight of the largest cups ya have, of the strongest stuff ya got. Then add a shot of espresso to each, if ya please. Thanks!"

Shredder has posed:
So far, everything looks perfectly natural. Rocko, one of the Family members, is actually on a coffee run for his job at a construction site. The 6'8" mutant is slightly obvious, his knuckles and shoulders having mild spikes protruding from them, but otherwise looks human. He walks in the door, having put in the order ahead of time. Dusty and wearing blue jeans and a wife-beater, it's clear he's on the job right now.

William Stryker has posed:
Two guys and a woman in their early 20's come into the coffeehouse behind Alison and ahead of Rocko. They look like clean cut preppy students, probably athletes. Attractive in a bland way. They talk together about classes until Alison is up at the till.

"Wow, late night?" the teenage barrista asks with a grin. "Can I get a name for the order?" he punches in the order. He looks up at Alison after doing so and then grins. "Oh wait, I know you! Oh man, Reece, it's Dazzler!" he calls to another of the barristas. The who staff looks over and peeks curiously as do a few customers.

The young woman in front of Rocko, her dark hair pinned up in a tight braid, slips past her compatriots up to the till beside Dazzler.

"Oh my god, it's you!" she gushes and pulls out her phone. "I love your music /so much/. Can I take a picture with you? Please???"

The two men she was with move a little. One walks around behind Dazzler to look at the baked goods and the other moves up a bit so he will be beside her if she turns to look at their distraction.

Dazzler has posed:
"Ya got me!" Alison replies, hands uo in mock surrender to the barista. "Just put Dazzler on the cups, it'll give tha boys a hoot, when I get back!"

Alison is dressed down. A tiedye tee bearing the dates of a Grateful Dead tour down the back, jeans, and brown leather lace-up boots. Her hair is clipped into an updo with a silver jaw-clip, but it's escaping everywhere. "Sure!" She pipes with a friendly smile to the girl. "Proof positive right here that I can work mah butt off, sweatin' all mornin', just like anyone else, aye?" She grins and leans in next to the girl, giving the camera a peace sign.

Shredder has posed:
Rocko is also in the fan club. "Oh, what?" he joins the excitement a little late. "That's crazy," he laughs, seeming content with the distraction. "I gotta text the guys this," He starts pulling his phone out, and tapping away on it. "Nobody's gonna believe this!"

William Stryker has posed:
The young woman leans in for the photo and raises her cellphone. Dazzler sees something horribly hateful and victorious in the woman's expression, showing on the cellphone's screen before the picture is snapped. She can also see a young man with brown hair behind them grinning fiercely and stepping back.

The man behind Dazzler reaches into his light jacket for something heavy, and steps back a couple of paces to give room. The one beside Dazzler and in front of Rocko, whips out a knife from somewhere and moves to try and stab Dazzler in the side.

Dazzler has posed:
Those details are all Alison needed for her reflexes to kick in. But only barely. She spins to one side, twisting her body in a lightning quick move to get out of the knife's path. The tip of the knife catches her at the ribs, and slices through flesh, but doesn't manage to penetrate the cartilage beneath. She instantly turns to the man with the knife and raises her left hand while her right arm is curled at her side. A flash of white light like a flash bulb goes off, but a thin green laser crosses both eyes in an attempt to temporarily blind him. She moves, likewise, away from the girl with the phone, and looks to the third man who stepped back.

Shredder has posed:
Rocko was just looking up from the text when he gets a peripheral glance at the knife. As the blade scraps across her, a large hand comes up to rest on her shoulder, and the muscled mutant pulls her somewhat roughly behind himself while thrusting his foot out at the man with the knife. "What the hell!" he shouts, the friendly and nearly giddy demeanor, which might have been comical on someone his size, is suddenly replaced by all the intimidating stance of a bear. His mutation might be a mild one, but he certainly is a big guy in his own right.

William Stryker has posed:
The man by the baked goods counter pulls out a Beretta and tries to get aim on Dazzler. The flash of light and Rocko physically moving Dazzler ruins his shot. The bullet whips through the space Dazzler was in, perilously close to the woman with the phone. Undeterred, he tries to track the celebrity for another shot.

The man with the knife was readying for another strike when the light and laser go off.

"I can't see!" he screams and cover his eyes with his hands. He has no idea Rocko is coming and catches a boot in the back. He flops forward, smacks his head on the counter and crumples.

The woman with the phone has put it away and has a Beretta of her own now in her hand, coming out of her jacket. Her eyes /burn/ with hatred, focused on the giant mutant.

Dazzler has posed:
With a grunt, Alison lifts her right hand alongside her left, around the side of Rocko, and a blast of purplish-white light is aimed for the face of the woman. A laser burst likely capably of burning flesh and eyes, but not consuming the woman, if it makes contact. Y'know, unless she happens to catch fire. She's looking for the first gunman, but he seems to be behind the big spiky guy from her.

Shredder has posed:
Let it never be said that Rocko isn't as heroic as he'd like to pretend. "You cowards," he taunts against the gun. "Scared to fight me square?" He lunges forward, only mildly aware of the woman with the gun as he charges the man. It's not at all unlikely for him to get shot doing this, but he seems far more interested in his aggressive response than a defensive one, reaching out to try to tackle his opponent to the ground.

William Stryker has posed:
Purple-white laser light rakes across the woman's face. The skin around her eyes bubbles instantly. She sinks to her knees screaming with steam and the stench of burning flesh rising from her. There are shouts and screams from the few people in the Coffeehouse as well as they belatedly react to the fight and back away hurriedly.

"Somebody call the cops!" Someone yells.

A short woman with deep crimson skin bounces off the ceiling and lands on the woman who hand the gun. She sinks a clawed hand into the woman's back with a look of fierce glee.

The man with the gun made the mistake of trying to get a bead on Dazzler, not the mutant attacking him. Too late he realizes his mistake when Rocko charges him. The gun goes off between them before the man is driven into the ground by Rocko's massive inertia. The wind goes out of the man and the back of his head smacks wetly into the ground.

Dazzler has posed:
Alison moves to the woman, still screaming, with a lil red chick on her. She places a hand lightly on the red mutant's shoulder, her other arm curled in against her side. "We'll let the police take care of this Dear, no need to take a fall for their ignorance." She grabs for the blinded woman's wrist, trying to wrestle her to the ground, whether or not Lil Red climbs off.

Shredder has posed:
The muted flash of the muzzle burns a hold through Rocko's T-shirt, the bullet landing solidly in his torso. Not somewhere that he'll immediately die, but it's a solid shot as it is.
"No!" He shouts, rolling off his target and grabbing the wound from which the dark blood runs. "No cops! Family business!" he declares to those who haven't already run out of the scene. He winces. "Wow," he comments, "Never been shot before. Hurts a lot more than it looks like in the movies." Humor, a natural response to shock. He gives a wincing chuckle, and glances around to find where he had just dropped his phone. Screen is cracked. He starts to punch in a phone number.
