Alice, Who The **** Is Alice
Date of Scene: 25 July 2019
Location: Club Mjolnir, Hell's Kitchen, New York
Synopsis: Alice needs a drink. Unfortunately, Hela doesn't serve alcohol to minors, but she does lend a listening ear.
Cast of Characters: Hela, Black Alice

Hela has posed:
Club Mjolnir is in one of it's busier nights, one long table apparently taken over by a frat, some other group related to one party or another in some of the rest. There are several couples among the more private Faering boats. In the background, Scandinavian folk music is played, with some Viking themed pieces.

No doubt the proprietess is quite pleased, and Elle is sitting at the bar, not far from the proudly displayed Mjolnir, as she observes her patrons, making sure all needs are met and no troubles surface. All things told, she's been far more successful than many gave her credit when the club first opened. And in Hell's Kitchen of all places...

Black Alice has posed:
There is a slam of magic near the front door, though this time it isn't even remotely the same as last time.

This time it felt like City Magic (tm).

Once more Black Alice wanders in past the doormen whose job is ostensibly to check IDs, and yet, here is the young woman who definitely does not look old enough to be drinking.

She pauses and scans the establishment now, eyes lingering on the frat boys drinking like they are vikings. Her nose wrinkles up a bit.

Hela has posed:
When she spots Black Alice arriving once again in her establishment, Elle turns her full attention towards her. Unlike last time, she doesn't rush towards her, trusting their 'understanding' from last time would at least assure proper decorum. As is right, she remains where she is, though she does motion towards Black Alice with her finger, universal gesture for Alice to approach her.

Black Alice has posed:
After finishing her mild glaring at the frat Alice turns and catches the gesture from Elle. Well. She was wondering if the owner would be here tonight and now Black Alice has her answer.

Not one to spurn the host while happily enjoying general hospitality in this case, despite her general rebellious and snarky nature, Black Alice will walk over to the bar and the owner of the establishment. "Seems hopping."

Hela has posed:
"It is as good a night as one might expect," Elle remains modest in her own assessment, though she does seem pleased. "Clearly, you see beyond the veil, I would imagine you have some capabilities..." she adds without going to specifics. "I assume you never intend to have alcoholic beverages while you're attending my humble club?" Funny that this should be a concern, apparently Wilson Fisk was very good at explaining the sort of things the local law frowns upon.

Black Alice has posed:
Lori's eyebrow archs at that. "Well. I mean I already have the last time I was here." she gestures towards the bartender. "You said I could have anything on the house." she reminds gently.

At that point she looks up at the hammer hanging there then around the club. "But yes I am skilled and told I can be quite annoying to most others with skills, surprised my rep hasn't preceded me."

Hela has posed:
Elle does not seem amused as Lori goes the wiseass route with her reply, a rather steely gaze gets locked on Lori like daggers hurled at a target. "I did not ask for reminders of past decisions made on past factors, I am establishing how things will be if you intend to keep coming here." The words, this time, are not spoken softly. She is growing a bit irritated.

"Care to introduce yourself...? Or is that something you cannot do in public?" The way Elle phrased the question, she appears to have several such experiences where privacy was required.

Black Alice has posed:
Black Alice holds a hand up palm out. "apologies." when Elle seems to get irritated and less soft spoke. "I will abide your withdrawing drinking rights. I am not sure why you are concerned but I won't press my luck with it."

At the asking for an introduction she looks around then back to Hela. "Black Alice." which is definitely a name scowled at in most practioner circles.

The Magic Thief.

"Currently I am the student of Doctor Strange I guess." more like parolee but still.

Hela has posed:
Elle looks even more vexed as Black Alice spins her own interpertation of her words, "age," she taps Alice on the shoulder, "so long as you look as you do, I cannot have you served alcoholic beverages. You are still welcome to partake in anything from water, to juice, to this...soda that we have here."

Elle does look quite fascinated at the prestige, and surprisingly, not at all dismayed at the reputation the name carries. Perhaps she's not aware of it? Or otherwise not scared? Regardless, she leans back and motions for Alice to have a sit by her side, should she wish to. "Elle Quinn. Always a pleasure to meet a student of such a prestigious instructor. He is a reigning Sorcerer Supreme, is he not?"

Black Alice has posed:
Alice looks down when she is tapped, she wasn't expecting that really. Still she sees a loophole she could drive a truck through. "Age. Got it. I won't even break the letter and will stick with the spirit." it is her way of being reassuring.

"I'm not sure he feels the same way honestly." she settles on the seat indicated at Elle's side. "He is indeed the reigning Sorcerer Supreme. Busy guy. Has very strong thoughts how magic should work, much like the Lords of Order."

Hela has posed:
Perhaps that was the intention all along, the assumption that Alice can conjure an illusion one way or another, it's just that demanding a masking would be a bit out of line in a normal day to day conversation. At least here, on the main floor.

"All Lords have their thoughts, all Lords have their will, the question is which among them has the strongest pull..." Elle muses, apparently no foreigner to lofty enclaves. "What is it that he feels, if you don't mind sharing?" Elle asks, her gaze wandering once again over the club, ensuring all is well.

Black Alice has posed:
Black Alice taps the bar and leans to peer at the bartender "Your finest overly caffienated beverage barhop." then she leans back and looks to Elle.

"Well. Primarily he feels that all magic has a cost and it is patently not right to do magic without a cost." there is a bit of a shrug. "I get that a lot really. I mean he is wrong or rather sometimes other people pay the costs... but don't tell him I said that."

Hela has posed:
"He is not wrong," Elle sounds surprisingly adamant, "and it relates to more than magic. Everything has a cost. Every action, a consequence and reaction." She smirks at Alice's mannerism, "you clearly fancy yourself formidable, be careful not to find yourself one day waltzing on the affair of the gods," it sounds like some idiom of some sort that Elle just recited, an amused look on her visage.

Black Alice has posed:
"I'm not immortal or invulnerable. I know I have limits and I know better than to piss you off." she snags the soda when it arrives and sniffs then sips. "I suppose if you label costs like that as consequences in a more general sense, then yes even my magic has a cost. It mostly has to do with people disliking me though."

Hela has posed:
"Knowing what one is makes a solid step above most others," Elle remarks quietly, her esteem of Black Alice remains in tact it seems, despite being vexed earlier in their meeting. When Alice notes how she knows better than to piss Elle off, the proprietess looks a bit surprised, arching a brow as she turns to study Alice's visage, "you see more than most then. Indeed, through the veil?" She wonders, asking indirectly. "If you see clearly, I'll ask you keep it what you see to yourself, and I appreciate your decision to break bread and share drink. When a guest rite is extended, it is most unbecoming to refuse it."

Black Alice has posed:
"I haven't tried to pierce your veil, the last time I was here I gave a tug and thought about taking your magic for a time. It is too much to swallow... which tells me a whole hell of a lot. So yeah nothing but respect given unto you." she lifts her soda to you.

"I won't violate your guest rites and I'll keep it to myself."

Hela has posed:
"That would have been a mistake...," Elle notes calmly, even when faced with such a daunting description of what was being contemplated. To take it with such level of calm, no doubt Black Alice was wise not to test it further. "So you've no clear indication, but an assessment of prowess...well...as you may have known, if you tried to deal with the Black Sleep, it takes a lot to fend that kind of otherworldly magic. There's a reason so few were able to do anything at all. But there's a benefit to it all, it got me recognition and this club, where I can meet interesting people such as yourself."

"We'll see what the future brings, perhaps there'll be more to this relationship, perhaps not," Elle muses, "so tell me about yourself, what is it that guides you, your aspiration if there is such a thing."

Black Alice has posed:
Alice muses "As you say so, felt more like the First Fallen the time I gave him a tug." she murmurs and then sips her drink.

"Motivates and guides me. For the longest time it was surviving and living. Learning what I can do. Honestly mostly it is still that. I admit it is nice not being totally shunned thanks to Dr. Strange." .. Black Alice is a Black Sheep, just not the dangerous magical plague variety. Well not the plague variety.

Hela has posed:
"The First Fallen?" Elle chuckles, "you travel in great circles, Alice, and yet you live. Clearly, there's more to you than just power, there's some sense. Hidden, no doubt, underneath the snarky attitude of yours." Tilting her head as she observes Alice, Elle quips, "have you any cares for what is right? For honor? Glory? Justice? It doesn't sound like it. What about making sure others are allowed to attain what they've earned?"

Black Alice has posed:
"I travel in wierd circles." not really correcting, just adding on a bit.

"Contrary to popular belief I am a good person. I've served on more than one little superteam seeking truth, justice, and the american way." pause "Sort of. I don't do what I do for fame, I do what I do when motivated to do it because it is the right thing to do."

Hela has posed:
"Great, weird, semantics," Elle scoffs.

When she hears Alice's reply, she just nods to herself, "we'll see," she remarks, and then gets up. "Is there a reason why you returned to my club? Are you seeking something?"

Black Alice has posed:
Alice looks up at Elle when she gets up. "The last visit was interesting." she pauses "You are interesting and a bit of a mystery."

"You have a lot of questions, are you seeking something?"

Hela has posed:
"That it was," Elle agrees, to put it mildly.

She inclines her head, as if to welcome something she perceives a compliment. "We all do, dear Alice, we all do, if you'll excuse me, I have business to attend to." She inclines her head again, "feel free to enjoy the refreshment on the house," she turns to make sure Eric behind the bar got it, before turning to leave to a side corridor.
