Error 37: Sentinel is dead at this time.
Date of Scene: 27 July 2019
Location: Mutant Town
Synopsis: A Sentinel erroneously identified a threat and nearly attacked a civillian. Captain Marvel, Captain Britain, Nightcrawler and Piper Halliwell were on scene to save the day.
Cast of Characters: Captain Marvel (Danvers), Piper Halliwell, Captain Britain, Nightcrawler
Tinyplot: Sentinels

Captain Marvel (Danvers) has posed:
Mutant Town has been one of the key target of Sentinel sweeps, and while Trask, Luthor, the Government and everyone involved had claimed they only take down threats. But on occasions, they do happen to 'malfunction' as the official term was, and go after peaceful mutants.

That is the case today, when a sweeping Sentinel descends on Mutant Town out of the blue and informs the people in the vicinity, "mutant threat detected. Citizens are required to clear the area while the target is neutralized," the Sentinel intones, its eyes flashing red as it lifts up its arm to point at a hot dog stand vendor, who in turns looks quite befuddled, "er...I'm not a mutant?" He tries to reassure the Sentinel.

Piper Halliwell has posed:
Piper Halliwell. Witch. Resident Charmed One and P3 club owner over in Bloodhaven, listens, takes a look and runs for shelter, though she's just as confused. "I....no words" Piper says keeping her sarcasm in check. Getting turned into Swiss cheese is not a great idea, it really cramps her style. She's not a fan of spending a long while n hospital and rehab or gtting a terminal case of bullets, all things considered...

Piper's doing her level best to get out of the way and run for it. Or at least, speed walk, running's just asking for it. Shaking her head Piper's offering a prayer to the God and Goddess. Hopefully they're listening, as Piper's worried, very worried. She's seen Sentinels on the news, but not been face to, well, metal or whatever they're made of. Piper's never cared much to check. Just accepted they're not liable to turn up outside her club.

Captain Britain has posed:
A white, red, and blue being appears in the sky overhead, seemingly undetected by the sentinel. It was a man flying under his own power. Was it telekinesis, levitation, or some kind of invisible propellant, who could say? But he seemed to have perfect control over his trajectory, changing course mid air as easily as someone could change the movement of their arm.

Did he spot the Sentinel, or overhear its commands. Hard to say with the mask he wore, which seemed to cover his ears. Making a radical change in direction, he flew over top of the Sentinel, and landed between it and the hot dog vender. "I may not be a mutant, but if you hum a few bars, I'll see what I can do?"

Nightcrawler has posed:
Ever since the orange attacks at the club - the fight in the street, and the dressing down by Scott, Kurt has been hiding out around Mutant Town, scouting, following, hunting... He's in his kevlar and plates, but the X-insignias have been pulled off and the suit is black save for his gloves and socks.
The sudden arrival of a sentinel draws his attention, and makes him glad he's been bringing his swords with him. "Mein Gott, now what..." scurrying and leaping across rooftops to get a better view of the robotic monstrosity.

Captain Marvel (Danvers) has posed:
"Citizen, remove yourself from the path of the target," the Sentinel intones at Captain Britain as he places himself between the hot dog vendor and the Mutant Extermination Unit (AKA Sentinel). The hot dog vendor for his part looks relieved to have Captain Britain stand between himself and the towering robot. "Thanks man, I swear, I'm not even a mutant...I don't know what that thing wants...are you an Avenger?"

Funny he should make mention of the Avengers, because a streak of light burns through the sky and suddenly, Captain Marvel is hovering behind the Sentinel, looking down at it, "that man is working his job, it's not a crime regardless if he's a mutant or not, desist now." There's no bravado in her words, just a promise that the Sentinel should reconsider.

As Kurt is smartly equipped for being safely outside, the Sentinel pays him no heed, instead it turns to Look up at Marvel, as she's been using an aggressive tone. "Disrupting this unit's task is a punishable offense," the Sentinel intones, now warning Captain Marvel as well. Both its arms are now glowing with a red light as it arms for an offense.

Piper Halliwell has posed:
Piper shakes her head. M-Town is a weird place. She really should have listened to, oh, everyone who said M-Town is strange, but then again, that Sentinel's heere. Oh and somebody who looks like, in her estimation, they are wearing the British flag. Looking over her shoulder Piper spins on a heel. Given somebody's got between that giant robot...thing, and that poor hot dog guy, Piper's relieved. She starts retracing her steps. Shaking her head, Piper glances up at the Sentinel again. She's not getting shot today. Today is her day off from P3, and getting shot by a Sentinel would ruin that. Plus, who would keep her club in line?

Piper is stil when the Sentinel starts issuing commands again, then her sarcasm gets the better of her, though she keeps her thoughts to herself. Mentally calling the Sentinel out, silentln isn't the smartest idea, the look could well come off as mocking or angry though.

Captain Britain has posed:
"Actually, I'm a non-immigrant visa visitor," Captain Britain freely admits to the Sentinel in a loud enough tone for his English voice to carry. In a lower voice, he glances behind him, "better, I'm Captain Britain. Although you may wish to vacate the premises, sir."

Floating up off the ground, and closer towards the Sentinel, Captain Britain did the opposite of what it had requested of him. "I don't know how advanced your A.I. is, or if there is someone remotely controlling you, but in either eventuality, know that you will not succeed. Your only options are to peaceably withdraw, or face destruction."

His voice was loud enough for all to hear, but his tone was not one of arrogance, rather, a statement of fact.

Nightcrawler has posed:
Kurt Wagner coming up short at the sight before him... Captain Marvel, a sentinel and... "Brian??" the words murmured out as he draws his sabers, eyeing the massive robot. "Thought he went up on the shelf." chuckling to himself as he studies, clinging to the roof he is on. Eyes... base of the neck... Mouth? Hard to tell with these new units where to strike...

Captain Marvel (Danvers) has posed:
The Sentinel aims one arm at Captain Marvel, and the other towards Captain Britain. "Resistance encountered, engaging counter measures," the Sentinel informs before firing plasma blasts at both Captain Marvel and Captain Britain. The idea is for them to flee before the attack, it is a counter measure, as the Sentinel intoned, but then maybe that's part of the problems with Sentinels? What if it attacks someone that cannot handle it or escape in time? What if someone just pretends to be a superhero.

Captain Marvel for her part, remains where she is, a faint cosmic glow starts to illuminate her as she's struck by the plasma blast. "I would advise letting the poor guy sell his hotdogs, and just be on your way, also...send my regards to Trask."

Nightcrawler has posed:
The arms... Go for the arms... Of course. Turning from the scene, tossing one saber up for his tail to catch and grip, the other between his teeth, Kurt's body lengthens out into a quadruped run that quickly turns into an all out sprint, leaping in an arc, blades returned to his hands he spins and sails over the edge of the building, falling and disappearing in a cloud of smoke moments before striking asphalt.
BAMF! the sound comes almost simultaneously from both sides, and Kurt's cloud of brimstone smoke pulls after in a rooster tail, blades up, attempting to cut through, or into, the elbow of the sentinel using their razor edges and his own built momentum

Piper Halliwell has posed:
Piper's stood still when the Sentinel fires. She has an idea, though that's sort of desperation mixed with a determination to protect innocents. The hot dog guy is innocent. To that end, Piper's doing her witchy thing. She just needs a good enough rhyme.

"If you hear me, giant robot, with my witchy powers I command you will not shot" she says. It's corny and thought up on the fly, but it's the best Piper can do given how things have gone. Magic vs a Sentinel. If it was anyone else, Piper would be watching to take notes. Instead, she's in the middle of it all, now. Doing magic.

Captain Britain has posed:
The Hot Dog vendor was still behind Captain Britain, and there was so much around that could be hurt by the blast. At this range, and with the heats being emitted, it was a wonder that the sentinel wasn't melting its own components, setting fire to the asphalt, or melting concrete. These were some serious temperatures coming out of it, and it hurt like seeing England crashing out of the World Cup on penalties, but Brian endured it. He had to. He gritted his teeth as he took it, waiting patiently for a gap in the exchange.

Now the Sentinel had a far different beast on its hands. It had an angry Captain Britain. And an angry Captain Britain was a force to be reckoned with. When Nightcrawler went for the arm, and Piper used her magic, the plasma blast let up, giving Brian the opportunity to fly fist first into the arm. "Thanks, now bamf!" he called out to his friend, knowing Kurt wasn't in any trouble despite his efforts to tear up the Sentinel's arm.

Captain Marvel (Danvers) has posed:
The Sentinel, whether it hears Piper or not, doesn't respond, it just keeps blasting both Captain Marvel and Captain Britain, gradually increasing the intensity of the plasma. Clearly, it mistook Captain Marvel's energy reading to mean she's about to explode, so it assumes all that's needed is more intensity to deal with her. As Captain Britain seems likewise only in bearable pain, it increases intensity on the other end as well, meaning to eventually reach such power output that the two heroes will step down.

What the Sentinel doesn't anticipate is Nightcrawler's attack, out of nowhere, and while the sword doesn't seem to be enough to cut clean through the Sentinel's arm. It does cause damage, and in a partial slice, it angles the arm in a way, that the Sentinel is now blasting plasma towards nearby civillians.

Captain Marvel responds by zooming towards the errant beam, absorbing the plasma before it can hit civillians. By now, she's glowing to the point it's quite noticeable even without looking directly at her.

"You nearly murdered civillians," Captain Marvel warns the Sentinel, "last warning, disengage..." but her warning might not be needed, as with the redirected beam, Captain Britain has a free path at the Sentinels, and his powerful impact causes the arm to fully detach, stopping the plasma attack.

The Sentinel appears stunned, before reaching with his other arm to try and grab Captain Britain, while it tries to fire a stun beam from its optics at its biggest threat.

Piper Halliwell has posed:
Piper notes her spell fizzled out and she's a not happy witch. THat's got her anger up. She throws her hand out and her anger takes hold. She throws her hand out, fully intending to freeze the big garbage can but her anger's boiling over as the air around her heats up. She's aiming squarely at the Sentinel, and yet...she had to move her hand past the hot dogs to get aimed at the Sentinel. She's taking care of snacks, cooking hot dogs for the fight Or, torching them, as her anger's focused directly on the Sentinel. The hot dogs are merely grilling away. Piper's not planned that.

Instead, she's seeing what she can do about torching anything on or in the Sentinel. Hopefuly, those in contact are smart enough not to get torched. Heat does transfer. Piper learned that from physics class. College taught her useful things, too. Shaking her head, Piper's glaring daggers at the Sentinel. Her hand's twitching, too. Bad sign.

Nightcrawler has posed:
Kurt teleports again, almost as soon as he had made the cut. Appearing again to rake the blades along the chest of the robot, disappearing to re-appear and hopefully cut along the same lines if he was able.
"Brian! Making an opening!" literally. He's also trying to ease his speed so that he can land on his next port - disappearing into smoke to appear on a taller building a block away, chest heaving as he recovers.

Captain Britain has posed:
Having been doing his utmost to absorb the blasts, when they move off of Captain Britain, his first thought is that the beam had been deactivated. Alas, the beam angled away. Brian made his attack flight, but thankfully Captain Marvel was there to save the civilians he would have inadvertently caused harm to. That will lead to some harsh self-thought once he has time to consider it. He was trying to play the hero, but failed spectacularly in his efforts, needing to be helped by someone else.

At least he did manage to neutralise the beam, and the attached arm, in quick order. Calling attention to Brian's future shame, he overhears Captain Marvel try and shift it to the Sentinel, even though it was really Brian who failed to block it. Working with Kurt, wherever Nightcrawler cuts, Brian bashes, trying to end this as quickly and as efficiently as possible. Captain Britain was a close in fighter, using his body, and especially his fists, to great effect.

Captain Marvel (Danvers) has posed:
The hot dog vendor is long gone, as are most people who were out and about in the street earlier. The Sentinel has too much to deal with with three heroes present, and two actively attacking it. "High level of opposition, requesting backup," it intones, but luckily with Nightcrawler's fast porting and slicing action, creating an opening in its chasis, and Captain Britain going to town, not to forget Piper frying up its circuits, that transmission doesn't take place. Little by little it's systems, go offline, get destroyed, fried, or overloaded. It's jerks in erratic motion, before freezing where it stood.

It would have been enough if it wasn't for Piper's magic charging up its molecules to make the whole damned thing explode.

"EVERYBODY BACK! NOW!" Captain Marvel cries out when she realizes what is happening, and she flies directly at the Sentinel seconds before it explodes to bits. And bits do scattered about, some causing damage to buildings and pavements all around, and a piece of the Sentinel's shoulder destroys the hot dog stand the vendor was working at earlier. What Captain Marvel does manage to do is absorb the explosion itself, likely saving a few buildings in the area, as the entire thing is channeled towards her while she starts to glow as brightly as a star.

Once she's absorbed it all, she just shoots directly up to space, not risking being on Earth with so much charge absorbed. Seems like now would be the perfect time to go see what she could do to aid Starforce in an altogether different sets of stakes.

For what it's worth, the Sentinel was destroyed, nobody died, and the damages are relatively minimal thanks to the work of Nightcrawler, Captain Britain and one Piper Halliwell who did her part from a distance.

Piper Halliwell has posed:
Piper's not sticking around. As soon as the big garbage can on wheels goes bang, Piper's off and sprinting like she's running track in school. She's fleeing. Last thing she wants is for the media to out her as a witch. So she's running away. Some may call it cowardice. Others....tactical retreat. So she's doing her 'get out of town' thing. By the time the hot dog stand's destroyed, she's pretty much booking it. Live to fight another day

Nightcrawler has posed:
Kurt Wagner watches from a distance as it all comes down, noting the woman who was working like Wanda, and then after another port nearer, a small stone is plinked down at Brian, trying to get his attention.
