Cast of Characters: Wonder Girl, Ares

Wonder Girl has posed:
The evening has fallen on Metropolis. All of the city lights have flashed on by now and people are heading home to be with their families and such. Cassie Sandsmark is in town. She is staying at the Themysciran embassy but tonight, she is out getting aclimated to the area. Her feet have carries her to Metropolis park where she is just sitting for a a little, taking in the view.

Her mind wonders, shifting to her family. Her mom is of course the biggest part of her family to her. She actually knew her her whole life. Then her thoughts drift to the other side of her family. Specifically, Her half brother. She snickers. Rather then go traditional, she speaks up a little. "Aries who might be on Olympus? Its your half sister. Would you care to hang out a little bit." Prayer? Why not. Needless to say she doesn't get a response. She gets out her phone and calls him.

Ares has posed:
Though the subject of her hopeful prayer appears, it isn't due to the power of it. For a few hours ago she had actually gotten in touch with him in a more mundane manner. Evern since she had embraced her heritage, she's had contact with Ares. The first time had been tense, with him gauging her, judging her as if she was the newest employee in the family business. But eventually she earned his mild acceptance if not outright approval, though what that would take is anyone's guess.
A gift had been her reward and her welcome to the current mass of familial mayhem. Just a length of golden cord she could use to her own ends. But with it he had given her his cellphone number, something none of the other gods have, and only a very few members of the extended family might be privy to. So when she called, he answered, and when she suggested she would be in Metropolis, he agreed to meet her in that park.
And then there he was, just some distance along the wending path in the park, moving towards her bench seat with a casual stride as he walks. His hands are in the pockets of his jeans, his chest covered by a grey sweatshirt that has probably seen better days. But when he arrives and meets her gaze, a faint smirk is seen for a moment, then suppressed as he strolls right up, matches her eyes... then says, "What is it you wish of me, child?"

Wonder Girl has posed:
Cassie perks up a little as she sees the familiar figure moving toward her. Then there is that no-nonsense attitude. Its a little jarring for the young woman but after a few moments she smiles and sees through it. "Hey Ares. Good to see you. How are things?" She asks curiously.

She slides over offering the man some room to sit. "Its good to see you again. A lots happened since I hung out with you all." She beams a little. "So what have you been up to?"

Ares has posed:
The tall man, a good bit taller than her, takes a seat upon the bench. He looks at her sidelong and offers a half-smile, that's about all she'll get or rather what passes for a greeting. But then he looks away to consider the park, the people walking around, the slow drift of low-hanging clouds above them, blocking what little hint of the stars there might be after the light from the city hides them.
Leaning forwards and resting his forearms on his knees, then interlacing his fingers, he tells her levelly. "It's been passingly well. Busy." His brow furrows, as if he were about to say something, but instead of involving her in his problems he simply offers some insight into the other aspects of his life. "Alexander does well in his schooling. My work proceeds apace." He gives a small shrug, then turns back to her.
"And yourself? Tell me what has happened."

Wonder Girl has posed:
Cassie smiles a little, "Alexander? I don't think I've met them." She snickers a little. "Have you been hanging out on Olympus or, did you find a place to settle down and start wars with the neighbors!" She laughs a little bit.

"OH umm I'm doing well! I just left Themyscira a few days ago. I am still in training technically but, honestly I just needed to get back to the regular world for a while. Don't get me wrong, I love Themyscira. The Amazons are amazing. They definitely don't hold back with the training. I had more then a few bruises. They don't last long but, hey a little sympathy would be nice!" She laughs over that. "Seriously though, I am definitely ready to be a hero I think."

Ares has posed:
"Ah, my son. I told him of you," There's a small wave of his hand to the side, "He is of the age where girls are still annoyances for the most part." His smile twists a little, but then he glances aside at her, "As for the rest of the family, I intend to have nothing to do with them. Two hundred years without their obnoxious behaviour is just a beginning." He scritches at the stubble along the curve of his jaw thoughtfully, "However, I should let you know that Athena has decided to take up residence on Earth. If you wish to meet her I will arrange it."
But then he nods as she elaborates about her training and Themyscira. As she mentions being a hero he shakes his head and looks away. "You do realize there is no rush?" He turns his head slightly to get another look at her, one eyebrow quirking crookedly. "You have hundreds of years yet to live. Take some time to... be what you wish. To enjoy your childhood." Of course, to him, she is still a child.

Wonder Girl has posed:
Cassie smiles a little, "Oh! I can't wait to meet him than! He sounds cute. If you ever need a sitter, let me know." She then relaxes a little, "I hear you there. I've only known this side of our family personally for three years. I haven't been around everyone much but I do know the history behind it and I can agree, Lots of drama, namely because Dad either really likes kids or somehow got his libido from the Titans." She shutters. "Oh yeah? I would love to meet her. Everything I"ve read about her says she's a rather nice person, Well it seems that way. Hard for me to know. But I would love to meet her."

"She nods and listens to what Ares is telling her. She smiles, "Oh I know. Honestly I am still going to continue training. Its fun to learn plus, I've been learning weapons and the like. Strategies and such. There is a lot to combat that I didn't even know existed. I used to think that fighting was pretty much just two sides pointing guns at each other. Who ever had the most people and ammo wins but, I couldn't be more wrong." She smirks a little. "I am thinking I am going to apply to a school. I think I want to study Archeology. Maybe follow in my mom's footsteps?"

Ares has posed:
"A word of advice, Cassandra." Ares looks away, lifting his eyes upwards. "Most of our family are terrible individuals. Most all, really. If I could have told you I would have informed you to not even get to know me, for there are risks involved in such inherently." He pushes a rough hand through his short shaved hair, frowning to himself. "I would not seek the others out, you'll find them in time, no reason to rush the meeting."
But then she speaks of her wishes for the future and he chuckles somewhat. "There are worse career paths to follow." In regards to Archaeology. He eyes her sidelong, "Again, I would advocate patience. You are so very young, little sister of mine. I would have you not make foolish mistakes in your youth."
For a moment those words hang there, but then a small chuckle slips from him as he adds, "Then again, what else is youth for?"

Wonder Girl has posed:
Cassie laughs a little, "So I've gathered. There are several I really don't want to meet. Odds are they won't like me much as Even though I am like you and the rest of the family to a degree, I'm still part human. Besides, I'm pretty sure some of the family would not even call me by name. They'd call me illegitimate offspring of Dad number 26 or whatever the number is up to these days." She makes a little face over the whole thing.

Then its back to the mistakes of childhood and so on. "As much fun as it would be to have the perfect childhood, Its better to make mistakes now when I can make amends easy enough then to not make them now and make them when there is nothing I can do about it. Besides, Mistakes can be fun! As a crazy Cartoon teacher says, "Take chances, Make mistakes, Get messy!"

Ares has posed:
"Well," Ares frowns as he looks distantly across the way, watching the rentable boats attached to the docks in the lake sort of float up and down, swayed by the brush of wind in that green park. He takes a breath and looks to her, "We're in the same boat in that regard. Alexander will never be accepted unless certain situations are resolved. Personally, I do not think he should try to reconcile with the family. But then again I do not want to rob him of the option."
He pauses, then flares a hand to the side, "But that is neither here nor there. We are speaking of you."
There's a moment of pause as he listens to her, "Cassandra, making mistakes amongst others of our kind could lead to a fast end for you, and there would be little anyone could do to redress the situation. Even the Themyscirans."

Wonder Girl has posed:
Cassie nods slowly. She thinks a little. "You're right. Your son should have the chance to make the choice himself. But as much as I hate the fact that it was hidden from me for so long, waiting til he is mature enough to understand the choice is the best thing to do. Before he's ready he will see this great big family as a chance for more Birthday or Christmas gifts! It would be for the best for him to..." She goes quiet for a moment. "You know if you want him to learn about who he is without telling him directly, the best way to do this is to talk to my mom. See about him going on finds and digs in Greece. My mom knows her stuff and she always made sure I was safe. It would be worth it I think but, that is your choice to make. You and his mother."

She nods slowly, "That is why I am staying at the Themysciran Embassy and why I am going to do my best to keep collateral damage at a minimum! I am also going to see about teaming up with some other people. Others with powers so I can learn how to work with others a little better. A lot of what I've learned so far has been one on one. I just wanna get better ya know?"

Ares has posed:
"His mother has passed," He says that short, quickly. A very abrupt explanation and a book closed to further inquiries. He simply sits there with his fingers interlaced and his eyes distance. "But I'll tell him of what you speak. Perhaps he will find it interesting." There's a short grumble from him as he shakes his head, "Though right now his primary interest seems to be in playstations and x-boxes."
Well," He pushes himself to his feet slowly, standing and turning to face her. "Self improvement is always a noble goal. You may come visit at some point in the future. It would be good for Alexander to have another sparring partner, and it may help you to study other styles you might not be used to."
There's a pause as he looks down at her and then furrows his brow. "Is there aught else you would speak on, Cassandra?"

Wonder Girl has posed:
Cassie winces. "I am sorry. That is awful. I will come by, of course! I would love to hang out with my nephew a little bit. Maybe I can inspire him to see why I loved going on finds with my mom. It was like playing video games but in real life! Without shooting zombies or whatever those games have in them."

She blinks a few times "I'm guessing he's like us?" She questions, thinking he may have deity powers like herself. "As for Self improvement, I enjoy learning. Its a challenge, you know? Plus if I keep myself busy, I have reason not to go visit the family!"

"Thats all I just wanted to see how you were doing. Oh if you are interested, That length of rope you gave me?" She pulls out the lasso. "I learned a few things to do with it. As long as I keep myself from being angry, people are pretty safe. If I get angry, Well they find out why they shouldn't make me angry." She shutters at the thought of frying someone with it. She begins swinging the rope over head, forming it in a ring. She rings a rock on the ground and pulls the whole thing to her. "Fun!"

Ares has posed:
There's a shake of his head, "He has not displayed any abilities beyond the ken of mortalkind." Ares rubs at the bridge of his nose for a moment thoughtfully, looking to the side and then back to her. "It may come in time, or there may be nothing more for him. He is skilled, however, and most likely his swordplay will be a challenge to you." There's a pause, then he adds. "Perhaps."
A small heh slips from him as she delivers the news about the rope, then he gives a nod. "Then be safe when you use it, if it has bonded to you then you are charged with the responsibility of it."
That having been said he turns and starts walking down the sidewalk, a small wave is given to her over his shoulder. "Until next time, Cassandra."
