Synopsis: Kinsey comes to the Watchtower to deliver news - the odd, the interesting, and the troubling - and a plate of cookies! Macadamia nut, of course, for Batman. Information is exchanged.
Cast of Characters: Superman, Kinsey MacKenna

Superman has posed:
It was quiet 22, 300 miles above the Earth, in orbit around the blue-green planet known as Earth. The Watchtower was quiet. As Batman would say, too quiet. The only one on the satellite at this time was the Man of Steel. Although most power sources were powered down to conserve energy, the Mission Monitor Room wasn't quiet. A tall, dark-haired man, red cape swirling, was pacing back and forth across the room at /almost/ super speed.

Superman was frowning. Looking at the screen for a moment, he continues to pace back and forth as though there was something on his mind. Mumbling to himself, he notes that his scheduled time for ending his duty wasn't for another hour. A long wait.

Kinsey MacKenna has posed:
Things had been happening at a fast paced click the past few days. Her own personal revelations. Blurr and the Cybertronians. Being asked to oversee the production of Lexhub. Kinsey was starting to see that the ring upon her finger was quite the responsibility. Not that she'd thought it wasn't before! It was now she was seeing the absolute proof of it as Brother Saint Walker had been leaving her to stretch her Lantern wings so to speak and handle matters on her own.

It had been.. a transition.

However, as part of her duties, reporting in was a necessary thing, and given Hal also frequented the Watchtower, and regardless those upon that station would need the information Kinsey had, she's killing two birds with one stone and a plate of cookies, and coming to check in. Personally as it was always nicer face to face, and well, she didn't really want to drop her heritage over an open channel.

The cookies? They were just a nice touch. Macademia nut, as suggested by Batman.

Superman has posed:
Noting the new arrival on the main console, Superman moves out towards where Kinsey had arrived with normal speed...this time. After all, there was no hurry and no emergency. Hal had told him that he should be expecting company from Alpha Flight and even a guest from MacKenzie Station. A new Lantern that he had met once before. This must be her.

Walking up to Kinsey with a smile, and sniffing absently, Superman says, "Welcome aboard the Watchtower! Good to see you again. I gave you a tour last time right? We can chat, or would you like to get down to business? I can offer coffee. Flash brought some in fresh before he finished his duty, and we also have teas, direct from the Orient?"

Kinsey MacKenna has posed:
Kinsey grins as she's greeted, and remembered. She's still working back on her pre-ring days where she wasn't all that notable or memorable a face. "Indeed, it's still me, and look, cookies!" She holds up the plate. "Batman suggested that someone on the station might like them, so maybe a few can be set aside for him. And yes, you did give me most of the tour. He picked up the slack."

She dips her head apologetically, "Sadly, this is a business call, but coffee or tea would be delightful. Now, when you say fresh cofee, are we talking gastropub, or? Though I have to say I'm intrigued by tea direct from the Orient. Hrm..."

A thoughtful look.

"I bow to your preference. And perhaps a tiny bit of a chat as well as business. I did enjoy our last."

Superman has posed:
"Of course you brought cookies! I knew I smelled something great. Reminded me of home." Superman waves her towards the Mission Monitor Room and the coffee/tea. "I will make sure Batman gets a couple. He will be even more grumpy if he hears you brought cookies and we didn't save him any. Especially his favorite. You certainly know your way into his heart."

Moving into the room, the smell of freshly brewed Columbian coffee permeates the area with its aroma. "Well, business it is then. Tell me what you have at your own time."

"Oh, no, the coffee is fresh bean coffee." A pause, as Superman pours himself a mug, and then offers the pot to Kinsey. "I am glad to see you are doing well. Sure. Either or, although I do recommend this coffee." There are several clean mugs for her to choose.

Kinsey MacKenna has posed:
There's a light laugh from Kinsey, "Well, a little bat-caped mouse might have whispered in my ears that macademia nut cookies would go over well on the station. Though I feel I should point out that you all have a kitchen here. And ingredients I'm sure."

Her teasing comes with a smile, and she follows him to the monitor room.

"Oh, be still my heart, that smells delightful. Clearly you have better suppliers than we do, or nobody on MacKenzie knows how to brew coffee." More like it was always pre-packaged, pre-ground stuff in one of those filter pillows. You open the package, plop the pillow into the machine, and press the button. Voila! Coffee. Not nearly as nice as this.

"Oh, the smell sold me on the coffee, so yes, please. And I have been doing rather well. No real surprises there. Though terribly busy. And yourself? Last we met you were looking a tad more worn out than this? I do hope that whatever was troubling you has resolved?"

She uncovers the plate of cookie and puts them in the middle of the table the two will share to have their discussion before choosing a mug from the collection: a large, fat mug that declares 'You'll like me better after this'.

Superman has posed:
"I am sure we do." Superman laughs lightly and adds, "I would have no idea what to do though. My Mom used to do all the baking. I never developed the talent at all. I usually eat out all the time, which can get a bit expensive. I am glad I have the metabolism for it." A sheepish grin follows his laugh.r
"May I?" Superman says, offering to take one of the cookies. "Oh yes. The coffee is top notch. Wonder Woman would have it no other way actually. She's a stickler for it. As well as Batman actually now that I think of it. Probably how he stays up all night."

Taking one of the cookies and taking a bite, Superman nods and says, "Very good. Thank you." A nod, and he adds, "I have been okay. Still recovering from my last mission. PLus I have this aweful sense of forboding...like I have forgotten something. Huh. I expect it will come to me. So what were you wanting to talk to the JL about?"

Kinsey MacKenna has posed:
"Clearly I need to be crankier so they provide me with better coffee." Not that anyone can actually imagine Kinsey as cranky. She nods he should help himself to the cookies, and carefully takes three and wraps them in the cellophane that had covered the plate of them, setting them aside with a pat. "These are for Batman."

"Forboding, hrm?" That causes a small, worried crease in Kinsey's brow. "You'll have to tell me more. I might be able to help. As for why I've come, I'd love to say it was only for a chat. It's been nice visiting, however, business."

She drinks her coffee black, so there is no doctoring to be had, and sits with her hands wrapped around the mug. "Do you want the odd news, the interesting news, or the troubling news first?"

Superman has posed:
Superman smiles. "Cranky can get results. Just ask Batman." Taking a sip of his coffee right after a bite of the cooke brought another smile. Looking at the cookies set aside, Superman opens a cupboard, pulls out a plastic container, and puts the cookies wrapped in cellophane inside. "For Batman."

Grabbing his mug of coffee again, Superman nods. "I'll tell you more as soon as I know more. Let me get back to you. I may need your help." Superman takes a sip of the coffee and changes the subject as though uncomfortable discussing the other topic.

"Lets go in order. Odd, interesting then troubling. The coffee will have hit by the troubling news." Finishing off the cookie, Superman's smile turns into a frown.

Kinsey MacKenna has posed:
"So can patiently expecting results and accepting no less," Kinsey returns. "You should see my I'm disappointed in you face."

Of all the things she was, Kinsey was not a pushover.

"My help is always offered. I believe that promise came with the ring, but you'd have had it regardless. And so, odd. Mostly odd to me, but as it happens, I've reason to believe I'm not human. In fact, short of confirming it, it's rather a foregone conclusion. I'm afraid I've rather been putting off that portion of the matter, though Kibou has assured me in his annoyingly cheerful way that he would be more than happy to confirm the matter for me."

She sips her coffee, elbows on the table, cup nestled close to her face as she ponders how to deliver the rest before opting for the most direct. "It would seem that I'm Kree."

Superman has posed:
"I see. That isn't so bad. Being Kree is something that many friends of mine are. They can be a good people. After all, I'm not from Earth originally either, so there is that. We have become adopted by our new world, and we make the best of it." Superman's warm smile lets her know that he wasn't judging. At all.

Taking a sip of his coffee, Superman says, "I wouldn't worry too much about it unless the people you work with over in Alpha Flight are worried. I wouldn't think they would be though. Most of them are Canadian, and some of the best people on Earth are Canadians."

Kinsey MacKenna has posed:
Kinsey sits with that reaction for a few moments before nodding. "Well, I imagine we have one in common. They are, in fact, the first to have suspected this. I suppose I'm still feeling rather bewildered by the notion. And with my mother dead and my father long gone I really have nobody to explore the whys of this with. It's taking some getting used to. I imagine my next trip to Odym may offer insight." Adding with an inclination of head, and a wink, "I believe Alpha Flight is okay with the matter. No worries there."

The odd, which, weirdly, was the hardest for her in terms of weightiness on her mind, dealt with, the other two matters are much easier.

"I've been asked to help with the overseeing of the LexCorps space station. I could use some pointers there. I imagine there is some hope that the gravitas of the ring might forestall any troubles in negotiations. It's, well, not my first having to deal with a potentially sticky matter, but I'd like to do a good job."

Superman has posed:
Superman remains quiet, letting Kinsey speak her mind. Leaning back against the counter, he finishes off his coffee and pours himself another cup. Offering Kinsey a refill, he holds out the pot of coffee once more, before putting it back down on the machine with a "shunk".

"AH. The Lexcorp Station." Now that got Superman's attention. "I am not sure I like where this plan of his is going. I would just do your best, but know that, whatever he tells you, he is thinking five moves ahead, and has machinations are always detrimental to super heroes, and even the Earth itself."

Kinsey MacKenna has posed:
"ABout what I was thinking. Colonel Danvers didn't seem terribly pleased about the matter. Something about a bad taste left in her mouth over a previous incident?" Kinsey shrugs and sips her coffee. "I have the advantage of Kibou. There's not a lot he can hide from intensive scans. I'd really rather not get into a proverbial pissing match with the man or his lackeys, though. I do have a list of things to look at and for. I don't imagine she'd be displeased if I disseminated my findings your way as well. As you say, we are the vanguard."

She grins over her coffee. "That was the interesting, if you missed it." Then a sigh. "Now for the troubling."

"I encountered a Cybertronian. Which in and of itself isn't an issue. It's not actually the first time I've met this one - I rescued him as it happens, some time ago. He's another who was rather more aware of my heritage than I was at the time. But I digress. It seems he's on earth."

A pause. Another sip of coffee. She hasn't had a cookie.

"Other than some minor law breaking he is actually blending in fairly decently. It's the why he's there that is troubling. He claims he's followed a beacon of sorts. A possible lead to a craft that may have carried others of his people that has been missing, as he tells it, for millenia."

Which should be troubling not only that they're on earth, but that they've bypassed discovery to this point, though Kinsey believes the latter has explanation.

Superman has posed:
Superman listens intently to everything that Kinsey says, storing it all away for future use if necessary, especially the Lex information. "I am sure that Colonel Danvers would have no issues with giving us this information. She's a good officer, and a true hero, so no worries about that."

A pause as Superman listens to more and drinks his coffee. "A Cybertronian. I have heard of them, but have yet to meet one. Interesting. On Earth? Now that is...something I didn't know. I'll have to make sure I add that to the League's database and get us up to speed on who and what they are. Thank you for that bit of intel."

Superman puts his mug down. "I'll need to get on this asap....a whole craft of them...on Earth. Missing...I'm not a fan of them bringing their war to Earth." Superman says, "Thank you again for coming Ms. MacKenzie. This is vital intel. We should do this more often. We can share intel." Superman nods towards the hallway. "Is there anything else we need to know?"

Kinsey MacKenna has posed:
Kinsey takes another sip of her coffee, then another, draining the mug, holding it up to show it's empty. "Perfect timing." As though she, herself was entirely responsible for the ending of this meeting. "I'll keep in touch if I learn anything more about the Cybertronians. I've asked my friend to impress upon them that I'd like to help. I believe I have his trust, but I felt it important that we all be in the loop."

She sets her mug in the nearby little sink for just such things.

"I think we've covered most of the news I had, but you really must start calling me Kinsey. I feel like I'm dealing with an intern when you call me that. This was lovely, though. Do feel free to come visit my station. I'll give you the tour."

That, also, with a wink. "Batman will be so jealous."
