Hanging out trying not to Wreck the rec room.
Date of Scene: 03 August 2019
Location: Rec Room - Xavier's School
Synopsis: Shannon and Sam chat about movies.
Cast of Characters: Cannonball, Nightingale, Cypher

Cannonball has posed:
Samuel Guthrie is here in the Rec room tonight. He is actually playing pool this evening. He is about half way through a game of nine ball. There is a case sitting on a table near him, as he seems to have his own pool cue.

Nightingale has posed:
Shannon is perched on one of the chairs nearby the pool table, not interfering with the game, but not completely unobservant of it, either. While she didn't bother with the finer variants of the game, the basics in of itself were fun in their own way. She's got some sort of spicy oriental cracker mix that she's snacking on, and seems half lost in thought as she watches Sam playing.

Cannonball has posed:
Samuel Guthrie will seem decent at the game not the best but pretty well skilled. He will make a double bank shot, and then look over to you. "So, what are you thinking about Nightengale?" He will ask her trying out her nick name.

Nightingale has posed:
Shannon smiles some, looking up. She was slowly getting used to actually hearing her nickname, glad that at least -someone- was getting it right. Thank heavens the one that Negasonic had come up with wasn't sticking! "Just thinking of a training run at the Salem Center hospital yesterday. Hey, you're actually pretty good at that... I couldn't make a shot like you just did!"

Cannonball has posed:
Samuel Guthrie says, "Well part of it is Ah had to learn to see how things would move when Ah hit them, so this sorta helped with the training on that. " he hmms and says "A training run at the hospital?" He will ask. as he moves to make another shot."

Nightingale has posed:
Shannon nods slowly, and her smile widens. She hugs her knees to her chest, thinking back. "Yeah, Josh took me there with him for some training. Just minor stuff, some bumps and cuts, he wanted to see if I could sort of -feel- the injuries without healing them. Diagnosis and all that, you know? I was starting to get it a little bit, but it's still pretty hard to control." Her smile brightens further, and she laughs softly. "There was the cutest little girl there you could have ever wanted to see. Looked like she was around seven. Just ran right up to me and asked if she could have wings, too."

Cannonball has posed:
Samuel Guthrie smiles and says "Kids can either be some of the cutest people you ever see, it can be sorta harsh too. It can be reassuring that they often will find differences interesting and if they are scared of it, most of the time when you explain something they are more open to it.

Nightingale has posed:
Shannon nods. "Yeah. A lot of times, kids haven't learned to be afraid of differences yet. Had to tell her I didn't know if she could have wings, but it was fine if she looked at mine." She smiles softly, eyes twinkling. "She loved it to pieces, and got her mom to snap a picture. Sure hope that taught her to not be afraid of differences."

Cannonball has posed:
Samuel Guthrie nods, and says "Well the fact her mom was cool with the pictures gives a bit of hope on that." He will move over to get himself a drink and says "Did you see the Ask me Anything Doug did online a month or so back?"

Nightingale has posed:
Shannon looks very confused, tilting her head. "The wha...?" She shakes her head, grinning wryly. "Got no clue what that is. Tell me about it?"

Cannonball has posed:
Samuel Guthrie says, "It was a thing where he was online not open to the general public of who he was but opened up to let folks ask questions about what it was like being a mutant and such. He did get a bit of hate from it from the normal hate groups, but actually gotta say it went better than Ah expected."

Nightingale has posed:
Shannon nods, resting her chin on her knees as she thinks about this. "Wish I'd have seen that one. Things were... pretty dismal around that time. It sure would've helped." She keeps a smile on her face. "I haven't got that kind of guts, to come out like that."

Cannonball has posed:
Samuel Guthrie nods, and says "Hmms, might be a good thing to set up, Ah had not thought about that. ah wonder..." He hmms and says "What a root beer?" He will ask her, as he scratches his chin a bit in thought "Ah gotta talk to Doug about this next time ah see him."

Cypher has posed:
"...Talk to me about what?" Doug says. He has a towel looped around his shoulders, and he's wearing a bathing suit, and flip-flops. It looks like he just got out of the pool. Still damp. He walks over to the soda bar, and starts making an italian soda with ice and lime juice and sugar. "You want one?"

Nightingale has posed:
Shannon grins from ear to ear and nods to Sam. "Drop some vanilla ice cream in that and sure!" My, my, did someone have a sweet tooth? She glances over at Doug as he comes in, waving to him and smiling. "Speak of the devil! How are you?"

Cannonball has posed:
Samuel Guthrie will chuckle, and be nice and make Shannon her Root Beer float. He chuckles and looks over to Doug and says "Ah was thinking we need to make a website, where mutants and normal folks can write in and ask questions. Sorta like your Ama thing. But would not only let folks ask questions when needed but also maybe give us an idea when folks need help. Would need to be clear of the school and hacking though. Think you could rig something up?

Cypher has posed:
"Heh." Doug scratches his calf with the other foot, as he sips his soda. "Dial X for X-Man?" He thinks about it, and then says, "I mean, it'd be doable. Hard to keep spammers out, though. Hmmmm. I mean, not impossible." He thinks about it, and then says, "I could start brainstorming some ideas. Another project for the pile, I guess. Hi, Shannon!"

Nightingale has posed:
"Ha, that's more than I could do. Wish I had half your guys' brains!" Shannon slides off of the stool, joining Sam and Doug at the soda bar. She raises her eyebrows, glancing at the oddity Doug has made, only to look at him with eyebrows raised.

Cypher has posed:
"Italian soda." Doug says. "Seltzer, ice, fruit juice - lime - and in this case, sugar to taste." He makes Shannon one, deftly. "Here. Try it." Then he says, "One of the goals of instruction here at the school is to make kids more worldly. Did wonders for us." Then he looks up at Sam. "I was thinking, we should get some of the gang together and then take the kids on a camping trip up in the mountains." He looks over at Shannon, and then says, "We can rent a cabin nearby, let them text us if they need us -- otherwise, leave 'em alone. Right?"

Cannonball has posed:
Samuel Guthrie hmms and nods his head a bit to that and says "Yea, maybe give a bit of a heads up on camping, Ah think maybe Colt might have some experience, but the rest of them are city kids. So might need a few pointers and not let Berto tell them a bear is going to eat them or something." He will smile moving back to his nine ball game. And when Ah got here, ah had pretty much not been out of the county Ah grew up in.

Nightingale has posed:
Shannon stiffens visibly at the mention of camping, freezing in place in the middle of reaching for the Italian soda. The color drains from her face entirely, and she presses her lips together in a thin line. She remains deathly silent, simply listening to the two.

Cypher has posed:
"Now what fun would that be?" Doug says. "Though in our group... we take bears seriously." He sips his drink again, and then says, "Yeah. You kids need time together to develop 'your thing', and so far, we haven't given it to you. So, we need to fix that." Then he looks at Sam. "How much heads-up did we ever get? Less than none. They'll figure it out." He looks over at Shannon. "...Huh. Well I mean it doesn't need to be camping, or a hotel, or..." He sips his drink. "...I think maybe I'd better leave you to talk this one out with her, Sam. I've got to get back to work."

Cannonball has posed:
Samuel Guthrie smiles and says "Well, we had a bit of a more diverse group than them but yea. " He looks over to Shannon and says "Actually with the group of new kids about not a whole lot of worry about wild animals, just means ya have to work together some. Between Colt, Bobby, and Mila would not be alof of normal stuff that would want to mess with ya.

Nightingale has posed:
Shannon's tone has turned ice cold and biting, with a very dark tone to it, her expression shifting to a definite scowl. Not one of fear, but of anger and grief. "There's enough to worry about from animals of the two-legged variety, rather than wild ones in the woods." She curls her hand around the glass with the Italian soda, and stalks over to one of the tall windows in the room, looking outwards and saying little else.

Cannonball has posed:
Samuel Guthrie 's brow raises a bit to this and says "Ok, you want to tell me what happened, and who Ah need to go have words with?" He will ask of her, and moves over putting a hand on her shoulder. Is it something from the camp or something else?"

Nightingale has posed:
Shannon stiffens with Sam's hand on her shoulder, but she doesn't try to shrug him off. Nor does she answer for a good minute or so. "I wish I could forget about camp, or be sure now would be different from then." Her shoulders slump, and her head bows. "Those used to be good times. Something I loved, once."

Cannonball has posed:
Samuel Guthrie looks to her, and says "Here it will be different Shannon, we honestly care about one another, and we don't tolerate folks hurting one another. When Ah said we were family we are, and we look after one another.

Nightingale has posed:
Shannon closes her eyes, just listening for a few moments. So far, he hadn't been wrong. Maybe, just maybe this time would be different. She sets her soda down on a small side table, turning towards Sam and just hugging him tightly, not saying a word.

Cannonball has posed:
Samuel Guthrie will hold her. his arms wrapped around her rubbing over her wings trying to reassure her. If you have any problems here let me know, Shannon this is a place Ah would willingly bring my little sisters, The people here are as safe as Ah know

Nightingale has posed:
Shannon relaxes visibly, the tension draining from her as she's just held. He had to be right. So far, he had been. She simply nods, trying to smile a little bit, but her eyes are misted over. "Gah... stupid thing to be upset about. It's just camp. Emergency rooms? Sure. Pediatrics ward? No problem. And I fall apart over something stupid like camp."

Cannonball has posed:
Samuel Guthrie looks to her, and says "We all have places that are rough for us, he will admit to her. Ah had a bit of a problem with Mines and tunnels for a while We will help ya through this any way we can Shannon.

Nightingale has posed:
Shannon nods, and tries to smile for him. Her instinct to listen and to heal kicks in, and she looks up at him with concern. "I know your family was involved with mines, you've mentioned that. What happened?"

Cannonball has posed:
Samuel Guthrie looks to her, and says "Well multiple things actually. First was the mines ended up being what killed my pa, the black lung, and then when Ah went to work in there, we had a cave in, and that's when my power triggered. If it had not kicked in then, me and the guy who was with me, well Ah would not be here talking to you.

Nightingale has posed:
Shannon nods slowly in understanding. "I'm sorry about your dad. If I could take that hurt away, I would." She smiles somewhat, tilting her head slightly as she thinks about his story for a moment. "So for both of us, places and things we loved are also where we came into our powers. How... how did you get past it, about the mines?"

Cannonball has posed:
Samuel Guthrie says, "Well, I don't know if Ah ever loved the mines. but it was back home and had to watch dad go." He tells her. "As for getting past it, Ah have always been the type of when something needs done Ah face it head on. Maybe going into the wilderness with friends might help."

Nightingale has posed:
Shannon nods. "If you can face things head on, how can I do any less?" She glances out the window, not keen on stepping away at the moment. "Is there any idea where this camping trip is going to be, or when? Or who's going?"

Cannonball has posed:
Samuel Guthrie says, "Well we aint sure yet right now it is just an idea, and would be with most of the class of students your part of. Maybe the year a head of you too. Biggest pain in the butt there would maybe be Ellie.""

Nightingale has posed:
Shannon rolls her eyes and lets out a short, sharp bark of laughter, shaking her head. "I guess in her way she's not so bad, when she's not calling me that god d... godforsaken name!" Something he says has her furrowing her brows again, but more in a look of confusion than anything else. "Who else here is a sophomore, anyways?"

Cannonball has posed:
Samuel Guthrie hmms and nods his head a bit to this and will name the other students in her class. "We do get others who come into classes along the way as we go as well.

Nightingale has posed:
Shannon nods, and smiles a bit more. "Who knows, maybe it won't be so bad. Will there be time before the school year starts, do you think?" There's a hint of the girl she must have been before her powers manifested, innocent joy at the prospect of a trip like that not entirely dead--just buried very deeply.

Cannonball has posed:
Samuel Guthrie hmms and says "Possible, will need to make sure things are safe and get permission and such, so liable to be after classes start. He hmms and says "You ever work with animals?" He will ask which may seem out of the blue.

Nightingale has posed:
Shannon blinks, looking a little surprised. "Work with them how? Like, with my powers? Or just spending time with them as a general thing?" She raises her eyebrows, seeming to think about this for a moment.

Cannonball has posed:
Samuel Guthrie says, "I was thinking more just spending time, taking care of them, and such. Was curious if you might want to help out in the stable we have here. We have horses here on occasion, and curious if you would be interested in working with them"

Nightingale has posed:
Shannon smiles again, and this time it definitely reaches her eyes. Her whole demeanor seems to brighten, her wings ruffling behind her in a way that almost could remind one of a kid at Christmas clapping their hands with delight over the smallest of presents. "That's one thing I loved about camp... there was horseback riding there. Mostly western style, only a few tried riding with an English saddle. Oh yeah. Those were some good times."

Cannonball has posed:
Samuel Guthrie smiles and says "Well you can ride most of the ones that are around the area. There is one though that is around but you only get to ride him if either Dani takes ya for a ride with him or if for some reason he lets you, but from what Ah understand the letting you ride him is only really chosen once and it comes with a whole lot of responsibilities. He is sorta special and only here on occasion

Nightingale has posed:
"Special? How?" That piqued Shannon's curiosity--and had her a bit wary at the same time. What could be so different about that horse, out of all the ones here? "He's not one that'll throw you, is he?"

Cannonball has posed:
Samuel Guthrie says, "Well, if he does not want ya to ride him, Ah am pretty sure he would but Ah was meaning more special, as in has wings.""

Nightingale has posed:
Shannon's jaw drops--and so does her reputation for clean language. "Holy shit!" Her hands fly to her mouth, covering it quickly, her face going beet red. "The heck... I wonder what other myths are real!"

Cannonball has posed:
Samuel Guthrie chuckles a bit at this and says "Well, Ah think most of them have some bases in reality. Brightwind came from our trip to Asguard. He is with Dani most times, but he does stop in on occasion. Ah try to make sure to help out with him when he is here. Besides how many gardens are fertilized with pegasus poo." He smiles at her "He might like you though, wing buddies and all." He grins at her

Nightingale has posed:
"First the pouch you gave me for my birthday... and now a pegasus? There are sure an awful lot of connections to Asgard here cropping up!" Shannon wrinkles her nose and rolls her eyes, giggling, caught somewhere between distaste and amusement. "Poo is poo. It all comes from the same place, and it all -reeks-!"

Cannonball has posed:
Samuel Guthrie chuckles and says "Both from the same trip. " He will tell her and moves back to his pool game. "We spent some time there had a bit of an adventure, and most of of us came back with a few things that were stripped of any magical properties, but well, Brightwing was special case."

Nightingale has posed:
"Wing buddies. Ha, love it!" Shannon retrieves both her Italian soda, and the root beer float Sam had made her, which by now has become a creamy, foamy glass of goodness. She tries the Italian soda, and looks pleasantly surprised. "Okay, root beer floats might have some competition." She goes quiet for a few minutes as she enjoys her drinks, seeming to think on something.

Cannonball has posed:
Samuel Guthrie smiles and plays a few shots, and says "Ah will have to show ya the armor sometime, but most of the time it is on the stand in my room. You heard Doug talking about giving you guys a chance to bond right?

Nightingale has posed:
Shannon nods, and actually frowns a little. "I get what he's saying, but if we get along with you guys, too, I wish he wouldn't push it so hard. In the end we're all family, like you said. It feels like dividing the family into groups, instead of bringing them together." Her eyebrows go up again, and her jaw drops slightly. "So you weren't putting me on about the armor that day, were you?"

Cannonball has posed:
Samuel Guthrie shakes his head and says "Na it's legit, and he is just wanting you guys to have what we had. We had a lot of adventures while we were here, some we really should not have been involved in to be honest. We learned how dangerous things could be. Most of the crazy things you here are legit."

Nightingale has posed:
Shannon shakes her head and shrugs. "Well, we'll see about all that. I still don't like how it feels like being divided, but yeah, I get what you're saying too." A few more moments of silence, and then she smiles. "You know... I think I've thought of the perfect use for that pouch you gave me. It's just about the right size for a small first aid bag I could keep with me."

Cannonball has posed:
Samuel Guthrie hmms and nods his head a bit to this and says Eitri would like that, he was an interesting guy, he made weapons, and armor, but Ah think he would have liked something from him being used to help people.

Nightingale has posed:
Shannon smiles brightly, nodding at the thought of putting a precious gift to good use. "Eitri? I feel like I should know that name... but I don't. Who is he?"

Cannonball has posed:
Samuel Guthrie smiles and says "King of the Dwarves in Nidavellir. " He will tell her "Pretty sure he is not the one who made the bag, but probably did choose it from some that was given to him." He hmmms "Kindra may have some work in making it but I have another one them so it is good.

Nightingale has posed:
"Well, whoever made it, it was a precious gift that will see good use." Shannon nods firmly and just smiles. "Guess that means a trip into either Salem Center, or Mutant Town, hit the pharmacy and get the necessary things."

Cannonball has posed:
Samuel Guthrie will look over and says "Well, anything Ah can do to help let me know, might be a bit different than your normal doctor bag, but will help." He hmms a bit and makes a shot and moves to get a sip of his drink.

Nightingale has posed:
Shannon brings her bowl of spicy oriental rice cracker mix over to share with Sam if he chooses, setting it down on a small nearby table. "Hey, that was a pretty good shot!" She smiles brightly, watching the game. "You know... it's being able to enjoy simple things like this--just spending time with the ones you care about--that makes all the dangerous things worthwhile."

Cannonball has posed:
Samuel Guthrie smiles a bit at her, and says "Well these moments do make life worth it, being with friends and family, but if you wan to know the reason I do the dangerous things? They need done and people need protected.' He looks at her and says "Have you figured out who the headmaster I mentioned was?

Nightingale has posed:
Shannon shakes her head, and shrugs. "No, and I haven't tried asking anybody, either. I have this funny feeling I'll kick myself once you tell me! So ummm.. who is it?"

Cannonball has posed:
Samuel Guthrie looks to her, and hmms. He takes his shot, and says "Magneto." He says simply and leans on his cue watching her.

Nightingale has posed:
Shannon raises her eyebrows, struck to silence for a few moments. "Wow. I didn't see that one coming." She runs her fingers through her hair, letting out a small sigh. "So... how did he get from being a headmaster here, to doing what he's doing now? What changed?"

Cannonball has posed:
Samuel Guthrie nods a bit to this and says "Well he and the man who created this school were friends. He is not doing the things he does cause he wants to rule. Him, being a king now may make that hard to believe, but he is wanting to protect mutants. He has always fought to protect mutants, most of the time it has been mutants first, but for a while he did try to travel the same path we do.

Nightingale has posed:
Shannon rubs her temples lightly and nods. "It's hard to know which side is right, and which is wrong." She knocks back some of her root beer float and sighs, shaking her head. "Pretty heavy stuff."

Cannonball has posed:
Samuel Guthrie nods his head a bit and says "I think the whole living together is right, but yea, when you see the hate some harness toward us, it can be harder to see it. " He looks to her, and says "And Ah know it is diferent for me, as Ah do get the easy road."

Nightingale has posed:
Shannon nods. "We're trying our best to live together with non-mutants. Yeah, I know a little bit about the hatred and fear. Maybe my taste of it was mild compared to some... but still, it was bad enough. And yet, when I think of that little girl at the hospital..." She smiles some, chuckling softly. "...it gives me hope that maybe, just maybe, some can be reached. Maybe some of the fear and the hatred can be stopped before it even starts."

Cannonball has posed:
Samuel Guthrie nods, and says "It is what Ah hope for, Ah grew up alot of people had issues with people for being different color of skin or such, but my family never believed in that.

Nightingale has posed:
Shannon smiles a little wider, and ducks her head just a bit. "I'd say your family did well by you... you certainly seem to have turned out okay." She folds her wings around her like a cocoon, but not too tightly this time, chuckling to herself.

Cannonball has posed:
Samuel Guthrie shrugs a bit and says "Am sure Ma would appreciate it, even if Ah might have been the practice kid." He jokes a bit about this and says "Not al the folks back home feel that way, but ma and pa, always were of the whole people is people no matter what they look like or believe."

Nightingale has posed:
Shannon smiles and tilts her head slightly. "Wish more thought like that. We'd all be a lot better off... mutants and non-mutants alike." She glances out the windows, eyes unfocused for a few minutes as she seems to be deep in thought. Then she shakes her head and smiles, the moment passed. "So, hopefully I'll get to see more of the other students, with the school year starting up pretty soon. Not complaining about present company, though!"

Cannonball has posed:
Samuel Guthrie chuckles and says "Sure ya want to hang out with someone who aint an old man like me." He teases

Nightingale has posed:
Shannon rolls her eyes and laughs. "Oh come on, you're not that much older than I am. And yeah, I like hanging out with you." She turns slightly red and grins, ruffling her wings in front of her.

Cannonball has posed:
Samuel Guthrie smiles and says "So, how old do you think I am?" He asks, grinning at her

Nightingale has posed:
Shannon tilts her head, grinning right back at him as she considers her answer. "I'd guess maybe about... nineteen? Twenty? Come on, you've got one of those faces that's going to be carded forever!"

Cannonball has posed:
Samuel Guthrie chuckles and says "21 last Feb, and I don't know about that, if so I might need to grow a beard or something.

Nightingale has posed:
Shannon wrinkles her nose with a distinct 'stankface' look, shaking her head emphatically. "Oh, heck no! I'm sorry, I just don't think a beard would look good on you at all!" She giggles softly, ducking her head.

Cannonball has posed:
Samuel Guthrie smirks and says "Oh, I could be the wooly booger of Salem center, don't ya think?

Nightingale has posed:
Shannon tries to keep her expression deadpan, but there is just no hiding that mischievous twinkle in her eyes. "Do that, and you will wake up one morning. Shaved." Yeah, okay, so much for holding back the laughter--she can't!

Cannonball has posed:
Samuel Guthrie fakes a shocked expression "Miss Shannon sneaking into the men's dorms. ah am shocked, think of the scandle." He grins at her.

Nightingale has posed:
Shannon bursts out laughing, flicking one of her rice crackers at him. "Oh shush, you were the one telling me that us young'uns ought to be having some of the same chances for mischief that you 'old folks' had!"

Cannonball has posed:
Samuel Guthrie chuckles and will catch the cracker, and says "As long as you promise to tell me if your planning on leaving the planet anytime you know of ok?

Nightingale has posed:
Shannon chuckles and nods, though she does shrug. "Okay, but where would I even go? Not to mention how?" She munches a few of the rice crackers herself, eyeing the pool table. Dared she to take a shot?

Cannonball has posed:
Samuel Guthrie shrugs and says "You never know, we have seen some crazy stuff, and how many different types of aliens?"

Nightingale has posed:
Shannon nibbles her lower lip, seeming to think on this for a moment. "Well, at least one for sure. Who knows how many others. But still, that doesn't mean I'll ever have the chance to see other worlds." She hugs her knees to her chest, resting her chin atop them, and smiles. "Wonder what other worlds are like..."

Cannonball has posed:
Samuel Guthrie just get a mischivious look on his face, and makes another shot on the pool table, and then moves to rereack the balls. He will take a sip of his drink and keeps quiet for a moment

Nightingale has posed:
Shannon raises her eyebrows and chuckles. "Okay, how come you look like the cat who just ate the canary?" The pool table was just too tempting for her to resist any longer; she gets up and goes to find a cue, and joins him.

Cannonball has posed:
Samuel Guthrie looks to her, and says "Well, what if Ah told you one of the girls Ah dated lived on a space station on the other side of the galaxy?" He will ask, and motion for her to take the first shot.

Nightingale has posed:
Shannon lofts her eyebrows again and chuckles. "I'd probably believe you. Maybe I haven't known you long, but so far you haven't lied." She leans over the pool table and takes aim at the cue ball, drawing her cue back and sending it on its way. The balls are sent in all different directions with a satisfying -thwack-, but unfortunately, none sink into any of the holes. "Grrrrr..."

Cannonball has posed:
Samuel Guthrie nods a bit and will look over as he moves to take his shot, getting the first ball, but giving her a chance on the second one "Well, Ah have met a few who have been able to travel intersteller distances.

Nightingale has posed:
"Somehow, I can believe that. Heck, you can shoot through the air like a cannonball and pretty much nothing can touch you... I've got wings and healing... we've got telepaths and telekinetics, biokinetics, who knows what else. Interstellar distances? Sure, I can believe that, too." She tries taking another shot, this time sinking a ball. Unfortunately, it's also the cue ball. "Did I mention I'm lousy at pool?"

Cannonball has posed:
Samuel Guthrie chuckles and catches the cue ball before it goes down the hole. He will grin at her, and says "Oh yea, Magic is real too, but with the whole gods and valahala might have been a clue on that one." He will set the ball back to where it was and show her more how to take the shot.

Nightingale has posed:
Shannon blushes a little as he shows her how to take the shot, at least managing this time to sink one of the balls--and have it be one of the ones she was -supposed- to. She grins right back and chuckles a little. "Are they really gods, though? Or just beings like us, who have their differences?"

Cannonball has posed:
Samuel Guthrie says, "Well, Ah don't know if they are gods or not, but Ah know there are beings in this universe, that have some amazing powers, things that would make us to them like ants are to us. Ah try not to dwell on it, but more think about how I can help folks."

Nightingale has posed:
"And think how we must seem to those without any powers at all. But we're not gods." Shannon smiles and steps back from the pool table to let Sam take his shot, tilting her head as she looks on. "It's kind of nice to think about it, really. It's something we have in common with other beings out there. Kind of makes you feel a little less alone in this universe."

Cannonball has posed:
Samuel Guthrie hmms and says "Well it depends on who ya have seen to be honest. Ah have faced some that are rather scary people, but Ah have also learned that even when Ah might be in over my head, but I will do my best even against overwhelming odds.

Nightingale has posed:
Shannon nods slowly, and just smiles. "You know, somehow I think you would. Me... I don't know what I'd do. Guess we don't any of us know what we're made of, till we're put through the fire."

Cannonball has posed:
Samuel Guthrie looks to her, and says "You want to know something truly important? Being brave does not mean your not afraid. Being brave means being scared but doing what is right anyways."

Nightingale has posed:
Shannon nods, smiling. "Sounds like one of my favorite science fiction heroes, almost word for word." The pool game seems forgotten for the moment, and she looks to him. "I was scared witless, coming here. But it turned out to be right."

Cannonball has posed:
Samuel Guthrie smiles and says "Well, Ah am glad you decided to come, I think your a good addition to the school and think the school will be helping you as well.' He makes another shot and says "So, which hero?'

Nightingale has posed:
Shannon blushes and ducks her head, smiling wide. "All I can do is try." She whistles low, watching the shot, and grins. "Nice one! Oh... which one? Doctor Who, of course." She closes her eyes as she recalls the quote. " 'Courage isn't just a matter of not being frightened, you know. It's being afraid and doing what you have to do anyway.' Or something like that."

Cannonball has posed:
Samuel Guthrie nods, and says "Ah think my favorite one of them is probably David Tennant, which one is yours?" He will ask, and steals some of her chips.

Nightingale has posed:
Shannon giggles and offers her crackers to him anyways. "I like them all, really. Classic and 'new'. That quote's gotten me through a lot the past couple years." She chuckles softly, eyes twinkling as she looks at him.

Cannonball has posed:
Samuel Guthrie nods and says "Ah think the first time Ah heard something similar may have been from John Wayne Courage is being scared to death, but saddling up anyway" He tells her. "We watched a lot of the old westerns growing up

Nightingale has posed:
Shannon shakes her head. "Don't think I've seen a lot of his movies. 'True Grit', but that's about the only one I can remember." She grins, brushing her hair out of her face. "Which of them was your favorite?"

Cannonball has posed:
Samuel Guthrie will hmms a bit at this and "Well I would either have to go with The Fighting Kentuckian, Three Godfathers, Quiet man. All three of them are ones Ah like but picking one out of the three would be rather hard.

Nightingale has posed:
Shannon nods. "Think I remember 'Quiet Man' a little bit, but not the other two. Maybe we could watch those sometime." She takes another shot at the pool table, and manages to sink two of the balls, with a satisfied little grin.

Cannonball has posed:
Samuel Guthrie nods his head, a bit and says "Maybe the Quiet man, and then another one Ah like but might have to make sure Professor Cassidy, and Theresa don't find it offensive. Ever seen Darby O?Gill and the Little People?

Nightingale has posed:
Shannon laughs and claps her hands. "Oh god... not for ages, but I loved that one as a kid! What about 'The Cat From Outer Space'? Have you ever seen that one?"

Cannonball has posed:
Samuel Guthrie nods, and says "That and That Darn Cat, we watched all those old old Disney movies and such. The Shaggy D.A. FLubber, and some of the non Disney ones like Dr. Doolittle. The push me pull me?

Nightingale has posed:
"Oooo, are you talking about the old version with Rex Harrison? That's a total classic!" The more Shannon listened to him, the more she liked, and grins. "We're so going to have to put together a movie playlist to go through, bust out some of the old favorites maybe we haven't seen in a while."

Cannonball has posed:
Samuel Guthrie nods his head a bit to this and says "Yep, the giant snail, and all the odds and ends. My little brothers and sisters thought it was goofy till they got into it and then loved it.

Nightingale has posed:
Shannon giggles softly. "Well, it -is- kind of goofy, but in a good way. Dangit, now you have me wanting to see that all over again! Look what you've done!"

Cannonball has posed:
Samuel Guthrie nods, and says "Well there are two classics, Ah have to break out in 2 months or so, have to make sure everyone has seen. Want to guess on the two Halloween classics?

Nightingale has posed:
Shannon shakes her head, and shrugs. "I'm not a real horror fan, so if they're horror flicks..." She shivers a little bit, paling slightly at the thought. "I might be training to be a healer, but that kind of movie just isn't my thing."

Cannonball has posed:
Samuel Guthrie shakes his head, and says "Na, one maybe a little horror but not much, both are more comedy family classics." He will see if she wants to gues.

Nightingale has posed:
Shannon shakes her head, looking completely confused. "I can't think of horror comedy classics. I was thinking of things like 'The Brain That Wouldn't Die', or something like that. Which ones were you thinking of?"

Cannonball has posed:
Samuel Guthrie says, "Monster Squad and Hocus Pocus. Two classics, and very fun movies. My littlest sister saw the bat at the first of monster squad when she was like 5 or 6 and was all It's so cute.""

Nightingale has posed:
Shannon laughs and claps her hands. "I should have known 'Hocus Pocus' would be one of them. Oh yes, we'll definitely have to see that one!" She grins and strikes a pose, holding her cue like a microphone. "I've put a spell on you...!"

The evening seems to go well, with a good game of pool, talk of many classic films, as well as hopes and dreams, and good times spent with family. It's perhaps the most at ease Shannon's been since arriving at the school, and she smiles. Hopefully, there would be more good times to come--only time would tell.
