A Rooftop Conversation
Date of Scene: 07 August 2019
Location: Brooklyn
Synopsis: Barry and Naria have a Speedster to Speedster Talk
Cast of Characters: Flash, Rave

Flash has posed:
Despite the unexpected cold snap, or rather, a cold snap by comparison. It was hardly cold in the grand scheme of things, but for Brooklyn in the summer, yeah, it could definitely be a bit warmer. Again, despite the unexpected cold snap, people were outside, enjoying the day. There was a band playing on the street, some unique fusion of Jazz and reggae, that oddly just seemed to work. There was a man hosting a card game, where he was trying to move them around quicker than the better could see. It was one of those, find the hidden ball or card out of three games that are so popular on the street. And there were a couple of guys working on a Ford Bronco that was parked by the side of the street.

Rave has posed:
For all the gifts she'd gotten, immunity to the cold wasn't one of them. Short skirts and super-speed didn't really mix well if you didn't want to freeze. Besides, she wasn't out clubbing or putting on a performance, so the figure-hugging running pants and the hoodie-jacket made sense. She might look like any other person out for a jog...if it wasn't for the fact that she was currently moving at the speed of a hypercar with a bright neon glow wrapped around her form.

Truth be told? She just needed to run for a bit and get the memories of the extreme violence she'd seen two nights ago out of her head.

Flash has posed:
Growing up in the mid-west, Barry Allen was well acquainted with the cold. It was part of the reason he went to Sun City University in Orlando. But too much heat, and especially humidity, wasn't great either. But still, he was in New York, in summer, enjoying a bagel, and he had to wear a jacket. That wasn't right. Even if it was a windbreaker, it was still a jacket in summer. It should have been hotter. And then he saw a blur run past. He continued to munch on his bagel, and quietly moved towards a building alley, where he could quickly run up to the top once out of sight. He tried to get a good look at the blur, to see where it was heading, if it was all in one direction, or in some kind of a zigzag pattern.

Rave has posed:
It wasn't a wild path, but there -was- a noticable movement to it that was certainly human in behaviour. It weaved between objects, it traced between paths, and suddenly? It turns upwards. Sweeping her way up the side of the wall and drifting up skywards. Kicking up the speed, the blue-haired girl was headed skywards towards the rooftop with an audible woop of joy.

Flash has posed:
Barry was careful about guarding his identity, and when the blur seemed to head up to the rooftop, he headed back down. He wasn't in costume. He had stayed out of sight. Yet this being, or force, or whatever it was, had somehow known it was being observed from afar. So, he evaded. While moving back down, he popped his own ring, changing into costume, and vibrated through one of the lower floors, re-appearing on the other side, the same side the blur had emerged from, and followed, as if in pursuit and had nothing to do with Barry Allen, mild mannered bagel eater.

Rave has posed:
Whereever Rave's speed came from? It didn't seem to be the Speedforce. The living lightshow cast herself into the air as she hit the siderail of the rooftop in her climb and twisted, coming to land neatly on the edge in a sitting position and giving a little exhale of catching breath and satisfied enjoyment. Sure the weather wasn't great, but one couldn't really beat the view of a city that quite often doubled as a playground?

Unobservant of the pursuit behind her, she doesn't immediately notice the red-clothed streak heading her way.

Flash has posed:
Arriving so quickly behind her that it was difficult to quantify, at least by typical measuring techniques, the Flash ran up there, and immediately took a seat on the ledge, "nice night for a jog," he called out, returning to normal speed. It was something he did, oscilating between speeding up time, and reverting to a normal conversational perception, the kind that the world could enjoy and interact with. "So, mutant, chemical bath, lightning strike, what's your story, lady?"

Rave has posed:
There's a sudden 'yipe' a jolt that might almost be dangerous given where she was sitting. All the ability to percieve time at a crawl didn't really matter if you were looking in the wrong direction! A blink, a tilt of her head, those faintly glowing eyes go wide at the recognition behind them. "Whoa!"

Probably not the answer he was looking for.

"Oh uh...I'm not sure?" the young woman answers lightly before shrugging. "I mean, I don't remember getting hit by lightning bolts or falling into nuclear waste..."

Flash has posed:
The Flash regarded her, with an incredibly friendly demeanour. He even crossed one leg over the other, as if it were the most natural thing in the world to sit like that on a rooftop ledge. "Most people remember things like that. It's just that you're a speedster, I'm a speedster, name's the Flash by the way. I would have gone with just Flash, but somebody else took that and the superhero union said I couldn't have the exact same name. They suggested The Flash, A Flash, Flasher, which is a whole different thing, or Flash32. Amazing isn't it, even in the superhero community, you can't get a name with a low number." He was of course joking through most of that.

Rave has posed:
"I know who you are!" she half-blurts before clearing her throat and gesturing to herself. "I'm Rave. Sort of suits me with the whole..." she gestures to herself, the faintly glowing eyes and that bright blue hair, "and the whole laser lights thing. I mean, I thought it was good." Friendly and excitable must run in the 'Speedsters' type.

Grinning a little at his joke, she tilts her head to the side. "I didn't actually think I'd run into you...or the other one in those other colors. This is kinda awesome."

Flash has posed:
"Other one in these colours? Well, that could be the original Flash, who's still out and about, even if he really should be retired. No matter how old a speedster becomes, they just keep running along. Look at the ah, what's his name, Whiz, Whizzer, Winged Whizzer, I can never remember, something like that. But he wears mostly yellow. But red, red, there's Kid Flash, Impulse, Jesse Quick, Makkari, Speed Demon, Le Vent, Burnout, Non-Stop, oh, I msut be missing some red speedsters. There are so many. And then there's yellow, blue, there are a lot of speedsters. Nice to meet you Rave. How's your day going?"

Rave has posed:
"I uh...wow...." Seems there were a few out there tha even she hadn't heard of. Weird. She was going to have to break out google later when she got back to her apartment. Tilting her head to the other side, she gives a little shrug of her shoulders before exhaling a breath. "Just sort of...running. Trying to..." she trails off to pause.

"You've been doing this for a while now, right?"

Flash has posed:
"Nah, only a couple of minutes, oh, you don't mean this run? I guess, been a while since people started calling me the Fastest Man Alive, which when you think about it, is totally disrespectful to other speedsters. Of course, I've never lost a race either..." he grinned slyly. It was so much fun to just run.

Rave has posed:
"Fastest 'Man'," Rave points out, lifting a finger with a slight grin before she shakes her head lightly. "I just...I ran across something last night. Mobsters and this guy, the 'Punisher', shooting at each other. It was hard to know who was who or who was the badguy and then...well, I'd never seen someone get just 'blown away' completely. I didn't see it coming, but I uh...got to see it all unfolding at that speed."

Flash has posed:
"Oh wow, yeah, that can be tough. Really tough. Have you tried Doc Samson? He's a superhero who specialises in counselling other superheroes. Apparently was a therapist before he became all muscley and his hair turned green. Or, if you want, I've got ears. No qualifications, but I'm here?"

Rave has posed:
"Doc who...?" she begins, but she blinks before shrugging her shoulders. "It only happened last night. I've just been trying to...run it off. Y'know?" she comments and glances towards the scarlet speedster.

Flash has posed:
"Samson, Doctor Leonard Samson," though he had actually been born under a different name, the Flash didn't know that. "Big guy, long green hair, you'd know him if you had met or seen his ads. I wish I had hair like that. But not good for the suit. I mean, can you imagine trying to cram long hair into a cowl like this? It'd add milliseconds to my changing. I get that, yeah, it takes time to process these things."

Rave has posed:
She'll probably have to write that down, but instead her fingers tip into her jacket before she comes back out with her phone, tapping away at her notes in several seconds before. Clearing her throat, the girl gives a little laugh and gesturing to herself. Those long 'blunette' locks of hers are pretty bright. "Why do you think I don't wear a mask? Well...that and it all kinda happened in front of a crowd of people who knew me. I don't really have that whole 'secret identiy' thing. I've uh..."

She pauses, grinning sheepishly. "I've got a social media thing and all."

Flash has posed:
"Ah, yeah, that'll complicate things. I went mask from day one. Safer for friends, family, coworkers, but you can blur your face by vibrating, just takes practice. But if it's already out there, yeah, kind of hard to scrub. Once it's on the internet, it's there forever. Unless you seek out somebody like Iron Man or Batman. I imagine they might know a way to clear it."

Rave has posed:
"Iron man doesn't much seem to care," Rave points out, but the mention of blurring faces by 'vibrating' has her raising an eyebrow. "Vibrating? I mean I tend to just...glow when I run. Never tried actually vibrating anything crazy-fast on its own." Newbie speedsters, aren't they adorable?

Flash has posed:
"You have to get acquainted with your powers. If you're worried about other people, and a speedster, just run off to someplace quiet, in the boonies, and have fun experimenting, see what you can do. Of course, you should try not to disturb any wildlife either." He was giving a few points as he continued to sit on the ledge, as if it were the most normal thing in the world. "You should always be trying to learn, to grow, to improve on things."

Rave has posed:
"Well..." she begins, gesturing to herself. "I have got the hang of a few tricks. Like shooting lasers and stuff...can you do that?" It wasn't mocking, it was a legitimate question from the girl before she tilted her head. "I mean, I've never actually -seen- how you guys move since I got my abilities. Everything on the news when I was younger was just...a blur."

A pause, she grins a little as she looks towards Barry. "Want to see if you can show me how it's done?"

Flash has posed:
"No, I don't shoot lasers. How do you do that?" He asked, curious. Of course, not all speedsters were exactly alike, but that was definitely a new trick for him. "Sure, let's go for a run."
