Date of Scene: 10 August 2019
Location: Horse Stables - Xavier's School
Synopsis: =The stalls are cleaned for Dani and Brightwind's return home
Cast of Characters: Cannonball, Nightingale, Moonstar, Pixie

Cannonball has posed:
Samuel Guthrie is out in hte stables this evening. He is cleaning out the stalls, and putting fresh hay down. Where some might be bothered by the smell or the work, Sam seems at home with the manual labor.

Nightingale has posed:
Many hands, it is often said, make light work. So it may be just as well that Sam isn't the only one mucking out stalls this evening. A very bewildered, be-winged young mutant might be espied tending to one of the empty stalls, not seeming to mind the work, either. She doesn't seem to yet take note of anyone else's presence, however. What could have happened?

Cannonball has posed:
Samuel Guthrie will come along to the stall Shannon is working on and seeing as she seems distracted he will smirk a bit and throw bit of hay into the stall, and onto her by "accident". He will be learning against the edge of the stall when she turns to see who did it smirking.

Nightingale has posed:
It actually takes a few seconds for Shannon to realize that something's been thrown on her, and another for her to pluck some of the (hopefully clean) hay out of her hair and wings. She whirls about to try and ascertain the source, not looking mad or even annoyed; it was just one more surprise in her eventful day. "Oh... hey, Sam!" She flicks a bit of the hay back at him, chuckling a little bit.

Cannonball has posed:
Samuel Guthrie did use clean hay in fact most of the bail he got it from is beside her "Hey, what has you out here tonight?" He will ask her. He will step closer and pull a bit of hey from her wings that might be hard for her to reach.

Nightingale has posed:
"Trying to think straight. Think I just got hit by a freight train." Shannon cracks something of a smile, extending her wings just enough so Sam can reach any hay that might still be stuck in them. "At least something like this is... well, -normal-."

Cannonball has posed:
Samuel Guthrie smiles and nods his head a bit and once he has cleaned the hey, he will ask "What happened?" He will ask, and reaching up to a high spot on the wall pulls a stray pegasus feather offering it to her "Yea Normal."

Nightingale has posed:
"Went down to Salem Center for a little bit... there were a few shops I wanted to check out. Didn't get a chance the last time I was there. Got more than I bargained for." Shannon doesn't quite seem to recognize the feather in Sam's hand as belonging to a pegasus, momentarily mistaking it for one of her own.

Cannonball has posed:
Samuel Guthrie will raise a brow and say "Everything ok, no one gave you too much trouble, AH hope." He seems concerned a bit at this. "Do I need to go feed someone some pavement?" He will ask.

Nightingale has posed:
"Not unless you want to tangle with the Avengers." Shannon pauses, letting that sink in. She's still processing the thoght, ruffling her wings and dislodging a bit more hay from her feathers. "And not only that, but ummmm, well... kind of suck down to the danger room, too."

Cannonball has posed:
Samuel Guthrie says, "Well have done it before, and don't think they would have given ya grief. He hmmms a bit and says "Danger room?" He will ask not remembering her to have a session schedueled for today"

Nightingale has posed:
Shannon smiles a little sheepishly and nods. "Yeah. I didn't get in by myself, though. It was already open. Ran into Lorna and... I think the name was Kurt?" Pegasus or not, the occupant of the stall definitely left it much in need of a cleaning, with Shannon giving a bit of a stankface look as she starts taking care of what needs to be. "It was Captain Rogers I ran into first. Kind of literally. Had no idea he played guitar. Tony Stark showed up after." Ohhh yeah. That would explain the bewildered look on her face!

Cannonball has posed:
Samuel Guthrie says, "Blue, furry with a tail?" He will ask "Thats Kurt Wagner, Blue furry no tail and about 3 times wider than Kurt is Dr. Henry McCoy." He will offer to help her sort them out." He hmmms a bit and says "I did not know it either, but have only met them a few times myself. Both sem like pretty decent fellows, even if Tony is a wee bit fll of himself."

Nightingale has posed:
"Blue, furry, tail, agile as heck." Shannon cracks a bit of a smile, ruffling her wings a little bit. "Yeah, I met Mr. McCoy on my first day here... he's real nice, too." She has to poke her head out of the stall for some slightly fresher air as she hits a particularly ummm, earthy spot. "Gaah... what's this one been eating??"

Cannonball has posed:
Samuel Guthrie chuckles a bit and says "If Ah had to guess may have gotten into a patch of wild onions while out in the pasture. You know those will even flavor a cows milk if they get into them. He will be nice though and bring her a clean wheelbarrow and moves to empty hers.

Nightingale has posed:
Shannon offers a grateful smile, seeming to somewhat come back to reality for the moment, giving Sam a quick hug. Hey, it didn't hurt, they both already stank of horse leavings anyways. That wheelbarrow doesn't remain empty for very long, with more leavings soon plopped inside to be taken out as soon as reasonably possible. "Yeah, the Captain was pretty laid back, kind of chill. Real nice guy. Tony... real nice, too, but holy shiitake mushrooms, felt like I got hit by a whirlwind by the time he was there and gone again!"

Cannonball has posed:
Samuel Guthrie hugs her back, and smirks a bit and says "Yea, Ah got that feeling, luckily my billionaire best friend is not quite as whirlwind most of the time. Is he joking, well with some of the other stuff he has said . We had a school BBQ not long ago they both and the wasp were at. Cap borrowed my motorcycle for an event we had.

Nightingale has posed:
Shannon nods a little. "Yeah, I think I remember Kitty or someone else mentioning that at the birthday party my second day here. Didn't think I'd be actually running into them, though." She rolls her eyes, shaking her head. "Tony actually thought the Captain was trying to recruit me to the Avengers. That's just pure baloney... no way in hell am I anywhere near ready for anything like that!"

Cannonball has posed:
Samuel Guthrie smirks a bit and says "And there you show your already getting used to the life." He tells her grinning at her.

Nightingale has posed:
Shannon blinks, looking really confused now. "What do you mean, getting used to the life?" She plops a bit of clean hay into Sam's hair, giggling a little bit as she sort of comes back to herself enough to--pun intended--horse around.

Cannonball has posed:
Samuel Guthrie grins at her, and says "You said that you were not ready for it not that it was not something that could not happen. You see the possibility of working with the Avengers with training." He will move the hay piece behind his ear. So, you know where that feather Ah gave ya from right?

Nightingale has posed:
Shannon shrugs, and looks at the feather again. "Looks a bit like one of mine. Not surprised, the way Kurt had me flying and flipping about in the danger room today. Only kind of wondering why just one feather came out instead of a few more." She rolls her eyes, letting out a short, sharp laugh and shaking her head. "They've already got good people there, why would they bother with me? Besides... someone's got to learn to patch you guys up here."

Cannonball has posed:
Samuel Guthrie chuckles and says "Well, Ah think anyone would be happy to have you around, and figured that was a bit big for one of yours, Ah am pretty sure that's one of Brightwings. Kurt is one of the ones who helped me learn how to do some of the flips and turns Ah do, takes a lot of practice but worth it.

Nightingale has posed:
Shannon smiles and tucks the feather in behind her ear, resolving to find a place of honor for it somewhere later. "Yeah, it got pretty crazy. He had some sort of circus simulation running, and the door was open. Lorna was in there, too, but she left pretty quickly. Not sure why... hope she's okay." Chuckling she works on filling up the wheelbarrow a bit more, thinking over the whole thing. "I was just happy to watch, but that stinker put the spotlights on me. Next thing you know, he had me flipping and flying around like it was nothing, and we both had a ball."

Cannonball has posed:
Samuel Guthrie nods, and says "Kurt grew up in a circus. He has mostly good memories of it Ah think." He will grin a bit and says "You will fill it in the morning, but the more you do them work, the easier it will become, eventually somewhat muscle memory.

Nightingale has posed:
The soft chirping of crickets and the light whirring outside of cicadas creates a peaceful backdrop to the lingering warmth from the sunset, fading into evening's light chill. Shannon nods and chuckles softly in response to Sam. The pair were cleaning out the stables, tending to the chore with good spirits and camradarie. Shannon had a feather tucked away behind one ear, and there was no doubt her clothing would need to be washed afterwards. It seemed likely for the pair, actually. "Yeah, I think after flying around as crazy as I was in there, I'll probably be feeling it. But heck, it was worth it. Really had a blast, more than I thought. Though I could almost cheerfully have smacked Kurt upside the head for turning the spotlights on me at first!" She chortles, and fills up the wheelbarrow a bit more. "Phew. Should track down all the wild onions out there and get rid of them!"

Cannonball has posed:
Samuel Guthrie starts spreading fresh hay down into the stall once Shannon has it cleared. They happen to be in the stall next to Brightwind's stall. Sam keeps it ready just in case the pegasus stops in. "Ah am sure if we did it would have some kind of bad effect, something worse would come along or something." He grins over to her, and says "Wait till your having to do all those flips and turn and dodge things being shot at ya.

Moonstar has posed:
There was a sound. Something in the distance. Not the sounds of the city, or a distant aircraft coming in for a landing at the airport several miles away, or the chirping of crickets or cicadas. No, it was the sound of something else. Getting closer now, the "flap, flap, flap" of a very large bird or winged creature was even now reaching their ears.

A soft "neigh" also broke the stillness of the night, a familiar sound to those who had heard the sounds of horses on the plains or on a farm. Was it a horse?

"Kaaa-thunk. Clop, clop, clop." The sounds of hooves hitting the ground, and an almost sigh of relief as the large, winged horse touches the ground in the sunset, Brightwind's shadow fully illuminated by the light from behind her.

On Brightwind's back was the outline of a woman in armor wearing a winged-helm, a familiar sight to those that knew her, gone these many months. Taking off her helmet, she let her long dark hair flow around her, shaking her head, and letting it meld into the now coming darkness of the cool, crisp night.

Danielle Moonstar - Dani, had come home.

Nightingale has posed:
Shannon laughs, and shakes her head. "I counted myself lucky just to hit the net I was aiming for and come out in one piece. Who are you kidding? Still, it was a blast." She was turning around to take hold of the wheelbarrow out and properly dispose of the ahem, stall leavings....

...and then there was that sound. So very much like the beating of her own wings in the air, but much, much bigger. Much stronger. There was a neigh, the thudding of hooves, and an unfamiliar silhouette in the entryway. No way. She lets out a soft little meeping sound and folds her own wings around in front of her like a cocoon, ducking back into the stall. "How does the saying go, Sam? Speak of the devil and they show their horns?"

Cannonball has posed:
Samuel Guthrie will look over and at the sound, a large grin will break out on his face, and says "Na, the devil is another of the team." He jokes a bit at her, and says "Welcome home Chief." He will put the pitch fork aside, and walks over offering his hands to help Dani down. Sam smells a bit of the stalls as he has been helping clean them, but that is a smell both he and Dani are used to.

Moonstar has posed:
Patting Brightwind's left side of her neck with her free hand, the one not holding the helmet anyway, Dani says something soothingly, a whisper between her and Brightwind. The horse then senses something...BW stomps, snorts, and moves a step back when it senses others in the yard, unfurling it's wings and ready to dart into the air once more.

"It is okay Brightwind. I think they are friends." As Sam comes closer, Dani grabs his helping hands, and lets him maneuver her to the ground. Then, she grabs him in a hug. "Sam! It is good to be home." Dani holds him a little "too" tight, not realising her strength. She ignores the smell, looking at the other girl over Sam's shoulder.

"Why, hello there." Dani releases Sam. "Why hello." Up. Down. Dani's eyes study Shannon for a moment. "You are new. I am Dani. Nice to meet you...?"

Nightingale has posed:
Shannon ruffles her wings slightly. Damn it, she was caught again, with no graceful way out of the situation! Sighing softly, she had a funny feeling this was going to be a recurring theme, and perhaps had best start getting used to it. She cracks a smile, tilting her head and taking a few deep breaths to relax somewhat. "Shannon Lance... most just either call me Shannon, or sometimes Nightingale." She offers her hand, reaching through the feathery barrier around her, which does relax somewhat. "Sam's mentioned you... it's nice to finally put a face to the name."

Cannonball has posed:
Samuel Guthrie lifts Dani in the hug not worried if it is a bit tight. He sets her back down pretty soon, and says "Brightwing's stall is all fresh, was jut cleaning all the stalls. Hope your back for a while, there has been a lot going on, could use you to bounce ideas off again." He tells her "Shannon here is the newest student to join us, she is a fan of mythology, told her, if she helped out here she might luck up get to see a real pegasus."

Moonstar has posed:
"Nightingale. That is a very apt name. I like it. Nice to meet you Shannon." AFter letting go of Sam, Dani takes Shannon's hand, and shakes it, firmly. "Oh has he now?" A smirk, and a sideways glance at Sam, and she is beside Shannon looking at Sam.

Thank you Sam," Dani's words bespoke her gratitude. Sam would know how much that truly meant to her. Brightwind was her soul-sister. It meant everything to her that he had taken care of Brightwind's home. "I think I am back for good this time. Asgard is...gone." That was all she said. Sadness permeates her every word.

Glad that Sam changes the subject, Dani smiles. "Bounce away...and is that right?" A glance, and a subtle smile replaces her sad frown. "Well, Nightingale, would you like to go for a ride sometime? Brightwind doesn't bite...no, wait, she does." A laugh. "Straight out of the mythology books!"

Nightingale has posed:
A bright red blush sets Shannon's face aflame and she shoots Sam a look that could turn one to proverbial ashes. "I did actually like horses before coming here. Just... not something I talk about these days." She leaves the subject there, relaxing her stance and smiling somewhat. "He's not entirely wrong, though, Dani. He did mention the possibility, though it's just... well, just plain out peaceful in here."

She's struck to silence as she listens to Dani for a moment. Never mind Brightwind or mythology, or seeing things one thought mere fantasy turned to reality. Grief is grief, an unfortunately universal emotion all seem to experience at some point in their lives. She unfolds her wings just enough to wrap them around Dani and pull her in for a brief hug, if allowed. "I'm so sorry."

Cannonball has posed:
Samuel Guthrie smiles over at Shannon and says "She is a good kid, and makes good cookies." He adds in. He will know Dani is wanting to talk about other things. He will talk to her about Asgard later "Your just back in time to help with Berto's new venture, and maybe come hang out in my club sometime.

Moonstar has posed:
"That is okay." Dani nods in understanding at Shannon's comment. "Horses are amazing." Another nod. "Especially when they have wings." Somehow her helm, which she had in her right hand, had disappeared as Dani now crosses her arms across her chest, and shoots her right hip out to the side in a very Dani-esque pose, as Sam would remember. Was that lecture pose, or something else? Hmmm.

"Good cookies hmmm?" Dani's eyes flash amusement, then look back at the "new" mutant. "Thank you Shannon. It was tragic. So much death..." Dani's eyes flash crimson-black for a moment as the air seems to get...cooler? Dani's voice was cold, like an empty grave, giving her a sombre air.

Then, the moment was gone. Gasping, Dani says, "I am sorry." Her eyes find Sam, and the anguish there was only there for a split second, and then it was gone. "I don't know what came over me....did you say Roberto has a new venture?" Now it was her turn to change the subject, and fast. Her powers were "wonky" since Ragnarok. Something didn't feel right.

Nightingale has posed:
Shannon looks more than a little bit puzzled at Dani, letting her go and stepping back as the chill in the air raises gooseflesh all up and down her arms. The change in her voice, too, was not lost on one with an ear for music, her confusion growing. Wait. Winged helmet... a death-like chill in the air. No way. There was just no way... was there? Her eyebrows shoot upwards; could she be reading this situation correctly? She ducks back into the stall she'd been working on, disliking the feeling of intruding on the moment between Dani and Sam, and busies herself with finishing the task at hand.

Cannonball has posed:
Samuel Guthrie look to Dani, and nods his head a bit "Been out to New Asgard to give Thor a bit of info a while back. We can talk about that later." He says "Berto is starting a mutant friendly corp. Place that hires and helps train mutants to work in legit jobs and helping out mutants in general.

Pixie has posed:
Megan Gwynn has finished up some practice drill in the danger room and was eager to try her hand at horse riding..Although she had heard the the stables needed cleaning and they could always use an extra hand. So here she is, eager to help, as long as there is a chance of trying her hand at horse riding later. She flies in from the east, dressed in denim cut-offs, a black T-shirt and a green baseball cap. At least she doesn?t have to worry too much about getting these clothes dirty. "Hey all! Need some help cleaning stables?" she asks cheerfully.

Moonstar has posed:
Dani doesn't notice Shannon's reactions at first, feeling something call to her. A clarion call...was there a battle nearby...?...death...that was gone almost as suddenly as it had arrived. Now noticing that Shannon has ducked back into the stall, Dani's frown spoke volumes. "Shannon...it is okay. I..." A pause.

"Perhaps I should not have come back." Dani's helm is in her hand once more, and she looks like she was going to move back to Brightwind, who neighs in slight anxiety, stomping a bit, feeling her companion's emotions.

Then Dani stops. "Thank you Sam. We can talk about New Asgard later then. That helps. Ah 'berto. Good for him." Deep breath. "Oh, hi there. Sure, I think Shannon could use a hand in there." Dani nods at Megan and points back towards the stable.

Nightingale has posed:
Shannon feels a tear spring to her eye; without meaning to, she had royally messed up, and just wished she could reach out to Dani. "I'm sorry if I did something wrong." There's a slight quaver in her voice, the young mutant peeking out around the door to the stall, and then stepping out again. She reaches out to gingerly touch Dani's hand, unable to find the words to express herself.

Cannonball has posed:
Samuel Guthrie says, "You should be back here Dani, this is your home, and you have been missed. We actually got most of the old game around either here or in the area. Doug and Illyana and Ah are all living here at the mansion. Berto is in New York, and Rahne is living in Mutant town. They got me in charge of the new mutants and helping plan out their classes and such." He looks over to Shannon and says "Shannon, Dani has a few unique abilities, that it would seem she is still getting used to, but Dani would never harm one of the students here. She was co leader with me for most of our time here."

Pixie has posed:
Megan Gwynn blinks slowly, peering between the three of them. "Oh wow, did I come at an awkward time or what?"she arches a brow as she notices Shannon's anxiety and Dani's feeling like she should leave. Then she notices the beautiful Pegasus. "Heey is that a pegasus? for real?. She's sooo beautiful!" she peers admiringly at the Pegasus But is hesitant to touch her without permission.

Moonstar has posed:
With a sideways glance at Shannon, Dani smiles ever so subtley. "No, of course not, my Nightingale! You did nothing wrong." The touch was kind and soothing. "Thank you." Dani supresses her psychic powers, not wanting the touch that Shannon gave her to go deeper. That was a challenge in and of itself.

Sam's words are like a cold compress on a feverish face. Nodding in appreciation, Dani sighs, and says, "Thank you Sam. It is good to be home. I am glad you are here. I am glad you are running the team. I am...sorry I was gone. You are right. This is my home."

A deep breath later, and Dani shakes her head. "No. Awkward is always surrounding us I think...so you'll fit right in. I'm Dani." Dani looks at Megan for a second, and then Brightwind. "That...is Brightwind." The "pegasus". "Go ahead. He won't bite..." Dani smiles behind her left hand, and sends to Brightwind to allow Megan to touch her.

Nightingale has posed:
Shannon nods, a bit of her own smile returning. She lowers her hand, staying by Sam and Dani, as Megan approaches Brightwind. She'd have a chance soon enough, perhaps. "Yes, this is home. And Sam's got a huge heart, with moxie to match. Probably one of the kindest I've met since coming here, though everyone's been incredible. Even Negasonic, in her way." She smiles a bit sheepishly. "It makes it easy to slip up and not think about how it is just... getting used to things." No, she was definitely not afraid, that much seemed sure. She wasn't looking for the exit, nor were her wings forming a protective cocoon any longer. Instead, she tilts her head, watching the exchange between the rather imposing pegasus, and the pixie-like girl approaching him.

Cannonball has posed:
Samuel Guthrie smiles and says "Well now that your back, we will have to catch ya up. Maybe will get Shannon to help me make some of ma's chicken for ya tomorrow. He will tell Dani. Had a few issues could use hep with most current is Sentinels are back, and looks like Magneto is ready to drop part of genosha on them on US soil.

Pixie has posed:
Megan Gwynn smiles, "Nice to meet you n person, Miss Moonstar." she glances at bright wind, "Ooh age? Sorry my bad. May I let him? I had heard stories of you and your Pegasus but never seen him for real.."

Moonstar has posed:
Nodding, Dani agrees with Shannon as she speaks about Sam, and then looks at her quizzically for a moment. "Negasonic? Really? That's...good. Yeah...he's got a big heart, doesn't he?" Dani turns back to Sam, and actually smiles. A real one. "Oh! That would be nice! I love that chicken soup."

"Nice to meet you as well." Dani says to Pixie. Brightwind prances a bit, right foot forward, and watches Pixie out of his right eye, very carefully. Sensing that Dani is okay with it, Brightwind allows Pixie to touch him, with a soft "pppbbbtppp" out of his mouth, a sound of acceptance.

Nightingale has posed:
Shannon chuckles softly, and nods. Her cheeks go rosy pink and she doesn't quite look at Sam, though. "Sure, we could work on that chicken, maybe I could make those baked potato wedges or even those potato skins olé to go with it." She glances over at Dani and smiles. "Do you have any favorite kinds of food maybe I could learn to make for you?"

She looks over at Megan and Brightwind, smiling to herself. "He's really something. You lucky, Megan!"

Cannonball has posed:
Samuel Guthrie will move back beside Dani and put his arm across her shoulders "We could always head down the road for burgers fries and chawk awk shakes." He says the last the way bird brain did when they watched after him. "Heck, I will even carry ya so Brightwind can have a break. Will even try to go slwo enough so these two can keep up." He motions towards Shannon and Megan, teasing the two a bit.

Pixie has posed:
Megan Gwynn ooohs and skips over to Brightwind, petting him gently on the nuzzle. "He's sooo beautiful! Are there others like him? Can I have one too?" her wings glow bright pink, fluttering quickly. When Sam challenges her, she makes a face. "Oooh, you"re gonna carry her? That's sooo romantic! I mean we'love totally beat you though, yannow?" she grins, "But I accept your challenge! How about it, Shannon?"

Moonstar has posed:
As Shannon chuckles and speaks, something wonderful happens. Dani...relaxes. Her shoulders lose some of the tension in them. Her eyes stop squinting. The helmet disappears once more. While watching Pixie and Brightwind, and hearing Sam's banter, Dani allows herself to actually relax. "Thank you Sam. Better than Uber. I miss the burgers and fries here..." It was good to be home.

Looking back to Shannon, Dani hmms. "Well...I have a few. My Grandfather..." Dani's voice's tone reflects a good memory, of nostalgia, "...made an amazing Blueberry pie. Can you do that?" Dani looks at Shannon, hopefully.

Brightwind doesn't move, a silent picture out of myth and legend. Pixie's touch is accepted, and his slightly hot-to-the-touch flesh was soft and just a touch damp from the long flight that Dani and Brightwind had just taken, from another Realm.

"He's unique Megan. There are no others like him." Dani says, almost sadly, "He's the last." She moves forward, and moves to escort him into the stables, with affection. Brightwind nuzzles her, and goes where she leads.

Nightingale has posed:
There's a pang of something, that dims Shannon's smile slightly as she listens to Sam and Dani. But she says nothing on the matter, instead focusing on something comforting and familiar. "It might not be -his- blueberry pie, but I could make a pretty decent one. Just be glad you never tasted my first attempt as a child." She rolls her eyes, turning away to hide her expression even as she laughs. "I forgot the lemon juice and it ruined the filling." She glances at Megan and shrugs. "I know better than to race Sam, even if he slows down." This just wasn't her day, was it?

Cannonball has posed:
Samuel Guthrie grins and says "We can take it leasurely if you want to just go and grab some food. Dani aint the one I have carried the most, but there have been plenty of times. Believe it or not I think Illyana was the one I carried the most often.

Pixie has posed:
Megan Gwynn smirks at Shannon, "Come on, have a little faith in yourself. We can beat him!" she at least does not lack in confidence. As Dani leads Brightmoon away, she waves to them both. "Well, she seems nice. Are you two...Together?" yup, blunt and to the point.

Nightingale has posed:
The look that Shannon shoots Megan to that blunt question could strike one down in an instant. She says nothing on the subject, however, instead shrugging. "If he keeps his speed down, we might be able to. You better than me, you fly about twice as fast as I do at my top speed. Going to have to train some more on that." Her voice, though cordial, has taken on a chill, and an aching tremor underlying her words.

Cannonball has posed:
Samuel Guthrie looks over and says "Me, and Dani? Na, we just old friends. Ah have known her as long as I have known Rahne, Doug and Berto. We all started out here together. Well Doug was like a month or two in but still, they are all my class of new mutants.

Pixie has posed:
Megan Gwynn smiles and nods to Sam, glancing over at Shannon and wriggling her brows almost conspiratorially. "Just friends huh. Well that's nice.." she quietly elbows Shannon as she says that before leaping into the sky. "Well I'm not gonna lose to you two, if you're up for a challenge, let's have a race!"

Nightingale has posed:
Yeah, the chill in Shannon's eyes and voice fades just as quickly as it came, melted away by the bright red suffusing her entire face in the space of a few heartbeats. She actually manages to laugh, just shaking her head a little bit. "She's nuts. Completely nuts." She calls out to Megan as she leaps into the sky, "It's not lack of confidence, it's pure and simple fact, but if you ever want to put that to the test, we'll race. Loser gets dishes duty for the day!"

Cannonball has posed:
Samuel Guthrie smiles and says "I'll give her a bit of a head start, and then will get us some burgers waiting when she gets there." He teases a bit and looks over to Shannon "Did Dani and I look like a couple?"

Nightingale has posed:
Shannon nods a little. "Yeah, you kind of did." She sighs a little bit and shrugs, smiling some. "None of my business if you are, but still..."

Cannonball has posed:
Samuel Guthrie shakes his head, and says "Na, actually never dated any of the girls in my class of new mutants. Dani and I were co leaders though so that might be what it was old married couple symptoms maybe.

Nightingale has posed:
Shannon rolls her eyes and chuckles. "I've never dated. Period. Or any of that other stuff." She looks back at Brightwind's stall and smiles some. "Think I should have spoken up? I mean... I wanted to get to know Dani just to know -her- first."

Cannonball has posed:
Samuel Guthrie says, "Pretty sure he would be ok with you petting him too. She did offer to take ya for a ride after all." He tells her "Brightwind is a pretty good judge of character as well.""

Nightingale has posed:
Shannon nods, and smiles, ducking her head. "First day I got here, miss Munroe cut right past all the other stuff, and just wanted to know the person behind the gifts and the wings. Something like that kind of sticks with you, ya know? Guess that's what I was trying to give to Dani, too."

Cannonball has posed:
Samuel Guthrie nods, and says "It is a good thing get to know the person. Dani has had a lot of changes in her life, but the becoming a valkyrie was a big change for her, and seems things have gotten a bit more hectic over the last year or so.

Nightingale has posed:
Shannon lets out a deep sigh, running her fingers through her hair. "So I -was- reading that right. The winged helmet, the chill in the air... one of the few things I remember about Norse mythology is Valkyries as 'choosers of the slain'." She tilts her head and just smiles. "I wasn't afraid of it, though, not in the least. Don't forget, my dad's an undertaker. Death doesn't frighten me the same way it might some people."

Cannonball has posed:
Samuel Guthrie nods his head a bit and says "Yea, part of her job in asgard was to lead the dead to valhalla " He hmms thinking about something Dani said. "She has always been a strong woman and when she saved Brightwind, and he chose her. She gained a whole new responsibility that she had to figure out.

Nightingale has posed:
Shannon nods. "Guess I can relate to that a little bit. She's got a whole bunch of things she's figuring out, and so do I. But at least none of us have to do that alone."

Cannonball has posed:
Samuel Guthrie smiles and nods his head a bit to this and says "Yup. At times we may forget it but we know down deep that we have our friends and family here to help us.

Nightingale has posed:
Shannon smiles a bit and hugs Sam for just a moment, wrapping her wings around him as well. "Yeah we do. Come on, let's go get that burger... I still don't know the best places around here for that! And if I wind up running into the Captain and Mr. Stark again, I don't want to look like a total idiot!"

Cannonball has posed:
Samuel Guthrie smiles and scoops her up in his arms "Keep your wings tucked in tight." And once she is ready off they go at Sam speed.

Nightingale has posed:
