Seeking the Vishanti
Date of Scene: 14 August 2019
Location: Felicia's Home - Tribeca, Manhattan
Synopsis: Doctor Strange is insulted, but makes a hard decision.
Cast of Characters: Doctor Strange, Loki

Doctor Strange has posed:
Stephen Strange has heard some disturbing news mere minutes ago and is reacting exactly as a man with his powers would. Stephen is sitting down on the floor with his back against Felicia's exquisite couch while she is curled up on the plush cushions. Stephen has waitied for Felicia's breathing to calm and go rythmic letting him know she's asleep.

At that moment, Stephen's mind is hurtling across the multiverse at the speed of thought as he seeks out the masters and creators of his title. The Vishanti. Stephen's soul sears through the cosmos and the dimensions at impossible speeds until he stops abruptly and without any movement, the wizard takes a moment to look around and obvserve his surroundings. "I come answering the Vishanti's summons for the Sorcerer Supreme."

Loki has posed:
Stephen Strange's entry into the torn up Astral Plane causes bends in the reality of it, but that's nothing unusual: It may take decades (centuries?) for the Astral to recover from the pressure it had been through from the Shadow King upending it. Well, it will take time, at least without heroes actively taking hand into trying to restore it, as it is mending itself gradually. As it is, the plane is unstable and both locations and time can get tangled: but that is nothing new.

Still, it seems that the plane can be used to leap distances as needed. And the destination, on arrival, has the telltale pressure of the Vishanti, though they are not welcoming. There is a chilly quality, though it is not directly unfriendly.

"The Vishanti will hear you, Stephen Strange," one of the set of ghostly entities determines mildly. The astral vision of the speaking member of the Vishanti is a pillar of light in this place suddenly, the others more distant. It is, most definitely, Agamotto the All-Seeing.

"Be reminded that further attempts to obscure truth will /not/ impress us, and are destined to fail. We have weighed your recent difficulty in maintaining the mantle of Supreme. The responsibilities have instead fallen to others. We judge you unworthy. What say you?"

Doctor Strange has posed:
"I say that there have been forces acting against me and humanity and my role of protecting humanity from such exterior forces." Stephen says as he steps up towards the All-Seeing and then stops as he realizes what he's doing and decides against it. "I have been failing my duties as the sorcerer supreme." Stephen steps up as the man he is and sighs to himself softly.

Loki has posed:
The pillar of light remains, but another entity cuts in, with a fierce blast of strong green light. Oshtur's hair covers the ambient 'sky' of the plane in the area where they are presenting themselves, her emotional power tinting everything into green. Emotionally charged, she comes in strong, causing the pillar of light to react to her slightly, but not negatively: they are a team, and she has something to assert.

"These forces test and hone you-" begins the pragmatic Aggamotto.

"Excuses? You know what we say is true; but worse, you have given up!" charges Oshtur. "There are forces against you, but also powerful ones on your side!"

The last of the Vishanti unveils, though it mostly stays to the side, observant: a mask of animal like features, with softly burning eyes.

Doctor Strange has posed:
"I have never given up!" Stephen declares, taking another 'step' forward in the realm of the mind that has been undone so tragically. "I have given my very mind for this world." Stephen reiterates, and in this very place no less. The symbolism is not lost on the master of the mystic arts.

"But what am I to do when the very council that created my position deams me unworthy? Am I to lash out as an angry child, or do I suffer further ridicule and humiliation by that very council. Enact your judgement but spare me these insults." Strange requests sternly, he's got other things to do instead of being berated.

Loki has posed:
Oshtur chuckles at Stephen softly, her hair a swirl of green essence. His declaration and movement towards her do not phase the emotional Vishanti in the slightest: perhaps in her way she approves of him and his sacrifice.

Aggamotto seems uninterested and cold about the request, but does not step on the other Vishanti's reactions, at least not yet.

"Our decision, at the outset, WAS a trial," whispers the final Vishanti, Hoggoth, with a glitter of coal through fiery eyes. Aggamotto steps back in verbally, as if the others were not expressing well enough for him: "We accepted an invitation to observe how you interact with others that move consistently to assist you, even to have saved your life from your sacrifice. That you sent another in your guise suggests you are having great difficulty maintaining allegiances on Earth."

"Enough, spare the insults," teases Oshtur, withdrawing partially.

Hoggoth has since climbed the 'ceiling' to observe, the fiery eyes multi-faceted, like an insect. "Lacking the original trial," grumble, "we're give you the chance to step aside, instead of the 'insult' of us continuing with a new trial."

Doctor Strange has posed:
Stephen's eyes burn with an intensity that few have ever seen, his fists clenched tightly against his sides. The wizard gives a sharp nod. "The artifacts inherent to the title will be left within the Sanctum shortly. I am tendering my resignation." Stephen says firmly as he then vanishes from the astral plane, his mind and soul returning to his body without any pomp or circumstance. No sign of the great change within the world. Stephen stands on his feet, looking down to Felicia's sleeping form and with a sigh, he unclasps the Eye of Agamotto from his neck and summons the cloak to his side where he places the amulet over the collar and then banishes the cloak back to the Sanctum for the next Sorcerer Supreme to wield. And with a defeated sigh, Stephen Strange is once again, just a man.

Loki has posed:
There was a lot more the Vishanti could have said. It doesn't seem necessary. The die is cast.

As the sanctum opens and adapts to Strange's sudden declaration, there's a mage that's very ready for it.

"I'll be redecorating," Loki Odinson observes slyly to the floating cloak in the sanctum, as he crosses the unguarded threshold. "The locks, at the /very/ least," the previously 'sanctum banished' god observes.
