Ready for Patrol
Date of Scene: 08 August 2019
Location: Batcave - Wayne Manor
Synopsis: Dick catches Stephanie before they are about to go on patrol.
Cast of Characters: Spoiler, Nightwing

Spoiler has posed:
The date is early August. Stephanie has on her Spoiler costume, minus the headwear. She's back from injuries and cleared for patrol again. Tonight finds her at the Batcomputer, going over her patrol route and looking for anything in particular to keep an eye on.

"Construction on 5th, should have traffic around there light. Might be worth an extra look in case someone wants to use fewer eyes to rip off anything," she comments. Stephanie flips forward through the information.

"Oooh, the new WayneTech tablet is launching this week," she says. "There will be people sitting in line outside the electronics shop for that. Always fun to watch them. Such goobers," she says, chuckling. Damn she'd love one of those new tablets herself. Lucky bastards.

Nightwing has posed:
Grayson looks up from his new WayneTech Tablet from where he's been leaning against a nearby railing. In costume. Sans mask. His crystaline blue eyes peer up at Steph when she speaks about the construction on 5th. His lips pull terse, but he gives a faint nod of his head. "I'll reroute my patrol to make sure I'm keeping a better eye on it. I'll also keep a ping, so if anything looks untoward, it'll feed through the computer to me."

lifting himself from his perch, he strides across to where Steph sits, and places the tablet down on the countertop, so that he can instead occupy his hands on her shoulders, giving a firm kneading, as he peers over the top of her head. Teasingly, he jests, "Goobers? Only goobers use words like Goobers."

Spoiler has posed:
The shoulder rub more than makes up for the Wayne son showing off the tablet. "I never claimed I... ohhhhh... wasn't one," Stephanie tells him, her eyelids hooding half closed as she enjoys the shoulder rub. "I'm going to be tempted to swing over to the west, you know," Stephanie tells him. That would bring her over into his own patrol area. "But I'll be good tonight."

She has been very good for awhile. Training ridiculous hard, using as much time for it as she can manage while school is not going on. That won't be the case for long, classes starting later in the week. "Have time later to go over the chemistry of the flashbangs with me again? I tried making some but I think my mix is off," she tells him. Since she got the upgraded equipment belt, she's worked hard to get better with it, and also understand how it is made.

Nightwing has posed:
"Yeah, well... If you weren't a goober, we wouldn't be here, I guess. So I can't complain too much," Grayson replies, his voice dropping to something warm and tender. Leaning down, he rests his chin atop her crown. "After all, you're my goober."

His fingers give one last firm squeeze, his thumbs rolling against the back of her neck, just under where it meets her skull. His eyes still peer at the computer screen, though he does dip his chin to push his nose and lips into her blonde hair, before he rises back up to his full height. One hand drops from her shoulder, reaching forward to tap his blue and black fingertips against the keyboard, deftly maneuvering the cursor around without the use of the mouse, and drawing up the schematics for flashbangs on the screen.

"All you need really is just magnesium or aluminum and an oxidizer. Potassium nitrate is easier to get. The ratios are always kind of tricky, though. I can never really remember, so I just call on this all the time."

Spoiler has posed:
Stephanie Brown's face can't quite contain how it makes her feel to hear those claiming words. The smile spreads her lips wide and results in a radiant look tries to beam up to Dick, though his chin is atop her head so she can't quite aim it there yet.

Stephanie smiles at the kiss into her hair, but moves her eyes back to the screen as he pulls it up. "I must have the amounts off," she says with a frown. "I either got fizzle... or lots of flash but not enough bang," she replies. She reaches her hand over to rest on his arm, fingers brushing softly overtop of his uniform.

"Well, I'll give it another try later. Ok if I come by for a late dinner after we're done tonight?" she asks. "I could pick up something from that Indian place that just opened. I think they are open until 2 am."

Nightwing has posed:
"Right. Mix it off, and you get a pretty good sparkler, though!" Grayson replies, as he strides around her seat and takes up the tablet and rests it in his lap while he settles onto the surface it had previously resided on. Facing Stephanie, the young vigilante looks thoughtful. School is about to start back up, which he is aware of. Their time has been scarce as of late, due to her training, his own workload, and other things. "Why not just pack an overnight bag. I'll cook for you. Have dinner ready for you when you get to my place. Unless you really have your heart set on Indian, at least."

Spoiler has posed:
Stephanie flashes a smile over to Dick. "Well. I mean, if you /really/ wanted to go to that much trouble for me," she tells him warmly. "I'd offer to pick up a bottle of wine, but a few more days until I'm 21," she tells him. Her birthday is only a week or so away, on August 11th. "But I can pick up some dessert at least on the way," she offers.

Stephanie rises from the chair in front of the Batcomputer but only to sit on the edge of the console and face Dick. "So things have been working out well with the job that Tim offered me. Buying up superhero collectibles and souvenirs for his museum he's trying to put together? It's mostly based on how much below value I can get things. But I'm doing a decent job of it now I'm starting to get a feel for what things should go for. Enough that I'm going to be able to pay for school this semester," she says.

Nightwing has posed:
"Just a few more," Dick says. It seems he has remembered her birthday coming up, and judging by the smile on his face, he had already made some small plans for it. "I've got beer at home. I can pick you up something, if you want anything in particular. I know my usual drink selection isn't for everyone."

Read: His drink selection is only for people who basically live in a gym and have convinced themselves of the cult mentality that drinking battery acid and liquid grass is tasty.

When she sits near him, and begins to speak, he sets the tablet aside and looks to her. A small, warm smile plays on his features as she speaks of her work with Tim, and he gives a nod of his head, listening intently. He leans to the side, away from her, so that he's sort of looking down towards her, while also reaching out to rest his hand atop hers. "I'm glad you're able to make ends meet. I knew you'd be awesome at it. Stephanie Brown, you're an amazing person, and there is literally nothing that I'll believe you cannot do if you just set your mind to it. But, if you do find yourself needing money... I'm not TOTALLY adverse to playing Sugar Daddy."

A wink, and he flashes a vibrant grin. Softer, he adds, "I'm proud of you. Very proud. And grateful for you. Remember that always, okay?"

Spoiler has posed:
The blond college students can't suppress her smiles, nor does she try, as Dick says these things to her. Compliments and praise were always something received so sparingly in her life. It won't take someone with Dick's master of reading others to see just how much his words mean to her. "Dick, I appreciate that so much," she tells him, and that little wink and grin of his bring out a laughing smile of her own.

"I don't think you'd think this, us, has anything to do with your family wealth. But still I'd feel better if I can show I can earn my way," she tells him. "I don't want you to ever have reason to doubt this isn't about you are as a person to me." She moves closer and slips her arms around him for a hug, only wishing it wasn't with both of them having body armor on. She keeps it short though in case someone else comes in to get ready for their patrols. "So I'm probably going to start tracking down Julia Stockholm. Could use your help when I do. Consider it a training exercise maybe?" she says.

Totally not a training exercise. Very personal.
