Sisterhood of the Traveling Dadneto-Fortress
Date of Scene: 16 August 2019
Location: Wanda's Room, Avengers Mansion
Synopsis: Lorna comes by with an update on Magneto's plans. Wanda and Josh try to get her to relax while they brainstorm.
Cast of Characters: Scarlet Witch, Polaris, Elixir

Scarlet Witch has posed:
Wanda is hard at work at some things on one of the larger desks. Some experimentation with Hook, though nothing that needed the lab. Just a little steady attention for the long-term experiment. There is a circle drawn around the sample on the desk with a combination of salt, chalk, and some other substances that hopefully buff out of the desk when done.

Wanda looks up as she hears the door. "I'll get it," she tells Josh. Jarvis had noted the arrival of Wanda's sister so she was doubly expected. Wanda moves over to open the door and greet the green-haired mutant. "Lorna, there you are," she says, offering a quick and gentle hug before making way for Lorna to come inside. "Was just working on Hook. I'll soon be taking a team away to do research on it," she comments, though her lips curl in a distasteful way for the very subject of the drug. Plus that she can sense it just having it in the room.

Yuck.

Polaris has posed:
Lorna was a little worse for wear, her eyes were ringed with dark circles from a lack of sleep. Though she'd at least made an attempt to clean herself up before visiting her sister. Her green hair was swept back into a low, ponytail and she wore a simple black tank-top and pair of jeans. Wanda's embrace was returned with a slow lean to Lorna's figure, as if the younger of the two was just too tired to stand up straight. Still, she lets go and finds the nearest chair as she glanced around once about the room with a distracted manner.

"Wanda. We need to talk about father." She breathed, and roughly exhaled as she settled her forearms on either of her thighs and she leaned forward.

Elixir has posed:
Josh looks up, smiles, and gets up to say. His expression changes to one more of concern when he notices her state.

"Hey Lorna," Josh sneaks in after the green haired woman sits down. "Coffee or something stronger?" he offers, heading to the kitchen. He comes back with something for each of the ladies then folds up his books on the coffee table to get them out of the way.

Scarlet Witch has posed:
Stays near to Lorna, not like she needs the assistance getting to the chair, but a sisterly show of concern. The offers of beverages from Josh gets a grateful smile from the auburn-haired woman. "Appreciate it," she tells him softly, though her eyes are quickly back to Lorna as Wanda moves to take a seat on the couch next to Lorna's chair.

"I am anxious to hear more, though you don't look like it is a visit to share good news," Wanda says in her typically slow and gentle delivery. "I decided it might be best to stay clear for now. Figuring the likes of you and Steve Rogers could accomplish as much as I, without great the kind of difficulties for the team that my inclusion might,' she says quietly.

Wanda sits back in the couch, crossing a leg over the other but expression concerned. "How is he? What has his state of mind been with the latest developments?"

Polaris has posed:
Lorna exhaled a breath as she nodded toward Josh, "Coffee. Espresso. Whatever you have that'll keep me going for another handful of hours.." She sighed and her focus returned to Wanda full force as Josh left to grab drinks in the kitchen. Her green eyes narrowed faintly, and her lips pursed together into a thin line.

"Father has abandoned Genosha. Aquaman threatened the island, and all but swore to me that he'd invade and overthrow father if anything further happened. That was after the missiles by the way." She muttered, her voice clipped and thick with irritation.

"Moreover when I tried to tell father, and begged him to come back to Genosha he refused. He's abandoned the country, his duties, his people. All for his stupid freaking crusade. Like he always does. He doesn't care that Trask has an arrest warrant. He doesn't care that others are willing to make sure that man never hurt anyone again. He wants blood Wanda. Father doesn't care about anything besides that." She was up and pacing as she spoke, her voice growing more impassioned and on edge as she paced up and down the area around the couch as if she couldn't sit still.

"He's abandoned everything he's worked for and he's left Genosha defenseless! He told me to put my hand on some computer sensor if Genosha was truly in danger and I have no clue what it even does!"

Elixir has posed:
Lorna's coffee is left on the low table by the couch. He listens unobstrusively, giving Lorna some kind of space. But when she explains Magneto has just... Abandoned his family and people. He stares at Lorna with a mixture of disgust, bitterness and sympathy at what she had to say.

Josh leans back on couch and keeps quiet.

Scarlet Witch has posed:
Wanda gives Josh a grateful look as he brings the coffee over, though her attention is otherwise focused solely on Lorna for now. The woman sits quietly in thought as if digesting what Lorna has said. "He's always seen the needs of mutants as a whole as his first priority. I cannot say this surprises me very much," she says quietly. "And Genosha is not defenseless without him there, by any means. But yes the matter is troubling," Wanda says as she watches Lorna rise to pace.

"We need to keep talking to him. We finally have a favorable bit of world outlook our way. Squandering it would be... foolish. Hopefully he can come around to see that," Wanda says, more thinking aloud than planning. "I can try to speak to him, but I've been worried it could lead to trouble if I was seen to be working with him in some fashion," she says.

Polaris has posed:
Lorna paced, up and down, hardly noticing the coffee that Josh had brought. She crossed her arms as she moved, furious in the way her temper sparked and heated her movements. Her hair lifted upward in a draft of magnetic current that bloomed to life unnoticed around her, and she still continued to pace in anger. "Genosha isn't going to withstand an attack from all sides from the ocean, Wanda. Aquaman made that perfectly clear. And last time I checked, Genosha has no allies. Zip. None. Nada. No one wants to be allied with Genosha because of father!" She hissed, though she deflated slightly as her gaze swung back to view her sister.

The way that Wanda spoke, the way worried over how others would see her involvement and she mentally kicked herself for having come in the first place.

"I.. I'll go to to the Fortress myself and rip control away from him if I have to. Don't... don't get involved.. I shouldn't have bothered coming and unloading on you."

Elixir has posed:
Josh sits up despite himself, a man with his heart ever on his sleeve.

"Whoa, hey, Lorna..." he says concerned. "You can't go in there on your own. I mean..."

Josh looks to Wanda.

Scarlet Witch has posed:
Wanda gives a quick shake of her head. "No, I don't think that is the way either, Lorna," Wanda says, looking to Josh and nodding her support to what he is saying. "There hasn't been violence yet on his part. We need to try to make sure that doesn't happen and resolve it peacefully. Having a war between you two over the place could just lead to more issues. The military will already be on alert. Erratic behavior will just increase the risk, I should think."

Wanda sits back, steepling her fingers as she thinks. "I could go to him. It isn't like I can't get into the fortress unseen. So long as word from anyone inside isn't spread," she says. "I don't know if I can convince him either. You're the closest with him. But I'm willing to try if that's what it takes to avert worse. Perhaps take Steve back with me," she suggests.

Polaris has posed:
Lorna's jaw clenched and she hissed out a breath as she looked back to Josh, her lips parting in a half silent snarl. "Why not? I can find it with my eyes closed. He puts out enough magnetic power that he might as well be another pole on the planet." She muttered, and seemed to struggle with her anger, her lack of sleep, the worry and everything else that gnawed at her insides, never halting since her father had left Genosha.

"Wanda. No. You're not going. You can't risk it. People trust you, and you have to maintain that. You're not going." She pursed her lips and twisted about on her heels as she combed her hands through her hair, squeezing her eyes shut. "I should never have come here. This was stupid. I've failed at every turn. I couldn't convince him to come back. I thought I had convinced him to not leave Genosha. What the hell do I know, right?" She snorted with bitterness lacing each word. And it was clear that she was emotionally unraveling.

Elixir has posed:
Josh puts up his hands to forestall the sudden anger.

"Oh, hey, Lorna, nobody's saying you're doing anything wrong. This just sounds like one of Scott's asshat scenarios. You do /everything/ right, best you can, and sometimes it's still shitty," Josh says sincerely.

"Doesn't mean you're not doing it right. But like, let us help you.... Don't put the only sane person your country's got going for it at risk, you know? They can get by without your dad, but from what I've heard? They'd be fucked without you if things went sideways..."

Scarlet Witch has posed:
Wanda rises slowly from her seat. Her expression makes it clear enough she agrees with Josh's assertion about how much Lorna means to Genosha. Wanda moves over to her sister slowly. "Let me suggest a different approach," Wanda says. She motions over towards the bathroom door.

"In there is the most amazing jacuzzi tub that you could wish for. I suggest you should go and use it. Have Jarvis play some music. We'll stay here while you soak until your fingers are prunes and you can't hardly stand up straight for how relaxed your muscles and spine are," Wanda says, giving Lorna a soft, winning grin as she says that.

"And when you're good and relaxed. And thinking clearly. You come back out and we'll all have dinner together. And we can brainstorm how to improve the situation. But you're frazzled and tense right now," Wanda tells her sister. "We can see it, from the moment you arrived. This isn't going to help you come up with something, trying to deal with it while you are this out of balance yourself."

Polaris has posed:
Lorna's hair halo'ed her features in waves of green as the magnetic forces held it aloft in a floating current of polarities. She seemed to struggle internally with her emotions at the sight of Josh's raised hands, even as her anger bubbled up, hot and heady. All of which was mixed with hurt, and guilt in a toxic torrent that threatened to overwhelm her.

Whatever she was going to say fell short at Josh's words and her hands dropped from tangling in her hand to fall back at her sides. Her green eyed gaze swung back to Wanda, and she hung her head, deflating even further. "I don't have time for dinner.." She muttered, shuffling along under Wanda's directions toward the bathroom.
