Nerding Out
Date of Scene: 22 August 2019
Location: Operations, The Nest
Synopsis: Fiona, Kate and Canary are sitting around, talking in the Nest
Cast of Characters: Batwoman, Fiona Glenanne, Black Canary

Batwoman has posed:
Kate Kane is still doing some exploration in the new Nest. It's a marvel how the Shadow has managed to mask an entire warehouse from the city's memory, providing a safe place for the Birds while being right in the thick of Old Gotham. Right now Batwoman has removed her cowl and wig, both set carefully upon one of the tables. Clad in the black suit with the red-black cape, she is experimenting with the holo display controls.

Fiona Glenanne has posed:
The door opens as Fiona Glenanne, tech maverick and former bomb maker, strolls in closing the door behind her with a smile. "I like....oh hey" she says with a wave, "Didn't think anyone'd be in here at this hour. So what's going on?" she asks, leaning on the wall for a moment to pocket her phone, then coming over toward the table. One pace at a time, Fi looks amused, taking in the operations room, and zderoing in on the holo display controls. "You' think there'd be a manual for that" Fi jokes, not touching them...yet. She's nott wanting to get into batwoman's personal space. Or mess up the holo display. Explaining that one would be interesting. So Fi just watches, stood a few paces back with a curious gaze, she's like a kid at Christmas. A nerdy, tech geek, wrench wench kid who can make things, that is. "I wonder" Fi says. Which is usually code for 'run away, Fiona is getting ideas', though she's got her hands at her sides. "I wonder what else we got tech wise here?" she adds, not quite acting on her ideas...yet.

Batwoman has posed:
Kate continues fiddling with the controls, bringing up various downtown buildings on the holo. "I think there is, actually. I'd just rather do things this way. Pushing a couple buttons to bring up a 3D image of Old Gotham, Kate turns to look over at Fiona. "You know me as Batwoman, but feel free to call me Kate in here." Yeah, her face is familiar enough from the tabloids as well. "So you've seen the garage?"

Fiona Glenanne has posed:
ii grins, "Kate. Batwoman. See, you're a natural with that" she says waving to the holo display. "My expertise is in tinkering and things. If I touch those controls it'll probably go in a circle for an hour straight" she jokes. "I mean, I can barely get my email some days. All this computer stuff is not what I'm good at. I can build them. Don't ask me to use 'em" Fi grins, offering a hand. "Fiona, Fi Glenanne"

With that Fiona grins. "Kate. Batwoman, whatever I call you in here, I got your back if you need anything gadget related. Huntress has got me working on her crossbow, so just let me know if I can do anything for you?" she asks with a gleam in her eye.

Batwoman has posed:
Kate Kane shrugs on the subject of the holo, offering a red-lipped smile. "Thanks, Fi." she replies. "I'm a soldier, which means I take the time to become familiar with my gear. And my support gear. But I'm certainly no Oracle."

Stepping away from the holo, she puts a gloved hand on her hip. "Most of my tech is pretty standard, all in all. Military grade, but standard."

"Except for the suit. I use a special spray coating instead of armor. Non-newtonian fluid that reacts to high-velocity objects. You can cut it with a blade, but it'll stop small-caliber bullets."

Fiona Glenanne has posed:
Fi grins, "Good to know" she says and raises an eyebrow at the spray. "Now that's neat, and useful" Fi grins and gently touches the holo controls slowly getting used to them, she's panning around Old Gotham and, like Kate, bringing up buildings. She picks out a park and zooms in, then back out to pull up more buildings. "Hey, this is easier than I thought?" Fi says and leaves well alone. She's got the hang of the basics, true. She'll leave it to the experts in the heat of the moment mind...

Nodding to Kate, Fi laughs, "See, I like you already, you are fun and I've only just met you" Fiona says, glancing from Kate to the holo display then back to Kate again.

Batwoman has posed:
"It's also somewhat toxic." she offers casually. But hey, it's military. "So tell me what sort of customizing you do, Fi? I'm one of the few Bats who isn't vehemently opposed to guns, for starters. Although I save them as a last resort." The redhead looks thoughtful, then. "I don't suppose you work on motorcycles, do you? The're fairly common with the girls on this team."

Fiona Glenanne has posed:
Fi tilts her head and wrinkles her nose at 'toxicc'. "Ah, I can customize most things, Huntress has got me making her crossbow things, I can take a gun, annd figure it out, then work on what you want me to do. If you wanted a sight on a gun, that'd be easy, snap into place. If you want me to build you a whole new Batarang launcher, I could do that if I can get my hands on the schematics" Fiona carries on, and she raises an eyebrow at the motorcycle question. "Yes, I do cars, I can pick up bikes very very quickly, it's a lot of the same skills." she says brightly. "Bikes are common, good. I used them in Ireland, they're more manoeuvrable really" Fiona admits with a shrug. "Cars, good for carrying stuff. Bikes? Better for getting places" she says. Explaining things is great really, Fi takes a loook around for somewhere, anywhere, to sit.

Batwoman has posed:
Kate leans her butt against one of the consoles, arms folding over her chest while she chats with Fi. "My bike is pretty much stock. A high-end Ducati racer, but still stock. Some of the girls have custom bikes, and I think Canary built her own from scratch." She considers, then, a hand dropping casually to her utility belt. "But most of my gear comes straight out of Batman's playbook, if not necessarily out of his inventory."

Fiona Glenanne has posed:
Fi arches abrow at the comment about Canary building her own bike. "Impressive" she says with a nod watching Kate again. "See, we're all good at different things. I tinker, you borrow Batman's gear, Canary builds bikes....did we miss any between us?" she smiles leaning against a nearby wall watching the whole room.

Looking around Fi turns her gaze back to Kate. "I doubt I can do much with Batman's technology can I? Now I said that, watch me figure it out. Knowing my luck it'll be easier than I think, yeah?" she adds loosening up. "See, we got this between us, don't we?" she adds with a glance to the holo display.

Black Canary has posed:
Leaning against the doorway, Dinah seems amused."Yup. It's a total franken-bike. But it'll beat any stock racing bike in the quarter mile." Pushing off with her shoulder, the blonde walks in with a smile and a nod. "Fiona. Kate." She slows on nearing them. "Quiet day, then? Or is discussing our taste in bikes the assignment of the day?"

Batwoman has posed:
Kate Kane smirks, thumb tapping her utility belt while she leans against the console. "Hiya, Blondie." she offers to Dinah. "And for the record, Fi, I don't borrow Batman's gear. I have my own, that just happens to be based off of his. But I'm a soldier; West Point and some Spec Ops training. This isn't just a hobby for me, it's War."

Fiona Glenanne has posed:
"I'm the odd one out" Fiona shrugs, "I need a bike, I'll ake one of our stock ones whenever I need it" she says then nods to Dinah. "Hey, Frankenbike. Mind handing over the schematics so we can build some for all of us?" she adds with a hopeful grin looking over to Dinah then Kate again. "I'm not a soldier. I did my time with....ahem...questionable people. I do my thing now and make ends meet" she adds being deliberately vague and a smile ghosts her lips. "Tinkering is a great way to distract myself and fuel my curiosity too. It's like, well, that console, If I ever get into it, I'm liable to want to figure out what things do. Or just take notes, seal it back up, and see if I can work that into something small. Like Huntress for example, She asked me to look into crossbow bolts for her. I could" Fi adds checking the utility belt out with a look, "THink on it, come up with things for you, or help with that Frankenbike" she says with a nod to Dinah. "Door's always open, just let me know what you're after" Fi grins wider.

Black Canary has posed:
Dinah Drake laughs and nods. "I'm not against input or ideas. But my bike's only ever been worked on by me. It's kind of my own little Bonsai tree. But I'd be happy to give you a hand building or just designing one of your own." She looks to Kate, "It's always war. Life is always a struggle." She leans against one of the other consoles. "I'm sure Huntress would be pleased to have some new bolts in her arsenal, yeah. If you're good with ammunition, sounds like a great project, yeah?"

Fiona Glenanne has posed:
Fi laughs, "So you get your gear from the same source?" she asks Kate then looks over to Dinah. "Well, how about if I explain what I'm after and we hash this out in the workshop?" Fi asks with a smirk. "You built bikes. You play music. You do it a bit of everything, don't you?" Fi jokes. "I'm envious of your hat collection, mhmm" she adds with a smirk. "I just got a few hats. I need....hmm, a few more. Okay, plenty more hats, I left a lot behind. Good thing" Fi adds again leaning on the consonsole again as she looks from Dinah to Kate again, then spreads her arms. "I'm good at a lot of things. Great at a few things. I'm just Fiona after all" she says with a slow nod.

Batwoman has posed:
Kate Kane shrugs at Fi's question, offering a cryptic smile as well. "The most important thing we need right now is a street presence. Oracle told me we've got a couple of green recruits, plus one or two possibles. That means we not only need to do our regular jobs, but we need to watch after the plebes as well. Can't have any of our recruits becoming casualties. Or hostages."

Black Canary has posed:
Dinah Drake smiles winningly at Fiona, "True, but don't forget, I'm also a galactic space cop." A wink and grin. She looks to Kate, "Green isn't a good color for any of us not codenamed Oracle. But I'll be happy to lend a hand with qualifying any of the new kids where I can." She then nods back to Fiona. "Sounds like a good plan. We'll get you a bike designed and built in no time. If we need any special parts we can just steal them from any of the street racing gangs in town." A wicked grin.
