Explanations of the Speed Force
Date of Scene: 28 August 2019
Location: Future Solutions - Main Lab
Synopsis: Impulse comes to Future Solutions to get answers from Harrison
Cast of Characters: Professor Zoom, Impulse

Professor Zoom has posed:
It's been a few days since Harrison has had Future Solutions vacated of all SHIELD personnel. Luckily, the chamber Gideon is in has serious concealment technology behind it, so no one even came close to finding her. Harrison had managed to get the Speed Force lab as the only place in the building as having a warrant applying to it... the others were not very relevant, after all.

On a curious note, the Doombot left almost right after their escape, as well. Very interesting, that.

Now, Director Wells was on his way from his office to the Speed Force lab, white lab coat and various supplies on his body, his Reverse-Flash ring inside his coat pocket as usual.

Impulse has posed:
Impulse's finally been given a clear bill of health himself, the teenager having spent several days in the infirmary of Shield HQ. Finally freed he decides to check on two things, first the well being of his fellow captive, and second some questions that have cropped up from his last encounter with Zoom.

Making his way cross country it takes him /hours/ as the jeans and hoodie he's wearing along with orange wrap around safety goggles can't handle anything faster, but finally He's outside Future Solutions peering in through the front doors before sticking his head in. "Hi, uhh, can I come in?" he asks what ever secretary or security guard there is at the front door.

Professor Zoom has posed:
The front of the building is bare of any human guards... but there is definitely a camera outside along with an intercom on the door. He security office for the building clicks on the transceiver on Harrison's ear, and he stops. "Director, we have someone at the front door. No appointment, no uniform."

The news has Harrison frown, and he starts to head for the security hub. "Pull up the camera for me, James." Harrison asks.

Once inside, he glances at the camera at the newcomer. "He asked to come in a few moments ago." James says. There's a moment of silence, before Harrison hits the intercom button for the front door. "Hello young man. Who are you, and why have you shown up without an appointment?" Comes the voice of Harrison from the intercom, "Press the green button."

Impulse has posed:
Impulse presses the button with one hand whle pulling his hoodie back with the other, the teens familiar face from his weeks in capitivity with the doctor showing. "It's Impulse, and I have some questions for you." the teen replies before pulling his hoodie back up.

Professor Zoom has posed:
It was expected, of course. Harrison had thought it might be a week before he showed up. Apparently, he was more impatient than usually considered.

"Go ahead and let him in, James. I doubt any security we put on him would help, so just open the door." Harrison states, before he's hitting the intercom again, "Come on in." Right on cue, the door 'buzzes', signifying the door is 'open.'.

Harrison comes out into the center of the hallway junction, waiting for him.

Impulse has posed:
Impulse makes his way on into the building, both hands once more slipping into the front pocket of his hoodie as he moves down the hallway. "Glad to see you made it home all in one piece Doctor." he says with sincerity.

Professor Zoom has posed:
"That man in that yellow suit left me in Manhatten without a word." Harrison explains to Impulse. "Just came in, one second I was in Latveria. A few seconds later, and 'poof' Manhatten." He shrugs. "The bot was gone too, but I assume it was recalled or something."

He smiles, "So, what can I do for you, young man?"

Impulse has posed:
Impulse nods. "I've read up about you a bit." he says having used the ludecrously slow tablets that he could use at Shield while bed ridden. "You're this era's formost expert on The Speed Force. Have you ever heard of something called The Negative Speed Force?" he asks curiously.

Professor Zoom has posed:
"This Era...?" Harrison says softly. "I'm getting the impression you're talking about time travel." It's a half statement-half question. "I've theorized something like that was possible given the way the energy seems to react to it's surroundings. There's a certainly polarity to the Speed Force, in my estimation... but I've never had anyone to test that theory with."

Impulse has posed:
Impulse nods and shrugs. "Guy in the yellow Suit is Zoom, one of the Flashes enemies, he's from four or five hundred years in the future, I'm from a little bit after that." The teenager explains."I don't know how he got back here, mine was a bit of a mistake." he explains "So, what theory is this?" he asks curiously.

Professor Zoom has posed:
Harrison turns and starts to head to the Speed Force lab, a non-verbal hand gestures to him to follow, his hands going into his lab pockets as he goes. "Well, we have flying aliens, speedsters, literal gods, droids and machines, and all kind of incredibly smart people on our planet. What's time travel in comparison?" Harrison notes aloud as he starts to enter the passcode for the Speed Force lab.

"So, young man... do you like it here?" Here probably meaning this era.

Impulse has posed:
Impulse shrugs. "I don't dislike it. I got to meet my paternal Grandfather and you've got Big Belly Burger. I didn't know how tasty beef was! Definately gotta make sure they don't go extinct in this Timeline." he comments with a grin. "The Science is kinda boring in this era, havn't been able to find a school I could go to that wouldn't be things I learned before I was eight." he adds wakling along with the Doctor into the Speed Lab.

Professor Zoom has posed:
"Boring is one way to put it." Being driven insane by idiots is another way to put it.

The door opens, and Harrison steps inside. "So, this Negative Speed Force... why do you ask about it?" As the two enter, the security door automatically closes, and Impulse will see the various instruments... including what is probably a prequel version of a cosmic treadmill.

Impulse has posed:
"Zoom said I was channeling it, and expressed his surprise that I still had all my inside parts on the inside. That's left me with a concern." The teen explains licking his lips and running a hand through his hair. "I was hoping you might have heard about something like this before, or might know what it means." he explains.

Professor Zoom has posed:
"I've only theorized about it." Harrison notes. "If I were to speculate.... perhaps there's something about this other Speed Force that is corrosive in certain ways?" Harrison moves over to one of the consoles, and begins typing, "You do seem to have two different forms of energy coming off you as byproducts of your speed." Harrison points out.

Impulse has posed:
Impulse nods. "want me to.. well.. run?" he asks motioning to the pesuo-cosmic treadmill, something he's familiar with in his own timeline having used it to cure his rapid aging. "My Dad and the scientists in the facility I grew up in could see something about it too, but they didn't kno what it was, just that it was having a negative effect on me. I'm actually only 5 years old chronologically." he explains..

Professor Zoom has posed:
"The Speed Force is all kinds of weird and physics breaking. I'm not surprised your age was affected too." Harrison muses, before he turns to another console, and types. There's the thrum of power that gets higher in pitch, before the treadmill lights turn on. "If you'd like. I can see what's going on inside you to a point, as a speedster."

Impulse has posed:
Impulse nods, taking off his hoodie and slipping out of the jeans, his uniform is gone and in it's place is a spandex runners outfit tight enough to be covered by his speed force Aura. With a flash of lightning and a crack of thunder Impulse gets on the treadmill. "How fast do you want me to go doctor?" he asks

Professor Zoom has posed:
"Mach 10 is a good starter." Harrison offers, before he types some more. "I haven't actually tested this on a speedster yet. I built it in case we ever managed to convince a speedster to go through examination." Technically true. He just hasn't tested it on anyone but himself.

"We'll go up in increments until we see how well it stress tests." Harrison continues, watching the monitor.

Impulse has posed:
Impulse nods. "I'm not as fast as my. " he pauses almost saying something he shouldn't "As The Flash. Just so you know." he calls out looking around for the speed display before once found he picks up the speed the whirring of the treadmill picking up in intensity.

Professor Zoom has posed:
"Right... I see what he was talking about. There's something going on with your cellular structure." Harrison explains, before he types a bit more, "Speed up to mach 20, I think we'll see a more pronounced reaction around there."

Impulse has posed:
Impulse picks up the pace as he's asked, the store bought glasses not doing enough to hide the tell tale glowing red of his eyes . What Harrison will see though is the Negative Speed Force Energy doens't seem to spike along with the additional useage of the Speed Force, what ever it empowers within the teen isn't directly linked to his speed, at least not yet..

Professor Zoom has posed:
"You can stop now." Harrison orders as he types, "Come over here, I need to show you something."

Impulse has posed:
One moment Impulse is on the treadmill, the next he's beside Dr. Wells "What's up Doc?" he asks curiously not even out of breath.

Professor Zoom has posed:
Given the forces in play, Harrison doesn't show any surprise to that.

Instead, he points at the flat screen in front of him. "Take a look at this." Harrison point to a video playback of the readings coming from the treadmill monitor. "Look at this. Two distinct forms of energy being absorbed by your body, almost complete opposites, but they tend to cancel each other out more than anything."

A few more keystrokes, and a video of Impulse from the front shows up, "And the eyes. I don't recall seeing the Flash in any videos with those glows."

Impulse has posed:
Impulse shakes his head "nope, I'm the first in the family to have them do that, has something to do with an ancestor of mine and from what I'm figuring out here I think that ancestor had a connection to this negative Speed force." he explains looking over the display and reading it's output. "I want to try something, you tell me if your sensors detect anything." he says as he starts to move a few feet side to side, clearly moving from one place to another til suddenly there's two of Impulse, the second Impulse having a bit of a photo negative quality to itself as it slips down and onto the treadmill running at mach 10 just like Impulse started at.

Dr. Wells will find that the duplicate, while fully physical in nature, is neither a temporal clone, nor a speed clone of Impulse just running between two places incredibly quickly, but a full on duplicate construct made entirely out of The Negative Speed Force..

Professor Zoom has posed:
"I don't know what that is, but I'm getting that opposite polarity effect from it." Harrison explains, pointing to the screen.

Impulse has posed:
Impulse nods "that's something I've been able to do since I came back to this era. I sometimes feel queasy and very tired afterwards." he explains the clone quickly rejoining with the originator leaving just one Impulse again in the lab.
