Synopsis: Vorpal finds Beast Boy deep in his thoughts, deep in Titans Tower.
Cast of Characters: Beast Boy, 87

Beast Boy has posed:
Down in the basement of Titans Tower, there are pathways for members to access the hangar or the sub. Yes, they have a sub! But, that's not the only purpose for the area underground. Yes, there's a sizable enough storage area, which will surely be got into with Halloween just a couple months away, but it's also ended up a sort of dumping ground for forgotten things.

Once in a while, Gar comes down here to sit and reminisce about a mission or someone he worked with at one time. People come and go, off doing their own things from time to time. He has as well, so this is a good way to reconnect with the past while thinking about the future.

More than that, is the cavern with the memorials to fallen teammates and friends. Some Beast Boy knew, some he didn't, but today he can be found in costume, walking amongst the displays, silent with his thoughts. Hands are clasped in back as he reads over the information for each and every person. He's done it before, but each time is like the first time again.

Vorpal (87) has posed:
Vorpal is inmemasurably fortuate for a vigilante. So far, he has not had to mourn the death of a friend. He is aware that this is a very privileged position to be in, and one he hopes never changes... but he knows it is futile to hope for such things in this kind of life.

He does not come here often- he finds it unsettling, but he does know that when he knows Gar is in the building and can't be found anywhere else, he is either doing laps in the pool as a dolphin... or here.

He's not in costume. It's too early, still, for that, as he often patrols at night in the summer because the heat is too intense during the day. In a tank-top and blue jeans, he almost looks a little too informal for the setting. He pads quietly towards the green Titan when he spots him, joining him at the site of one of the memorials.

"Hey, there."

Beast Boy has posed:
The solitude down here can work as an escape, a way to clear some thoughts, but it can lead to others creeping in as memories are pulled up. So lost in them at the moment, Beast Boy jumps slightly in place when Vorpal's voice is heard. "Huh? Oh. Tommy. Hey." Each word comes out almost in staccato, a brief smile passing over him as he quickly wipes something away from an eye. Just some dust, right?

"I was just doing some thinking," he adds by way of an unsolicited explanation. "Remembering." The hands move to hang at his sides, just dangling. "How are you?" wonders, brows lifting with the question.

Vorpal (87) has posed:
Tommy doesn't react to much to Gar's explanation, except to nod a little. He may be occasionally clueless, but he does have his moments where he knows when to be understated. He doesn't take Gar's hand as he normally would, or lean over to kiss him. His closeness is intimate, but also as tactful as possible. "I am doing alright. I happened to get hungry and I started wondering where my favorite lunch date was."

The Cheshire gives him a careful look, "How are you doing?

Beast Boy has posed:
"Wellll, I.." There's a hint of color in Gar's cheeks at the mention of 'favorite lunch date,' which causes him to grin again in a more boyish manner. Is that a hint of shyness? It might just be. "Brat," he accuses, nudging at Vorpal's side with a hip-bump before looking up at the memorial they're in front of.

"I'm a little hungry, too. I guess I lost track of time. I was thinking about some stuff, and I haven't heard anything more yet on those auditions but I got an e-mail about some kind of cameo stuff in some music videos, and did you see that thing from Selina Kyle that she's doing with Bruce Wayne?"

Vorpal (87) has posed:
"I'm afraid I don't really pay attention to the society pages," Vorpal says with a little smirk, "I mean, what the Waynes do doesn't really surprise me one bit once you've spent the better part of a year getting ordered around by one."

He realizes he may be distracting Gar, but sometime Gar needs distracting, if he goes down certain paths too far and ends up in the spooky parts. But it's always good to check. "What were you thinking about?" Beat. "Brat." And he returns the hip-check. He finds any display of shyness by Gar to be completely puzzling and contradictory, and therefore endearing.

Beast Boy has posed:
"Oh, they're going to be doing some charity auction and they're looking for people to donate stuff. Lunches, dinners, like..tours of places, even items people can bid on," Gar explains, ticking off a few things with the fingers of a hand. An understanding sniff of amusement follows the mention of being bossed around by a Wayne, though.

There are times Beast Boy is not that difficult to distract, and this could be one of the times where it's a good plan. "I was thinking that I never want to see you as one of these," he admits, nodding to the memorials.

Vorpal (87) has posed:
Trust Gar to deliver a swift kick to the feels when least expected. The Cheshire cat is about to make a comment about making Raven donate that hot topic boutique that is in her wardrobe , but that quip dies before it has a chance to truly be born.

"Well, we have something in common there, because I don't want to see me as one of these, either." He puts an arm around Gar's waist and pulls him close, hopefully giving him a little more to be distracted by with a perfectly bratty response.

Beast Boy has posed:
Sometimes that's a place Beast Boy goes, which is why staying down her too long could be counterproductive. It's good to remember the fallen ones, to think about the good times, but it's hard not to remember the bad, the losses themselves. "Yeah, right," he nods once, leaning into the contact as his eyes pass over some of the writing on the display. "This was the last one, anyway. I re-read the others already."

There is an opportunity to distract him from those darker thoughts, to focus on the cheerful side again. "You want to do something?" he wonders, looking toward cat ears, hair, catboy face.

Vorpal (87) has posed:
"Actually yes," Vorpal, having a hold on Gar, starts walking towards the lift with the certainty that he is to be followed. "I believe some fresh air will do you some good." Without letting go of Gar, he presses the button to the rooftop. "And I had an idea I want to run by you that is totally currying favor with a relative of mine... type 'Yes' if you'd like to know more!"

Beast Boy has posed:
It'd be easy to follow if Vorpal kept hold of Beast Boy in some way, and that seems to be the case here. With one last glance toward the memorials, he takes steps along behind. "Y..E..S spells si, senor," he says. "What relative is this?"

Vorpal (87) has posed:
The lift opens into the remainders of a beatufiul day. The sun isn't as high in the sky, but the rootop is bathed in a bright, welcoming warmth. His hold on Gar's waist relaxes a little. "Oh, my cousin. Her name is April... she works for a news network but she also hass her own video channel. She is a lot of fun and does a lot of good work... I thought, well, maybe you and your hordes of followers could boost her viewership a little? She does some genuinely fun interviews with guests..." he winks as he walks over to the topside pool and begins to roll up his jean legs. "Plus, I would be ever so grateful to my wonderful boyfriend. Imagine what you could do with all of that gratitude!"

He grins and sits down, soaking his feet in the water. "I'd fetch your newspaper for a week, bring you breakfast in bed..."

Beast Boy has posed:
"Dude, people don't even read newspapers any more," Beast Boy starts off with as he settles in near the pool, taking up a spot on a lounge chair. Squinting out at the sun as it gets closer to the western horizon, he takes in a few longer breaths of air. It's not the cleanest around a metropolis like this, especially with two other major cities in the same region, but it could be worse.

"I've heard of her podcast. I don't think I ever knew you were related. Did you tell me before? I'm sorry if I forgot." The words come out a little scatterbrained, as if he's trying to recall while at the same time failing to pull anything up in that noggin of his. "So you want me to go on her show sometime?" His head tilts openly.

Vorpal (87) has posed:
"I've never told. I try not to mention it in case someone who shouldn't ends up ovehearing and targets her in retribution, you know? But yeah, my cousin is good people. She's been there for me more times than I can count, and..." he grins "She runs with an ... interesting crowd, she tellls me. She fits rights right in. So... what do you say?"

He splashes a little in the water, but keeps a surreptitious eye on Gar. Just to make sure he is doing okay.

Beast Boy has posed:
Beast Boy doesn't stay long in the chair, getting back to his feet to pace the edge of the pool. "I say.." A moment later he does indeed go with the dolphin look as he lands in the water without much of a splash at all, then he surges underwater for the length of the pool and back, leaping out in the middle to do a loop and finish, "..she might just flip if you tell her I'm interested! Right?" Back in the water he goes after that before rising up to 'moonwalk' along the surface with his main flipper. Maybe he's doing okay after all, or just back to being good at hiding it.

Vorpal (87) has posed:
"She might just drop to her knees and say Oh, the huge manatee!" Tommy doesn't know whether this is OK Gar or Hiding Gar. One of them is very good at taking on the guise of the other, so all he can do is provide an environment where they are both safe to be. In this case, he does this by pushing off the edge and submerging himself into the pool, clothes and all, to dart under the water.

He can't possibly imitate the grace of a sea mammal, but he is not half-bad for a feline. He emerges in the middle of the pool and spits out a mouthful of water , fountain-like. "Then again, you might just get rained on your parade."

Beast Boy has posed:
The truth? There are occasions where Gar isn't even sure if he's OK Gar or Hiding Gar. He can confuse himself under certain conditions. He can, and he has. Right now, things seem good enough as he even chitters like a dolphin is known to, doing a few more leaps and dives, splashing and spreading water around. There /is/ something that feels good about being that in tune with the water like this.

As water is spit up toward him, he splashes some back with a fin, then he makes one more leap back out of the pool to come to a seated position next to it, dripping water back in his normal Gar-form. "I'm supposed to be the one making the bad puns here," he claims, but it's hard to take him or that comment very seriously right now given how goofy he looks with that one tooth where it is and all.

Vorpal (87) has posed:
Tommy swims over to the edge with a smirk, stopping short of Gar. He looks up at him, soaking hair and fur all over. "Well, maybe you should take that as a challenge to raise your game." He hugs Gar's leg and rests his chin on his knee, raising an eyebrow, "Because my puns can be twice as bad as yours. Anything you can pun, I can pun worse...er."

He stays there for a second, lazily kicking his legs under him and enjoying the feeling of the water. "... you know what we should do sometime? We should get Damian high on sugar and take him to a rollercoaster."

Beast Boy has posed:
"You're definitely right about being worse," Beast Boy remarks, hands behind him for support as he watches the feline staking a claim to his leg. "You've got me thinking about the April thing, though. It couldn't hurt, and it might be fun. You want to ask her if you think she'd like to have me on?" he says, giving Vorpal a reason to go see his cousin again. Perhaps other topics of conversation will stem from it, too.

Then he's squinting at Tommy, reaching over to splash a handful of water at him. "Wasn't I just saying I don't want to see you memorialized down there? Because I can't think of a much better way to get there than that. Or maybe we'd both end up memorialized.." he considers, trailing off as he looks distractedly toward the skies.

Vorpal (87) has posed:
"Sure, I'll ask her- I'm sure she'll jump at the opportu-hey!" he shakes his head a the splash, and laughs. He pulls himself up on the edge of the pool and shakes his head liberally, to splash some of the water back on Gar.

"Garfield Logan, might I remind you I've already died once?" He asks, a slight smirk on his face. But then he leans forward and tips Gar's chin up with one of his hands, coming in closer. "Hey..." he says softly.

Beast Boy has posed:
Beast Boy grins at the splashing, covering up but not exactly enough to avoid some wetness from spreading thanks to the water. "Just let me know? I don't exactly have any big commitments holding me up right now."

A hint of seriousness creeps in at what's brought up, though it's offset by a slight grin. "Yeah, and I hope that didn't count as one of your nine because you're probably pretty close to having used them all up by now." About that time, the fingers settle at his chin. "Hmmm?"

Vorpal (87) has posed:
Tommy chuckles at that and shakes his head. "... stop worrying so much. Enjoy us, right now." He proceeds to scoot close to Gar, dripping and shivering just a little, because fur does that. "Unless... you know, there's sometthing bothering you you wanna talk about. Otherwise, we can just... be." He leans over and places a kiss on Gar's cheek.

Beast Boy has posed:
Beast Boy mmms, and he nods over toward the lounge chair. It looks large enough for a pair. "I'll try. Sometimes I go to places that make me worry about everyone, and losing everyone. It's good to have someone to remind me what's worth focusing on. Why don't we go over there and just be for a bit?" He returns a quick noserub at the smooch, a toothy grin threatening to break out.

Vorpal (87) has posed:
"That suits me just fine, Mister Logan." He stands up and offers his hand to Gar, "Let's be for a while, and then we can be with some pizza. I'll take you to your favorite place." He does break out the Cheshire grin.

Beast Boy has posed:
"The one with the really good garlic knots?" Gar asks, a bright, almost puppy-like look crossing his features. He must really like his garlic knots. "Then let's be, but not for too long. I'm getting hungry all of a sudden." He leads the way over to the lounge chair, and the two of them settle upon it to watch the sun go down the rest of the way.
