Cast of Characters: Wonder Woman, Scarlet Witch

Wonder Woman has posed:
Being that they're 'neighbors' in that the Themysciran Embassy and the Avengers Mansion are just about two blocks away from each other, Diana doesn't have to go far to get in touch with any of its members, and today she's specifically called ahead to get a chance to speak with Wanda... a notoriously powerful magic user.

Arriving via her own silver sports car, Diana steps out of it in a black leather jacket and a white tank top beneath, dark gray jeans and black leather boots on her feet that are pointed toes and half inch heels in the back making her just over 6 feet in height.

The Princess steps out of the vehicle and removes her sunglasses as she starts up the stairs lead to the double doors into the mansion. She slips inside and smiles to whomever it is that meets here.

"Diana, Prince. Here to see Wanda Maximoff." She tells the (they're A.I. drones aren't they?) at the lobby/foyer. There-after, Diana strolls the foyer and looks around as she waits for Wanda's arrival...

Scarlet Witch has posed:
The voice of Jarvis responds, disembodied as ever, "I believe Miss Maximoff is on her way down to greet you. She should be there momentarily, Your Highness."

And true to the AI's words, Wanda emerges from the stairwell a moment later, wearing an airy black skirt that swishes as she walks, a pair of boots visible beneath, and then a deep purple blouse of thin cotton against the summer heat. Though the interior of the mansion is kept quite comfortable.

"Diana," Wanda says with a smile, reassuming the familiarity that Diana invited her to use when they previously spoke. "It is nice to see you again. I was pleased to get your call, but I hope that everything is alright?" she inquires as she walks over to greet Diana. "Shall we head up to my room, or do we need to go somewhere more businesslike?" she asks.

Wonder Woman has posed:
Once Wanda arrives, she's greeted by a warm and sincere smile from the Princess who's holding her sunglasses between her hands in front of her. "It is so nice to get to see you again." She says to the younger woman as she approaches and offers her a hand. At the question of where they should meet, Diana gives a quick glance around with her blue eyes and then looks back to Wanda. "Room is fine, this is not so much a formal meeting as it is just a friendly visit and a request for assistance, if possible to give it."

So the Themysciran Ambassador clearly intends to follow Wanda wherever it is she intends to lead her! "Are things well here? It has been a little while since I have had a chance to come by." The last time she'd come she'd been on horseback no less!

Scarlet Witch has posed:
Wanda takes Diana's offered hand with a warm smile. "Of course, if it's something we can do you know we'll be happy to help," Wanda says gently. "Come let's go up to my room then," she says, releasing Diana's hand and motioning the way for her to follow.

They head up the stairs towards the residential area. "Things are fairly well. As much as ever, anyway. They are always in some state of emergency, just how minor, it seems. We had lost a teammate, Vision, an android who was badly hurt fighting Sebastion, the Sentinel-like cyborg. We were able to restore him with a lot of effort. So that has been rather upbeat," Wanda says.

She leaves out the part about the man she loves dying in her arms. But then, he got better too.

Wanda motions to her room as they arrive at the door, opening it and asking, "Would you like some tea or lemonade or a glass of wine? Please, have a seat and we can discuss whatever you had on your mind," Wanda says, closing the door behind Diana and moving towards the kitchen to get whatever drink Diana might indicate is appealing.

Wonder Woman has posed:
Diana proceeds through the interior of the mansion with Wanda and she listens closely to the rundown on events going on within the Avenger-sphere. She doesn't say much about them, because she doesn't really know much about them, but she does softly nod and when appropriate she'll slip in a response. "I hope everything is working out. Always happy to help where and however I can..." Her voice calm and soft, with that very distinctive accent.

Once they enter Wanda's quarters, Diana gives a quick glance around and then looks back to the woman and smiles softly again before doing as instructed and finding a place to seat herself, on the edge of a soft chair. She places her hands on her thighs and keeps her back straight and attentive stare alert.

"Tea, would be wonderful." Diana states then with a flashed smile given. "And... yes, this will be an odd request. But one that I have been intending to make of someone with great power, for many years now." She starts.

"I... am looking to find someone who can control the weather over the troubled locations on the planet that suffer from, well, Hurricanes. It is that time of year where the extremely harsh weather hazards begin to batter the poor islands to the south, and I would very much like to offer Justice League, and Avenger, aid to them..."

Scarlet Witch has posed:
Water is poured into a teapot, which is then set atop a stove to heat up. Wanda sets out two teacups on a tray and adds sugar, milk and honey to the tray while waiting for the water to be ready.

She walks over nearer to Diana's chair as she explains what the visit is about. Wanda draws in a little breath and lets it out. "I am able to affect the weather. It can be... finicky does not even begin to describe it, really," Wanda says, motioning with one of her hands as she talks.

"It is not so much a problem with getting the weather in a particular area to go how you want. The problem comes from not knowing what consequences will result elsewhere. Lessening a storm here may intensify one there. Or diverting it may start a cycle that reduces rainfall to area for days or weeks to come," she says. "Nudging the weather a direction is easy, but then it will have a head of its own. Still, extremely damaging storms might be mitigated somewhat. The larger and more powerful, the more lead it takes to change them, though," she explains.

Wonder Woman has posed:
Diana glances over to Wanda while she preps their drinks and then watches her approach and listens to the response which gets an understanding singular nod from the Princess.

"That all makes sense..." She softly says in response before she mulls that information over. "Well then, I would assume that the best option is to take a vessel into the Atlantic ocean and intercept the weather hazards before they come close to any shores. Perhaps deflecting them northward or southward between the continents would help dissipate them before they could ever reach a landmass with a population upon it..."

Diana then shows Wanda a soft smirk. "I am sorry for this being so out of no where. I just came from a discussion about it with... less abled people who were offering suggestions such as 'detonate a nuclear weapon inside one's eye' which... no, just no. That would never work. I am sure of it."

Scarlet Witch has posed:
Wanda winces at the suggestion. "Because scattering the radiation across the clouds so it carries everywhere and rains on them would be so much better," she says, shaking her head. She moves back over to the kitchen as the teapot begins to sing.

"Or breaking them up, which might cause more widespread storms, but of less severity," Wanda says. "We might wish to speak to some knowledgeable weather men about the best way to limit problems. I am not sure what the impact is if you take away that much rainfall from an area, for example. But, yes, I think at least in the case of some of the more severe weather, we might be able to do something to help," Wanda offers.

She sets the teapot on the tray and brings it over to take a seat with Diana. "Does Themyscira have many difficulties with such storms?" she inquires.

Wonder Woman has posed:
The talk of the weather experts being brought in is met and received by another light nod. "That is wise." Diana replies to the woman. "I have heard tale of mutants who can outright control the weather with their mutations... but I have yet to make any personal contacts with any such person. It would be a very valued ability though..." She lets that thought taper off and just shakes her head lightly left to right.

"Nevertheless, any assistance you can offer in this endeavor will be greatly appreciated by everyone involved, especially the people who's lives are threatened by tehse monstrous storms."

The question about her homeland gets a soft grin from the Princess. "Themyscira's weather is mostly regulated and controlled by the powers that protect it. Soft rains, gentle thunder and the occassional lightning off of the shore. But... weather from the outside world blends around the barrier that seals Themyscira off. When a storm collides with it, it seems is unaffected or continues on past it as though they island were not there at all."

"The same is with ships or planes. There is only a very small location where vehicles can pass into the Island through the barrier." Diana adds that on for clarification's sake.

Scarlet Witch has posed:
Wanda gives a shake of her head which is expressing her admiration for the isle's protections. "That is really something, and to have lasted all of these years," Wanda says admiringly. "I would have loved a chance to see the island and meet your people sometime," she says of the reclusive land.

Wanda pours the tea, letting Diana add sugar or the like as she wishes. Once the tea is settled, Wanda rests her saucer on her legs and takes a sip. "We can manage something. When the worst storms are rising and heading for areas not able to withstand such? Unfortunately these things have a way of spiraling out of control, and by that I mean the demand for such a service. Someone could end up spending all of their trying to move weather about to help this region's crops or avoid disrupting this nation's shipping or fishing," she says.

"I've seen this first hand with my boyfriend, who is a healer. As people have learned of what he can do, the demand just increases," Wanda says. "And as well-meaning as anyone is, they cannot heal everyone who need it, nor manage the weather everywhere someone might hope for it."

Wonder Woman has posed:
Diana shows a soft smile to Wanda's words about her island and the desire to visit it. "Perhaps if we can accomplish this, we can angle whatever vessel we are on a little further south and make a trip there. I would have to speak with my mother before I brought anyone to shore, but... an Avenger, a female one no less, it would likely be a simple approval for her. She admires that there are Avengers out here, women especially, attempting to save and protect the innocents from the perils of the world's problems."

Diana shows a hint of a grin toward the topic of her mother and her 'old world' ways that still linger on today, after so, so many years.

"We shall see." She prepares her own tea then and takes a sip from it. Her eyelids slip shut and she releases a vocalized sound of enjoyment toward the beverage before she looks to Wanda again. "Very good tea." She says in a playful sort of way. "But yes, thank you, in advance. I will start to contact Meteorologists and scientists within the field to confer with them on the after effects of diverting a hurricane's pathway."

Scarlet Witch has posed:
Wanda gives Diana a pleased smile at the mention she might be allowed to visit one day. "I would consider it a great honor, were she to allow me," Wanda says warmly. She takes another sip of her tea and gets a soft smile at Diana's appreciation of it. "I am not quite sure who we have to thank for it actually. Probably Janet having Jarvis stock it. Though it could be Tony or someone else I suppose. It wouldn't surprise me if Rhodey turned out to be quite the tea drinker without us knowing," Wanda says with a slight smile.

Wanda takes another sip of her tea and says, "It is good to see cooperation between the different teams like this, though. Some of the threats we have been facing recently, are a danger to the entire planet. The more we've worked with each other on these sorts of issues, the more we'll be in tune dealing with, well, Sentinel attacks or alien mushrooms, or...?"

Wonder Woman has posed:
The talk of the tea makes Diana lightly laugh. "I have not met Rhodey, I would like to. War Machine, yes?" She asks then before she nods lightly to the rest of what Wanda says. "I push for interactions between the Justice League and the Avengers, but it is challenging. Especially since the two teams are primarily stationed out of different cities. It is rare for Justice League members to come to New York on a regular basis, unless they are off on their own accord rather than official capacities."

Another sip of the drink is had then and Diana tilts her head gently toward her right. "How long have you been into magic casting and... how did you end up... honing your skills in such an art?" She asks. "I am sorry if thats invasive, it is just very curious to me. Maybe its the little girl inside of me who still views magic as a... mystifyingly exciting subject." And there at the end she shows another little grin.

Scarlet Witch has posed:
Wanda's head shake seems to be an open enough invitation that Diana's question is not unwelcome. "What I do is part of my mutant power for the most part. Which gets termed magic in my case. But if it is then so should be my father's magnetism, Pietro's speed, Hank McCoy's strength and agility, Rogue's abilities, etc," Wanda says, sticking to publicly known mutants to avoid outing anyone unintentionally.

"Though I did study the traditional magical arts as well. Under a woman named Agatha. She served as quite the mentor for me. She is known in some magical circles, but does not make herself a public figure," Wanda tells Diana.

She takes another sip of her tea and then asks, "Amazonians are known for their strength and prowess of course, and I have always believed your people to likely have great mystical knowledge. Do they have practitioners of magic amongst them as well?"

Wonder Woman has posed:
Diana softly 'aahhs' at the explanation given to her. "Mutations are so fascinating." She idly comments then. "I have seen some of your work that has been publicly documented, the way you move and summon the powers you have, it just looked... graceful and very well practiced, which lead me to believe you learned it from an academy or... something of that variety, yes."

The question asked back to her about Themysciran magicians makes Diana smiles softly. "There used to be one. She was banished from the city, not the island mind you, just the city. She practiced in a mountain peak where she had a temple constructed for herself... but... One day, she was gone." Diana glances away and then back to Wanda a moment later.

"I was in my earlier years back then, a teenager in fact... The scouting party searched high and low for her, from the mountain's peak to the depths of the enchanted forest... Not even the dryads there-in had seen her." A gentle shake of Diana's head from left to right is given then.

"To this day, no one knows what became of her. Some believe she destroyed herself with her magical explorations. Others... think she's still there, just hiding." A smile is given then. "Myself? I like to think she's precisely where she means to be, and is doing good wherever that is."

Scarlet Witch has posed:
Wanda gives a slow shake of her head. "All, self-taught," she says of wielding her mutation. She holds out her hand and her fingers move in a way that is indeed graceful. Almost as if moving through some other medium that others cannot see, and as she does the red aura which is the source of her name gathers about her fingers.

"It took time to understand, and control. Though the way I handle it... it just feels natural. What it takes to control it," she says slowly. Wanda reaches the glowing hand towards the teapot and the aura transfers to it, warming the tea before it can grow too tepid.

"Interesting. Perhaps she will return one day," Wanda says of the absentee Themysciran magi. "Your culture must be so unique. I really would be fascinated to learn more of it," Wanda says. "I attended college here for a while. History. And Themyscira I'm sure is just steeped in it, stories that the rest of the world has never heard."

Wonder Woman has posed:
Diana watches the magic touch the tea pot and it makes her level her gaze and study it as it happens. She then transfers her gaze up to Wanda's own and she shows her a light smile. "It is impressive." The Princess tells her then. "I imagine that was both... fun and no small amount of unnerving to have to discover the ins and outs of that on your own then, at least the parts that you had to do that for. Which is also a very endearing element of mutant culture for myself... Because I feel a great wealth of sorrow for mutants who discover their mutations, children no less, and have no idea how to cope with it. This is why I am willfully against the discrimination that they suffer. It is entirely against their will to become a mutant, thus it... well."

Diana pauses and smiles softly. "Thats probably a topic I should not delve into, complicated and as deep as they come." Another sip of tea is taken then and Diana sets the cup down once more.

"I would invite you to come to the Themysciran Arts Center some time. We are expanding it with another section for relics and artifacts recovered from around the world. It will be a great place to immerse yourself in the culture of my people, and learn quite a lot there-in. But..." She grins lightly again. "We will have to get you to the island itself, as well. Might be a bit more immersive in that scenario."

Scarlet Witch has posed:
Wanda's slow nod confirms she tasted firsthand the kind of difficulties and prejudices that Diana spoke of. "People are afraid of what they don't understand. Of what they cannot control. Though it always amazed me that people seem fine with... I don't know... lightning storms igniting chemicals causing someone to be enhanced. But when it just happens naturally, the same way we evolved?"

Wanda doesn't finish the thought, just shaking her head and perhaps agreeing some topics are not the most pleasant to discuss. "Thank you, I'd love to come see the Center. It sounds like my sort of places," the woman with the history degree says. "And your island as well. Anytime that your people would be willing to have me, I would be there with bells on," she says with a soft, warm laugh.

Wonder Woman has posed:
"Reactionary minds." Diana says then to the topic of mutants. "They react to the events caused by a mutant and then set themselves onto a side in the argument, and its then that its so very difficult to change anyone's mind."

She smiles faintly then and reaches forward to set her teacup down upon the tray again. "Well, I shouldn not take up any more of your time. Once I have the travel arrangements and scientific minded assistants all settled, I will reach out to you? We will likely have to act soon though as it is that time of the year and there are already reports of terrible hazards that may be on the horizon..."

A breath is taken and Diana moves to stand up then. "Thank you, Wanda. It is very good to know we have those with your powers, willing to help us in humanitarin causes such as this."

Scarlet Witch has posed:
Wanda sets down her tea as well and rises with Diana. Wanda will reach over to take Diana's hand in both of hers if allowed. "It has been wonderful getting to speak with you again. I realize how busy you are, the Justice League plus serving as an ambassador. But if you ever would like to just relax and spend time together, you always have an invitation here," Wanda says.

She motions over towards the bedroom area, where a classical guitar is sitting on a stand, beside a cello. "I don't know if you play any instruments, or sing even? But I'm always looking for someone willing to accompany my very poor musical skills. I actually just took up the cello recently so I am a total novice still." Wanda will begin walking Diana to the door.

Wonder Woman has posed:
As Diana looks over to where Wanda motions her eyes fall across the furniture, then to the instruments in question and it makes her grin. She looks to them for a moment to study them while listening then averts her gaze to the Witchy Woman and shakes her head. "No singing... I am not a singer, but... Piano and Violin are the only two I have put time into. Piano was inspired by a friend from a long time ago. Violin? Well... that instrument alone was enough to inspire me to pick it up."

Diana's hands go to rest upon her hips and she gently nods her head a couple of quick times. "The Cello is a remarkable instrument. I recently went to a concert from a woman who dedicated the entire show to me, she is a... master of the instrument. It was an awe inspiring evening, I was humbled beyond words..." She looks to Wanda then with a smile. "I hope to see you play then."

Scarlet Witch has posed:
Wanda gives a warm, laughing smile, "I'm afraid the difference in quality will be... substantial," Wanda says in her typical, slow delivery. "But if you don't mind a number of wrong notes I'd be happy to play with you. We have a piano downstairs, or if you'd like to bring a violin, either one," Wanda tells Diana.

She gives the Amazonian royal a soft smile. "Thank you for coming by. Do let me know when we can meet with the scientists and see what they recommend," she says. "And I'll look forward to learning more about your people soon, as well."
