Date of Scene: 31 August 2019

Synopsis: He got dem digits...
Cast of Characters: Thomas Raith, Mina Harker

Thomas Raith has posed:
The full moon on a weekend, it's pretty much the most ideal scenario for a night club. The line for the Blue Lady in fact stretches close to a full block. Mina had to wait...about three minutes. The young Hispanic man with the Tomahawks hanging from his belt guarding the door had grinned at her and waved her past the velvet rope and into the Club. "Now Joo jus' remember me later, if you strike out in there non?"

Mina Harker has posed:
Mina steps in, her usual simple attire is what she's wearing. Jeans, leather jacket (open with a t-shirt beneath it), and her scarf, then oh yes, her boots, too. She steps in carefully then takes it in, looking around quietly before spotting a table. She stays put for a moment then finally sits at the table, stretching her legs out. She smiles a little. Not bad, Mina. Not bad for a half vampire. She got hit on by the bouncer, and...and...she's in here. Now she's here.....now she's here....she'll enjoy herself. It's not often she gets to unwind and relax some. Looking up she nods to the bar and makes her way over, ordering a whiskey. Just....a straight whiskey, no ice, nothing.

Thomas Raith has posed:
The bartender looks quite a bit like Bruce Willis in RED, only with an eyepatch, grunts at her in acknowledgement and moves over, pouring the drink for her quickly and expertly. No fuss, no muss. "You have to respect a woman who can just shoot whiskey, no chaser." The voice comes from a man beside her, a handsome man whose words float in the air like silk wrapped in smoke for their smoothness.

Mina Harker has posed:
Mina's on her guard, but she does look over. She lifts the glass and pauses for a moment. She then closes her eyes, and downs the whiskey in one gulp. Her eyes burn, her throat's on fire and she's coughing. The glass is, though, on the bar. She's not tried this for quite a few years. Or a few dozen years. Still, she sucks in a breath and shudders, looking over to the mysterious man as she blinks.

Thomas Raith has posed:
Thomas Raith smirks just a little bit and fills a highball glass from a crystal decanter that he has sitting beside him. He salutes her with the rich amber liquid inside and shoots it down without a flinch, almost in challenge. Then he reaches over the bar and lifts a bottle of Johnny Walker Blue, and refills her own glass with that. "I'm Thomas Raith, I own the the Blue LAdy. Ad you are?"

Mina Harker has posed:
"Mina Harker" Mina says and tilts her head, before looking to Thomas again. She narrows her eyes on the liquid he's drinking, and shakes her head. Is she really, really that stupid? Yes, she is as she downs the drink. She lived through the 60s after all (and got into an asylum). She slams the empty glass down, looking out of it a little more. Mina keeps watching Thomas as she's definitely not perfectly sober.

Thomas Raith has posed:
Thomas Raith slams his own drink again, stretching his own jaw a bit after. He refills their glasses again, each from their own bottles, and leans back smirking ever so sightly. It is at least top shelf booze he is giving her for the interview as it were. "And if I'm any judge of accents, I'm going to guess London area?" he asks casually, sending the third drink down just as fast as the other two...

Mina Harker has posed:
Mina studies Thomas for a moment, then carefully sips her drink. He's right on the accent. He's trying, in her mind, to get her drunk. She won't play those games. Instead she sips slowly, as if measuring out the drink and seeing if he'll bite...no pun intended, on the fact she's slowed down her drinking. She's a bit out of it, but she shudders, pushing her drink aside. "Water please" she says crisply. She's determined not to get drunk here and now. Wht would Nemo and Quatermaine say if they were here right now? She'd probably give them a drunk, harsh tongue lashing, that's for sure.

Thomas Raith has posed:
At her order of water, he smirks just a little bit and nods as Yosa, the Batender, pours her a glass of ice water and leaves a few lemon wedges in a small bowl next to the glass. Thomas for his part refills his own drink and sips it as well. "So what is a beautiful woman, far from home, doing drinking alone in a place like this on a beautiful summer night?"

Mina Harker has posed:
Mina sips the water and watches Thomas. "I'm relaxing after a long day of work, and thought I'd come here before I catch a train" she says. it's (mostly) true. She's got a train to catch but...not for a while. She doesn't really have a home to go back to. She's just here for her own reasons. "You're drinking in your own club. I'm here drinking because I liked the look of this place. It's funny, when it was the 1930s..." Mina sighs. "I was at a very interesting point in my life." she admits. The booze has loosened her tongue up.

Thomas Raith has posed:
Thomas Raith raises an eyebrow at that and leans back slightly, "Didn't see them myself. Before my time. But I love the aesthetic of the time. It was a period of decadence. You give people a taste of something... that they are getting away with something, and they will completely give themselves over to it. And of course that mens they are willing to spend more, which is good for me..."

Mina Harker has posed:
"Mhm" Mina says and salutes with her water. "But think of all the social issues on the flip side, you had the Great Depression. You had global societal change" Mina says. She's not explaining that one. If Thomas has studied in school at all...he'll get where she's going with this. "There's two sides to every coin. You got the bright lights, you got the people who fight for change" Mina adds and sips her water, adding a lemon wedge to it and swilling the water around. She's watching quietly, not commenting on his business savviness. At least, not yet.

Thomas Raith has posed:
The Club gets a bit quieter as their headliner, a woman who could pass for Jessica Rabbbit in figure and dress if Jessica Rabbit had been black, steps out onto the stage and begins to croon about love found and lost in the big city. Thomas smirks just a little bit, "Maybe, but people, especially those who didn't live through it, tend to gloss over then unattractive details. People remember Apollo 11, but forget Apollo 1. It's the same thing here. Sure people were starving to death... but damn some folks were having a hell of a time."

Mina Harker has posed:
Looking over to Thomas again after looking at the bowl of lemon slices, she looks serious. "Apollo....11?" she asks. "They made it to the Moon then?" she asks and smiles. "Good, I'm glad"
th that she leans back in her chair listening to the music then peeks at Thomas again. Her eyes are a little closed, watching Thomas then over to the stage.

Thomas Raith has posed:
Thomas Raith raises an eyebrow at /that/ one and sips his tea, considering. "Certainly... been out of the loop for a while, hmm?" he asks curiously. Thomas has a finely tuned sense for when something, or someone is a little off... Of course he generally ignores it and does whatever he feels like anyway.

Mina Harker has posed:
"Been on medication for a while" Mina says evasively. She's not wanting to explain the whole shebang, nope. She doesn't want to explain this...it's bringing back bad, bad memories as she cloes her eyes and breathes in deeply. She's shaking evr so slightly and looks a little worried. She slides off the stool then sips her water.

Thomas Raith has posed:
Thomas Raith Stands as well and reaches out to take her hand casually. "Would you at least care to dance?" he asks playfully, blue eyes holding no small amount of mischeviousness in them. His touch... well frankly most men can't kiss a nicely as the feeling of Thomas's hand on her's.

Mina Harker has posed:
"Maybe" Mina says with a look at Thomas as he's got his hand on her, and looks pleased. "Maybe I could dance. What's in it for me?" she asks looking over with a genuinely curious look. Sure she led a hedonistic life thorugh the 60s, but...but...she's interested. "How about you make it worth my time?" she winks

Thomas Raith has posed:
Thomas Raith smirks just a little bit, leading her out onto that floor, letting his fingers almost caress her own hand as he pulls her close. "Oh I can show you ways to make your time be very well spent." He says playfully, moving his body and her's in time to the sultry jazz.

Mina Harker has posed:
Mina closes her eyes for a brief moment, then twirls away to grab a napkin. She scribbles her number on it and leaves it on the table...then...she turns into a swarm of bats. She's getting anxious and scared. Time to fly away, though a whole swarm of bats streaming for the door is an...impressive, if odd sight. There's those pictures of the bats streaming out of caves, and Mina's doing that on a smaller scale. She's just left her number for Thomas if he wants to call her. Admittedly, it /does/ come with risks however. Like just who she hangs around with.
