Remember the 60's
Date of Scene: 05 September 2019
Location: Flatbush, Brooklyn
Synopsis: Mina and Nita meet for burgers and catch up. It's been a long time since the 1960's, after all.
Cast of Characters: Namorita, Mina Harker

Namorita has posed:
Brooklyn isn't what it used to be, but the neighborhood is still decent enough during the day. Since Nita and Mina recently crossed paths it's taken some arranging to schedule actual time to catch up, but there's a nice burger joint in Flatbush.

Nita isn't shy about arriving in costume, and she's even brought along a pair of flip-flops just in case the 'shoes required' policies are enacted. Long blonde hair is pulled back, pointed ears clearly displayed almost in defiance of anti-Atlantean sentiment. She arrives first, selecting a table with good view of the front window.

Mina Harker has posed:
Mina's the one who called....and called...and called more to catch up. Now she's here in her normal attire, only the boots have a button from one of those touristy places. Her scarf has one, too, a tasteful cookie shaped button. Mina's aparently taken to collecting them. Still, she's here in Brooklyn. And she's hungry too...as she's walking down the street she ducks into an alley to get rid of that pesky cookie button....then she's making her way to the burger joint for lunch. THere's a slight spring in her step, too. Shes looking forward to this, really.

Namorita has posed:
Namorita is watching the door, one leg crossed over the other with the raised foot bobbing. Spotting Mina as she ducks into the cafe, Nita's ankle wings flutter to catch the eye and she offers a warm smile. As her old friend approaches, Nita rises to greet with a warm embrace. "It's wonderful to see you again. As always."

Mina Harker has posed:
Mina steps straight into the embrace and smiles. "It is, it really is. So you picked here for lunch?" she asks with a smile, looking around for anything out of the ordinary as she finally releases Nita and sits, pulling her jacket more around herself. "So, why here?" she asks gently. "Not complaining, but I'm surprised by the area"

Namorita has posed:
The embrace lingers, then the two separate and sit. "Nostalgia, mostly. It's one of the few places around these days that still reminds me of those old burger joints. Remember the ones with the old-fashioned sofa fountains?" Yes, Nita always did have a horrible sweet tooth. She picks up a menu and crosses her legs again. "I know it's gone downhill a bit, but that's not really something you and I need to worry about."

Mina Harker has posed:
Mina raises an eyebrow. "You always went straight for them nIta" she says and smiles. "You always took a quarter too, then kept getting more money. Don't ask me how, I was too busy living it up" she admits and there's the ghost of a smile on her lips. Shaking her head Mina looks around. "I remember the ones with the straws at the counter, too. THe long, swirling straws that you'd pay a nickel and it'd give you so much" Mina admits. "Of course, in the 60s...other uses" she says with a suggestive grin. "We both figured out how to really use that space" she adds. Sure, she might have ended the 60s badly. BUt up until that point? She was enjoying it immensley.

Namorita has posed:
Namorita chuckles softly, gaze lowering in a not-quite-sheepish sort of way. "What happened in the 60's, STAYS in the 60's." she offers with a knowing smile. Regarding the other woman for a moment, she asks. "I tried to find you, but you just disappeared. I thought you'd turn back up again when you were ready, and if you don't want to talk about it I completely understand."

Mina Harker has posed:
Mina laughs and orders a soda. "You know if you look hard enough, all our old 60s stuff's coming back. I..." she starts and loks serious for a moment. She's looking like she's remembering something unwanted. "I got into a bit of trouble with a bat and LSD" Mina admits. Got locked up, and then released, just like that" she admits with a worrid look. See, I'm not sure which was worse, the asylum, or everything else about it" she adds.

Namorita has posed:
Namorita's expression becomes more serious as well, and she nods slowly. "I... that sounds terrible, Mina. An assylum? Not that we all didn't get a little bit crazy back in the day." Her head tilts and the smile returns. "I protested Vietnam for a while, of course. Continued school, but never did finish my degree. Did some hero-stuff, and somehow ended up as CEO of my cousin's company." She pauses to wrinkle her nose. "I'm still not sure whether it was intended to be a reward or punishment."

Mina Harker has posed:
Mina shakes her head. "It's okay if I don't think about it" Mina says quickly. "We were all just living life to the full, and some of us got caught out" Mina says with a sad note in her voice. "Vietnam was worth protesting over though and we had our part to play. I'm just jealous I missed Woodstock, and...and....all that came from it. I was drugged up and out of it, Nita. Wait, you got to be CEO? And I got to keep the Black Dossier? So who really got the better end of the deal?" Mina asks, sipping her soda that she ordered once it arrives. The burger comes next, piled high with all the trimmings.

Namorita has posed:
Namorita chuckles at that, offering a nose-wrinkle again. "Yeah, I think we both know the answer to THAT one." she offers with a smirk. She receives a strawberry soda with lots of whipped cream (extra!), her own burger likewise drug through the garden. With a big plate of fries to share. "It's not a full-time gig, really, thanks to Namor's other good staff picks. But it gives me money to use towards environmental causes." She shrugs, then. "And when money isn't enough, there are always more direct methods."

Mina Harker has posed:
Mina looks over the burgers. She looks a little worried by the burgers. "Did those get dragged through an entire, entire salad bowl or garden?" she asks with a quiet, amused look as she takes a fry. "Okay it's good" Mina adds chewing on it then watches Nita. You've got money and power and direction. I've got my things. But we both help each other out" she says and a nod, starting on her burger as she twirls the straw in her drink with her other hand, the burger mostly garden everything, and then hiding among it, meat, cheese, and.....because apparently it's the in thing? Pickles.

Namorita has posed:
Namorita grins at that, tilting her head to try and figure out how best to pick up the monstrosity. "It would seem so." Long, delicate fingers spread and wrap around the beast, balancing it carefully in a one-handed grip. She plucks a fry with her other hand, munching it before replying. "So what are you working on these days?" Pause. "... that you can share with me, of course."

Mina Harker has posed:
Mina's more....direct. She takes one dagger from her boot and jams it into the burger like she's s stabbing Dracula, then the other's used to slice through the burger. "Honestly not a lot" she says getting pelted with flying salad and various veggies. "Carrot?" she asks. Then she just slices the burger in half and retrieves the daggers, wiping them off on plenty of napkins sliding them back into her boot. Logic, daggers are sharp and sharp things cut through....that gargantuan monstrosity. Reason: Cutting equals eating equals getting a facial from plants and veggies. Mina's being scientific, and munching on the greenery that's come out of the burger.

"Not a lot, either way" she says between bites. "Nothing much, just trying to get everyone together to see who needs help" she says and eyes the burger. Minus the half a greengrover's....it's more manageable. "I've been keeping tabs on the city though and making notes in case anyone wants them" she ads and finally gets to the burger. She bites....and gags. "Pickles. Who wants pickles in a burger?" she adds and carefully removes the pickles. Who knows, if she runs into a vampire, she can throw pickles or make them into tiny little crucifixes? Death by eligious pickle...what a way to go....

Mina though savors the burger and looks across the table. Okay, so she's ended up with half the greenery over Nita's side of the table, but.....sure, just ask for a bowl, and instant side salad. Who said Mina's not creative or logical exactly?

Namorita has posed:
Namorita's arched brows lift at the direct approach, and she smiles wryly. "Good to see that I've had a positive influence on you." she offers. At least Nita didn't openly wear a dagger into the place... no boots to hide one. She nods and accepts the offered carrot. And whatever else Mina wants to push in her direction.

Meanwhile, she munches on fries and carefully nibbles the burger she's balancing in the other hand. "There has been some anti-Atlantean sentiment stirred up recently, thanks to Arthur shooting at Genosia or something. Other than that, I'm doing my own 'field research' into local companies who claim to be cleaning up their act, environmentally." She pauses to take a bigger bite of the burger, taking a few moments of chewing before she adds. "You -will- let me know if you turn up anything unusual, right? Something to keep me away from my desk."

Mina Harker has posed:
"Science, my dear Nita" Mina says with a grin. "It's logic and reason. You think we can get a bowl for the salad?" she asks and listens nodding. "I always have an issue with those big companies claiming oh, yeah, we do our disposal properly. THen they don't" she says and looks impressed. "ctually" she says holding up a fry to make a point. "Actually, I was going to go back to England to see how things are there" she says, it's an open invitation for a getaway really. A trip back to her home land. Assuming, naturally, nothing comes up beforehand. Mina though nods approvingly at Nita. "I'm not sure where you are more dangerous, behind a desk or the two of us roaming around getting into trouble" she offers with a grin, one coated in food. "Both are just as dangerous" she says with a nod.

Namorita has posed:
Namorita continues nibbling, although she raises her free hand and offers a surprisingly-shrill whistle to call the waitress over for a bowl. "Back to England, hmm? Is this a personal get-away, or do you need someone to watch your back?" Nita's always been fond of England, dispite the pollution. Plenty of water and waterways, of course.

Mina Harker has posed:
"Both. I won't say no if you're watching my back" Mina offers. "Plus, she'll keep dragging herself and Nita into a lot of trouble, the best kind. Looking at the bowl, Mina scoops the salad and greenery into it. She nods at the bowl. "There. Sorted" she grins. "I just feel like going to Englahnd is something I need to do" she adds with a nod. Englnd's where she grew up, after all. Albeit she won't easily return to Transylvania, really. Instead, she'l start with England and test how things go there. It's not the Victorian age any more. That should work in her favor.

Namorita has posed:
Namorita works steadily on her burger, pausing to drink deeply from the strawberry soda as well. "It's been a while since you've been back." she offers. "But I think you'll like it there. London is supposed to be the height of fashion these days. And the whole country always feels so... moist." Which, to an Atlantean, is definitely a good thing. "But say the word and we'll hop a plane."

Mina Harker has posed:
Mina nods as she's got a thoughtful, interesting look. "London's fashion? Alright, see, we can live it up there" she nods with a wide grin. She's pushing aside fear with a reason that it can't be all that bad if she's got friends with her. "England is moist and beautiful" Mina admits adding more to the salad bowl too with the last of her greenery. "I wonder who else would come with us?" she asks looking quiet and contemplative for a moment. She's thinking on it, as she's slowly workiong on her burger and fries as well. She doesn't even care her hands are stained with cheese, really.

Namorita has posed:
Namorita shrugs at the question of who else might join them. "Hard to say, really." Lunch continues and the two ladies catch up some more. It's been a long time since the 60's, and Nita at least has plenty to share. Eventually they part ways with promises to do it again, and definitely to stay in touch.
