Date of Scene: 11 June 2017
Location: Fashion District, New York
Synopsis: Jade goes shopping and runs into Janet and Pepper during their own shopping excursion.
Cast of Characters: Jade, Wasp (van Dyne), Pepper Potts

Jade has posed:
It is mid-afternoon, and the sunlight is bright in the cloudless sky. Jennifer-Lynn Hayden, often mistaken for She-Hulk when she's in the city despite being several feet shorter than Jennifer /Walters/ is shopping. For clothes. Or at least, browsing in one of the more stylish stores on the Upper East Side. The young woman with the dark green hair, and lighter green skin is standing out vividly (literally so) against the more pale-skinned or even dark-skinned crowd as she considers casual wear she might wear, when not squeezed into her uniform.
Presently dressed in a simple white halter top and a pair of black shorts and sandals, Jade is mulling over a pair of sundresses, one black, the other white and thus, she's either completely oblivious, or completely ignoring any stares from fans (or haters who might mistake her for a mutant) and seeming in good spirits.

Wasp (van Dyne) has posed:
There is another who happens to be shopping...or at least scoping out the competition. Dressed in a black blouse and a matador-styled jacket, a figure casually strolls through the same store as a certain green-hued woman. A wide-brimmed hat obscures most of the features, but there is little disguising the fact that it is Janet van Dyne walking through the store.

Janet turns to a currently unseen companion, chattering lively as her hands flutter about, indicating certain styles. "I have that same dress in my closet right now! Of course, I did a little improvement to it, make it more my own, but I do have it!" She giggles as she turns her head. "Oh...and I created something similar to that particular outfit a couple of months earlier. So nice to see that they like it here, too." A couple of people stop to murmur...it is obvious that they know who the chatterbox is, too.

Pepper Potts has posed:
Despite Janet's chattiness, or perhaps because of it, Pepper follows along with an austere sort of quiet elegance. She doesn't have near the speech patterns of her friend, but it doesn't seem to bother her either. Pepper is used to taking second to someone else in the spot light. It's probably where she is most comfortable. She pauses and steps back as someone asks Janet for a picture, letting them go on, before she returns to her friend's side.

"It's a good outfit, but without the darts you put in and the asymmetrical hem, it's... Plain. And wouldn't do well without some tailoring. You did it better." Of course Pepper thinks that, she's got the better dress sitting in her closet. She smirks a bit more to something else on another rack. "...Why, Jan...why are we bringing back the 90s? These are... AWFUL. It hurts me. Use your clout. Stop this. Please. No one needs to wear denim everything again."

Jade has posed:
Eventualy, Jade stuffs both sundresses back onto the rack, saying aloud, "It's like they purposefully make these to get destroyed when you do the wash so you'll have to buy them again," mostly to herself. And, haphazardly, she looks to see if anyone agrees with her the way a complainer sometimes will, when their complaint feels justified.
It's then she sees Janet, and by proxy, Pepper. The obscuring hat of course makes Janet stand out a little more, as does Pepper's vibrant hair.
"Hey," she says, perfectly friendly, and without any measure of fangirling, "You're Janet van Dyne. I modeled a few of your pieces, a few years back. Wish I still had them."
Pepper Potts she does not recognize, at least not at first but she gives the woman with Janet a friendly smile nevertheless. "Jennifer-Lynn Hayden. Jade." No, not a big name hero, not like Iron Man, but she's been out there.

Wasp (van Dyne) has posed:
The picture request is handled with Jan's usual ease, with a bright smile and a cheerful demeanor. After the picture, the comment about who did it better from Pepper elicits a laugh as Janet turns to regard her. "Of course I did it better. That's what I do." A wink is tipped as the attention turns to the lovely demin number Pepper indicated. "Ooooo. That...is certainly a throwback. As in...throw it in the back of the closet." Another giggle escapes from Jan as she looks over the ensemble again, just shaking her head in amusement.

As her name...her full name...is said out loud, Jan turns to regard the voice. Another smile crosses over her lips as she nods in the affirmative. "Yes...I'm Jan." As mention of modeling in the past is mentioned, Jan tilts her head to the side. An indication of her thinking. "Oh...yes! I remember! I recall avoiding reds with you. I didn't want to look too Christmas-y...though it was in July, wasn't it? " Jan was about to speak the word Jade...but Jade does the job for her as the emerald one introduces herself to Pepper. It seems that Janet does remember...at least when it comes to fashion. "Would you like the pieces? I am sure I could spare them."

Pepper Potts has posed:
As Janet is recognized AGAIN, Pepper smiles a bit more and steps back. She almost subconsciously does everything she can to give her companion the spotlight, it's just become habit now, fading into the clothes racks and letting Janet socialize and pomp as she needs. If it looks like Jan is socialized out, Pepper will step in and direct her somewhere more private. But, for now, she's happy to remain in the shadows...

Until Jade actually introduces herself to PEPPER. That was strange. The blonde blinks in a hint of confusion but then flashes a slightly wider smile and presents her hand for a good, business like shake. "Virginia Potts... But you can call me Pepper, that's just fine. It's nice to meet you, Jade... I believe I've seen a few articles about the good work you've been doing out there. Keep it up... Maybe you'll actually let Tony and the like take a break for once."

Jade has posed:
Jade shakes Pepper's hand warmly, "Not out there for the fame," she assures Pepper, "But, I'm glad you at least recognize me. I couldn't tell you the number of times someone has asked me for my autograph today, and then shove a picture of She-Hulk at me. Just because we share the same skintone, and the same first name?" She sighs, good naturedly.
There's a nod towards Janet, "Absolutely. If you still have them. I need a few things for socal functions that are coming up. And, apparently it's not proper for me to show up to a gala event in my costume." Another humored smile.

Wasp (van Dyne) has posed:
"Of course. Even if I didn't have the exact pieces you wore, it wouldn't be all that difficult at all to reproduce." Janet pauses...considering. "Of course, I might ask you for some modeling in the future. We could call the previous pieces as a retainer's fee for future modeling services, perhaps?" It is a valid question, but given with a slight grin. Jan knows what she is doing, of course.

Jan turns to Pepper, grinning that same slight grin. "Oh, you think Tony and the boys need a break? From what I have seen of Tony...he doesn't take breaks very often."

Pepper Potts has posed:
A deeper smirk crosses the slender, quite woman's lips, "No... Tony almost never takes a break. He could be having a heart attack and he wouldn't take a break. It's... quite maddening, actually. When I KNOW there are people out there just as capable as he is." Pepper nods towards Jade, clearly appreciative of the small bits she's heard and, no doubt, a detail oriented woman. No mistaking the green woman for the slightly louder She-Hulk as others do. Pepper Potts doesn't make such mistakes.

"Anyway, Jade, you could absolutely wear your costume to a gala and damn anyone who says otherwise. It would actually be excellent branding for you... but, being a show piece for Jan here would also be excellent branding for HER. I guess it depends on how you want to get your name out there or how much you want to play ball with society." Ever working, Pepper's mind is dancing over the permutations of all possiblities. She muses aloud, "...you could start the evening in your costume and then suddenly fade into pure elegance. Maybe we could design an impressive quick change. Or... perhaps the other way around..."

Jade has posed:
Jade seems amused at the prospects, telling Janet, "As long as it doesn't interfere with my duties, or my training. I've still got a long ways to go," she says, with an air full of confidence she will get there, and the peace of mind that she -can- get there. "I think we have a deal. But it's a one time thing. I left modeling, too demanding on my time. Went into Photography instead, to pay the rent. I do alright." Wealth, apparently, not something that's too important to Jade.
It suddenly dawns on Jade who Pepper says she was, "Tony Stark?" Curious. Everyone, afterall, has heard stories of Tony Stark. Some good. Some bad. But that's Tony for you. "I've never actually run into him. But then, I spend most of my time around members of the Lanterns. But, we all need some downtime. Certainly."
She looks over to Janet again, reaching into her pocket and pulling out her small cellphone, "Here's my number." She pushes the display up for Janet to see, copy down on her phone, or wherever. "Just text me when you'd like to get together."

Wasp (van Dyne) has posed:
Photography? That perks up Jan a bit. "What....sort of photography? Because I certainly could use photographers as much as models. That is...if you wanted to. Could be completely freelance."

The mind shifts, from photos to the gala. "Well....I could help out by just designing your costume. Or, we could certain do some sort of quick change. It would be an interesting challenge." Something about Jan's tone indicates that she sounds rather excited about the opportunity.

Reaching back, Jan pulls Pepper up just a bit closer, hanging on her arm lightly. "You know....we *could* go talk to Tony together. You know, so that he actually takes a break and we help Jade build her brand." A glance over towards Jade shows that the grin has taken a wicked little gleam to it. "Because, trust me, between you and me pestering him, Pepper, there is no way Tony will get away."

Pepper Potts has posed:
The green woman's question about Tony makes Pepper half smile. It's a strange smile, clearly, utterly in love, and yet trying to be restrained and slightly annoyed at the same time. Most everything Tony Stark inspires in people. Pepper exhales a quiet sigh and tilts her head in affirmation, "Yes, Tony Stark, the one and only. I'm his assistant..." And acting CEO when he is incapacitated, which has been twice in the last few months, "But he dislikes downtime more than most. I'm sure we can introduce you both at one of these galas soon..."

And then Pepper's pale eyes look back over to Jan and shes ighs a bit deeper at the comment of talking to Tony together. She gives a small shake to her head, "If I bring a force, he'll feel attacked and NEVER actually consider it. Besides, despite waking up next to him most mornings, I still can't get him to take a weekend off." That's a new development since the last time Pepper and Jan hung out together. Pep and Tony weren't together, despite pararazzi lies. Apparently... things have changed?

Jade has posed:
"Your call, Janet," Jade offers politely. "Though, to be honest, I'd be more comfortable doing the Photography. Just don't credit me? Last thing I need is other designers thinking I've sold out and have them calling me day and night," she half-jokes. But, Janet's been in the business, and so has Jade. There's some definite truth to her statement. Designers could be sharks, when blood was in the water. Blood, like an exceptional photographer.
"Call me, or text me. We'll definitely set something up." She seems very, very pleased with this outcome.
Her dark green hair is pushed out of her eyes as she listens to Pepper, then. "Certainly. No rush. I've got the Justice League to meet, soon enough. My dad thinks it's time I join them." There's a wry smile, but it's tempered with some humor. "We'll see what they think of me, I suppose. You could always just wait until it's your anniversary, or birthday, and tell him for your present you want him to take some time off," she suggests to Pepper, at least getting an idea for what a workhouse Tony is.

Wasp (van Dyne) has posed:
The smartphone slips out from some unseen pocket. As fingers fly over the screen, seemingly without a glance, Jan nods with a smile upon her face. "Whatever you want, Jade. I would definitely be comfortable with that arraignment." A wave of the phone is given, before the phone disappears from view. "I will be sure to call you. I promise."

There is a slight blink as Jade mentions going to meet the League. A low whistle is given. "Well...that is certainly a high profile group. I applaud the ambition. Maybe I should follow suit myself." There's a pause, then a glance to Pepper. "Maybe I should meet Tony sometime." Then...as an afterthought, Jan adds. "If you want any man to do something for you, just make it seem like it was his idea in the first place. Works like a charm."

There's no questioning about what Pepper did just drop. However, the look that Jan gave, when Pepper dropped the sleeping together bomb, is a pretty clear indication that she caught the reference. And...there might be questions later. But...not now.

Pepper Potts has posed:
The blonde pulls out one of her cards, offering it immediately in Jade's direction. "Give me a call and we'll set up a minor meeting, at least. Something casual, no pressure for anyone. After you are done with Jan, of course... She needs you more right now, and gala season isn't even halfway over. Clearly, you need each other." Pepper flashes and almost matchmaking smile. SHe tries to match people in business the way yentes do marriages.

Then she flickers her gaze to the side, recognizing that look in Jan's eyes. Her friend defintiely realized what she's said. But this wasn't the place and Pepper's cellphone is going off quite repeatedly. She swears lightly, "...Jan, speak of the devil...I think I need to cut shopping short. It was lovely meeting you, Jade. Jan, we'll do...Coffee, or something..." ANd then Pepper is out the door, headed back to work no doubt. Janet is flanked by other fans in short order and Jade is left to maybe, eventually, finish shopping.
