What The Heck Was That, Anyways
Date of Scene: 14 September 2019
Location: Kitchen - Xavier's School
Synopsis: Sam and Shannon make plans to venture into Mutant Town and track down the mysterious teenager from the warehouse arms deal incident. They also make plans to help the new Samuel further acclimate to his new life.
Cast of Characters: Nightingale, Cannonball

Nightingale has posed:
The evening went well enough, and Shannon was smiling to have perhaps made a bit of a difference to a new student, just as so many had been kind to her upon her arrival at the school. She's gone back to the kitchen with the plates and is cleaning up, still honoring the bet with only a few more days to go. But her brows also furrow in thought, at least for the moment.

Cannonball has posed:
Samuel Guthrie brings the glasses and the last of the dishes that were in the rec room to the kitchen and set them beside the sink "Thanks, think the pizza helped out a bit there."

Nightingale has posed:
Shannon nods, and smiles some. "It's hard to stay in a bad mood over good food. Can't imagine what he's been through, but it'll come out over time. Right now... it just sounds like he needs a friend." Her expression seems just a little distant for a moment as she turns back towards the sink, elbows-deep in water, suds, and dishes. "Something's been bugging me since that incident in the warehouse. Remember that kid that got caught up in the whole mess?"

Cannonball has posed:
Samuel Guthrie nods a bit and says "The phaser?" He will ask, just assuming thats how the kid was not hurt by the shot.

Nightingale has posed:
Shannon chooses her words carefully, trying to think how best to put it. "I'm not so sure if it was phasing. When he was shot in the neck, it was like part of it broke up into bits of light, almost like... well... like a hologram. It was really weird."

Cannonball has posed:
Samuel Guthrie hmms and says "Well have met some folks who can make holograms. Don't think Ah have ever met someone who could turn himself into one. Would explain why he did not seem worried, but how was the guy holding him then?

Nightingale has posed:
Shannon nods. "See, now you know why this has been bugging me. It's just not adding up. But for the life of me, I can't quite figure out what piece of the puzzle is missing." She takes a deep breath, and lets it out with a bit of a sigh. "I was hoping to go back to the area and take a look around, see if the kid turns up again. If he is a mutant, maybe he's someone we could help. And if not... maybe we can find out who or what he is."

Cannonball has posed:
Samuel Guthrie hmmms and says "We can check it out sometime just let me know when you want to go, and we will see if we spot anyone nearby or anything

Nightingale has posed:
Shannon nods. "I was thinking maybe tomorrow. But I wanted to run it by you first, do this the right way." She cracks a little smile, and shrugs. "Figured if anyone went looking, it ought to be those of us who were there instead of a total stranger. At least the kid's seen us, maybe he wouldn't be as freaked out by someone he's seen before."

Cannonball has posed:
Samuel Guthrie nods, and says "Ah would say Ah would try to get a mini cerebro, but Ah honestly not sure if it would be of any help with all the mutant signatures in the area. He will move to the fridge and grab some ice cream, and moves to sit at the bar while they talk.

Nightingale has posed:
Shannon nods, and peers over to see what flavor ice cream Sam's chosen. "So... what do you think would be the best way to go about this, then? I mean, a couple days on, it's probably a shot in the dark anyways, but it just fries me to see an innocent have been shot like that, and then do nothing to try and help afterwards."

Cannonball has posed:
Samuel Guthrie has a drumstick, with a reeces cup topping "We can start checking the area around that time for a few nights. Maybe he works at a store or something in the neighborhood

Nightingale has posed:
Shannon nods. "It may turn up nothing, or we may find him again. But if we do find him, and he's one of us... at least we can let him know there's help if he wants it." She purses her lips for a moment, gone silent. "Just got a gut feeling about this, though. Something isn't quite right. Maybe not harmful... but not quite right, either."

Cannonball has posed:
Samuel Guthrie says, "Well I would lay odds 75% or so he is a mutant. Seems to have powers encountered in mutant town, sorta adds up ya know?" He smiles at her"

Nightingale has posed:
Shannon nods. "Sort of. You could be right. But there's that other 25% in scattered bits of light, instead of blood. If that was a hologram, and that guy was able to hold onto him... we'd be looking at some next-level stuff here." She gets two spoons and smiles at Sam, offering him one. "Still, you could be right. Gods only know I've seen some pretty amazing stuff since coming here."

Cannonball has posed:
Samuel Guthrie hmms and takes the spoon but says "Ah still think maybe he can turn himself into a hologram, and did not till right before the guy fired or something but we can look into it

Nightingale has posed:
Shannon nods, and digs into the ice cream; it seems to be classic vanilla, with several scoops already missing from root beer floats. "Well... either way, maybe we can find out, and see if anything else can or needs to be done at that time."

Cannonball has posed:
Samuel Guthrie smiles and says "We will look into ti and maybe if he needs help we can help him through x-corp. So, what you been up to today anyways?

Nightingale has posed:
Shannon shrugs. "Nothing too much. Finally got those jeans of mine replaced, though it's going to take me a little while to put ribbon embroidery on these. Don't worry, I took the trip into town by the book." She chuckles a little bit. "Stopped off at the local greasy spoon for a bite, ran into an interesting person there. Glad the conversation didn't go on any longer, though, I was afraid he'd start asking questions about if I was in school, and that could've gotten real awkward. Thank the gods it didn't."

Cannonball has posed:
Samuel Guthrie says, "You just tell them you go to a private school upstate a bit. That can cover it most times." He will tell her "This is a legit school after all.""

Nightingale has posed:
Shannon nods. "Yeah but see, the thing was, since it was in Mutant Town, I wasn't wearing my image inducer. So no, I wasn't even going to mention that much at all."

Cannonball has posed:
Samuel Guthrie ahs and nods his head a bit to that, and says "Make sense, I should show ya this place I found it is where I had a shirt made for Rahne and Dani."

Nightingale has posed:
Shannon nods and smiles some. "That sounds pretty neat. Could do with a few different shirts myself, maybe look and see what they've got for designs. I'd just have to make slits for my wings."

Cannonball has posed:
Samuel Guthrie says, "The guy maybe willing to make the slits for them even. Seemed to be an ok little place."

Nightingale has posed:
"Ooooo... in that case, maybe you, me, Megan, and new Sam might all be able to go. Maybe they could make Megan a nice shirt, and new Sam could find something that'd cheer him up a bit, too. I get this funny feeling he's never been shopping for his own things, or at least not in a real long time." Shannon grins at the prospect of the trip.

Cannonball has posed:
Samuel Guthrie says, "Oh he aint, we need to get him to a mall first I think get him some just generic stuff before custom stuff"

Nightingale has posed:
Shannon nods and grins even wider. "Oh yes. We've got a whole lot of doors to open for this kid. Loving the sound of it more and more! Let's figure out a time we can all go, that'd be awesome!"

Cannonball has posed:
Samuel Guthrie says, "Well we have to work on making sure he is comfortable with it and such first don't want to force anythign on him"

Nightingale has posed:
Shannon nods. "Good idea. We'll figure this thing out, somehow." The evening passes with good company, cheery talk of helping the new kid, and some seriously good ice cream. Not such a bad night after all!
