Nick Fury has posed:
THE BRIEFING

Nick Fury leans over a table that shows a three-dimensional visualization of an atoll. "As you may know, we recently acquired a set of data from AIM--specifically, from this island installation--about a new operation of theirs involving miniaturization."

He swipes through the visualization, which moves to a new image: a dense metropolitan area.

"We've managed to decode some of the data that our agents recovered. Among them appears to be GPS coordinates. What we need to do next is some ground-level recon. Clearly, AIM's facility is in a highly populated urban area--here, in downtown Kiev."

Fury rubs his chin. "What we don't know yet is how much security is on hand, which we'll need to know for phase III of this operation, which will involve extracting the entire facility for SHIELD scrutiny."

"Any questions?"

Marcus Jameson (812) has posed:
As he looks at the facility and then raises an eyebrow. Looking over the Area and the maps of Kiev and he rubs his chin and says. "MAybe we'll get lucky and they'll accidently shrink their base down to the size of a Polly Pocket house. Without effecting the City around them." he says inhaling knowing that is un likely to happen. Still positive thinking.

"So this will be just Recon sir?" he asks debating how to proceed.

Aim is one of the more advanced groups out there. "We could take The Monster, my Hummer." he says with a smile.

Melinda May has posed:
Kiev. Ugh. At least it's June so it won't be completely frozen over. May looks at Marcus when he offers the use of a vehicle, and rather than pshaw so obvious a car offhand, she leaves it to Fury to decide. "Will it fit in the Bus?" Because there's not really any other way to get a ground vehicle to the Ukraine and back.

If she's given a choice, they'll go via quinjet and walk around the city. Less conspicuous.

Nick Fury has posed:
"I'll let you two make that decision," Fury says, standing up straight and folding his arms across his chest. "You'll be the boots on the ground. Recon boots, that is," he continues. "Don't tip our hand."

"However," the director adds, "I'll be going with you. This operation is of particular interest, so I'll stick around in mobile command. I'm getting a bit itchy for travel in something other than a helicarrier."

After a moment's pause, Fury looks to May. "Agent May," he says, "I hope you didn't have your mind set on piloting the entire way. I was thinking of taking a shortcut."

He grins and punctuates his statement with a loud laugh.

Marcus Jameson (812) has posed:
nods as he says. "The Monster is one of the Original Hummers, Granted I've improved it. It has bullet proof glass, ceramic armor plates in the door frame, Sound proofed, a sealed engine, with two snorkels so it can ford deep rivers. And is built to withstand just about anything short of a Direct RPG hit."

he says with a smile. "A GPS, and other bells and whistles. Such as a built in security system and anti theft tech. It can go off road, and thanks to some special parts (don't ask where I got them) gets 60 miles to the gallon of gas with a Top speed of 120 MPH on open straight roads. 4X4 Off road is one of the smoothest rides around." He says

Melinda May has posed:
May turns to look at Marcus. "Sounds as obvious as hell. Why not just stand in the middle of the street and yell, 'Hello, I'm American'?" Clearly, she disapproves. But, she also backs off after that initial snark. "If we were staying in the US, I'd say it sounds like the ideal bunker-buster." But, they're not.

Fury's almost uncharacteristic grin and laugh has her turning to stare at him. "Sir?" She's honestly a little worried now.

Marcus Jameson (812) has posed:
"That's exactly the point. Hide in plain sight. People know we are american, tourists, for what ever reason. What sort of festivals or events are in that region at this time. There has to be something." He says and then starts to check through some data pads looking for some sort of festival. Anything in the region that would help encourage travel to and through the area.

Nick Fury has posed:
"You want to bring unapproved tech on my ship, soldier?" Fury asks of Marcus. "I'm as upset about the ridiculous nature of that request as I'm impressed by the free time you had to put it together."

He shakes his head. "We'll fine-tooth that beast later. You want to blend in, you take a bulletproof 'chameleon series' Yugo. It looks like a piece of junk on the outside, but it'll keep you alive."

According to available data, there's no festival taking place, but there is a series of school graduations taking place in the city!

"At any rate," Fury says, "get your stuff together at meet me outside at the rocket bay in two hours."

TWO HOURS LATER

Fury stands on a retractable bridge that reaches out to the Bus, which is currently at a 45-degree angle. It also has a giant burner rocket attached to it.

"Put on your harnesses. We're taking the 'bug eye' to Kiev, via low-orbit trajectory. If we survive, it'll cut the trip time in half. A little something the eggheads have been working on," he explains.

Melinda May has posed:
May stands and stares at the Bus. Okay, she can see doing this to a quinjet, they're likely even rated to handle it. But... the Bus?

"Sir? Is she structurally sound enough to handle this?" And even if she is, do they want to put her through that level of stress just to get to the Ukraine a little faster? Again, why not just use a quinjet instead?

Marcus Jameson (812) has posed:
"Thank you sir. I needed something to do with the time I was laid. There are only so many reruns you can handle, before it's considered a form of torture." Of course h has some light Body Armor as well as some easilly consealed weapons carrying what he needs on him.

Coming out to see The Bus he raises an Eyebrow, "This wasn't put together by that 8 year old you have working in R&D was it?" he says as a joke but he does indeed have requested one of the Yugos Fury suggested as he asks May. "Are you Driving?" he wonders.

Nick Fury has posed:
"Agent May," Nick Fury replies, "even though SHIELD has the equivalent of an infinity symbol in its annual budget, we still have contractors that use the 'lowest bid' tactic. So--we're going to find out. And you may want to pray that the 8-year-old had a hand in it, Jameson."

He grins again and steps into the plane, holding on the wall to navigate its angled floor toward one of the cabin's seats. "On the plus side, there's no similar launch pad in Kiev. So, should we make it, we'll have a nice, long, easy ride back home."

Fury straps himself into one of the pilot seats and begins double-checking the Bus's systems.

Melinda May has posed:
May promptly claims the other pilot's seat, checking over the systems that Fury hasn't already with the ease of much practice. It's a very quick process to get them green-lighted despite May's reservations. "Sir, for the record, I still don't like testing thi launch system with the Bus." But, she knows it's going to happen anyway. Because Fury.

"All systems are ready." God help them.

Marcus Jameson (812) has posed:
As he laughs at that, "I said build by, not designed by." he says and he comes to make sure that everything he brought is securely locked down. Of course there is other gear they need for the mission as well. But still he buckles up nice and tightly. "Kids are some of the only orginal thinkers in the worlds. Besides anyone who can beat me at Chess three times in a row while doing therotical Physics on a black board. Has my respect." Granted it didn't stop him grom giving the Kid a noogie.

Nick Fury has posed:
"Strap in, folks! And hold on to your butts!" Fury cries.

Then, he begins the countdown process. The Bus is leaned back further, until it's at an 85-degree angle. Everything's been strapped into place, but it still rattles intensely as the rocket begins to fire.

BLAST OFF!

With an absolutely deafening roar, the plane screams into the sky.

For several long minutes, Fury is pressed hard against the back of his suit and his seat.

However, all the while, he can't help laughing. "So far ... so good!"

Marcus Jameson (812) has posed:
Just aas it was about to take off in a deafening roar Marcus was putting in ear plugs as he heard the blast off. "Whhhhhoooooo!" he calls out granted chances are he has his fingers in his ears. That enhanced hearing comes at a price, so he does take steps to protect himself as he smiles. "To Infinity and BEYOND!" he calls out as loud as he can despite the noice. Then as The Bus levels out, a couple of compartments spring open and out fly SNAKES!

Over a Dozen snakes fly out of a couple hidden compartments as they bounce around. Thanmkfully they are only Rubber and once Jameson has managed to catch a few and discovered they are indeed rubber over the intercom comes a recorded message. from an 8 Year old,

"JAmeson, now we are even for the noogie!"

Melinda May has posed:
May has also put on ear protection, and she is THIS close to trying to fight the Bus's controls while they accelerate toward low orbit. Holy crap this is uncomfortable, and she's done those maximum g-force tests used to determine how many Gs pilots can take before they pass out. (Fury likely knows that she can withstand 5.75 Gs unprotected before blackout.)

She says nothing the whole time, though she likely thinks very loudly. Non-stop cursing. In every language she knows.

Nick Fury has posed:
Once the bus reaches its burner detachment point, the plane rattles significantly less--even though it's still on its upward arc for quite some time.

Fury offers a sneer as the prank snakes fly all about the cabin. "May..." he says, "remind me to let you give the final update to the aerospace R&D team. I think they've 'earned' it."

The SHIELD director begins slowly reaching toward a number of system buttons and switches. "So--either of you want to test out how the Bus functions under a series of stressful situations?"

Yes, it's going to be a long flight.

SOME TIME LATER

The plane descends toward Kiev.

"We're going to maintain our sharp descent until we can level out below radar. We should come in too 'hot' to be noticed."

Marcus Jameson (812) has posed:
Marcus Jameson holding once of the Rubber cobras Jameson has his own smirk on his lips and will go about snatching all the rubber snakes he can and says. "You First Agent May." and he is clearly thinking about how to get the kid back as he says aloud. "Note to self Requistion three dozen garden snakes and bribe someone to get to his bed before he turns into the night." he says. Clearly he's not goign to be out pranked by that kid. and he says. "Still it's a great peice of work." and once they are more or less level he will unbuckle to get the few rubber snakes that werte out of reach to secure them.

Melinda May has posed:
May just levels a look at Fury. It's a look that says he's going to PAY for this. She might have learned it from a cat. The whole snakes thing she completely ignores. "I could be delighted to tell them what I think," she tells Fury in a VERY deadpan tone.

The rapid descent is nearly as harrowing, but it's not something May hasn't done before, even if it's like white knuckle driving through Atlanta, GA during rush hour.

Nick Fury has posed:
"Agent Jameson," Fury says, "you do anything else to a /child/--even if he's a prodigy--and we'll have a discussion you won't like. You're an adult and, ostensibly, a super-soldier. Act like it, soldier!" he snaps.

Meanwhile, on the outskirts of the city, a landing strip comes in to focus in the distance.

"May, this is all you," the director notes. "Looks like we should have enough room to slow down before we lose asphalt and the wheels blow off..."

Marcus Jameson (812) has posed:
As Jameson listens and nods, "Point taken sir. And understood." and he closes his eyes discounting the ideas and then as the Landing strip comes in he is making sure that he is strapped in not wanting to be bounced around as he starts putting himself into a head space for the mission. Relaxing his shoulders his body, doing what he was taught to avoid looking like a soldier. So that all he does is look like a man who does moderate to serious body building.

Melinda May has posed:
May scoffs at Fury's lack of faith in her piloting. Besides, the BUS has VTOL capability now that it's no longer being treated like a space shuttle. She uses just enough of the VTOL engines to slow them down so that they land and taxi neatly to the end of the runway. No fanfare whatsoever. Take that.

Nick Fury has posed:
As the plane lands smoothly and safely, Nick Fury allows himself a nod in May's direction. "Remind me to step up my boundary-pushing game, Agent."

Standing and shedding his harness, Fury walks to the Bus's central compartment--its mobile command center. He begins setting up communications equipment and walks to provide small devices to Marcus and May.

"These should pick up enough visual and audio frequencies to give us the data we'll need about the location of the AIM facility. Remember--we only want intel for the moment."

In the rear, the bulletproof Yugo sits and waits.

Marcus Jameson (812) has posed:
as he nods and says, "Understood sir. What are the directives if we get ousted sir?" and he will of course follow May Lead on this. But he does want information.
