Andrea pokes her head into the med-lab
Date of Scene: 23 September 2019
Location: Xavier's Med Bay Lab
Synopsis: The wolf is rebuilding her pack.
Cast of Characters: Rage, Triage, Samuel Morgan

Rage has posed:
The doors to the Med Lab swish open to reveal the mutant popstarlet Andrea who is dressed in a black and gold New Mutants uniform. Her shoulder length brown hair is pulled up into a high pony tail to stay out of her face. As she heads inside, she curiously is looking about to see who is on duty today as they oversee the patients. She has a vase filled with water and an arrangement of multi-colored flowers along with a plug-in radio. Sick people like music.

Triage has posed:
Triage wears no uniform yet but after some checking the guards allowed him to pass after leaving his quarterstaff in their care. He follows Andrea into the room and murmurs to her, "They took quite a beating but they should be on their feet eventually." He nods to the medical staff attending each patient and eyes the monitors showing their vital signs.

Samuel Morgan has posed:
After yesterday's brief burst of activity, Sam is asleep again, looking oddly peaceful where he lays. At some point while he was sleeping, someone finally helped him put on that jersey Ellie had gotten for him to hide the old scars and passed the IV line through the sleeve. Leads spill out of the neck of the jersey, attached to sensors that monitor his vitals, running in a disciplined braided clump over his left shoulder and down the side of the bed. The bedside table is barren... no books, no personal items, no snacks.

To one side of Sam lies Kitty, watched over by Lockheed and Peter Parker, while on the other side rests Shannon.

Rage has posed:
Furrowing her brows, Andrea heads over to place the vase of flowers on a table next to Kitty's bed, then gives a long stretch of her body. She has that patented look upon her face as her nose scrunches up and she rocks a bit on her yellow boots. She does not pleased obviously. "That's good to hear. Who is currently on the New Mutant roster?" She asks Chris as she turns to look at him seriously. "Myself, Laura .. " She trails off. "I think it's time we have a family meeting as a team and talk about how we are going to help comfort the students as role models and give them an outlet to air their concerns if they don't feel comfortable talking to the teachers. Sometimes it's easier for students to talk about their feelings to their peers."

Triage has posed:
Triage shrugs. "I don't know everyone, but there's you, Samuel here, Shannon over there ..." He pauses, frowning, possibly at the thought of two members having fallen to the Sentinels, although both should recover soon enough. "There's Mason, of course ... still a decent number." He steps forward to look for an outlet for that radio. "I agree about the other students. Most of them trust the teachers and staff, but talking to someone closer to your age can be helpful, especially if you have our ... unique problems." He looks to Sam again and recalls, "Sam took quite a blow to the head. He might need a skateboarding helmet. I should hit the shops to see what I can find in black and gold. It might need a custom job."

Samuel Morgan has posed:
"Y'mean I hit my head...?" There's not even a change in the tone of the monitors as Sam opens his eyes, slowly, as if trying to shoo away that pesky light that seems to be all around. By all accounts he was feeling much better the day before, but hasn't been awake since. Not even to eat. "Wasn't my day, huh?"

Rage has posed:
Furrowing her brows, Andrea looks a bit sad at the lack of a few names. It seems that 'her' team has moved on. "I see. What is it that Sam can do ability wise? What about Shannon?" Being that she and Mason came up together, she doesn't inquire about him. "Far as the helmet thing goes, whatever you find, let me know and I'll pay for it."

Always the Alpha, the senior popstar plucks a bit at the flowers in the vase to make them 'prettier' in a way to keep her hands busy. The sound of Sam's voice causes her to perk up a bit and she puts on her red carpet smile as she offers up a grin. "Good morning, Sam. I'm Andrea Jackson." 'The' Andrea Jackson. Mutli-platinum selling mutant popstar and activist, wearing an X-Uniform. "I brought a wireless radio if you want to listen to some music, and some wireless earbuds."

Triage has posed:
Triage checks the bedside table for proper position and height, and then beckons with a gesture to Andrea. "I'm not sure exactly about his powers. I was helping to get kids onto that bus and things were pure chaos. He'll take on Sentinels and in my book, that speaks volumes!" He looks to Sam and nods. "You got a severe concussion. Your head might be sore for a bit while the bones continue to heal. I don't /think/ that have any other serious injuries other than some nasty cuts and bruises."

Samuel Morgan has posed:
"Who?" Looking at Andrea with eyes that don't yet focus quite right, he might either still be muzzy, or ... has he never heard of her? What rock has he been living under?

Before returning the greeting, there's an almost hesitant movement of his right arm... checking to see if he's been tied to the bed, coming to the same pleasant conclusion as the day before, and finally offering his hand. "Thank you. Sam. Sam Morgan... Technopath." And he adds to that greetings, looking over to Triage for a moment. "Can I call myself the Sentinel Tamer? Feels like I should." A joke, a smile, hopefully a laugh... to hide that extra people around aren't just there to watch over the injured students. Some of them are there to stop Sam from hurting someone. So he continues to Andrea, giving a nod to Triage and then immediately regretting that, but going on regardless. "Should have seen him. Kept those kids together. Shannon too. Most of us wouldn't have made it out without them."

Rage has posed:
"Andrea." The girl says again to him. "I also go by Rage. Nice to meet you. I hope you feel better soon. I heard you're on the New Mutants. We got a lot of work to do once we get the gang together. We're gonna be real tight." She says with a smile to him before she casts a look to Triage. "So, we have a geo-kinetic, a technopath, Laura, Ellie and myself. What can Shannon do? What happened to Erika or Doogie? Is Brian still here also? He went by Isotope."

Triage has posed:
Triage looks to another bed in the lab where Shannon lies motionless but apparently sleeping peaceful. The display for her vitals isn't quite visible. "That's Shannon," he answers in a hushed, reverent tone and a frown of worry. "She heals people, only she does it by taking on their injuries or sickness. That's a dangerous gig, especially around here." Shifting back to Andrea, he nods. "Doogie and Brian are still here, somewhere. I'm not sure about Erika." When Sam praises his efforts, Triage smiles and shakes his head. "I'd have liked to do more but the kids needed to be safe, and that bus was the best place." He glances back to Kitty's bed. "That was a close call and we're not out of danger. Someone seems to have an endless supply of those tin cans."

Samuel Morgan has posed:
"I'm not part of a team." Sam clarifies, slowly and exactly, like someone who knows they're drunk and trying to sound sober. He's wearing a 'trainee' jersey though, and plucks at it for a moment. "Negasonic got this for me ... " A few hours ago? Yesterday? Last week? He doesn't actually know, and has to resort to reading the time and date off of someone's phone remotely. "... yesterday. Shannon is a healer, and a great cook." There's two more names he can make out in that list, and starts with the least ominous first. "Brian was there. Don't know what happened to him, he was helping with the younger students." It might start to become obvious that for Sam the battle wasn't confusing at all, or at least not the part he was involved in. "When you say Laura, d'you mean Laura Kinney? We're... similar."

It might be no surprise, then, that his next statement has a bit more of an edge to it. "Those things weren't what I was told to expect. Now I know what to expect. Next time will be different. For them, and their controller."

Rage has posed:
"Yes, that Laura. She's my best friend. We have gone through some hell together since we joined The New Mutants. Reavers, Sentinels, Friends of Humanity. We've fought them all together." Andrea says as she folds her arms over her chest. "How are you like her? Do you pop claws with a healing factor and go into full Rambo mode when angered?" On the topic of Shannon, she furrows her brows. "A healing power that hurts her when she uses it on someone? That sucks. In the heat of combat that could be useful or terrible if it takes out a second team member in an attempt to save the first. So, she's a situational healer then."

As she paces, she slips her phone out of her snug spandexy pocket and starts to tap away a couple of notes of the conversation. "Is Cannonball still our field leader or has it been passed on back to Mister Summers?" She gives a lick of her lips in thought, counting a bit on her fingers as she mumbles to herself. "You wanna be on the team?" She asks Sam curiously, brows lifting.

Triage has posed:
"Unless something slipped past me, Cannonball is still the go-to guy," Triage confirms. His eyes wander back to Shannon and he nods. "It's a hazardous gift but she'll learn to manage it. She was working with Josh Foley to learn about that." Then he turns to Sam and wonders, "Technopathy? Since the Sentinels are pure technology, if you have some clues about how they might work, someone in R&D might benefit from picking your brain about how to counter them before they can attack." He grins when Andrea asks Sam about being on the team. "Now there's something to ponder while you're on your back in here. You helped the kids, too. They need guidance from peers who've looked trouble in the eye."

Samuel Morgan has posed:
"No to the first two. The third... We grew up very similarly." Sam will leave it at that. "She's my sparring partner."

He looks over to Shannon with a smile and then turns to look at the ceiling. It's nice and featureless. Unfamiliar ceiling... he's gotten used to those. And while he looks, he lets his mind wander over the encounter, narrowing his eyes slightly. "I was told they were autonomous. They're not. Whatever was controlling them... didn't like me very much. And I'm pretty sure it now knows I exist."

The question catches him slightly off guard. "Cannonball told me about the team on Friday. He said it was my choice. I told him... told him that I'd have to think about it. Because that's something for heroes, and on Friday I knew I wasn't hero material."

"Still don't know for sure. I think I feel a lot like Negasonic does... extreme prejudice... been told that's not acceptable for a hero." Blink. Sloooooow blink. A pump next to his bed hisses as it injects something into the IV line, and those bright blue eyes grow fuzzier again. "Ich bin kein Engel, Gott weiss Ich konn niemals ein Engel sein."

Rage has posed:
"Not all heroes wear capes, Sam. I didn't create the New Mutants to be heroes. I created this team so that we can be student ambassadors and to be role models for those who are scared and afraid of the big world out there that hates us. I believe in the mission statement that Charles Xavier set for us, that we can all live in unity, but it takes time, understanding and conversation. While we will train 'as a team' to ensure that we can protect each other when we need to, our overarching goal is to protect the students and to be something of an emotional support line for them. It's not to be Junior Avengers and go out into space and pick a fight with aliens. We're kids first." Andrea speaks with conviction as she steps up to the side of his bed to peer down at him.

"So, from what Triage says, you're a hero. You put your neck out for the kids. So, here's the thing. You heal yourself up, and then if you want to be /amazing/, you come find me. There's more to being a weapon, and Laura is proof of that. She's also my sparring partner." She says with a wink. "And I can hold my own. Maybe you and I can work out together and see how we fit. I want to talk to Shannon also when she feels better, touch base with Brian as well. Get the band together and talk about next steps. I feel that the purpose of the New Mutants is even more important now with those tin cans taking shots at us. The students need to feel supported and I plan on executing that."

Triage has posed:
"You're no demon either," Triage counters. "If they only took angels into the club, Shannon might be alone." He hears the hiss that is familiar to anyone who often visits hospitals. He nods. "You heal first. Rest and get back to your feet." He nods to Andrea. "You've planted the seed. He'll have time to think about the rest. Ellie seems rough but I'm sure that even she isn't beyond hope, or she wouldn't be here."

Samuel Morgan has posed:
No greater pathos than a weapon with no war to fight. Until a few days ago, Sam had made peace with that. Now... he saw those Sentinels, saw that beam come within feet of the fleeing younger students, and the memory makes the anger rise again. The sound of the gunshots, the knowledge that he was standing between the innocent and danger, no thought but for their safety, churning through tactical options and coming up with what to do on the spot. Protecting the innocent, this time, rather than ... rather... The thoughts have his heart racing now, and the monitors don't like it one bit. "Tell Herr Kanonenkugel... I'm in." The hiss sounds again, and with a sudden release of muscle tension, Sam's eyes close.

Rage has posed:
A proud smile spreads along Andrea's lips as she leans over to press a kiss to his forehead when his eyes close. "You're gonna look awesome in spandex." She says jokingly before she rises upwards and places the radio and headphones on the table. She gives a nod to Triage and smiles before she starts for the door. "I'm going to hit the Danger Room up and work out some frustrations if you want to back me up. I hope you got a strong stomach though."
