Letting the fur out in the Danger Room
Date of Scene: 25 September 2019
Location: Danger Room - X-Men Base
Synopsis: Andrea and Samuel rumble in the DR and impress each other.
Cast of Characters: Rage, Beast, Samuel Morgan, Cannonball

Rage has posed:
Down in the Danger Room is Andrea, who is currently in the midst of a workout. Dressed in her gold and black assigned uniform, the popstar is currently sparring with a number of combat bots at a medium difficulty. Challenging enough to make her constantly move about the room, dodge and duck, she appears to be putting on a show. Through the speakers the song Brain Power from Noma is heard rumbling at a frantic pace to help build some excitement and adrenaline.

The robots continue to advance upon her, firing lasers from high powered rifles, as well as using some aggressive hand to hand positoning. As 'Rage' spars, she can be seen throwing quick strikes with her wrapped fists, hard kicks designed to tumble and disarm, as well as a bit of gymnastics in which she cartwheels and backflips away from blasters that smolder the walls and the floor.

Beast has posed:
Henry McCoy is watching Sam very carefully as he takes him down the secure elevator, and into the base. "Now, you're being given special leave to come train down here, because it may be healthy for you. Taking him inside, they see that Andrea is alerady working. "Alright, you'd better wait your turn then."

Samuel Morgan has posed:
On the way down, Sam-Bean keeps his face utterly impassive, having already taken this ride once before. Luckily he's still in his workout clothes, having only just come in from his morning run, looking forward to a bit more exercise. Four days in a hospital bed had left him... irritable.

The first thing he notices when entering is, of course, the music, followed closely by the exercise being run at the moment. He stands by the entry hatch, bouncing on his toes, fists clenching, as if eager to join that melee and just... cut loose. For once.

Rage has posed:
The longer she spars, the faster the difficulty appears to ramp up. The bots become less predictable, the blasts become more precise. As Andrea bobs about the floor, throwing combinations of fists and kicks into the machines, she ducks down and hip tosses one into another, then cartwheels over the two bodies into a spin kick hip level. Despite how fluid she moves, she is also a bit rusty, and it comes as no surprise that she finally gets caught off guard once the difficulty of the scenario grows.

There is a flash of red from a muzzle and Andrea takes the shot in the back, sending her tumbling a few feet forward with a loud noise of pain as smoke smolders from her uniform, revealing scorched fabric. As the four bots come down towards her, there's a low rumble in the chest of the New Mutant as she slams her fists against the ground, teeth bared, eyes gleaming.

It happens in a flash as the girl turns into a horror film monster, blurring upwards in a loud crack of bones as her body snaps, jolts and chugs it's way up into the war machine. Black fur ripples across her body as she gains three feet of bi-pedal wolf height. With a snarl, she launches herself off the floor, snagging one robot by the face, then slams it down into the floor with a loud crunch of metal, followed by eviscerating another with an uppercut of claws.

Beast has posed:
Henry McCoy pats Sam on the back. " I need to take a call, go train, i'l l check on you in a moment."

Samuel Morgan has posed:
"Yessir." Because of course, Bean is going to take that as tacit approval to get into the fray. Does it bode ill that he launches himself at the robots on the exact beat of 'Killer Machine' in the song?

Running full tilt, Sam approaches the robots from the side and rear, angling for the ones taking potshots at Andrea who, he notices with clinical detachment, has gained a bit of height and extra fur. File that away for future reference. He take the moments of approach as the chance to analyse the movement of the robots, their tactical plan, and their likely avenues of response to his sudden attack. And then, contemplation over, he's among them.

At point of closest contact, Bean kicks off with his right foot and launches himself, practically horizontally, at two robots close together. The leading one gets Sam's right arm around his neck while the trailing bot is kicked viciously in the cranium with the left foot. Using the kick as leverage, Bean twists around the first bot, wrenches its head clean off its shoulders and uses it to crush the chest of the trailing bot... a series of moves that seemed to come right out of the Black Widow play book, except with excessive violence in the mix. Bright blue eyes scan around for more targets, and before long Sam, Bean to his friends and Techno to some, is among the bots... seemingly having the time of his life.

Beast has posed:
Henry McCoy hangs back, watching the students from the control room, on his phone call regarding some fund raising for the X Corporation. Whatever they may be talking about, he's not listening into.

Rage has posed:
Adrenaline is pumping. Adrenaline is pumping. Generator. Automatic Lover. Atomic! ATOMIC! OVERDRIVE! Blockbuster. Brain Power! Call me a leader. Cocaine! Don't you try it. Don't /you/ try it! Innovator. Killer Machine. There's no fate. TAKE CONTROL. BRAIN POWER.

LET THE BASS KICK!

O-oooooooooo AAAAE-A-A-I-A-U- JO-oooooooooooo AAE-O-A-A-U-U-A- E-eee-ee-eee AAAAE-A-E-I-E-A- JO-ooo-oo-oo-oo EEEEO-A-AAA-AAAA

As the chorus of the song hits that sweet spot and rampages on, Rage's heart pounds along in time with the tempo as she continues to fight, ears slanted, teeth pulled back over her muzzle. Another robot is ripped to shreds with components flying across the room. A few laser blasts scorch her fur moments before the rifles are silenced with a snarl and another raking of ebony claws.

As 'Player 2' joins the fray, one ear swivels towards the new combatant, recognizing that of Techno from the Med Bay. The heavy breathing comes out in loud rumbles of her chest as she gives him a jerk of her head upwards before the next wave of danger launches towards them in the form fast moving saw blades being launched from what appears to be a mixture of man and machine. Reavers. It seems that Andrea is playing some of her greatest hits back.

Samuel Morgan has posed:
It was... liberating to be able to vent pent up energy and aggression on these robots. Kicking, punching, twisting apart limbs and beating another robot with them. Glorious. In short, Bean is having fun. So much fun, in fact, that he's actually smiling, even as he's blocking strikes from metal limbs with his own non-augmented ones. Until, suddenly, there are no more robots to fight.

With the beat of the song in his ears and his heart, Bean turns just in time to see the saw blade come and throws himself flat to avoid it. Enemy with superior ranged capability, at distance. Solution, upgrade own ranged capability. As he's down, he grabs a rifle from a fallen bot and flip-kicks himself upright again.

The weapon is awkward in his hands, too big and bulky, and he fights it even as he's firing at the Reavers. Poor shots, very poor shots, at best only good enough to suppress while he tries to find a way to close the distance.

Rage has posed:
With Techno taking the role of DPS, Rage will obviously by the off-tank in this meta of two in the Danger Room. Being the bigger target, she steps right in front of the smaller teenager and takes a blade across the chest and along her shoulder as wounds rip open through her fur. She leans down and grabs a robot and hikes it up as if it was a shield to block another blade so that the young man may fire around her and use her as a blockade.

The song changes also, another adrenaline filled beat of chaos. It appears that Andrea has really set the tone of her workout with power pulsing beats designed to create a frenzy.

When the robots go to re-load, Rage drops the shield in her large paws, turns and hikes Techno up instead with a wide grin upon her beastial face. Is she going to eat him? My, what big teeth you have, popstar.

Instead, she whips herself around and launches him over the heads of the Reavers so that he can close the distance, then barrels after in pursuit on all fours. A New Mutants version of a Fast Ball Special.

Samuel Morgan has posed:
Lights, beats, loud sounds designed to disorient or pump more adrenaline... it's a training regimen that Bean is all too familiar with, although he'll happily admit it's a lot more pleasant with music. As soon as the blockade appears, he goes down to one knee and fires from around the living barricade without a word being spoken. Shots get more accurate, but they're still not great. Bean is not a fantastic shot with a rifle, it seems.

He has a notion of what might be in Andrea's mind when he gets lifted up, the music seems to suggest that the action is only going to get more frenetic. The rifle is ditched just as he gets hoiked across the room, and Techno curls up in a ball for greater distance, twisting and flipping over as he lands. There's enough kinetic energy there that he actually skids, cheap sneakers failing to provide enough traction, but he makes up that last distance in a matter of moments, assaulting the Reavers from the rear. And after his first kick, one of them at least is going to need a new knee.

Rage has posed:
Barreling down upon the Reavers when they become distracted by the flying teenager over their heads, Rage rips the torso off one who's lower half is in the form of a tank, then slams the top half down upon the ground. She works in unison with Techno in and out of combat until the last bot falls and the training program ends with a hiss and clank.

Breathing heavily, Rage rumbles out to bleed off the last of the adrenaline, then shifts back down to her teenage girl form with another round of loud twists, pops and cracks of bones that surely has to be painful. Thumping down upon her rear, she leans forward and grabs her knees so that she can catch her breath. ".. I need to step my cardio up." She coughs loudly. "Hey Sam. Good to see you outta bed."

Samuel Morgan has posed:
It's a vicious fight. An unfair fight. Reavers versus Rage and Techno hopping with adrenaline? Squeamish viewers, please look away.

When the last one falls, Bean is practically trembling, looking around for more targets, knuckles abraded from slamming into metal repeatedly, not even feeling the myriad of bruises... Until with a deep breath, he seems to bring himself back under control, eyes closing and fingers flexing. When he opens his eyes again, he looks more... normal. Or as normal as Bean ever gets. He doesn't even seem to be out of breath. "That. That was fun. Hi."

Rage has posed:
Pushing herself up to her feet, Andrea pulls her hair up behind her into a pony tail and then wipes the sweat from her brow with the back of her hand. "Yeah, it was. Those are the Reavers. Half machine, half man. They hate mutants and augment themselves to become weapons. They've tried to kill me a few times. I haven't seen them in almost a year now though since our last skirmish." Throwing a few punches outwards to keep her shoulders limber an dloose, she flashes a grin to him. "You got a little ninja in you. I could learn a bit from you. Most of mine is from pure instinct and trying to use my senses. You seemed to be almost automatic in how you moved."

Samuel Morgan has posed:
"Muscle memory." Bean admits, and holds out a hand for Andrea to pull herself up. "Conditioned responses, mostly, works against most groups. Not that great one on one with people who know how to improvise on the spot." He gives the other mutant a smile. "Basically instinct by any other name, really."

Cannonball has posed:
Samuel Guthrie got the message that Andrea had set up a Danger Room session, and had made his way to the control booth. Sam the elder had made sure the window that would reveal him to the students was opaque so he could watch without their knowledge. He stands there hands behind his back somewhat parade rest stance. The com will open up as he says "Not bad, need a bit more attention to your environment, and want to see a couple rounds without the music, with more real world noises, to make sure ya don't get used to the rhythm and be awkward without it." Is the first hint the teacher/leader of the New Mutants was there.

Rage has posed:
Reaching up to take his hand, he can probably feel Andrea's pulse racing beneath her skin. It's as if she is sped up, despite acting calm and casual. "So, you got to see my big secret. The world doesn't know about it. They just know I'm a mutant, but it's not good PR to turn into a werewolf and throw robots around." Glancing upwards and towards the booth, she gives an amused grin. "Hello Mister Guthrie. It's good to see you again. I'm ready to get back to work and running drills again. I'm already catching up on what you have on file with the current members of the team. I've missed you."

Samuel Morgan has posed:
"Your secret's safe with me." Bean smiles, very much aware of what it's like to have skeletons in your closet. "Have to say though, that's a pretty awesome skill to have. You've got good control over those claws." His hoodie wasn't even ripped from the Fastball Special.

His attention snaps to the control booth once Sam's voice calls out, and Bean comes to absolute rigid attention, as if on a parade ground, responding automatically. "Yessir."

Cannonball has posed:
Samuel Guthrie still needs to work on the other Sam being comfortable with the whole leader thing but it is a work in progress to relax the younger man. He will smile a bit and it can be heard in his voice. "Well you picked an interesting time, have some team building and leadership building exercises planned for next couple weeks. Ah want to see how each member of the team handles being in charge in the field." He will tell them. Some of you may find it awkward but it is a good thing to have at least some experience with as you never know what is going to happen in the field. " He will pause "And it is good to have you back Andrea, Ah do need t chat with you soon about non school business if you get a moment sometime soon.

Rage has posed:
It doesn't seem that Andrea is uncomfortable with the idea of being a field leader. She gives a nod of her head again in understanding, followed by a gentle nudge of her shoulder against Sam's to try and loosen him up. "I've been a mutant for a few years now, I've had the practice even before I came to the school. It's just easier to let her out now that I'm amongst my peers and I can be normal." She shifts her jaw curiously at Cannonball's statement. "Oh? We can get lunch then if you want. I just need to hit a shower and change into my civilians and I'll be good."

Samuel Morgan has posed:
Leadership exercises? Oh dear. Yes, Bean is aware of the necessity of having more than one person that is command capable in the field, but that doesn't mean he has to like it. The nudge shifts his rigid posture a bit, and the flash of irritation at being jostled while at parade is instantly covered with a smile when he remembers that he's not. And that he's among, if perhaps it's too soon to call them friends, among people who don't actively seek to do him harm. So he relaxes.

"I will keep that in mind, and I have some ideas myself for a more... realistic scenario. But I think I need to hit the showers myself, or I'm going to be late for class."

Cannonball has posed:
Samuel Guthrie nods, and says "There will be at least one obvious danger room appearance, and one that will be in the appearance of civilian scenario for each of you. It will hopefully be educational for both you guys and myself." He will tell them, and to Andrea, he says "That works, meet you in the kitchen in half an hour or so?

Rage has posed:
"Yup, I'll see you in about thirty, unless I fall asleep in the shower. If that happens, just flush the toilet a few times upstairs, that'll get me moving again." Andrea jokes, then gives another nudge of her hand against Sam's arm. "Thanks for the fun. Can't wait to do this again with you soon. Next time, you run the scenario." She says, then starts off as she snags her backpack and towel by the doors before they swish open.
