Checking on Shannon, while catching up with Andrea.
Date of Scene: 25 September 2019
Location: Medical Lab - X-Men Base
Synopsis: Shannon lands herself in the medbay from a healing gone pear-shaped. She finally gets to meet Andrea; Megan, Andrea, and Shannon make some music, Sam and Kaydin pay a visit as well.
Cast of Characters: Cannonball, Rage, Nightingale, Pixie, Kaydin LeGraize

Cannonball has posed:
Samuel Guthrie has gotten word that Shannon has ended up back in the medlab. He had intended to meet Andrea in the kitchen, but sent her word to meet him in the Med lab. He brings down food for the three of them. He walks in and looks around, and seeing Shannon "So, should ah engrave your name on that bed?" He will ask her, not seeming to upset at her at least.

Rage has posed:
After taking a shower and getting dressed from her Danger Room session, Andrea is wearing a pair of designer skinny jeans with a loose fitted Xavier's sweater and a guitar over her back. The popstar is walking casually next to Sam with a smile on her face as she lifts a hand and waves to the familiar faces that she passes by throughout the mansion. Once they step into the medical lap, she sombers a bit for those who are injured, looking curiously over towards the girl that is pointed out by the staffer.

Nightingale has posed:
Shannon actually flinches a little bit, despite the outwardly teasing tone from Sam, looking more than a little sheepish. What looks like a mess of smaller cuts on her face have the appearance of being well on the way to healing, so it seems likely those were less severe. She's got bandages wrapped around her hands, and the johnny covering her seems to be catching on bandages beneath, perhaps on the chest and torso. There are some on the arms and legs as well. What the holy hell's bells happened? She tries to smile a little bit for his sake, more than a bit sheepish. "At this rate, I'm starting to wonder." Her eyebrows go up as she spots Andrea not too far behind him, glancing between the two.

Cannonball has posed:
Samuel Guthrie says, "Well kiddo, Ah take it you ended up helping this Jeremy out." He says more of a statement than a question. "You do know there is a thing as exercising your power to much sometimes." He teases again, but carries the food over putting it on the table, and he has meatball subs and chips for all tree of them. A tea, for himself, Andrea's prefered drink, and a rootbeer for Shannon. "Shannon, Ah would like you to meet Andrea, Andrea this is Shannon. Shannon's power allow her to take an injury from another onto herself, and heal it quicker than the original would but she has been a bit over active of late. Andrea is a returning student, been out on tour for a while, but back for a while Ah believe."

Rage has posed:
Nodding her head, Andrea has a drink that looks to be a large glass of ice water with a piece of pineapple and orange floating about the middle to give it some flavor. "I've heard. It's an interesting power, that's for sure. I hope you feel better soon. I know how these beds aren't the most comfortable from experience." She says with a warm and sunny smile on her face. "It's nice to meet you, Shannon. I'm Andrea Jackson." She says in a friendly tone. "I brought a wireless radio and some headsets down the other day if you find yourself bored and want to listen to some music or talk shows. If there is anything else you need, I don't mind snagging it for you."

Nightingale has posed:
Shannon rolls her eyes and actually laughs a little bit. "How about snagging some common sense instead of thinking with my heart all the time?" she quips. Though she moves as if to offer her hand, what comes at Andrea is a bandaged mitt of a thing. "On tour, huh? Sounds a little like Mason." There is definitely a tell-tale blush there, and more than a bit of a smile. "And thanks... this one kind of went south real fast. I hadn't intended on taking on the whole thing, but once things got rolling, it was take them on or the kid was likely to be in a world of hurt. It was... really strange, though."

Cannonball has posed:
Samuel Guthrie s will quickly change the subject off Mason letting those two argue that one out when both are healthy. "Well Ah know you well enough that someone is hurt your going to help, but maybe you learned a bit from this and might keep you from over doing it some, but does make me wonder something we will need to work on with your power. If your able to take on part of someone's injuries but not all of them. You might be able to take on enough to stablize someone but let them heal a bit on their own till your able to take more of the injury. " he hmms, and says "Worth checking in on it, but anyways, so you were in here and wanted to check in on you, and let you know, going to be running a few extra danger room sessions over next couple of weeks.

Rage has posed:
Furrowing her brows, Andrea opens her mouth, then closes it as Sam appears to cut her off. She shifts her thumbs into the belt loops of her jeans, rocking on her sneakers. The hair on her arms have pricked up a bit, which she smooths down with a brush of her hand as she rubs at her goosebumps. "I am looking forward to the extra work of course. I made sure to study ahead during the summer, so academics wouldn't be an issue." She assures Sam with a quick smile upon face.

Nightingale has posed:
Shannon is not blind to the sudden shift in mood; her brows furrow, not quite understanding why the change, more than a little concerned. "What's wrong, Andrea?" Her wings ruffle a little bit behind her, the teen more than a little tense and worried. This seemed to be her day for really stepping in it, clear up to the hips! Crap. Maybe it was time for a change of subject. "So ummm... looks like you play guitar? That's one I always wished I could. Just a little piano here. Very badly. Maybe a little composition."

Cannonball has posed:
Samuel Guthrie looks to the two, and says "Shannon is pretty good, even if she does not give herself credit, we have another student around who has a musical interest as well. Dazzler was to teach some musical classes but not sure if she will be able to. But speaking of music, Ah was hoping to talk to you Andrea, about playing at club evolution on occasion while your back home.

Rage has posed:
"Yes, I play guitar. I also play piano." Andrea says as she gives a glance over to Cannonball for a brief moment. Her fingers rake along her arm briefly for a moment before she slips her hand into her pocket. "I have two multi-platinum albums and a Grammy nomination for female pop artist. I just returned from a three month European tour that took longer than I wanted to. I also have a mutant crisis hotline through my charity called StarLight. Several students here was found through it." It's the last part that she seems to take the most pride in it. She rocks back and forth on her sneakers and says to Sam, "But yes, I will be more than happy to perform at Evolution. I don't even need to go through my agents. I'll play for free and I'll run any publicity through my Social teams."

Nightingale has posed:
Shannon laughs a little bit, and nods to her laptop bag, which had been brought down sometime in the night, along with its necessary bits and bobs--a few of them geared towards music. "I can't claim anything that fancy. Maybe a song or two, but nothing that's been published." With some difficulty, and a distinct grimace of pain, she hooks her arm through the loop of her laptop bag and drags it up onto the bed with her. "Maybe we could play sometime... that'd be fun." She tilts her head a little bit, raising her eyebrows. "StarLight? Huh. Don't remember ever hearing about it before. Sounds like a good thing to have out there, though."

Pixie has posed:
Megan Gwynn had stepped into the medlab, also having heard that Shannon was recovering in there again..And also because she needed to stock up on some medical supplies after some minor scrapes in her latest training session. She hums lightly to herself as she steps in, peering around. The sight of her idol in the lab does cause her to smile a little, stepping towards her and the others. "Good morning! Good to see you again, Andrea!" she smiles and nods towards Samuel as well, although her gaze lingers on Shannon the longest, concern in her eyes. "How you doin', Shannon?"

Cannonball has posed:
Samuel Guthrie looks over and smiles offering Megan a nod in greeting. To Andrea he will say "Would be great, Ah know ya don't need the press that much but we have a few scouts show up for open mic nights, and the more big names, Ah get there the most scouts to help the new talent have a chance. Also we might look into seeing about tieing Starlight in with X-corp, or at least making sure they share some resources. Berto has started a company to help mutants and main office is in Bushwick."

Rage has posed:
"Sure, no problem." Andrea says to Cannonball. "Let Mister DaCosta know that I'm willing to sit in on a meeting and discuss a merger of Starlight if it means that the hotline and charity will have additional resources to have a broader range of influence to help young mutants." As she speaks, she holds herself as if she's in a board meeting, rather than a med bay and being a seventeen year old girl. This topic is obviously /important/ to her. The sound of her name though causes her business like exterior to crack for a moment, offering a smile. "Hey, Megan. It's good to see you again!" She says as she perks up a bit.

"I'd love to hear some of your music and maybe play with you. Megan here is also interested in getting together a bit of a jam session." The popstarlet says as she offers a welcoming smile to the injured girl. "If you want, I can play something for you all now on my guitar." She says as she slides it off her shoulder.

Nightingale has posed:
Shannon smiles brightly and nods, prying her laptop open. It's awkward, with her hands bandaged up, and involves a little bit of creative, somewhat colorful linguistics, but she manages to fire up her laptop and get to her music program. "That'd be great. What'll you play? Oh.. hey, Megan! I had no idea you did music, too... what do you play?" She's looking between all three, considerably cheered to find a common interest that had been previously unknown. "And Sam... if you have a hidden talent for music in there, that would just be the icing on the cake!"

Pixie has posed:
Megan Gwynn smiles and nods to Samuel, "Hiya Sam, still sending people to med lab with your training sessions?" she teases, arching a brow at the term Starlight. "Ooh, Starlight? What's that about?" she continues to beam at Andrea and nods, "Yeah, looking forward to it. Ooh, do you play too, Samuel? We should totally start a band...And that would be amazing if you could play something for us right now, Andrea!" Megan does peer curiously at Shannon's wounds, "I'm learning to play guitar, and I play a bit of piano too. It's kinda fun, but a slow process. Soo what *really* landed you in the medlab this time?"

Cannonball has posed:
Samuel Guthrie shakes his head, and says "Na, Josh is the one with the musical talent in the family. Ah aint quite bad enough that they asked me to not sing in church, but not the best. Ah guess when it comes to music, Ah more adjacent to music than part of it myself in the whole creating of it.

Rage has posed:
"I miss Josh. If you see him, tell him I said Hi." Andrea says to Sam as she settles in to a seat, putting the guitar into her lap. As her fingers roam along the strings, she begins to pluck away Landslide by Fleetwood Mac. Despite being a pop chart hit maker, it appears that she really has her heart stuck in her mother's generation of music. As she sings the lyrics to the group, she shows off her range in the form of a sweet tone with a hint of a rasp. No autotune or synthetics to her voice. It's just pure and raw. "I took my love and took it down. Climbed the mountain and turned around. And I saw my reflection in the snow covered hills till' the landslide brought me down. Oooh.. mirror in the sky, what is love? Can the child within my heart rise above? Can I sail through the changing ocean tides? Can I handle the seasons of my life?" She sings with emotion, as if this particular tune may hold something /very/ personal to her.

Nightingale has posed:
Shannon smiles, recognizing this song, and taking up a counterpoint to Andrea's singing. Her own voice is perhaps a little bit lower, a silky, smooth alto, one thing that was -not- damaged in the healing that landed her in the medbay.

Oh, mirror in the sky, what is love?
Can the child within my heart rise above?
Can I sail through the changin' ocean tides?
Can I handle the seasons of my life?

Pixie has posed:
Megan Gwynn's eyes widen as Andrea begins to sing in that beautiful honey rich voice of hers, her foot tapping to the rythm. This is one of her favorite songs. And then Shannon joins in, a perfect smooth and silky counter to Andrea's richer tone. She can't help but join in herself, her own voice a little less trained, a little less refined but with a higher, purer, bright tone to it:

Well, I've been afraid of changin'
'Cause I've built my life around you
But time makes you bolder
Even children get older
And I'm getting older too..

Cannonball has posed:
Samuel Guthrie will lean against one of the empty beds, listening to the trio singing. He smiles a bit, letting them sing not interupting, just enjoying the moment. He sips his drink quietly, and when they finish he will applaud softly, showing he enjoyed it but not to disturb if there is anyone else here.

Rage has posed:
As she listens to the other two sing, Andrea stops her own voice so that she can just play the notes from the guitar, glancing back and forth between the pair of young girls. She plucks away at each chord perfectly as she closes her eyes, rocking a bit back and forth in the chair, as if she was just soaking up the air about her. She picks up the last lyrics of the song, allowing her voice to carry in an airy tone of raspy falsetto.

Once the song comes to an end, she is quiet for a few moments before she lets out a small 'sniff' in her throat, then glances off to the side as she knuckles the corner of her eyes. She's goosebumped up again along her arms, depsite the air not being cold.

Nightingale has posed:
Shannon smiles and lets Megan take the melody this time, as her voice is perhaps more suited to the song than her own. Her own voice is far from trained, but there is potential there; at least it is steady, on key, and with a surprising smoothness. As the song ends, she lets out a low whistle. "Holy heck, you two are -good-. I've never heard you before, Andrea, but you've got a gift there." She smiles a little bit, glancing between Megan, Sam, and Andrea. "Do any of you know, 'I Hope You Dance'? Or, 'Arms of an Angel'?" Mention of the last brings a bit of a tear to her eye, that she makes no attempt to hide.

Pixie has posed:
Megan Gwynn seems to be really getting into the music, her dragonfly wings responding to her outpouring of emotions as they glimmer in a myriad of rainbow colors, from pinks to violets to shades of blue and even gold, sparkling with energy. Fortunately, she doesn't shed too much, so that only she is feeling a high off of all that good musicy vibe stuff. When in finally ends, she lets out a little breath and laughs. "Wow, that was well tidy! Amazing!" she giggles and nods, "Thanks Shannon! I just looove singing, it's so much fun.." of course she's nowhere as good as Andrea, but it's obvious that she has been practicing. "Heh, Arms on an Angel sounds right up your alley, Shannon.." she pauses, peering at her curiously..Was that a tear or.."Heeey, are you okay?"

Kaydin LeGraize has posed:
Kaydin walks into the med lab, not bluring in like he usually does but actually walking in. He had plate of chocolate chip cookies in his hand and he brings it to the women. "Not as great as your cookies, but still, I figured you could use some to help you feel better." He says as he smiles to them.

Cannonball has posed:
Samuel Guthrie smiles a bit and says "You do know Shannon, next time, if your gonna be layed up not to have to do your chores, it helps if you do it during the week ya lost the bet." He teases and moves to put a hand on her shoulder. showing he is just messing with her with that comment. He looks over to Andrea, and says "Ah will let Josh know, aint been back home in a couple weeks might make a trip soon." And to Megan, he will say "Ah did not know you sung also, seems we have lots of talent around here." He waves over to Kaydin.

Rage has posed:
"Yeah, I know both of the songs. My mother used to play them about the house." Andrea says as her fingers hesitate along the strings as she stares off to the side and to the floor. "I like the first one better than the other. Arms of the Angel is always played during those SPCA commercials and I always turn the channel as fast as I can." Her hands begin to finally move along the notes as they pluck out the Lee Ann Womack song, followed by her voice as she sings in that soft, slow and pure pace. Her foot lightly taps the floor beneath her to keep a beat that would take the place of the drums. She only sings the chorus once but she simply plays the guitar, looking thoughtful before she says, "I should get going. I have a workout to put in the gym, followed by some homework."

Nightingale has posed:
Shannon smiles a little at Megan and nods. "I'm okay. Song was kind of getting to me, plus a healing kind of went pear-shaped real fast last night. These aren't my own wounds." She frowns slightly, and looks over at Sam. "Man... the kid up there's probably wondering where I am. And I've got no idea how he is right now. I hate asking... but would you be willing to look in on him? His name's Jeremy." She pauses, resting her bandaged hand very lightly on Sam's arm. "And... be careful. Something's a little odd. Plus, I don't know how much he knows about what this place is. I didn't say anything to him about it, or about me being a mutant. But please, be careful." She smiles over to Andrea, and inclines her head. "Yeah, homework sucks, but ya gotta do what ya gotta do. Don't be a stranger?" Then... the smell of chocolate chip cookies makes her nose twitch, and she grins. "Kaydin, are you sure you're not the angel here?"

Pixie has posed:
Megan Gwynn beams at Samuel, "Yup, this is why I was soo excited to hear Dazzler sometimes plays at your club in Mutant Town! Maybe someday I can play there too?" she nods to Andrea. "Thanks for letting us sing along with you, still looking forward to a proper jam session with you!" Glancing back at Shannon, Megan rests a reassuring hand on her shoulder. "Sorry to bring up bad memories, you look like you've been through a lot. Need some rest? I should probably get going to class myself." She arches a curious brow at the name. "New comer around here? Sure I can do that."

Nightingale has posed:
Shannon shakes her head. "Not sure how the kid got here, Megan, and I'm not even sure if he knows we're mutants here. I didn't mention anything about me being one and well... yeah, I had an image inducer on. He sees wings, and it's going to be game over, he'll put two and two together." She smiles a bit. "I think we've all been through our fair share here. It's all good. We're here now, and we have each other. But yeah... it might be easier if Sam went. Kind of try to keep things on the Q.T., know what I mean?"

Rage has posed:
Offering a smile to the pair of girls, Andrea leaves her guitar behind next to Shannon's bed as she pushes up to her feet. "I'll catch up with you guys soon." She assures. "Hey Kaydin." She says with a grin to the speedster as she heads past him. "Good seeing you again, bro." With a two finger salute to Sam, she heads out as the doors swish open and then closed behind her.

Kaydin LeGraize has posed:
Kaydin offers the cookies to the various people there. He then looks to Samuel. "Practicing being slow once more. It's difficult. I have become so impatient." He says as he offers him a cookie. He then takes one and begins to munch on it.

Cannonball has posed:
Samuel Guthrie smiles and says "I will talk to Scott, and see if anyone has talked to him yet, and if not will go see him. will try to check on him for you even if someone has. To Kaydin he smiles and says "Good, you might not miss something normally cause of your speed, but you might miss stuff from other folks if you don't. to Pixie he says "We do have open mic nights for bands and such an an occasional karioki night

Pixie has posed:
Megan Gwynn nods to Shannon, biting her lip. "Right, I'll use an image inducer when I check on him then.." she was given one, although she rarely uses it, quite enjoying flying around. But these days are pretty dangerous. She pulls it out of her pocket, fiddling with it a bit before turning her hair a normal shade of brown and hiding her wings. She grimaces. "Not bad I guess. Seeya later!" she nods and beams at Samuel. "That's be really great! Keep me informed!" and with that, she heads off to check on the latest patient before rushing to class.

Nightingale has posed:
Shannon opens her mouth as if to say something, and closes it, shaking her head. "Gaah. The sooner I get out of here, the better. Then I can go look in on Jeremy myself." She shakes her head, and grimaces a bit. "Things just keep getting more and more awkward. Not sure what to do about this one. Something is... strange about the kid, and I'm not sure how much he's put together about this place. He already knew Triage and I could heal him, just not how. And then I'm in here, not up there in the wellness office... yeah, not sure what to do about this one."

Cannonball has posed:
Samuel Guthrie looks over and says "Ah plan on checking in on him, but want to make sure none have found out something importan tAh should know before going in there.

Nightingale has posed:
Shannon nods a little. "One, he's capable of magic. Two, his wounds had some blue stuff in them that he got out before I healed them. But earlier in the day, Triage got a couple samples of the stuff... one for Mr. McCoy, one for someone called... Doctor Strange? Three, that blue stuff is supposed to have had some sort of demonic influence. Not sure who or what this kid is... he was suffering and needed help. I tried to heal the smaller cuts on his face and it went pear-shaped fast." She nibbles on one of the cookies and smiles a bit at Kaydin. "This was really nice of you... thank you. And... slowing down's good sometimes. But what's it like for you when you do? I know you tried to describe once what the world's like for you when you're speeding around and everything."

Kaydin LeGraize has posed:
"My god it is so slow..." Kaydin says as he tries to make it sound like a big deal. He then looks to the two of them. "I have actually seen how fast a lightning bolt can strike. I am pretty certain I can outrun it." He says as he watches the two of them. "In the mean time we all got to be normal, even if it means hiding our true selves from people. Sometimes I agree with magneto, we shouldnt have to hide ourselves just to make other people comfortable."

Cannonball has posed:
Samuel Guthrie says, "Well hopefully with time, we won't and most of the folks who keep their identiy a secret are more keeping it as such for their family Ah think. Dr Strange is like a mega wizard, if things are magical he is the second person Ah would go to."

Nightingale has posed:
Shannon nods slowly. "Jeremy mentioned it being a dream of his to study under him. But when we mentioned possibly bringing him in for an opinion on that blue goo, he freaked out. It didn't make a lot of sense. That'd be like me freaking out over a hero of mine showing up out of the blue."

Cannonball has posed:
Samuel Guthrie says, "Well Ah will go see what Ah can find out, but you make sure you stay there and heal up for a while got it?"

Nightingale has posed:
Shannon chuckles a little bit, and tilts her head to one side. A light sigh escapes her. "Maybe someday, we won't have to hide. That's a day to look forward to, and work for." She settles back into the bed, looking a little frustrated. "There's slowing down, and then there's -slowing down-. That's... just... yeah, I've really got to learn to do partial healings somehow. Then perhaps I won't wind up in here as often as I do."

Kaydin LeGraize has posed:
Kaydin smiles at shannon. "You will get the hang of it." Kaydin says as he offers her another cookie. He takes another one and eats it quickly. He then looks around then to shannon. "Maybe you shouldnt heal people...It tends to be dangerous for you."

Nightingale has posed:
Shannon looks straight at Kaydin, shaking her head. "You ask me how can I heal others when it costs me so much. I ask you, how can I -not- heal them?" She tries to get another cookie from the plate; it's awkward for her to hold the cookie, and she drops it on her lap a few times before finally getting a grip on it. "I can't stand to see someone suffering, even if it means I'm the one who takes the fall for it."

Kaydin LeGraize has posed:
"Sometimes someone deserves that suffering." Kaydin says as he eats another cookie. He then looks to her. "Just dont give your life to bring another back. You die and I lose my only friend here." He says as he watches the girl.

Nightingale has posed:
Shannon raises her eyebrows. "The hell... you're joking, right? You're kind, great sense of humor, caring, look out for your friends... how is that even possible I'm your only friend? What about Sam? Or Megan? Or Andrea? Or anyone else here?"

Kaydin LeGraize has posed:
"Andrea and me got into an argument. I made the comment to her face that the wealthy oppress the poor. Samuel is a mentor teacher so he cant be a true friend. And the rest of the girls think I am a creep." Kaydin says as he watches her. "Ah well. Perhaps I am better off in seattle."

Nightingale has posed:
Shannon shakes her head, setting the cookie down. She reaches out with her bandaged hand and gingerly touches Kaydin's arm. "Don't say that. Look, the best of friends argue. Family argues. It's just part of being on this little blue dot we call home. Sam's a mentor and teacher to us all, but that's no reason he can't be a friend, too. Hell, he's like family to me, and I haven't even been here all that long compared to some. Yeah he still does the whole mentor thing sometimes, but that doesn't preclude anything else. So... I hope you don't go, and I hope you give being friends with others here a chance, too. Who knows?" She smiles a bit. "Remember those flowers you ran to France for? I still keep some of the lavendar. Don't underestimate the power of small things you do for others to make a difference, to touch a life for the better."

Kaydin LeGraize has posed:
Kaydin nods as he watches her. "Thanks." Kaydin says as he watches the girl. "I should probably go." He says as he backs up a little. "Need to check in with my brother back home." He says as he watches her before leaving to head for home.
