Lessons Are Important
Date of Scene: 26 September 2019
Location: Barbara Gordon's Apartment, Clocktower
Synopsis: Barbara proves to be an insideously good motivator of teenagers.
Cast of Characters: Misfit, Oracle

Misfit has posed:
There is a slash of purple and pink colored smoke as Charlie, aka the glorious and talented MISFIT, appears in the living area of the Clocktower breathing really hard.

Her domino mask is almost askew and her cape if ripped where the gang banger knifed at her as she battled them.

"That..." pant "Was... intense.... I can't believe there were two more of them inside the warehouse... I mean.. crickey how many of them were there!?"

Well they are all unconcious and ziptied now at least and she is home safe. Though it was .. intense for a minute there.

Oracle has posed:
Oracle slides her headphones off around her neck as she slips out of the chair up in the loft as Charlie appears in the center of the living area. The clock-face window is opac, but with a press of a button on the carried remote, it begins to become translucent enough to allow ambient moon-light to spill into the otherwise dark room.

"You did good, anyways. I want you to go back over the recording later and tell me six things you could have done differently." Said with a little grin as she pads on barefeet towards the kitchen beneath the loft. "Have you eaten?"

Asked over her shoulder.

Babs is wearing workout pants and a tanktop. Her red hair is all bundled up into a long ponytail hanging down her back. "And have you done your homework?"

Misfit has posed:
Charlie spins around whirling her cape around her as she does, someone got a bit of a second wind going thinking about the fight.

Well that or she still has a huge dump of adrenaline. She will be wiped out later perhaps.

"That was amaazing... um.. hmm.... I can tell you without looking at the footage that I probably should have counted all the gangsters I beat up and left for the cops .. in case one gets away.. so we can hunt them down for dark vengeancing..."

She peels her mask off and bouncs starts to get the cape and gloves off. "I'm starving and... no I have a little homework left to do..."

Oracle has posed:
"Yes, you should have.. but you should have counted them before you engaged." Babs says from the kitchen, pulling a tupperware container from the fridge to start dishing out chicken parm brought over by Alfred earlier in the evening. She pops it in the microwave and sets it to heat and grabs a bottle of juice in one of those reusable cups. It's the kind of juice she has to shake to keep the sedament from settling down on the bottom, which means it's probably good of ryou.

"You shouldn't just go into a situation half blind, Charlie. I know you have powers that the other Bats don't have, and I'd never tell you not to utilize them, but if you're precise... you wont have to." The redhead says, waiting against the counter for the buzzer to let her know the food is finished heating.

"You did do great though. I can see your training is starting pay off."

Misfit has posed:
Yeah the compliment just as the kid absolutely glowing, not literally but man she eats up the praise and acknowledgement like nobody.

"Well I didn't use them at all until those other two popped out of the warehouse.." she points out as she walks to the room she is using at this point. "I mean... how am I supposed to count them before I engage if they are hiding inside stuff.. I don't have x-ray vision." she pauses "Does batman's and batgirl's fancy cowls have x-ray vision!?" and she is off in her room, probably changing.

Which is confirmed when she pads back out of the room in a clean tshirt and pajama pants. "That smells great!"

Oracle has posed:
Babs rolls her eyes and shakes her head, but she's grinning despite it. Standing with her hip up against the counter and her arms crossed over her tanktop, "You wait.. if someone leaves, you tag them.. it isn't about numbers or how fast you can end it.. It's about doing it safely. You have powers, sure, and like I said... it makes you more plyable in an adaptive combat scenario, but you still have to use your most powerful weapon too."

DING. Babs pulls the plate out of the microwave and puts both drink and food on a tray that she carries out into the living room. "Your brain."

Motioning for Charlie to have a seat on the couch, tray held out to her. "You're smarter than they are... you can get where they cant and watch where they wont look. Patience wont hurt you, Charlie.. The fight will still be there after you're certain what, and how many, you're fighting."

"It is good." It's tacked on. "Alfred makes a mean chicken parm."

Misfit has posed:
"I was eighty percent sure you were going to say my brain... I thought maybe .. like twenty percent that you were going to say grit or courage or something... but brains.. that was definitely top of my list for most powerful weapon..." she sort of rambles amiably as she heads to the living room watching the food be delivered that way.

Which means her butt is in that sofa pretty quickly, though not using powers or cheating. She still isn't entirely comfortable with using them vs. using her fists really. Despite ..well .. having to when she got very outnumbered.

"Well patience would hurt in maybe a hostage situation.. but I get what you mean..." she mmms eyeing the juice suspiciously. "It is just .. very hard to wait sometimes..." she admits sheepishly. "Also why does that old British guy keep bringing us food sometimes?"

Oracle has posed:
Babs snorts into a quiet laugh and hands the tray off to Charlie, "Don't skip the juice. It's a power drink, everything you need to get your muscles the needed nutrients... you could have honestly just drank one of those... Batman prefers them to food..." Rolling her eyes as she too drops down into the cushion. One foot up as she turns to fold it beneath her.

The remote for the television is summoned up from the table, held out towards the massive flat screen to turn it on. As usual it's on a new station until she flips over to something more entertaining to play in the background.

"Mmm? Oh, Alfred?" She laughs quietly, shrugging with her head tilting towards her shoulder. "Many years ago I use to live up at Wayne Manor while my father... only for about a year though... but I kept in pretty close contact with Alfred and Bruce. Kind of like a sarogate father... You were up there for the auction right? Maybe sometime I'll take you for dinner." Musing, glancing sidelong with her lips quirking off to the side.

"I think you'd like Bruce.. maybe Damian too... Dick, if he's there, but he never is as much as he use to be."

Misfit has posed:
The juice is still given a suspicious look by the teenager, well until she is told that Batman prefers this juice to actual food. She picks it up an takes a big sip testing it out. Trying to figure out if she lieks it and if she could replace food with it in a pinch.

"Oh.. yeah... I didn't meet him at the charity party. I tried to bid on a couple things like you told me to... mostly the training with Captain America and The Wasp.. but ...I had no idea how much money people were bidding and got distracted talking to the Teen Titans that were there.... so I got very out bid."

"I did meet Mr. Wayne though." she eyes you as she takes a bite of the chicken now. "He said hello and reminded me he was friends with you." she squints at you. "It was... rather obvious I guess as long as someone knew how I ended up living here."

Oracle has posed:
Babs cants her head and holds her palms up when Charlie tries the juice, "It doesn't taste amazing, but it really is good for you.. I use to hate them." She admits. Now she drinks several of them a day, but then again she has the diet of a diabetic. Cereal and sugary snacks.... at least she use to. She's done a lot better about that since Charlie moved in.

"The most important thing is that you tried... and, as it turns out, I did bid on something. By proxy, I told Bruce how much I was willing to bid and won." She eyes Charlie mischievously, "I didn't buy it for me though."

Her feet uncoil from beneath her, hooking out to cross upon the black iron corner of the glass topped center-piece table. Her finger link together beneath her ponytail, "How would you like to be Yarl for a day at Club mjolnir?"

Misfit has posed:
Charlie continues on her chicken parm while she watches Barbara talk through it all there. She is honestly pretty obvlivious to the whole beter diet just because she is around. I mean as far as she knew you were a saint of nutrition and all that.

"Ooh.. I figured Mr. Wayne just wanted to be treated like royalty." she pauses and then considers the next bit there.

Honestly it isn't the instant excitement but rather thoughtfulness. "The owner.. Miracle Elle right... she had Mr. Wayne introduce herself to me.. and she said I had an interesting aura and then extended an invitation for me to come to Club Mjolnir actually. It was a little wierd... maybe you could be Jarl and I could come?"

Oracle has posed:
"If that's what you want. Have you heard the stories of what she did?" Babs wonders, turning her head against the pillow of her palms to face Charlie. If nothing, she's supremely good at distracting questions away from uncomfortable answers. Bruce Wayne, training, Babs living there.

"I also got this invitation to go to Themyscira.. not sure if I mentioned it. Diana Prince came to visit with Stephanie... she found some ancient artifact weapons and armor in an auction that she was going to add to Tim's museum.." More people to introduce Charlie to, "They turned out to be Amazonian weapons and armor... so she invited Stephanie and I to Themyscira... and I figured, if you wanted, and you did pretty good this semester.. you could come along."

Misfit has posed:
True, though Bruce did it to test to see if Charlie could put it together. So it is bound to come up again later and probably more directly at some point.

"Okay. That would be amazing. I mean.. Wonder Woman.. the Island of the Amazons..." she narrows her eyes "you are getting pretty adept at this whole bribing teenagers to get good grades really.... it is a bit spooky how good."

Oracle has posed:
"I had a good teacher." Babs lounges backwards, yawning despite not really being tired, and grinning off to the side at Charlie. "Besides, if all parents had the ability to offer these things, we'd have a lot smarter kids running around, wouldn't we?"

She bobs her shoulders, bouncing her hair, and looks back up at the television. "So, I'm thinking As and Bs should suffice for going to the Island of Amazon's... but I'd be willing to sweeten the deal if you could bring in all As.."

Misfit has posed:
Charlie has polished off the food at this point, she eats like food is going out of style. Though she did spend several months homeless so it may have something to do with it right. She leans to set the tray and plate on the side table by the couch now.

"Insideous... are you sure you were batgirl and not some sort of dastardly supervillain before retiring in your clocktower lair Babs?"

Oracle has posed:
"Maybe I still /am/ a dastardly supervillain!" Babs 'mwahahahas', but her mawahahaha definitely needs work. "I wanted to learn for learnings sake, but not everyone has the inclination to bury themselves in books without insentive. I think you're a lot smarter than you give yourself credit for." She shrugs and settles back into the couch.

One hand moves to bring her headphones up over an ear, then lets it drop after listening to the comm chatter between officers. "So if I can encourage you to learn, by offering insentives, that's doing right by you.. You might think you always want to be a vigilante... lord knows I thought it.. but maybe you wont. And I'd very much like for you to have a fallback plan if you don't."

Misfit has posed:
Charlie laughs at the absolutely bad mwahahahahs. She shakes her head in mock disbelief. "Don't buy it.. you are friends with Batman and he is a good judge of character I think." teasing.

"As for motivation..well like I said you have it down .." she finishes her juice then slips to her feet to bus her tray to the kitchen area. "I don't know what I would want to fall back on. but I get it."

Oracle has posed:
"Is he?" Babs wonders allowed, but shakes her head out of the thought. Not the time, not the place. She watches, instead, Charlie pick up the tray to carry it back into the kitchen with a grin. Small steps, little tiny baby ones.

"You're young, yet. I didn't know I wanted to be a world class hacker with a multi-million dollar security firm when I was your age either.. I just wanted to run around kicking badguy ass like Batman and Robin." Her feet drop down off the corner of the table so she can sit up in the couch to rub both hands down the inside of her eyes. Pushing against the crease near her nose, "Wasn't until after I'd done that for a few years that I figured out it isn't as glitz and glamor as I thought... but..."

She shrugs and pops up to her feet in a little hop, "It's Gotham, so you get what you pay for." She's headed back up to the loft that connects to Charlie's room, "Finish up your homework and I'll load the training program on the computer. Once you're done, I'll let you play around with that for a few hours before you have to get at least a few hours sleep for school."
