Cast of Characters: Lois Lane, Invisible Woman

Lois Lane has posed:
It's afternoon, late afternoon, but the Daily Planet is still going full steam ahead.

The late night edition has yet to be finalized and so, people continue to work; quite diligently.

The clickety-clack of a dozen keyboards can still be heard, as various reporters, media bloggers and researchers still work hard at their desks. One such person is Lois Lane. She's squinting at her monitor as she considers the last sentence she just typed. With a grimace the black-haired reporter angrily button mashes the delete key. "No, still clunky." Lois grumbles, before she finally straightens from her half-hunched over position. With the vaguest of groans the reporter finally rises to her feet, "Coffee. That'll fix this."

And so, one of the Daily Planet's Ace reporters steps away from her desk and winds her way slowly through the maze of desks, in search of her favored drink.

Invisible Woman has posed:
Little does Lois realize she's being followed. A little blonde girl 'SOMEHOW' made her way into the reporters area and found Lois. So when Lois started from her desk, she's greeted with 'HIIIIEEEE!!'.....by a little four year old girl. Who had already brought her coffee.....with a little bit of something swirling around in it. it looks like cream. "I hope you don't mind, but I brought you some coffee already, Miss Lane."

Such is the cute of Valeria Richards.....

Lois Lane has posed:
You know, if it had been a normal hello Lois likely would have been okay. However, that particular greeting was a bit more enthusiastic and loud and so, Lois Lane, Star Reporter, jumps. There may have even been the vaguest sound of surprise and fright from her, but who's listening, right?

With abrupt turn, Lois Lane will pivot upon foot and turn to see who's behind her, words ready to leap off her tongue, "What in the -" And that's when her brain catches up with her tongue - four year old, don't swear, don't swear!

Then Lois' gaze turns surprised, but for another reason altogether, as she recognizes Valeria. "- ... Valeria Richards? Uhm, thank you." Lois says, even as she accepts the cup of coffee that's offered to her, "What're you doing here? Where's your mom?" She'll finally end with, even as her gaze looks up briefly to see if she can find the little girl's mother.

Invisible Woman has posed:
"Mommy went to get some coffee for Unca Ben, but then there were police cars so she told me to stay in the Daily Planet building. She just didn't say where." Valeria then puts the coffee on her desk. "Hope you don't mind a little bit of chocolate powder in your coffee. I did that for Unca Ben a coupe of times....made his lips turn brown. That was funny." She then giggles and sits in the chair next to her desk. "Whatcha doooin'?" Adorable attack number two.

Lois Lane has posed:
"Police cars?" Lois says, her gaze sharpening, "I'm surprised someone didn't say anything." And already the reporter's brain is going into overdrive, an internal debate starting on whether she should go investigate. See what's happening out there. That idea of investigating dies, however, when Valeria speaks up again.

Wait. She can't just leave the little girl here all by herself.

The question about cocoa powder in her coffee earns a look from Lois. "Well, I like hot chocolate, so I don't think I'll mind the addition." Replies the reporter with a smile, even as she steps back to her desk and that waiting cup of chocolate coffee.

Lois will sit back down, once Valeria takes a seat near her desk. There might be a slight awkward pause from Lois, but thankfully Valeria takes it upon herself to fill up the silence with a question. That question is something she can answer too. "I'm finishing an article." And Lois will turn her monitor slightly for the young woman to see. Two pages of text can be seen typed out already. "It's going to go in the the morning edition of the Planet."

Invisible Woman has posed:
"Article, huh? Anything like what you usually do with Superman?" Valeria says as she leans over the desk. She seems to read pretty fast. "I like the article. Doesn't seem finished though."

It's now that the elevator dings and the doors open....to the cry of 'MOMMY!' from Valeria as Susan Storm-Richards walks out.....and walks straight to Valeria to hug her. "What are you doing up here, Young Lady? Didn't I say to stay put?" 'No mommy...you said to stay in the building....and I'm still in the building.....technically.'

Sue sighs and facepalms before looking to Lois. "I'm Sorry she bothered you Miss Lane."

Lois Lane has posed:
A twitch of her lips might be seen as Valeria asks whether it involves Superman. "Not with Superman this time, no." Begins the reporter, even as her gaze turns back to the unfinished article. And when Valeria offers that praise of hers, as well as that advice, Lois can't help the rueful look that turns towards the four year old. Her next words, however, might be drowned out by the ding of elevator and then the screech of mommy. "Precocious, aren't you."

And truly, there's really no heat within those words of hers, just dry amusement.

Rising from her seat, Lois will walk towards Sue. "Lois, please." Says the reporter, "And she wasn't a bother. Really." Then there's a head-tilt, "Valeria mentioned police were involved? Everything okay?"

Invisible Woman has posed:
Sue rolls her eyes before she picks up Valeria. "I swear, you have a mind like Reed." She then turns to Lois. "Yeah, the two robbers are in custody. Apparently someone tried to hold up a Shangbucks down the street. The Police did most of the work, but I was the distraction. The silly guy had a tommy gun....a TOMMY GUN!" Even Valeria giggles. "I mean.....don't they have those in Gotham as 'state of the art?"

Sue sits, butthen Valeria plops herself on Sue's lap. "Doncha wanna know how I got up here?"

Sue sighs. "I already know, hun. you hacked the press card reader. I've told you not to do that, especially after you reprogrammed Herbie's AI." 'But it was funny!' "I do know where you got that language from young lady."

It's then Sue leans over and starts typing one long word on Lois display. "That's what she programmed Herbie to say."

The word says 'FUKFUKFUKFUKFUKFUKFUKFUKFUKFUKFUKFUKFUK'

Lois Lane has posed:
"A tommy gun?" Lois says, a note of incredulousness easily heard within her voice. When Valeria giggles, Lois can't help the smile to the young girl. Then it's back to the matter at hand. "I'll have to see if we can get a statement from the police. Toss it in tomorrow's edition -"

Tommy Guns. That just causes Lois to shake her head slightly.

Of course, when mother and daughter have their own little conversation, Lois will idly watch. And while her eyebrows raise at the mention of hacking the card readers, Lois doesn't say anything to interrupt, not until Sue types out that string of letters. Turning her gaze to read what was just typed, Lois can't quite stop her expression morphing into something highly amused. She even laughs out loud too. "I /see/." Looking from mother to daughter, Lois continues with, "That really isn't the nicest of words." It really isn't. Still looking and sounding amused, Lois will ask, "Beyond the cops and Tommy Gun's, Sue, what else has been going on in your world?"

Invisible Woman has posed:
"KITTY CATS!" Says Valeria and Sue nods. "Mmhmm. I went to see what that structure was that was being built up north. Ben insisted he come along and we ran into the.....Thundercats. They seemed to think ben was a rock monster. Which is sorta true, but I had to defend him. I ended up getting a tour of the 'Cat's Lair'....which is fitting for them. But other than that....I finally get Reed out of the lab." She then shakes her head. "And Johnny's off in Paris or something for another stunt show."

Lois Lane has posed:
The mention of kitty cats earns a vaguely puzzled look from Lois, but as Sue explains understanding washes that slight confusion away. "Yes. I actually met one of them a few weeks back. Her name was Cheetara, she helped save a kidnapped baby." Her head will tilt slightly to the side as she considers Sue, "Later you'll have to let me pick your brain for details on their Lair." And then maybe afterwards Lois will see about getting some type of exclusive with the Thundercats.

Her expression turns towards a grin now, at Sue's run-down of just where everyone else is at. "So, fairly normal it sounds like."

Her gaze will glance at the room at large, as she offers, "It's been pretty status quo here, as well."

Invisible Woman has posed:
"yeah, fairly normal for us. Also ran into someone I didn't think I'd run into." Sue says softly before looking at a card. "While out on a date with Reed, I ran into a former co-worker. CLayface...."

Lois Lane has posed:
There's a faint smile at the mention of a date, with Reed, but at the mention of Clayface, Lois' expression turns more serious. "Really." Begins the reporter, even as she picks up a pen that sits near a small notebook. There's quite the amount of scribbles and doodles upon the first page, but Lois doesn't turn it to the next page, not when there's still a free corner open.

"What did he want?" She asks, her gaze sharp, even as she glances towards Valeria; mindful of little ears and what they might hear.

Especially very intelligent little ears.

Invisible Woman has posed:
"She knows about when Karlo and I worked together, before his accident. I was an actress before, as was Clayface." Sue smiles. "he just wanted to get a bit more of the limelight. Sadly, he got himself too far into debt." She then sighs. "And well....You saw what happened. Reed volunteered to try and help him."

Lois Lane has posed:
"Don't we all want a bit more limelight." Murmurs Lois with a touch of sardonic humor to her voice, "It's what drives the majority of us; to be noticed, acknowledged for what we've done." Lois will wave a hand slightly at those words of hers, before she brings the end of the pen up to tap against her lip.

"Yes, I think we've all seen what happened with him there." Meaning his morphing into a monster, a clay monster, with creepy powers. "Do you think Reed will be able to help him?" And then she frowns slightly, "Do you think he really wants the help?" Yes, Lois has a very suspicious mind, it's what makes her such a great reporter. She oftentimes sees things others don't, or choose to ignore.

Invisible Woman has posed:
"Of course he will. he's figured out things more complex than that. But, honestly...some either don't want, or need the help. Ben...." Sue sighs a bit. "Reed found out that, the only way Ben could change back to 'normal'....is if the radiation was taken out of Ben. So he gave Ben a choice.....return to normal, and be unable to help people the way he had been......or remain the way he is now.....and be able to do so much to assist people as he is....and sometimes scare children with his appearance. Ben chose to remain the 'Thing'. So....every now and then, I try to remind Ben how much I appreciate his decision...."

Lois Lane has posed:
Lois listens to what Sue has to say and the reporter offers a nod of agreement with the other woman's words. "There are those that don't want help. Or, are too proud to accept that help." And why no, Lois has no idea what she's talking about there. Don't mind the faint smile that quirks her lips upward with those last words of hers, before her expression returns to something more serious.

"It's up to Ben to decide what he wants to do, and if he decided to stay the 'Thing', then that's what he wants. It's not like he couldn't change his mind if he found something to change for." Lois ends with, her tone slightly more gentler than what she usually speaks with.

Invisible Woman has posed:
"Mmhmm. So you make him know that you appreciate what he does. And he does have something to change for...if he wanted to retire. Alicia Masters. She still loves him......bless her big heart." Sue then grins. "And Valeria likes Alicia too....even her paintings."

Lois Lane has posed:
"And does he realize she still loves him?" Lois asks shrewdly, "Or is it something he doesn't think about?"

A look will be turned to Valeria again and with a flash of a grin, Lois will add, "I find children often see and speak the truth; even if it's not necessarily what we want to hear. Their opinions are always worth listening to."

Though Lois herself isn't necessarily a woman who deals well with all children; or rather babies. Babies just scare her. Not that she'll ever admit that outloud.

Invisible Woman has posed:
"he does. She's been kidnapped a couple of times before, and when she was, Ben went off the deep end. Not that Johnny didn't when he found out Alicia was a Skrull." Sue snerks at that. "That....was a headache in itself....."

Lois Lane has posed:
"And I thought /my/ life was complicated." Lois remarks with good-natured amusement, "Yours is so much more." The pen she was idly tapping against her lip will be tossed back to her desk, as she looks between Sue and her daughter. "Why don't we all grab a bite to eat?" Lois says, even as she rises upward, "There's a nice little place on the first floor that sells great coffee and pastries too."

She'll wait for agreement from both Sue and her daughter before moving, and in-between that she'll offer another question, "I'm sure you saw that business with Adrien Agreste and the coma patients." Which Lois was part of, which was in the newspaper, "If I send some test results from several of the victims over do you think Reed would take a look at them and give his professional opinion on what possibly knocked us all out?"

Invisible Woman has posed:
"Sure. I think Reed would take that as a challenge to tackle." Sue says as Valeria bounces out of her lap. "Weren't you one of the victims, Lois?" Valeria seems happy enough to run on ahead. "stay where I can see you, Valeria." She says as the child runs back and forth.

Lois Lane has posed:
"I was." Lois will say, her tone a little reluctant to admit that, "But the doctor's gave me a clean bill of health." Which Perry wanted before he /ever/ let her back on the floor. "They just can't figure out what caused the coma."

Oh there are theories and all of that, but Lois isn't too keen on theories.

"I'll send over what I have tomorrow to you both. Any insight would be appreciated, even if the answers might seem crazy. I'm used to dealing with crazy now."

Then it's to the elevators and the first floor, for the little cart that sells coffee and pastries. There's already a line four people deep.

Invisible Woman has posed:
"I'm not even going to hazard a guess. Reed's the brains." Sue says as they get to the elevator, then the cart. Sue orders a coffee, but the little one gets a danish. This is agreed upon with a 'yay!' from Valeria. "Everyone's life is as complicated as you make it. Just enjoy what you can."

Lois Lane has posed:
"Ha." Is Lois' first response to what Sue has to say about who the brains are, "Pretty sure you wear the pants." Is Lois' next words, a grin flashed at the other woman.

Her own order will be a coffee, the temptation of pastries ignored with massive effort.

Even as the two speak, Lois will glance at her watch, "In about fifteen I'll need to head back up to finish that story before deadline, but you know -" The reporter says, as she looks to Sue, "- We should do this more often. I don't know about you, but there are times I don't get out of the Planet enough."

Which is Lois' way of saying she had fun with this 'girl chat', as it were.

Invisible Woman has posed:
Sue smiles a bit. "Come by Four Freedoms Plaza when you're in New York, Lois. I'm sure you won't mind....watching Valeria reprogram Herbie." And she eyerolls. "Or play video games with Franklin. But we also have a few cooks there. Mostly for Ben. That guy would eat a train if it was edible." She then shakes her head. "Just....be ready for explosions. Either from Johnny, Ben chasing Johnny, or Reed. Guess why. Who knows...Maybe Alicia or Jennifer will be there and we can have a girl's day."

Lois Lane has posed:
"I'm always prepared for the fireworks." Whether they're literal ones, or meta-type battles, Lois is there. "And that'd be nice." She adds, when Sue mentions a girl's day out. "I'd like that. The same for you when you're in my neck of the woods."

"Tell Reed and everyone I said hello and that he'll be receiving some files soon. You and Valeria take care, okay? I'm sure we'll chat later."

And with a quick wave of her hand, Lois will trot back to the elevators, to finish the pesky article that's waiting upon her computer.
