Some things never change
Date of Scene: 02 October 2019
Location: Upper East Side, Manhattan
Synopsis: June and Drake run into each other after Drake returns to NYC.
Cast of Characters: June Connor, Slipstream

June Connor has posed:
Park side of the upper east side is close enough to the water within that the air can carry the scent. Scents can cover a variety of things. Like drugs, refuse, or blood. It doesn't cover the sounds of gunshots, though. Which is what just rang out a few moments ago in the space that lies 5th street and the Ancient Playground.

"Fucker you are gonna get us BOTH killed," June cusses as she joins a man in a sprint across the avenue, causing cars to screech to a halt to avoid hitting them. They both vault over the iron gate fence, but he gets caught on the tip of one of them as they enter the playground. His shirt hangs on it, a gun in his right fist. "Dani, I'm caught," he calls out, causing June to stop in her tracks, looking back at him. She wears a pair of shredded jeggings and tight fitting tank top with My Chemical Romance plastered on it. She runs back to him, pulling a kunai from the inside of her hip, and slashing the shirt free. Of course it is hardly good as a garment after this, and the man leaves it behind. He's pretty well built, and the number of tattoos that cover his arms, chest, and back says the man with the beard and shaved head isn't afraid of a little pain.

Slipstream has posed:
Out on 'patrol' is Slipstream, who is getting back on his feet now that he's home from College, complete with his degree in video game design. He's taken a sabbatical from the Avengers, though he hasn't dropped word yet back to Mister Stark that he's returned. Maybe he just wants to get his feet wet again, a bit of working out before knocking on the door of his former team.

It's the sound of gunshots that cause him concern as he rises upwards from the top of the roof he is stationed on, peering through a pair of night vision binoculars as he tracks the familiar sight of June and some new guy with her. His lips crease into a bit of a frown, followed by a sigh before he tilts his head to see the direction they are coming from and if anyone is giving them chase.

June Connor has posed:
"Hey, we can't all be some crazy acrobat," the man contests as June berates him.
"Whatever, just shut up and get moving," June responds, grabbing the shirt off the post and wadding it up to cast it under one of the pieces of playground equipment. "Once they find out you shot a cop you are gonna have more than the Foot to worry about." She shoves him roughly, to continue on along the playground, glancing over her shoulder. However, so far, nobody has shown up to chase them.

Slipstream has posed:
Letting out a sigh, Drake tucks the binoculars on to his belt, then takes a running leap off the roof. There's a series of blue streaked blinks before he hits the ground, then zips along the street in pursuit as he pushes himself through the speed vortex. As he zips past them, he turns and comes to a stop, appearing in a burst of blue as he folds his arms over his chest. He's wearing a pair of black jeans, a solid black shirt and a leather Overwatch jacket with the insignia in bright silver on the back.

"Hey June." He says, trying to sound confident and not at all an emotional roller coaster at seeing his ex-girlfriend again. "Who you running from?" His eyes move towards the tatted up man, squinting his eyes at her. "New friend?"

June Connor has posed:
"Look out!" the man yells as the hero appears before them. He raises the gun, only for June to slap her hand over it and flip the safety on. "No!" June barks.
"What the fuck, Dani?" the man asks. "You think he wants to sit here and talk?"
"Gunter stuff your shit," June answers, not giving any kind of solid explanation. She looks back to Drake, pulling a lock of yellow and red mixed hair from her face. "Hey Drake," she answers, slightly out of breath from her recent sprint. She puts her hands on her hips. "This is Gunter," she says with a sideways tilt of her head to indicate the shirtless man. "Somethin' like that. You're lookin' good. Whaddaya want?"

Slipstream has posed:
Flinching as the gun is pulled upwards, Drake throws his hands up and curls them into fists. "What kinda name is Gunter? Sounds like something you'd name your German Shepard." He grunts out. "I heard gunshots and you two hauling ass across the city. I'm pretty sure if I turn my police scanner on it will give me the whole story. I thought you were going to stay in Gotham." He says with a frown, still rocking back and forth on his feet. "What's going on? What kinda trouble did you just get into?"

June Connor has posed:
"Yeah, because cops always have the full story," June snidely responds. "I am in Gotham, just had some stuff that called me over here."

When asked about what's going on, Gunter speaks up, "That's none of your fu-"

"Shut up Gunter!" June answers, obviously having not lost her aggressiveness in the last few months. "Hasn't your mouth gotten you in enough trouble tonight?" She looks back to Drake. "It doesn't matter, he's tryin' to hold out against the Foot, because he's a dumbass, and I'm tryin' to help him because I'm a bigger dumbass. Dunno if you've kept up, but most of the police are just lackeys now."

Slipstream has posed:
"I haven't been keeping up. I just got back from San Francisco. Was doing some personal stuff." Drake says as he lets out a miserable sigh, giving a glance about. Reaching behind him, he taps the robot that is attached to his shoulder strap. "Snowball. Recon mode." There is a happy chirp of acknowledgement as the frosty droid detaches and floats upwards, scanning about the area as she circles overhead.

"I didn't see anyone chasing you after the gunshots went off. Not for a few blocks. Didn't see anything at all. Are you heading back to Gotham then?" He asks as he folds his arms over his chest. "I was hoping that.. you and I could talk later, now that I'm back and maybe work a few things out." He gives a glance go Gunter for a moment, nose scrunching unhappily. "What is he holding that the Foot wants?"

June Connor has posed:
June frowns, looks to Gunter. "His freedom," she says. "A few weeks ago, the Foot announced that they were going to keep the streets clean. Dropped some 14 crime bosses offa buildings in broad daylight. Real world talk, anyone not with them is against them."

"A fuckin' monopoly," Gunter says. "I ain't gonna be bitch to no one." He sounds proud of his decision.

"Yeah, bitch to no one," June says, rolling her eyes where Gunter can't see her face. "Bitch to no one here just shot a cop who thought he'd help enforce the Foot's agenda." She shrugs. "Shitty time to be a crook or a hero in this city." She adjusts uncomfortably, recognizing that she pointedly didn't answer the other part of what Drake said.

Slipstream has posed:
"Okay, I'll let Captain America and Iron Man know about this." Drake says with a loud sigh as he wrinkles his nose up more. "That is if it hasn't hit their radar yet. Right now everyone seems to be focused on this Sentinel issue and the citizens they are targetting." He squints his eyes at Gunter, then sighs as he looks back to June. "He shot a cop." He says dourly. "Great." He rubs a hand along his face. "Do you need me to get him out of the city then or something?"

As Snowball circles around overhead, her eyes give a few flickers as she scans the buildings, alleys and roof tops. Since being targetted by The Foot, he's had to ensure her protocols have been upgraded to 'defense' and 'recon'. He taps the small device in his ear that communicates with his robotic sidekick.

As his gaze settles back to June, he sighs again as he watches her shift about. "We're gonna talk." He says rather firmly.

June Connor has posed:
June huffs, "Not what you think," she defends. "And if you help, you could get tagged as part of the gig, Just gotta get him upstate where nobody gives a damn about any of this. If he's out of the picture, the Shredder won't chase him." She looks back at Gunter. "Though the cops will still hunt you down." She shakes her head. "Dipshit."

"He drew down on me," Gunter defends. "What, you think I'm gonna let him just blow me away?" Which might be a fair defense.

Slipstream has posed:
"So, you don't want my help is what you're saying? That's a song you seem to always have on repeat with me. Except this time I'm finaly gonna skip the track. Good luck, I guess." Drake says as he gives a snap of his fingers to Snowball who gives a 'doot-da-doo!' noise and floats back down towards him, giving him a playful circle.

"I didn't change my number, feel free to use it if you want." He says as he starts back across the street for the alleys as Snowball follows after him, lighting the path with her high-beam eyes. "Though I'm sure you won't, as usual." He grunts out.

June Connor has posed:
"Yeah, Drake, I'm sayin' I don't want you getting your shit wrecked if you get seen helping someone who just shot a cop." She announces a little too loudly for comfort given the circumstances. "See, that passive aggressive bullshit still doesn't work on me," she comments as he starts to walk away.

Gunter looks between June and Drake, a little baffled, and waves his free hand at both of them. "Okay, I ain't gonna play referee here, but we realize that cops will be on the site in like, seconds, right? So if we could leave the soap opera for later, that'd be great."

Slipstream has posed:
"Yup, good talk." Drake says as he hops upwards to grab the bottom of a fire escape, tugging it down, then starts up it rung by rung. "Your new boyfriend is a total upgrade by the way! Congratulations!" Snowball gives a withering chirping 'sigh' as she follows him up towards the roof.
