Synopsis: Danny and Colleen watch Shogun
Cast of Characters: Iron Fist, Colleen Wing

Iron Fist has posed:
Danny Rand's favourite colours were green and gold, so it came as little surprise that those were the order of the day. He ran left along the path, then made a right hand turn, passing a tree, before turning left again. Drawing his boomerang, he hurled it at a green armoured man, but overshot his target, and so had to weave until the boomerang, as if by magic, returned to his new position. Continuing to run after getting slashed, he was chased until he went around a small plateau, where he lifted a slab of stone. It took quite a bit of efforts, grunting and sweating until he could lift and hurl it, smashing into a dozen or so pieces?

At least that's what Link was doing on the exceedingly large television screen, as Danny was playing the Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past, an old SNES came on the latest Nintendo console. The classics never died. He was sat on the couch, using the controller, tongue hanging out a little in concentration, as he wore black sweat pants and a grey t-shirt, but no socks or shoes. His feet were barefoot, as was his habit.

Colleen Wing has posed:
There is the soft sound of footsteps approaching from the other room. Colleen was over for a visit. She was dressed down at the moment in a pair of sweatpants and a white tank top. Her feet were covered in a pair of gray socks that matched the pants. In her hands were two bottles of water, still capped, and a large bowl. The smell of the precedes her into the room.

She darts across the hardwood floor then stops suddenly and slides about five feet in her socks, a la Risky Business. Then she giggles and hops over the back of the couch to sit next to him, tucking her feet up on the seat under her and setting the things she carried down on the coffee table.

"What do you see in this game? It's so old."

Iron Fist has posed:
And with Colleen's arrival, the game is paused. He saves his place, "it's only eight years older than I am," he says in a tone that suggests that's a defence, even if his words were ill chosen. He manages to back it up by saying, "The Princess Bride, Die Hard, and Back to the Future are all older than it." He points to a celadon vase, "that's Liao dynasty," which meant it was somewhere between nine and eleven hundred years old, before reaching into the bowl, and taking a handful of popcorn. "This, is only minutes old. And you are twenty-seven. Age is just a number. It has no bearing on greatness."

Colleen Wing has posed:
Colleen cradles the bowl on her lap then offers him one of the bottles of water. With popcorn, they are going to need it. She looks to the paused character on the screen, taking in the old graphics style and shaking her head. "With computer games, I think newer is better."

Hopefully he won't have a heart attack or dump her after this revelation.

"More realistic, more detailed." She gives a little shrug. "I don't understand the whole nostalgia thing although the companies are certainly making a killing on it."

Iron Fist has posed:
Accepting the bottle of water, he said thank you. Danny was an odd duck. Most people said thank you off the cuff, as if it were the most ordinary thing in the world. The same way someone would say excuse me while passing by, or thanks if someone held a door. Like a cashier saying have a nice day. But when Danny said these things, he made eye contact, and there was something about his voice. He was sincere. He was sincerely grateful for her bringing the water, and it showed in the tone of his voice, and the body language he conveyed.

"I like the newer ones too. I just think, with the simple, colourful designs, that they made these timeless, like Disney or Looney Tunes cartoons." After eating his popcorn, he opened the bottle and took a swig, getting rid of the saltiness. He then brought his hands together, seemingly keeping them together and motionless, but was gently rubbing his hands to generate friction and dislodge the salt or crumbs, cleaning his hands, after a fashion. One of those neat little tricks of being the Iron Fist, and yet, he just looked like he was praying.

His hands now clean, he reached for the remotes, changing the source and sound to be a streaming service, "what are you in the mood for? Amazon Prime, Disney+, or Netflix?"

Colleen Wing has posed:
"I think Amazon Prime just added a whole bunch of those old samurai movies. If that isn't too cliche to watch," Colleen suggests as she shifts positions. She moves to a tailor style, legs crossed, settling the bowl in the circle of her legs so it was easier to balance.

That allowed her to lean over to the coffee table, without toppling the bowl, to pick up her water. She broke the seal on the cap and took a long draw before setting it back down. The cap was tossed down on the table, bouncing twice with a little plastic clatter noise.

Iron Fist has posed:
It was a relatively simple procedure to activate the Amazon Prime application on the television, and then do a search for 'samurai'. A few options showed up, but one in particular caught Danny's eye, "ooh, Shogun. I've heard good things about that, but never seen it." And then he noticed the duration, "547 minutes. That'll take a few viewings. Do you want to give it a try?"

On the screen, it showed a white guy, brown hair, thick beard, dressed as a samurai, hand on the guard of one of his swords, a Japanese woman behind him on his right, and a European sailing ship on the left. The description went as such, "From best-selling author James Clavell (King Rat, Noble House) comes the sweeping award-winning story of love and war, set against the spectacular background of feudal Japan at the beginning of the 17th century. Richard Chamberlain (TV's "Dr. Kildare," "The Thorn Birds") stars as John Blackthorne, an English navigator shipwrecked off the coast of Japan."

"Rescued, he becomes an eyewitness to a deadly struggle involving Toranaga (Toshiro Mifune, Rashomon), a feuding warlord intent on becoming Shogun - the supreme military dictator. At the same time, Blackthorne is irresistibly drawn into the turmoil and finds himself vying to become the first-ever gaijin (foreigner) to be made a Samurai."

Colleen Wing has posed:
"I was thinking more something from Japan but I suppose that'll work. We'll try it and if I hate it, you can watch the rest without me," Colleen offers helpfully. Cause if he likes it, he will watch the rest of it. Possibly in one sitting. He gets a little focused sometimes.

She does shift again, this time putting her back right against Danny's side. Seems he will be her sort-of pillow. If he puts his arm around her as she is seemingly hinting for him to do, his shoulder will become that pillow.

Iron Fist has posed:
Danny was new to all this. In K'un-Lun, he trained... almost exclusively. Dating wasn't really an option for someone who wanted to become the Iron Fist. So he often took Colleen's lead in such matters. He did raise his arm, offering more of his body as a pillow, before resting it around her, "that sounds like a good idea." And she was right. Danny had incredible focus when he wanted to. Part of his training. But Shogun, the narrative, in many ways, it mirrored his own path. He idly stroked her body as the mini series began to play. It introduced all the major characters, with a fluctuating soundtrack, definitely inspired by Japan, but uplifting at points, and sombre at others.
