Seriously Shannon, We May Need To Move Your Stuff In Here
Date of Scene: 04 October 2019
Location: Medical Lab - X-Men Base
Synopsis: Shannon is visited by Kitty and Emma in Med Bay, while Megan and Andrea stop in for treatment.
Cast of Characters: Nightingale, Shadowcat, Emma Frost, Pixie, Rage

Nightingale has posed:
When the call to duty went out, Shannon was not one to refuse. How could she say no to Hank? He knew her gifts as well as any of the staff here, and would not have called unless the need was great. This time was a bit of a doozy, though. There were bandages all up her left arm, evidence of bandages in other areas that indicated possible cuts elsewhere, and... she had an IV in her good right arm, suggesting a transfusion might have been necessary, possibly strong pain medicine. Internal wounds, perhaps? Her eyes were open, but her pallor lent her skin a hue just a shade or two darker than the sheets beneath her. She's in the universal fashion statement of hospitals everywhere, with a sheet up over her legs and midriff to keep her modest.

Shadowcat has posed:
The door open and Kitty Pryde comes inside. She has a helium balloon that she's painted purple and added little legs, a tail, and a dragon head to. Like a big fat Lockheed that bobs on the end of a string. "Hey Shannon? You feeling up to a visitor?" she asks. Kitty glances up at the balloon. "I figured Lockheed couldn't come keep you company the whole time, so maybe this would be the next best thing," she says of the doctored balloon.

Kitty comes in further, moving over to take a look at the electronic version of Shannon's chart. Kitty gives a little shake of her head as she murmurs to herself, "There's something sad at how versed I've gotten in reading these."

Nightingale has posed:
Shannon cracks a lopsided smile and chuckles a little bit. "That's precious," she murmurs. "Wish the world would stop spinning, though. And Lockheed's yours. That's as it should be." She rolls her eyes at Kitty's remark about becoming well-versed in reading medical charts, a light laugh escaping her. "But good, too. Means I'm in good hands. If you see Logan... tell him I'm sorry I can't make class tonight? Tell him what happened? And... break it to Bean gently."

Shadowcat has posed:
Kitty says, "Everyone else will be fine, just you focus on getting better." Kitty looks back from the display. "Did you take on this much intentionally? Or did you draw in more than intended? This seems like a lot," the brunette says quietly, her expression one touched with concern.

Kitty moves over and ties the string of the Lockheed helium balloon to the bed where Shannon can get at it easily if she wishes. "Who was it that you healed?" she asks. There's a good chance she'd have read the information on the charts. But hearing it from a person can be good too.

Nightingale has posed:
"You saw the broadcasts about the woman in Queensland Park? The one who protected four mutant kids? It was her." Shannon just remains quiet for a few minutes, closing her eyes and thinking back over earlier that afternoon. "It was after classes. I was playing some music in my dorm. Thinking a lot of Bean." There's a hint of color to her cheeks at that--just a bit. "Mr. McCoy sent me a message, said he needed help. I wasn't gonna say no. 'specially when I found out who it was." She's having to pause and think, force her mind to work a bit more than usual. "It's hard to stop, once it starts. Told her if it got too intense, tell Mr. McCoy, he could pull me away. Don't know if I got it all... is she okay?"

Shadowcat has posed:
"I'm not sure, I haven't had a chance to talk to Hank about it," Kitty says. She looks Shannon over. "Given the state you're in, I kind of hope you didn't get it all. I mean, it's one thing to help a person past the worst. But there needs to be some balance," Kitty says.

She slides a chair over. "We don't want you laid up in a hospital bed every time you help someone. But, I don't know, maybe it was stopped at an appropriate spot. I don't know, I'm just wanting to make sure you know, you don't need to take every last bit of an injury on yourself. Other people's bodies heal too. And you need time for classes, and... boys. And all the rest," Kitty says, grinning.

Nightingale has posed:
"It's gotten better, stopping it before it starts. Once it starts... it's hard to stop. I was training with Josh, we were wondering about that, too. But he hasn't been back in a long time. I don't know who to ask." Oh yeah, Shannon's face definitely goes pink, and there's something of a smile. Boys, indeed. "Bean wouldn't let me help him. Maybe just as well. And I wasn't sure if I could stop it. So, really glad someone was there." She can't wipe the smile from her face, the corners of her eyes crinkling even though she closes them. "Classes, I keep up. Boys... ummm, no problem there." Oh, my.

Shadowcat has posed:
Kitty leans back in the chair, crossing her arms. "Well, you've spent a fair amount of time in here, between the Sentinels, and then Loki's deceit, and now this. Maybe give it some time after this, ok? You're still learning what your power can do. It's literally putting your health on the line, so best to move forward carefully.'

Kitty smiles and gently pats Shannon's arm. "We've only got one of you, and we're rather fond of her. So no hurting yourself too much." Kitty leans back again. "How had everything been going, apart from this?"

Nightingale has posed:
Loki. There was a name she wasn't so sure she'd want to hear again. Shannon grimaces a little bit, and lets out a small sigh. "Worst part is, I can't entirely hate him. And I'm still annoyed about the pendant. And if y'all would stop getting hurt... but you're worth it."

She smiles a little bit, with the change to more pleasant topics. How to think of the past week or so? "Mostly good. I don't think things are going to work with Mason. Should be sad about it, but I'm not. He's still a good friend. But I don't know if or when he'll be back. Don't want to do a Dear John. That's rude." She purses her lips, thinking for a little while. "He's nice. Talented. Funny. But really distant. Not willing to stay when the going gets tough. But the life he has, I kind of get it. He's in the public eye, he can't do the stuff I do, or some of the rest of us do." There's a light little tap-tap-whump as she bats at the doctored purple balloon, her expression lightening. "It's okay though. I'd rather know now. And... I'm pretty sure Bean's got a crush. So do I."

Shadowcat has posed:
Kitty Pryde glances up at the helium balloon she brought Shannon. Painted purple and with little legs, tail, wings and head added, it's like a fat, bobbing version of the original. "Annoyed about the pendant?" Kitty asks curiously. "In what sense? Rahne should have never brought that to you, unfortunately. I'm surprised at her judgment in the matter. It put you at risk, potentially the school," Kitty says, shaking her head. "I've gotten a run down on what he's been up to, enough I imagine we can guess how he got his wounds to some degree. Sounds like he pretty much bent our entire planet over, stealing magic from it," Kitty says with a sharp frown.

Kitty says, "Well, I know how it is. Just, remember, you're 16 and... there's a lot of life ahead of you. No need to rush towards, you know. Decisions," she says.

Nightingale has posed:
Shannon nods a little bit, not any too keen on moving her head around to any great degree just yet. "It was a gift in good faith. At least that... that... doctor...." Her voice actually grows rather tense, bearing no small amount of venom with each word. "...didn't even -try- to find out more about it. If I ever see something like that again, I'm bringing it to Jean and Scott first. At least they'd try, and they wouldn't be jerks about it." She snorts a little bit, a semi-derisive sort of sound. "Never thought I'd agree with Loki on anything. But the guy's a jac... a jerk. No wonder he wanted nothing to do with him."

With the shift in subject, comes a more pleasant shift in her expression, her wings fluttering just a little bit. "I know. But I don't want my heart breaking every day, either. I don't need that kind of poison."

Shadowcat has posed:
Kitty's eyebrow goes up. "Stephen is a jerk, yes. But he absolutely made the right call. Shannon, this is the guy who invaded New York trying to enslave humanity. Hundreds or thousands of people died, including a lot of innocent New Yorkers just going about their lives. He got hurt by raping our planet of its magical energy. And he got you to take on his pain while he rid himself of the toxic goo that resulted from that theft, and left it here where it could have harmed any number of students," she tells Shannon.

"I realize helping someone is satisfying, it makes me want to see people in a positive light. But he's got a track record literally thousands of years old, and as far as I know there's no reason to give him the benefit of the doubt. I think we're lucky he didn't kidnap you when he left the first time. Dani being there might have been the only thing that prevented it, even," Kitty says. "I think you should be extra cautious. If anyone tries to get you away from the school not in a group, be extra wary. Make sure they are who you think they are."

Kitty looks over to Shannon. "This, is what it is to be an X-man. You are in harm's way because you helped someone. Now you have to be smart about dealing with it. Accepting gifts that are more likely to be a magic trap than not, is not the way to handle it. I would be surprised if Scott or Jean would not have been equally wary. If they didn't smash it, also, it might only be for not knowing whether that might trigger something. Stephen can be a jerk, very much. But I don't think he's wrong here."

Nightingale has posed:
"Maybe he wasn't wrong, but at least he could have been civil. And if I hadn't accepted the gift, there was also the risk of offending the giver. You think I wanted to piss off Loki? If that thing was linked to him, then there could've been a real chance of that. Accepting it and then telling you, Jean, and Scott about it was better than a pissed-off god." She frowns a little bit, rubbing at her eyes with her good right hand. "Wade was here a few days ago. Don't know if he was talking out of his rear end... he was treating the wellness office like a crime scene. And pretty much being a jerk about it. I wanted to wrap my hands around his throat. But he said something that made me wonder. I tried leaving a message for Jean and Scott but don't know if they got it."

She inclines her head slightly, going silent for several long moments. "I haven't left the school much since. Just once, and that was with Andrea. We found a new student. Called in Mr. McCoy to help."

Shadowcat has posed:
"Well, he is a jerk. Wong is much nicer, but I still haven't seen him since they drove Loki out of the Sanctum. I need to go check on him," Kitty says. "Probably just busy with the clean up though. The place looks like it went through quite a battle."

Kitty leans forward. "Wade... oh I can't even call him an acquired taste. Someone to be tolerated? He has his good points, at least," Kitty says diplomatically. What was it that he said though?" Kitty asks.

"I'm glad that you're fitting in thought. It's been nice having you at the school, Shannon. So don't be surprised if we're cautious over this. We don't want anything to happen to you," the young woman tells the student lying on the medical bay's bed.

Nightingale has posed:
"He said something about a... Tesseract? What's that? Is that important or was he just talking out his backside?" Shannon sighs a little, and smiles a bit. "He has his okay moments. But that whole mess... it was too much. I snapped, and I actually went at him. Kurt stopped it." She runs her fingers through her hair, very carefully, "Feel bad about it. Wish I could apologize."

There is silence, with the light ambient humming of various bits and pieces around the lab the only thing to disturb the peace. Closing her eyes, Shannon smiles a little bit more. "It's been... very good being here. Actually making a difference. But there's so much more to learn. And Mr. McCoy's very good. Probably the best. But I don't know who to talk to about my gifts, with Josh not here. I don't want to be in here all the time. But I don't know who to see for help."

Emma Frost has posed:
The medical lab, not the place Emma tends to frequent despite the color scheme being quite choice. This time however Emma is on a mission, as she steps into the medical area and with a pout on her silver painted lips. The White Queen is wearing a simple double breasted coat over her low cut cami and a pair of white pants over a pair of pumps she wears for comfort around the school. "Finding you two has been far more trouble than I figure the conversation will be worth." Emma says with a frown as she enters the room, steps to the side and looks down at her tablet for a moment.

Shadowcat has posed:
Kitty nods slowly as Shannon mentions the Tesseract. "Yes, it's a real thing. And, on that subject, it is definitely not something to be talking about outside of school. In fact, best to not go into it with the other students who weren't involved, even," Kitty says. "I can't tell you what it is, other than a magic artifact. Apparently it's part of what Loki used to drain the Earth's magic from her ley lines. It opens portals I gather," Kitty says. "It's quite likely the source of the blue goop that was poisoning him. And if that pendant was blue? I'd probably drop a sizable bet it was tied to it somehow. And things opening portals are not a good idea to have in the school. Or on your person, if so."

Kitty looks up as Emma comes in. She's gotten better at keeping her expression schooled upon Emma's arrival, though Kitty's gaze hardens just a bit at Emma's comment. "Conversation?" Kitty asks of Emma. Perhaps just wanting to get it over with.

Emma Frost has posed:
Emma begins lying almost immediately, "So, you are the infamous Shannon I presume." Emma says, lowering her tablet at her side and stepping fully into the room and giving a icy glance towards Kitty as she focuses on the student. "I hear you are in need of training on your powers and abilities. I assume this is secondary mutation stuff, as the wings appear to be something you need practice with being basic muscle and bone like any other limb." Emma says making a note on her device before looking at Kitty and frowning. "Miss Pryde is correct Shannon, we are all mutants here, and as such being gathered in a single place is more than dangerous. We have to be mindful of not only outing ourselves in public, but endangering the lives of everyone else in this school." Emma explains with a look to Kitty once more, respectful and less judgemental than Kitty might be used to.

Pixie has posed:
Megan Gwynn groans as she steps into the medlab for some ointment to ease the creaminess in her wings after Kurt's last training session. She is starting to think it would have been better just to have a healer deal with her injuries, although she is just as determined to prove that she is not so delicate either.

Megan mutters softly to herself sad she wanders through the entryway, making a face as she sees Shannon here, along with some others. ?Wow, why is this place always sooo crowded??

Nightingale has posed:
Shannon nods a little. "It was blue, kind of glowed from inside. Got pictures you can see. Making one from blue fimo clay, so I never forget what happened. No magic." She wrinkles her nose slightly. "Who teaches art? I need help with it."

The blonde-haired teen glances over towards the entrance, seeing Emma coming in. Something about her was familiar. She squints a little bit, then smiles a little bit. "I remember you. You were in the Danger Room a couple days ago. You did well." She falls silent, not knowing why Emma would be looking for her; it seemed far more likely she'd intended to find Kitty instead.

Emma Frost has posed:

Emma explains with a look to Kitty once more, respectful and less judgemental than Kitty might be used to.

Rage has posed:
The doors swish open to reveal Andrea who is limping inside a bit with a bloody gash along her hip that is visible from her sports bra and low riding leggings. She doesn't look to be complaining any as she heads for one of the first aid kids to pop it open. Giving a glance towards the others in the room, she trains in on the conversation curiously as she works in unwrapping a number of bandages and taking out some soothing gel.

Shadowcat has posed:
Kitty's frown returns and deepens at the confirmation of her suspicions about the pendant. "Right. So, Doctor Strange may be abrupt. But I would imagine he saw it for what it was immediately then," Kitty tells Shannon. "He's been a friend to the school. I think he did you a boon there, and possibly the whole school."

Kitty looks back to Emma, not saying anything as what Emma is saying sounds responsible enough. She stays silent until Megan and Andrea come in. "Hey, the doctor should be back shortly," she says. "If you need him. You two doing ok?" she asks, glancing over the new arrivals to make sure they don't have anything critical that needs help right away.

Nightingale has posed:
"His bedside manner still stinks." Shannon's terse assessment is left there, and she turns her attention back to Emma. "My wings actually came in second, miss, and they work well. It's the healing that I need the most help with. It can be difficult to control, and there aren't many healers here I can turn to." Her eyes close, and she lets her head tilt back, so it looks more as if she'd be looking at the ceiling. "There's only two I ever even -hinted- at the school to, and they're already known friends of the school to begin with. But I will continue to bear it in mind." Yeah. Her voice may be civil, but she's already starting to not like this one very much, a cool edge to her words.

She hears Andrea come in, cracking her eyes open, and frowning. "Oh stars... what happened??"

Pixie has posed:
Megan Gwynn smiles and waves to Kitty. ?Hii! I?m okay, just a minor scrape. Shannon, you in here again?! What happened this time??? she makes a face, stretching her arms as she goes to work rubbing ointment in her cracked wing tips. Noticing Emma, she bows her head respectfully. ?Umm hello Ms. Frost. How are you today?? she's usually hard on her so Megan is cautious. When Andrea steps in her eyes widen, stepping quickly to her side. ?Heey what happened? You okay?? so much violence lately.

Emma Frost has posed:
"I mean, he is an injured former surgeon, the man is likely quite unlikeable." The White Queen notes as she looks from Shannon and nods once, "Ah, my notes were mistaken then." She says, lifting a finger to her screen and making a few taps about Shannon's file and then looking to the winged girl, Emma cants her head slightly, "None the less, my assessment of wanting to teach you how to best use your mutation stands. There's several factors to consider when using any of our abilities." Emma states with a motion towards Kitty and then a gesture towards Megan, "Miss Gwynn here I have counselled several times. She might be hard headed, but she means well and tries her best. It's why she's one of my favorite students." Emma says, giving a back handed compliment to the pink haired girl. "I'd like to offer assistance to you as well Miss Lance." Emma states and offers. Giving a look to Andrea as well and frowning slightly and shaking her head at the injury but letting others do their jobs is often the best method.

Rage has posed:
"I'm fine. You should see the other guy." Andrea says rather seriously as she takes a seat on a stool, then tugs the front of her pants down so that she can begin cleaning the wound with some alcohol pads, followed by applying the ointment along the cut. Her eyes track their way over to Emma as well, giving her a half smile for her once mentor. "What's going on? Everything okay? It seems kinda busy in here this time of the day."

Shadowcat has posed:
Kitty Pryde nods over to Andrea. "Yes, just came down to check on Shannon. She took the injuries of the woman who helped those mutant kids in the city," Kitty says. She smiles in response to Megan. "Yes, a few scrapes are kind of par for the course most weeks," she says with a soft chuckle.

Kitty looks back to Shannon and Emma. "Shannon, you mentioned that one thing you had issues with was your control. Being able to pull back." Kitty hesitates just a second, and manages to not sigh before saying, "A telepath might be able to help you with that. Help keep you focused, assist you in keeping control until you're doing it fully on your own," she suggests, glancing to Emma to see if Kitty has the right of it there.

Pixie has posed:
Megan Gwynn blinks at Emma. ?Really? I am?!" she blushes at the praise and smiles, not expecting such things from one of the strickter teachers. ?Um thanks, I guess!? she beams, always eager to impress her teachers. "Oh nothing major, just a crazy training session withKurt which I don't think any of us were expected to 'survive ' were it for real.." there she goes with the air quotes again, one of Emma'a pet peeves.

Nightingale has posed:
Shannon offers a wry half-smile to Megan. "Mr. McCoy called for help. I went. Not sure if I got all the injuries, but at least enough to shorten the patient's healing time. What about you, though? Looks like you got hurt." She still looks concerned at Andrea. "And you... what happened?" Her brows furrow, and she nibbles her lower lip. What could have gotten two of her friends hurt enough to be sent down here?

Her gaze returns to Emma, and she seems to consider her words for a moment. "I hope no offense is taken, miss. I'm not certain how much you've been able to hear of recent events. It would be nice to get to know you a little better, but... recent events leave me questioning things much more readily. Even the things that seem familiar. Miss Pryde could probably express it to you better in private than I could."

She pauses for several moments, nibbling on her lower lip a little bit, searching for the right words to express what she was trying to say. Too often, she tripped over her own tongue, in an effort to express herself. "I've also been counseled on the dangers of allowing a telepath into my mind by miss Grey. Hopefully caution in this matter is... understandable?"

Emma Frost has posed:
"Makes sense, but the same should be said of your own powers. Don't be using them on just anyone without proper knowledge. It's good that you want to help people, but you're not a doctor, or even a nurse. You could end up hurting this school and mutants in the long run." Emma states rather calmly and makes another note of her tablet.

Emma looks back to Megan and Andrea and shakes her head, "At least you two are making improvements, but do work on not getting hurt, even in the danger rooms. That's kind of the point of it." Then a look to Kitty and Emma squints and thinks at her in private, <<Do be a bit more cautious with telling other's secrets.>>

Rage has posed:
Lifting her brows upwards, Andrea says with a grin. "Thank you, Miss Frost." She will take a compliment from the White Queen whenever she can. They are few and far between. "And I'm fine, Shannon. I was just sparring with another student, doing some combat drills. I didn't want to cheat and take my war form. I need to be able to defend myself without exposing myself either in the streets and not every situation calls for an eight foot monster." As she applies the bandages and wraps it with tape, she hops up to her feet and tugs her pants back up over her hips. "But I'm not shocked you're back in here, hurt again, because you just had to help people." She teases her friend.

Shadowcat has posed:
Kitty Pryde smiles over to Megan and says, "He knows how to give people a workout, that's for sure." Kitty rises from the chair she'd taken at the side of Shannon's bed, moving over to glance at Andrea's wound. "About the one thing the Danger Room can't protect us against, is each other," she comments.

Kitty doesn't look over to Emma, but does let down her guard and think back to her, <<Was trying to help you, help her, Emm.>> There's a brief thought that flits through her head. Peter Parker standing in front of a building with a sign saying North Deerfield High School, and saying something about trust, but Kitty forces the thought from her head with a complex math problem.

Nightingale has posed:
Shannon sighs softly, closing her eyes. A single tear trickles down her face. "That has to end, though. At least for a little while. Before I hurt this school." Trying to explain her power to Emma would probably be useless. But she was right. Perhaps she could ask Kitty later about a few things. "I'm glad you're both going to be okay." Otherwise, she is silent for the moment, listening to her friends, and resolving to use her gift as little as possible.

Emma Frost has posed:
Emma takes a look at the tablet once more and then steps away from Shannon's bed without a word and then looks over at Andrea and Megan and a simple click of her tongue should be enough for both girls to have vivid flashbacks of her previous lessons where they both had something lacking that Emma had drilled them on over and over and over. And she expects both those reactions even if subtly. But the White Queen doesn't linger and looks to Kitty, "Good work. I'll be up stairs grading." The teacher says before she heads to the door to leave.

Rage has posed:
Straightening up visibly, Andrea gains an apologetic look on her face, as if she just 'screwed up' again in front of the teacher. "Miss Frost, do you think we can speak later? I have a few questions that only a businesswoman as yourself may be able to answer for me. I am going to take on a joint venture in the future and I would like some advice." She gives a long stretch of her body now that she is bandaged up, then bobs her head to Kitty in agreement. "That much is true. But it's the best experience we can have."

Nightingale has posed:
"Miss Frost... I hope you're not upset. It'll be good to know you better." Shannon cursed herself silently. Great. Just great. She'd gone and insulted Emma. Damn, she wished Sam or Bean was there. The thought of the latter did bring a warmth to her heart that softened the scowl that had begun to appear on her face. "Maybe we can talk a little later, Kitty. See if maybe Jean or Scott got that message I told you about? I'll show you that photo, too, sometime soon."

Shadowcat has posed:
Kitty nods to Shannon. "Nothing wrong with healing people. This all all was just a very odd situation, and a lot of care needed. But, we're still a family here," she says with a warm smile.

"Now, I'm going to leave you in helium Lockheed's capable hands. And yes, I'd like to see photo later," Kitty says, speaking of the balloon made to look like the little dragon. "And if you need any dessert snuck down I'll see what I can do. No jello I promise," she says with a grin. "Alright, see you all later," she says before heading out of the medical bay.

Rage has posed:
Perking up a bit for some reason, Andrea offers another smile to Emma, then watches her head out. << Thank you >> She replies back before she looks to the others. "Have a good night, Miss Pryde." She says to Kitty before she pops a sucker into her mouth that she fishes out from the bowl that is left to make people feel good. Mm. Cherry. "I got some homework to do. You going to be stuck down here Shannon or do you need me to bring you anything from down below?"

Pixie has posed:
Megan Gwynn yawns and stretched, apparently tired and distracted as she continues to nurse her wounded wingtips in a corner of the medlab. "I get that danger rooms are supposed to teach us how to use our powers and how to stay alive. Just don't get what we're supposed to do in a seemingly no-win situation..?she flexes her wings, feeling a bit better once ointment is applied. She should give them a rest though. ?You know Shannon, you should give yourself a break, only reserve using your powers for grave injuries. I'm really worried about you sometimes..?

Nightingale has posed:
"Probably my books, so I can study." The younger teen nibbles her lower lip and she frowns. "Jean was pretty clear about the dangers of letting a telepath into your mind. And I just don't know miss Frost at all. The help would be nice... but I'm not sure how far to trust her yet, Andrea." She glances over to Megan, and tries to smile some. "These -were- pretty nasty. You know the woman that was on the news, the one that saved the four mutant children? It was her." There. Let -that- sink in. "Mr. McCoy called for help, and I answered."

Rage has posed:
"I know Miss Frost pretty well, and she's been in my head quite a few times during our telepathic defense courses she used to teach during the formation of the New Mutants. I trust her. She's not the easiest to get along with and a lot of people don't really 'get' her, but she's one of the most successful women in business, ever, and you don't get to the top by being nice. Especially in a man's world." Andrea heads for the door, snagging some extra bandages along the way. "I'm glad you were able to help that lady though. That was super cool."

Pixie has posed:
Megan Gwynn smiles and waves to Emma and Kitty as they leave, before glancing back at Shannon and Andrea. ?Oooh, yeah I heard about that. It's nice to know there are humans out there who don't hate us. That's pretty scary that they're turning on humans now though..?

The thought makes her shiver even as she strains to put ointment on her wings. ?Yannow, Andrea is right, Ms. Frost can be strict but her heart is in the right place. She wouldn?t be an instructor if she couldn?t be trusted to begin with.."

Nightingale has posed:
Shannon sighs a little bit, keeping her eyes closed. "I wish I could explain why it's become difficult for me to trust, but... it's a very sensitive matter, and it was made pretty clear I should keep it to myself as much as possible. Kitty, I already know. Mr. McCoy, no problem. Jean, Scott, no problem. Logan, definitely. Miss Frost? I just don't know her. Wish there was a better way to explain, or some way to tell you how deep things cut, but I can't without telling what happened. And that, I have to keep to myself."

She smiles a little bit, thinking of Winifred, in the hospital in Metropolis. "Yeah, it is nice that there's some out there that don't give a frak if we're different. I wish there were more. But yeah... got to wonder why those Sentinels turned on her. And did they actually turn on her, or was she just caught in the crossfire? Will we ever know?"

Pixie has posed:
Megan Gwynn smiles, stepping towards Shannon, ?Wow, I guess being a healer is a bigger responsibility than I thought. With all the violence we experience in a daily basis and all the expectations on you, especially with grievous wounds...Heey aren't there other healers out there? What-happened to Josh and Triage?"

She seems quite concerned, enough that she forgets her own minor discomforts for the moment. "I guess it's not my place to ask what happened, although I'm terribly curious...? she pauses as if hoping she might spill just a bit.

?But I guess a person has to earn your trust personally right? I guess I can understand that..Even if I'm the type to trust just about everyone..? she laughs a bit at her casualness.

Nightingale has posed:
Shannon frowns slightly at mention of Josh, and sighs. "I haven't seen Josh around in a while. And I really wish Triage could've been with me on this one, it'd have been a lot easier and a lot less painful to deal with. Chances are good I'd be out of here a lot sooner. I'm not sure if trying to explain my gift to miss Frost would do much good. I'm not a biokinetic like Josh is. Or close to Triage's gifts. I don't actively go -into- the body that I know of. To put it bluntly, I'm more like a sponge for wounds. Don't know what she's thinking there. But... yeah, I don't know how to stop it once it's started. Josh was able to teach me how to keep the gift from being triggered inadvertantly, yeah, but once things get going... that's another matter."

To Megan's other question she just shakes her head, very slightly. "I used to trust a lot more easily before.. things. And even after those things, I still want to hope for the best in people, even if I don't trust them. But no... I'm still not really allowed to say what happened. I'm sorry."

Pixie has posed:
Megan Gwynn cringes, "Wow that's gotta be really hard..I'm sorry you have to go through that. I wonder if a telepath might be able to help there..But I assume you already talked to Miss Grey?" she peers curiously at her. "Shannon, do you trust me?"

Nightingale has posed:
Shannon nods a bit. "You, I've had a chance to work with, get to know some. We've been out in the field together, had times here at school together. You've been there almost right from the start, just days after I got here. Andrea, I'm learning to trust the same way. That's actually going fairly well. I wish I could explain things that happened better than... without saying any details, it involved... a deception that struck deep." She sighs softly. "The hardest part is keeping something to myself when I know a friend really does want to help. But this time I can't say." She offers her good right hand and tries to smile some. "It'll just take time for me to trust miss Frost."

Pixie has posed:
Megan Gwynn blinks slowly, perhaps a bit confused about something. "I don"t get it. You trust me but you don"t trust me enough to tell me what's bothering you? What happened to shatter your trust? I don't understand...If I don"t know what happened, I can"t help you, as a teammate, as a friend, as someone you trust..And someone who wants to help.." she pouts a little, feeling somehow saddened by this realization.

Nightingale has posed:
Shannon shakes her head. "It's not about trusting you because I do. I was literally told not to talk about it by staff. It was that dangerous." She sighs softly, closing her eyes. "I do promise, if a day ever does come when it's no longer a danger and I'm told I can talk about it, then I will. But for now, I can't."

Pixie has posed:
Megan Gwynn bites her lip. "Wow really? That's so strange..I wonder why they would want you to keep a secret from everyone else? I mean, isn't that kinda dangerous? What if another student were to find themselves in the same situation as you, but without knowing what they're up against, we wouldn't know how to defend ourselves? That just seems...I dunno..Wrong?!"

Nightingale has posed:
Shannon sighs. "Please... I can't tell. So far, Jean and Scott and Kitty haven't steered me wrong, and word is to keep it under wraps. I don't know for how long." Tears threaten to spill their banks, leaving her eyes a misty mess. "It fucking breaks my heart that I can't tell my friends, if they weren't there. If the day ever comes that I can, then I will. If I was told not to talk about it, it's with good reason. Even if I don't know those reasons. So far, we're all here, we're all still in one piece, and the school is still standing. Please... try to forget about it if you can."

Pixie has posed:
Megan Gwynn bites her lip, feeling torn between the anxiety she is causing Shannon, and the frustration of not understanding why other students aren't allowed to know of a potential threat - or whatever - to the school. "I'm sorry, Shannon.." she draws a deep breath, rising to her feet, stretching her wings, "I guess it's not really your fault, although it's still pretty frustrating. Sorry to have bothered you. Please try and get some rest...Okay?" she looks ready to leave, unless Shannon has anything else to add.

Nightingale has posed:
"Yeah, it -is- frustrating. I'd love nothing better than to be able to vent to you about it." Shannon reaches out to squeeze Megan's hand gently, and sighs. "Right now you probably hate me... feel a bit betrayed... frustrated... and think that I don't trust you. I hope there's something I can do to prove otherwise."

Pixie has posed:
Megan Gwynn smiles faintly at Shannon, wrapping her fingers gently around the grasped hand. "It's okay, really! I guess I'm feeling more frustrated at the people who forced you to take this vow of silence, than at you..I just hope that they lay off on forcing you to heal everyone and everything. That's just bit right and you needs break. I gotta get to class, but I'll check on you again tomorrow, okay? Just..Try and stay out of trouble 'til then, okay..?"

Nightingale has posed:
"Nobody forced me to heal. This is what I do. I may not have learned to trust miss Frost yet, but she is right about one thing. I do need more training, overall. And please... please don't be frustrated at Jean and Scott. They don't deserve it. Hell, they're probably frustrated with the whole mess, too, and are just doing what they can to protect us. You want to be frustrated with something? Save it for the violence that's out there, that even makes healers a necessary thing. And think for a moment. A non-mutant allowed a mutant to help them. That's... actually a really pretty awesome thing. It wasn't forced, it was asked for. This gives me a lot of hope for a day when mutants and normal humans can live together, without the violence." She smiles a bit more and closes her eyes. "Try to think of that. It makes times like this worth it. Hey, maybe I can whoop you at chess or something tomorrow. Pick a game and bring it down, I'll probably be in better shape for it."

Yes, perhaps there was hope for a time of peace between humans and mutants. Perhaps the dream had a chance to live. It had to start somewhere, right?
