Sentinels: FINALE
Date of Scene: 07 October 2019
Location: Renolin Recyling, NJ
Synopsis: The Avengers take on the last of the Sentinels, led by Bastion.
Cast of Characters: Captain America, Hulk, Black Widow (Romanoff), Wasp (van Dyne), Scarlet Witch, Iron Man, Thor
Cast of NPCs: Bastion
Tinyplot: Sentinels

Captain America has posed:
With the collapse of the Renolin recycling plant into flames after the X-Men encountered not only a Mold belonging to the Friends of Humanity but Bastion himself, the news to reach the Avengers meant it was time to move.

Time to suit up, gather weaponry, and tie up boots -- and make way to the Avengers jet.

Tony is not on-site. Rather, the genius-inventor in his Iron Man suit has beaten the group to the plant itself and is currently doing scans over the location. His voice filters into the comms here and there with updates, mostly to the negative as to Bastion himself. The explosion had been //tremendous// and the immediate area of the recycling plant itself is still a smoldering wreckage full of chemical-laden black smoke. It looks like a wasteland. How anyone could have survived is a miracle -- or really foreboding. One of two things.

Steve in his navy-blue stealth suit, spangled star on chest and shield tucked to his back, turns from standing behind Natasha capably at the helm of the jet to eye the rest of the gathered Avengers.

"Tony last reported that Bastion's locator hadn't moved since the explosion. It'd be too easy for him to go down like that, especially after the X-Men reported seeing him interface with the Mold itself before that went down too." His jaw is set, expression intense. "We need to be ready for anything."

Hulk has posed:
For his part, Hulk had actually been in mid-transformation when the Avengers found him. Something about preventing a kidnapping. It had been easy to find him, with Hulk kicking around in the outskirts of the mountains off east. He might even had been at the beginning stages of potentially reverting, until someone had come and told him they'd be going after Sentinels and Bastion.

The Jade Giant had suddenly gotten enraged, and kicked a nearby tree in anger, sending it flying miles towards the mountains, where it splintered, "Hulk been wanting to smash big robots for a while!" His stance dropped into a feral roar, "HULK SMASH THEM ALL!" He roared, before he went along to the Avenjet and got in.

Now, Hulk was standing near the back, hunched over near the back ramp, "Hulk always ready for anything. Hulk will SMASH until nothing is left." Hulk slams his fists together, "Hulk tired of wondering when robots would attack next. Hulk just wants to smash them all."

Black Widow (Romanoff) has posed:
Listening to Cap, Natasha frowns slightly. Bastion had been wanting one of those things for a long time. No good can come of gaining access to a Mold. Like the others, Natasha doesn't believe Bastion is out of the picture. The man was resourceful and powerful. If anyone could have survived, she'd bet it was him. And cockroaches.

She was dressed in her black uniform, the one without the SHIELD patches. Her Glocks were holstered on the outside of each thigh and her wristbands were fully loaded as well. She had a few extra magazines attached to her belt, just to be extra paranoid, or prepared as she liked to think of it.

She keeps her eyes on the exterior and her controls, not wanting any surprises.

Wasp (van Dyne) has posed:
Janet's wings emerge from invisible slits in her bodysuit and buzz once, as if stretching. It gives her a fey appearance, gold bisected plates clinging to her chest and stomach.

She reaches over and pats one of Hulk's mountainous knuckles. "You got it, big guy," she promises Hulk with an affectionate, beaming smile. "Just wait for Cap to say the word, and then do your Hulk thing."

There's a whirring of metal and plastic enshelling Janet's head. She adjusts the oft-hidden helmet that flickers around her face, testing the microstatic filter. "<Testing testing, one two, hellow livestream followers!>" she says, and wiggles fingers at an invisible audience.

Scarlet Witch has posed:
Wanda had been away somewhere, saying just that she needed to clear her head. But she was expecting the contact from JARVIS, and wherever she'd been, it took little time before a swirling cylinder of red light formed and then coalesced into Wanda, already attired in her Scarlet Witch outfit.

She had boarded the jet with a grim look. The mutant had held back from involvement with Sebastion all of this time, save for rescuing Janet after her abduction. The game face that Wanda has on now suggests that restraint is at an end.

"To be clear, we are not taking him back into custody if that is an option, am I correct? We are dealing with the situation once and for all?" she asks of Steve as she takes her seat. Wanda looks to Natasha and Janet, giving them both nods, and Hulk is given an brief grin. "Glad you made it, Hulk," she tells him simply.

Captain America has posed:
"With him attempting to tap into a Mold, I think we're out of peaceful options at this point," comes the reply to Wanda. Steve doesn't seem content to admit it. If anything, he folds his arms across his chest all the tighter. With feet planted wide, he's fully a presence at this point, finally stirred to a committed reaction in matters pertaining to the Sentinels and to Bastion himself.

"We're no longer pulling punches," the Captain continues, nodding towards collection of Avengers in the back. "But yeah, we're waiting on another round of scans from Tony. He said something was hinky about a certain sector of the property. Here's another thing." By the flick of Steve's brows, he's not impressed by what he's about to share.

"Bastion appeared to 'aid' the X-Men on-site initially by causing the Sentinel bots to become dormant -- all except the Mold. Figuring it was a way to distract so he could access the Mold. That being said, his interference with the Mold meant the X-team took it down."

Slowly shaking his head, Steve glances to Natasha and then out the front panels of the jet's windows. "I don't think it's a coincidence...'nd I don't think it's playing nice. I think he got something out of that Mold."

Hulk has posed:
"Thinky robot still a robot. Hulk will smash it. Just tell Hulk where to go." Hulk confirms for Steve, confidently. Then Hulk looks to Janet as his knuckle is patted, and he snorts, "Puny Banner would want to keep the giant robot intact. Hulk says giant robot needs a smashing."

Black Widow (Romanoff) has posed:
"When I infiltrated Trask Industries, that is what Bastion was after. He wanted access to a Mold, despite me working the angles we needed for information," Natasha says to the group behind her, loud enough to be heard but not shouting.

"I didn't trust him then and don't now. It's why the mold he tried to bring to him then exploded." Not on it's own of course. She had been involved. She just left that part out and made it sound like a malfunction. "Just wish the X-Men had taken it down before he got access but hindsight and all that."

Wasp (van Dyne) has posed:
"Ah, thus continuing a long pattern of having a brain like a weasel," Janet observes with a dry humor. "I don't trust him for a second, either. Anything he's doing to be helpful is helping him, first and foremost."

There's an irritated note in her voice. Janet was there when Bastion made his big move. She's a little salty about it.

"I can't do a lot for recon until the heat comes down," Janet warms the other. "The thermal blooms are too intense. I'll fry my wings or get blown skywards. So... limited mobility for me," she says, wryly. "Just FYI."

Scarlet Witch has posed:
Wanda's response to Steve confirming their intent is a grim-faced nod. She pulls her gloves on a little tighter, working her fingers in them as the plane is zooming through the sky. The auburn-haired woman nods over to Natasha and says, "Very difficult for them to fight Sentinels when those nullifier fields are going. They turn us into normal people. I imagine there was not a lot they could do to get to it first," she says.

"Speaking of which I may have the same issue. We know Bastion has a nullifier of his own, and probably more advanced than anything we've faced yet. It is quite possible I could end up without powers. I've prepared a few spells in case that should happen. But I would not be nearly as effective if it comes to that," she warns her teammates.

Captain America has posed:
"You bet, Big Green," the Captain confirms for Hulk. "I have a feeling you'll get your chance." He falls silent to listen to Natasha's report, half-turning in place with brows knitted yet. A deep sigh leaves him to hear of the success against odds.

Internal lights gleam off the silver wing-bars across his chest as Steve paces a few steps, eyes now facing towards the jet's windows yet again. He murmurs to himself, "Small wins that it ended up in shrapnel 'nd not guided elsewhere."

There's some static on the comms. It sounds for a second like Tony's voice attempting to filter through, but it comes across broken like there's sudden weather interference. Steve stops pacing to lift his fingers to his ear, squinting. He adds quickly,

"Janet, you and Wanda make your moves when you can -- anything tries to get beyond the immediate site, you stop 'em any way you can." Steve means beyond the perimeter of the flames, given no one's been able to put them out.

Again, the comms crackle and then it filters through: Tony's reporting Sentinels on approach -- more than ten -- the signal must have gone out before he arrived to summon them -- that can't be accurate --

Did he just say hundreds?!

Steve blinks and then reaches for his helmet. "Nat, engage afterburners, we need to get there NOW."

Expertly piloted in, the Avengers jet arrives with a backwash of air to set the coiling dark smoke to wafting out. Steve in his full gear exits the back of the craft before it's even touched down. "Watch your sixes, they could be coming from any direction!" he shouts even as he tries to clear the immediate area of the jet. "Tony! TONY, REPORT!"

Over the distant rise of trees, here they come: four monstrous Sentinel robots, very aware of the presence of the Avengers.

Hulk has posed:
When he hears the numbers, Hulk... just grins. It's very much like a maniac psychotic 'kid in a candy store' vibe to it.

Then when the ramp opens and he sees the large robots, Hulk drops into a hunched feral position, and roars at the top of his lungs. There are no words... but Hulk does visibly grow to eleven feet as he roars.

Without prompting, he runs out of the Avenjet, hops, bounces once, then launches himself right at the head of the closest giant robot, aiming a punch for one of the eye sockets.

Wasp (van Dyne) has posed:
Janet grabs onto Steve's collar as he goes out the door, shrinking to a doll-sized scale and letting his wake shelter her from the rippling heat coming up off the burning terrain below.

"Oof! It is toasty in here," she complains. Once they're under the heat deck she disengages from Steve and starts zipping across the battlefield. A little glimmer of blue light shields her face from the smoke and the smog lurking around her.

"I confirm four," she remarks into the team communication 'net. Janet casts around, with a twisting dive, and a twisted mass of rebar disappears from view. She twists and dives upwards, barely visible to the naked eye. A second later, two tons of twisted steel fly upwards in an arc over the Sentinel's head height, to come crashing down after it.

Scarlet Witch has posed:
The ramp drops down and Hulk rushes forward, a rush of green rage that Wanda lets pass before she moves to the back of the plane. Her foot never touches the ground, jets of red light about her hands as she zooms off into the air. Not towards the Sentinels, but away from them, moving towards the tall stack of a chimney on the nearby power plant.

Once there she lands on a lattice catwalk around the rim. The Transian woman's arms begin to swirl, gathering in chaos energy into a growing sphere before her. It grows as tall as she is, and then taller, before arcs of red misty lights streak off into the sky in all directions.

The October air is heavy with moisture which draws together and the weather begins changing. The storm clouds that had only a small chance of forming grow rapidly as Wanda manipulates probability. It's like seeing time lapse video of a storm forming, as a storm gathers in dozens of seconds instead of hours. Lightning crackles within the dark clouds that gather overhead, giving soft peals of ominous sounding thunder.

Iron Man has posed:
"//There// you all are. Are you not getting my messages? About the things arrving? Talking to myself for the past three minutes," Tony complains. "No, not counting you, JARVIS."

Tony's visible suddenly to those that look up over the columns of flame, disappearing in and out of the billowing, thick smoke. He's using his tech to search.

"I feel like I mentioned to at least two of you that I have a D.O.P.E. cannon, a weapon special for our pal. That's coming in, I'm going to park it on that parking structure of the power plant. It's going to be important to make sure it doesn't get spotted or destroyed, for reference. Drone babysitting gig: maybe not so fun, but critically important, so: got a volunteer?"

Tony interrupts himself, "Oh hey, I've got motion below, might be our boy. South end, courtyard. I know you can't see anything in the smoke, but that's what I'm picking up. ...Further bulletins as events warrant."

On the south end, six smaller shapes arrive: human sized, flying in low, over the street, subtle.

Captain America has posed:
The Sentinels arrive with no further ado on-site even as the team splits to their respective locations. Steve brings the shield up against the blast of air from the departing jet and then takes to the comms. After all, he's grounded until the Sentinel robots do land as well -- or are brought down to his level.

"Nat, watch your three, one's peeling off for you!" Indeed, there goes the farthest right after the acrobatic airplane, its eyes coming to light up in preparation for a strafing beam.

Hulk gets to appreciate the immediate results of aiming for an eyeball. BZZZZZOOOOMMMM -- the Jade Giant gets the full brunt of it from the secondary Sentinel in the line.

Janet's rebar coming down like a blow from heaven lands and dents the beam itself heavily into a shape nearly fitted to the Sentinel's head. It sets the robot to landing awkwardly on the ground, but not to the ground itself. Slowly, inexorably, the third Sentinel begins to rise again from its valley in the ashy ground.

This leaves the fourth Sentinel to swerve and go after the Avenger's jet as well, the second of the large bogies on Natasha's tail now.

Steve's thrilled to hear from Tony. He's not so thrilled to hear about the arrival of the smaller Sentinels.

"Great," comes the Captain over the comms. "I'm en-route." Given everyone else is taking on one of the bigs, Steve is now on approach to the south end, jogging through the smoke.

Hulk has posed:
Hulk knew it was coming, but he still can't fly.

One day, he might manage to find Doctor Strange and ask for a flying cape... but today is not that day. Instead, Hulk reaches out and grabs for the big head of the robot he just smashed in, getting shot with an eye-beam full to the chest, hurts, but he manages to keep hold of the head.

Then, he moves to stand on the 'shoulder' of the robot he's on, reaches down, and starts to /PULL/ at the head from the neck, trying to pull it straight off to toss it at the one that shot him.

Black Widow (Romanoff) has posed:
Natasha frowns as the Sentinels decide the Quinjet is a good target. Not that she minds. At least that means they not going after Wanda where she is working. The storm brought to being by her teammate should be helpful as well.

The afterburner is kicked in as Natasha takes the craft spinning out of the shot of the first Sentinel. Up she flies, into the cloud cover, using it and hoping she doesn't get hit by lightning in the process. The sensors are letting her know where it is. Thankfully the jet is a bit more agile than the giant machine and she manages to bring the craft around and fires the blasters at the Sentinel that was tracking her. Which is when the strafing shot comes from the second one, striking part of the craft and sending the Jet spiraling toward the ground. She grips the stick, doing her best to pull up as the Quinjet becomes visible falling through the cloud cover toward the ground.

Wasp (van Dyne) has posed:
"I, uh... I got an idea!" Janet declares. She abruptly breaks from the melee and breaks away towards the cannon being delivered, falling into a zipping line. She grits her teeth, buffeted by the crosswinds and intense thermal blooms rocking through the air. Fortuntely her full body suit conceals her skin from the heat surges, though her wings are definitely feeling a little brittle.

There's a flicker of red energies out the corner of her eye; Janet breaks left and lands on Wanda's shoulder, grabbing a few strands of red hair for purchase and bracing against her jacket. "This is doing a number on my wings. I can't even imagine what's happening to my /hair/," Janet complains to Wanda. "Get me to the cannon, I've got an idea that might be a little stupid," she tells Wanda.

"...So how's things?" she asks, more conversationally.

Scarlet Witch has posed:
The clouds roll in and darken precipitously in a way that even Ororo Munroe might have approved of. Wanda may utterly lack the uncanny X-man's control of the storm that she has wrought. But then the odds of three stories worth of flying metal drawing lightning is the kind of probability Wanda can control. A red bolt jets from her hand up to strike the metal Sentinel far above.

The second Sentinel pursues the Quinjet, rocketing after the plane as Natasha's ride disappears into the cloud. The Sentinel just about reaches the cloud when suddenly a blinding bolt hits it, with a peal of thunder that the Avengers are used to hearing even if their resident Thunderer is absent.

The Sentinel's systems overload, its thrusts firing spastically and eyebeams going off, cutting a swath across a road and into a section of fence around the recycling plant. Electricity arcs all along the metal body and then it goes limp and begins a long fall towards the ground beneath.

Wanda nods to her diminutive partner and says, "You got it Janet. Hang on." Wanda propels herself into the air, the pair flying over to the parking structure as the drone-laden cannon comes in for a landing. "Nat, are you ok!?" Wanda calls over comms, seeing the plane come falling out of the cloud cover.

Iron Man has posed:
"We're all in suspense, Janet," Tony assures Janet on comm as she declares she has an idea. "Take your time, Cap. I can do this all day," Tony teases him dryly, moving overhead in a barrel roll, then moving down to the south side of the recycling center to release multiple blasts at the six small targets coming in. An array of small rocket launchers open on the left shoulder of the Iron Man suit, and six tiny little mini rockets flare to life, zipping out to intercept those smaller new arrivals in the south. Tony doesn't have time to see if those strike, though.

From the courtyard comes rather horrifying burst of plasma, forcing Iron Man to dodge, scorched along one thigh. That was a very near death. "Wow, all right, party time," Tony says, his voice rattled as he orients towards the smokey courtyard below. "He's actively blocking my scans now. Cute. Hide and go seek, with death lasers."

The six new targets are moving to try to evade the rockets; only two are successful: by moving behind their friends.

Captain America has posed:
Hulk's Sentinel has a decided structural weakness right where those strong green fingers begin to dig in. Metal screeches and the giant robot reaches up to try and bat away the gamma-powered Avenger. Its blarting commands to stand down begin to short out; luckily enough for Hulk, another blast isn't forthcoming. Yanking hard enough short-circuits some wiring. Now it's merely attempting to swat him away from its face like a pesky mosquito!

The Sentinels chasing Natasha and the Avengers jet remain on her tail at least at first. Lighting strikes not the jet, but one of the Sentinels in a lurid webbing of blue energy; it sets the Sentinel to wobbling in mid-air and as such, an easy target for the jet's guns. Metal already weakened and blackened is punched through and the robot's eyeglow dies. It falls from the sky to crash to the earth in an explosive detonation swiftly followed by its breathren, dealt the blow by Wanda's crimson powers. BOOM BOOM.

Steve flinches and slows in his jog, staring as he sees the jet begin its own smoking descent from the clouds above. "Nat! NAT, PULL UP!!!" It's horrid to watch -- Steve's left standing in plain sight between piles of wreckage momentarily.

Janet's Sentinel is left straggling along and diverts towards Hulk now, reaching for the Green Giant with a glowing hand. Maybe this pesky Avenger will go squish?

The sudden beam of plasma out of the smoke to nearly take out Tony breaks Steve of staring. He immediately dives behind what appears to be part of a blast wall. "I'm not a fan of this version of hide and seek," he quips, wincing. A cautious look around the blast wall attempts to find the remaining smaller Sentinels -- the shield flies the moment he spots one of them.

Hulk has posed:
The swatting gets Hulk's attention, but he simply takes the hits, roaring in exertion as he continues to pull at the head.

Of course, getting hit in the head by a giant hand pisses Hulk off more, so by the time the other Sentinel is coming over to back up the one he's tearing apart, he's twelve feet, and two Sentinels are playing whack-a-mole with his head.

"Wait your turn, Hulk will smash you next!" Hulk growls as he keeps going.

Hulk is definitely getting pummeled, but he isn't asking for help yet... so he's probably fine. "Hulk will smash thinky robot when he's done with THESE!" He roars the last word as he pulls at the head more.

Black Widow (Romanoff) has posed:
"That shot threw a stabilizer offline," comes the calm voice of Natasha. "Rebooting." Even as the Quinjet falls closer and closer to the ground below. At the last second, the jets fire and the craft pulls up sharply, coming to a hover about twenty feet from the ground as smoke is sent swirling away from the downdraft of air and heat. "There we go. All better now."

She considers a moment. "Coming your way, Tony," she calls over the comms, turning the Quinjet that direction. If nothing else, she's a bigger target and can draw fire so Tony can act.

Wasp (van Dyne) has posed:
Janet obligingly surfs along on Wanda's shoulder, knees bent to keep her as low as possible and duck under the windstream in her eldritch wake. "Nat!" Janet shouts, joining the chorus.

"Stop showboating, you're scaring the boys!" she scolds the redheaded spy a second later. Janet's faith in Natasha's piloting skills is unshakeable.

"Tony, if this works, you owe me for a recharge of Pym particles," Janet informs Stark. She lands at the freshly-deployed portable turret, courtesy of Stark Industries, and goes through the process of setting it up. It doesn't need much; it's as close to turnkey as it gets.

But she does set up a few spare Pym enlargement discs, and once they're in place and slaved to her person, all of them activate at once.

Janet grips the aiming mechanisms with a motion made slow by relativity, towering forty feet above the rest of the team. There's an angry noise of dyamos activating inside the machine, and the air crackles with ozone and charged magnetic particles. She depresses the firing button and radiating emissions of yellow-green energy pulse out like the lapping of tidal waves, aiming to catch as many sentinels as possible in the blast radius.

Scarlet Witch has posed:
Wanda drops of Janet at the roof and then zooms off to a corner of the building, looking for threats to the cannon. Spotting nothing coming in, and not knowing what Janet has in mind, Wanda scoops up chunks of concrete into the air on a wave of red energy. She is just looking for how to best deploy them when Janet suddenly is towering overhead.

"Go Janet go!" Wanda yells. She looks back seeing where Janet is pointing the device, and also seeing human sized figures closing on Steve. Wanda whirls, her arms moving intricately and suddenly the flat chunks of concrete dart through the air. Not at the human sized figures so much as passing out front of Steve Rogers, each chunk arrayed a little further out than the last one.

Iron Man has posed:
"Good show, Nat. Never doubted you," Tony answers. Of course she's fine. "Fly low and then reverse pulse at the center: see if you can blast this smoke out for a bit. The chemicals in it are part of the problem," Tony asks of the Quinjet pilot. A jet engine should move plenty of the smoke and debris!

"I've actually never played Hide and go Seek without cheating," Tony observes onto the communicator as Steve complains about it. "And this feels like the opposite. Doing it blindfolded----"

Tony's chatterboxing is interrupted by Janet's enormous blast of energy just below where Tony is, from the extremely, ridiculously sized DOPE gun. SUPERMEGADOPE.

It blasts across the courtyard below them, screaming into an unexpectedly long range. Things unseen in the courtyard light up like strange electric-zotted humanoid figures as they tremble and rattle: the courtyard full of Sentinels, perhaps. It still hard to see, but in theory, they are paralyzed now, by the cannon.

"---You may not have more than about three shots at that size. But holy shit, well done, expert handling of my giant cannon," Tony remarks, impressed, distracted by it. He then begins to promptly rain hell into the courtyard at anything that's lit up, trying to make the most of it.

The two humanoid-sized sentinels that Steve is charging are not in the zone of energy; they were looking at Iron man, and one of them is smashed hard by the shield, ripping off one leg; the thing flies like a broken, confused marionette, unable to stabilize flight, and hits the pavement with its face: POW. The other stays on Tony as a target, flying at him with a short volley of pulses from one hand, but Steve will probably reach it before it does more than that.

Captain America has posed:
The head of the Sentinel finally pops off in Hulk's hands; it begins flailing non-discriminantly now, its arm slamming into its fellow robot's side. The second Sentinel does land another good swat on Hulk, but not strong enough to dislodge him. Instead, its eyes begin glowing brightly in order to try scorching off the clinging Green burr of super-strength.

"Good to hear you, Nat," calls Steve over the comms as he leaps out into proper view to catch his shield as it impossibly ricochets back to his hand. He janks hard to one side as the pieces of concrete begin to rise, but upon recognizing the crimson power crackling around it as belonging to Wanda, he takes quick advantage of it.

Up the gravity-defying stair-set he goes to launch himself bodily at the human-sized Sentinel hunting Tony. He lands on its back and immediately locks his arm around its neck.

"This reminds me of that one time -- back a few years -- 'nd I really don't like it," the Captain notes drily over the comms as he wrestles in mid-air with his flailing target.

Wasp (van Dyne) has posed:
"Steve, Tony's doing innuendo at me again," Janet complains. "Go bully him or something." She checks the charge capacitors on the turret, and her brow furrows behind the oversized blue faceplate. "Oof. I am /feeling/ this heat at this size," Janet mutters. "It's gotta be a hundred and thirty degrees up here." Sweat beads behind her blue-tinted electrostatic visor.

"I think you're right, Tony. One more shot, maybe. I don't think these capacitors are gonna hold."

She checks the labels. "...Ah. LexCorp. Figures," she remarks. "Man, I didn't realize the budget was so tight at SI these days," she adds, with a wry, needling playfullness.

Hulk has posed:
Instead of flinging the head at the Sentinel that shot him previously, Hulk is shot suddenly by an eye beam... and without his hands to grip onto the neck, he's flung at high speed across the way.

Everyone can hear the suddenly disappearing roar of the Hulk as he gets sent flying and a *CRASH* as he loses grip on the head. Probably into the remnants of the factory.

Black Widow (Romanoff) has posed:
"On it," Natasha answers, bringing the Quinjet around as the Janet goes Giant-Size. "Okay, wasn't expecting that." The pulse from the cannon has things lighting up all over the sensors of the Quinjet.

She pilots it over to where the worst of the smoke is, firing the engines hotter and angling the craft to send the smoke billowing away.

While she's at it, she takes a few pop shots if a sparking smaller Sentinel might pass into her line-of-fire while working on air clearing duty.

Scarlet Witch has posed:
Wanda had spied out the chimney stack she used earlier to gather the storm for a reason besides getting her high up to control the weather easier. That extra reason soon makes itself known as a band of red light gathers around the base of the giant smoke stack. It constricts, crushing the towering max of concrete and metal, causing it to tip over.

But it doesn't enjoy its fall to the ground for long. Wanda stands on the corner of the parking structure, groaning with the pain of exertion as her chaos magic gathers about the immense falling smoke stack as she sends it hurtling into the debris of the recycling plant, where the multitude of figures stand sending up sparks after being hit by the D.O.P.E. Cannon. The impact is enough to jar the ground for those still standing on it.

Iron Man has posed:
Natasha's turn of the quinjet, and flare of the engines, makes a mighty jetstream, giving everyone full visibility of the burning, smoking factory grounds. Buildings are shells of themselves, their metal ribs battered. In the main 'courtyard' (blast area, really), are a few dozen large sentinels, recently hit with the paralysis (DOPE!) cannon, shaking in place, and about eight of the smaller ones, all gathered in clear military ranks. They are excellent targets at the moment.

The volley of energy from Captain America's quarry strikes Iron Man: for no obvious effect. Armored Avenger. Captain America's 'ride' peels off to one side, trying to shake the Captain: and also going directly into the center of all of the mess in the courtyard. Steve wanted a ride RIGHT into the middle of hell, didn't he?

Awful attacks rain all around: Tony's still unleashing hell by way of firing downwards will full ordinance on the targets, Wanda has joined in, and Hulk's tearing apart the enormous ones to keep them out of the situation, defending the flank.

"Meanwhile: I've got a gist of the signature of heat before Sebastion unloads that laser, that --- He's firing!" Tony warns. Indeed, a blast of heat is sent, this time for Captain America.

"You know, I've noticed something, guys," Tony comments. "He's targeting us. Us //humans//. Murder-bot. Just saying. Janet, watch it, Steve's in there."

Captain America has posed:
With Hulk having been sent flying off into the remnants of one of the buildings, it leaves one standard Sentinel bot to flail about and blart nonsensical sounds. The other Sentinel, fully engaged and weaponized, turns its attention towards the giant-sized Janet and the D.O.P.E. cannon. A hand upraised begins to glow violently bright directly at her.

Steve goes down with his ride into the chaos of the courtyard below after he lets go of his headlock about its throat. Sebastion's beam incinerates the smaller Sentinel. Steve lands and rolls to bounce off a chunk of concrete before he rises to his feet.

"'m fine!" comes the report in the comms from him. Then, given there's hell to wade into, he wades into it. With a grunt, he throws himself at the nearest paralyzed human-sized Sentinel robot and then begins mowing them down with precise punches, one at a brutal time, fist and shield and boot all weaponized against them.

Thor has posed:
Just then, the sky darkens further, as Wanda's dark clouds become darker still. Dark clouds that just weren't there earlier in the day come in with alarming (or perhaps it's a relief) speed. Thunder starts echoing in the distance, as lightning crashes into the ground. In case that wasn't obvious enough...the next thing seen is a massive blast of white light...though one could swear one sees a rainbow in the middle of it somehow.

The Bifrost.

The white light hasn't even gone away yet when a hammer, crackling with lightning, comes flying out of it, spinning with electricity. It spins, crashing right at lesser sentinels...mansized or 3 stories high, size matters naught to Mjolnir, which will keep going even if they block. The Sentinels Janet paralyzed are attacked first. Mjolnir, of course, spins back to the light, and out steps Thor Odinson.

"That's enough!" Thor leaps high into the air...and comes down right next to Steve, where Mjolnir crackles with lightning and cracks at one of the smaller sentinels that is not paralyzed, with the Odinson's strength behind it.

Hulk has posed:
The building basically collapses around him.... and then, moments later, there's another loud roar, and debris goes flying everywhere as Hulk leaps out of the remnants of the collapse, his expression one of pure rage. As he lands, he takes stock of the situation... then /LEAPS/ directly at the one aiming at Janet in a large Hulk-sized cannonball, right at it's chest.

Knock it down, then tear it apart, is written all over his demeanor when he lands.

Black Widow (Romanoff) has posed:
As the air continues to be cleared away thanks to the flow of air through the engines, Natasha keeps up her firing. Hulk goes flying, sans jet, and she spins the jet around to face the direction he was ejected from.

One of the big Sentinels still there. It's bringing up a hand and she lets out a curse, in Russian, across the comms.

The afterburner blooms and the Quinjet shoots forward even as she sends a few blasts from the weapons systems in the direction of the sentinel. Her intention? Put the Quinjet in the line of that blast instead, keeping Supermegadope Janet and the SUPERMEGADOPE cannon from being hit.

Scarlet Witch has posed:
The Sentinel turns and takes aim at Janet, that tell-tale brightness as it powers up a herald of the intensely powerful laser beam to come. Wanda whirls from the wreckage of the chimney stack dropped onto the human-sized sentinels in the courtyard. She extends both hands outwards like she were pushing on something, and a wall of scintillating scarlet rises up between Janet's giant - yet fashionable! - figure and that of the Sentinel.

It flashes red like a ruby, even down to facets as the wall of protective energy bends backwards slightly around Janet. Wanda grunts with exertion as she puts everything she has into the protective barrier.

Bastion has posed:
The sentinel Steve landed on as he waded into the melee moves suddenly, knocking the hero off balance. From the smoldering, rattled fallen Sentinel rubble, nearly all of them now laid to waste by the combination of heroic attacks, comes Sebastion. Heated, burning liquid stuck to his form creates plumes of choking chemical smoke, searing to human lungs. He hurls the corpse-like metal body of another sentinel off of him with strength not unlike that of a Hulk, and is upon Captain America quickly in a flash of metal tentacles that burst from left arm, to lash angrily across the hero, throwing him bodily into Thor.

The Captain America shield drops with a CLANG of metal onto the face of a fallen Sentinel, and Sebastion moves to kick it, in distain, in the same direction he threw Steve.

Sebastion looks nothing like a human, not anymore; his Sentinel body, slick with otherworldy, shifting metal tech, is eerie.

"You FAIL to make good choices for your species," Bastion says, cold, harsh. "I will make them for you, now."

Wasp (van Dyne) has posed:
"Hey asshole!"

Propulsion jet exhaust intertwines with energy charges and the upthrust pillar of energy from Wanda's powers. All combine in a sunburst explosion that drives away the concealing smoke and smog surrounding the Avengers, and reveals a clear path from Sebastion's angry outbursts towards the giant-sized Avenger and the emitter array of the DOPE cannon she's got levelled squarely at Bastion-- and the surrounding quarter mile of space.

"Get away from my boyfriend!" she fumes, and depresses the firing button. There's a terrific crackling of unbounded energies, then another sizzling blast of ozone and that intense magnetic pull as she unloads the full power of the blast atop Bastion.

The machine overloads rather spectacularly; Janet has the presence of mind to at least shrink it into something smaller and fling it with a vast overhand throw out towards the bay before it goes nuclear. But the backlash still singes her fingers and arm, and she cries out before shrinking down to her own proper stature and taking cover behind a heavy concrete slab.

"I'm ok! I'm ok!" she whimpers immediately, to wave off any approach. "Get to Steve and Bastion!"

Captain America has posed:
As if the larger Sentinel still standing had a chance against the combined efforts of the team. When Natasha pulls the jet around into the path of its aim, the robot momentarily giltches in its attempt to reconfigure for this new target. Her strafing hits precisely where intended; metal dents in places and the arm itself is thrown to one side. The beam //BRRRZZZZOOMMMMMS// shy of the Avenger-jet close enough to momentarily heat external metal on one wing and slams into the ruby-fractal shielding thrown up by the Scarlet Witch. The shield shudders...and holds; even the plasmal energy of the Sentinel bot can't break it.

Then Hulk lands on its chest and the beam swings high up into the sky before ceasing entirely. Down the giant Sentinel goes like prey beneath the Jade Giant, blurting out commands for the Hulk to cease.

Steve, caught off-guard by Sebastion, is a spangled blur after the tentacles slam into him multiple times. Dirt and slagged metal fly up around him as he lands to tumble after bypassing Thor. Coughing, the Captain makes his way to his feet, having lost his helmet in the process. Blood coats his blond hair where a scalp wound begins bleeding. A split lip is nothing new and there's an abrasion sure to bruise heavily across one temple. He gives Sebastion an equally cold look even as he moves to stand beside Thor again.

"You don't get to make those decisions," he growls back. "Because you're //not human//."

Then comes the blast from the D.O.P.E. gun. Steve's shield comes up even as he winces at the light and the explosion to follow.

Hulk has posed:
"No one makes decisions for Hulk. HULK SMASH!" Hulk roars the last two words as Sebastion (probably?) unintentionally pisses off the Hulk even more, who grows to thirteen feet.

Hulk has never liked anyone trying to control him. The Avengers have his friendship because they tend to actually look out for his best interests, unlike most of the planet... and treat him well...

Sebastian has just proven he thinks he knows better. Like Leader.

Moments later, and Hulk leaps away from the Sentinel he seemed to be about to pick up... and instead, Hulk leaps directly at Sebastian, both fists up in perfect position to actually SMASH the droid as he lands.

Iron Man has posed:
"That's /my/ cue, isn't it," Iron Man says into the comm, when Janet makes her remark, dropping out of the sky with a burst of thrusters to land alongside Thor and Captain America. Several adjustments to his suit, rearranging his power, clearly shows Iron Man partially powering down his weapons, and reallocating to his defenses, preparing to absorb, taking up a spot to protect the two Avengers....

Because Janet is firing one hell of a shot at them.

"This shouldn't overload my suit to where it explodes. If so, well. Tell Pepper.... you know what, I'll be fine, I'll tell her---"

Tony's suit takes the brunt of Janet's MEGA DOPE blast that's headed for Thor and Steve, but he offered no protection for Bastion, who is hit fully by it, and an oncoming train of Hulk ....

Thor has posed:
Thor has many things to do. First, "Reflect the lightning" he says, before going in to bring down the Hammer on Bastion. A straight up melee swing, getting in Bastion's face...well, robot face.

Mjolnir, however, crackles with lightning, and the energy blast is quite strong. Between his initial swing, and whatever reflected lightning Steve manages to shove in the correct direction...well, that's more volts than is healthy for any machine. With two blasts, it just might overpower his shields.

Worse for Bastion, Hulk's on the other end, and being pincered between Mjolnir and Hulk is a terrible place to be for just about anything. "In the name of Asgard, you shall speak for none!" Including Bastion himself, because he's about to have a very bad day.

Scarlet Witch has posed:
Wanda Maximoff flies through the air, leaving the power plant behind and landing in the courtyard do the side of the enormous blast. "You are an idea whose time never should have come. Just as you should have never come to this time," the mutant exclaims.

Her eyes glow red with the force of her power that flows through her. An energy greater than she knew she possessed flows through Wanda as she unknowingly confronts the source of unease and dread that his presence in this Reality had caused the Nexus being. She unleashes the wave of chaotic magic at Bastion, adding the flow to the output of the D.O.P.E. Cannon and that of her teammates.

Bastion has posed:
Bastion began to orient on Iron Man's landing, as well as Thor, regarding the three in a manner that Steve, at least, has seen in person before. Sebastion, the 'bastion' to protect humans: always so willing to be helpful, to adjust, to do what is asked of him.

So long as that also fell into what he was going to do anyway.

So willing and peaceful, until Vision got in the way. Vision died, for it. And still the Sentinel proceeded to charm, to work to get his way, so helpful, always.

"Perhaps we can discuss that, it---"

PHWOMMMMMMMMM.

The blast from Janet's cannon streaks across the compound, blinding and far worse than the first cannon shot: the thing overloaded, and arcs of power fling across the courtyard and backwards, as the power plant //behind// the gun takes a jolt as the cannon overloads.

Slammed by it, Bastion fully attempts to soak it, standing his ground, focused, bearing through it, trying to resist the energy to stay mobile, to keep himself from paralysis. And he's doing it.

Until all of the rest of it comes into play. He's flung backwards by the electricity from Thor, plastered flat to his knees by Wanda's magic, and then pummeled directly into a Hulk. With a muffled sound, Bastion's body is crushed, pieces of his frame torn and shattered, the energy soaked in, but not in a way that he can contain. The liquid metal pieces melt off, onto the burning ground, twisted and hardening already.

Iron Man has posed:
"Yeah, that's what we think of your monologue," mutters Tony from the side, off the comm now, collapsing sideways in a tangle of shorted out, burned and paralyzed suit. It was not designed to take SUPERMEGADOPE cannon blasts that are overcharged. Not at all.

Captain America has posed:
Ears are left ringing from the cocophony of impacts landing. Steve rises to his feet, having deflected the full force of the Thunderer's lightning at the cyborg terror. He coughs once and then squints at Hulk.

"Hulk?"

A beat.

"Smash the hell out of him."

The Captain then turns to the crumpled form of Tony, already reaching out over the comms to the medical staff at the mansion. Looks like another gurney's going to get filled, at least for the short term. Steve ignores his own superficial wounds for now.

It'll be later he learns about his fractured collarbone.

Hulk has posed:
Is Hulk going to bash around the remains? You betcha. In fact, with a roar, the way he tosses and smashes around what's left of the body is very familiar to anyone who watched him pummel Loki into the ground in Stark Tower those years ago via the security footage.

If nothing else, it gives a good comparison, especially with the minor earthquakes happening as Hulk tries to pummel the droid into fine metallic paste.

If anything, Hulk seems to be giving Bastion FAR WORSE than he gave Loki, all those years ago.

Thor has posed:
Thor isn't convinced it's dead...he's been on the wrong end of Ultron before, and he's going to make sure that, like Ultron, it doesn't come back. Wielding Mjolnir even still, he reaches out to grab the limbs of the thing and brings down the Hammer. If he can't break limbs right off that way, joints aren't especially likely to be operational after that. After Hulk's done bashing the body around, Thor says, "Hulk, Wishbone him."

By wishbone, Thor traps the body under Mjolnir, which will pin all who are unworthy. And then, grabbing the legs of the bot, and tells Hulk, "Grab the arms..." And when they pull in opposite directions...well, this scene may not be suitable for younger viewers.

Wasp (van Dyne) has posed:
Janet reunites with Wanda since the two women are nearest one another; once she's checked the redhead over for injuries, she offers Wanda a supporting hand (her un-burned one) and starts making the trek over to where the Avengers are watching Hulk break the robot like a deranged toddler smashing his favorite toy to bits.

She moves up to Steve's side and checks him over for any haemhorraging wounds, palms pressing quickly and dispassionately over dark spots on his uniform. Finding nothing that looks like it's going to make him bleed out, Janet ducks under Steve's shield for cover from the flying bits of Bastion and stands on her tiptoes to kiss the point of his jaw. She pointedly ignores the carnage behind her. "Nice moves, soldier. I only have to save your butt the once this time," she informs him with a bright-eyed mischeviousness.

Scarlet Witch has posed:
Wanda Maximoff sinks to her knees. She should be exhausted. And she is. Yet there's a sense of peace that she hasn't known for the longest time. The vague sense of something wrong that has gripped her for months is lifted. Like having that annoying sound you can't locate finally turn off for good. Her fingers reach down, sliding through the dirt and dust, gathering a handful in each hand before letting it drop.

She slowly rises to her feet unsteadily and dusts her hands off. The Transian woman looks over to her teammates. In her softly accented English, Wanda says, "The next mutant-hating robot from the future we encounter? Let's not talk to it so much, yes?" She slides an arm around Janet and the pair move over to the others. "Medical," Wanda says over her comms following Steve's call. "Sending our wounded to you now." It will take her a few minutes though before she's able to call up enough of her magic to teleport anyone anywhere. She pushed her limits today.

Hulk has posed:
Once Hulk gets a semblance of coherent thought back, he looks to Thor as he drops the body. The twelve feet Jade Giant let's go, and goes to the opposite side of the droid. Then, in coordination with Thor, Hulk grabs one of the arms with both hands, and /pulls/.

Captain America has posed:
After being certain Tony's at least stable within his armor, the Captain slowly gets to his feet and intends to trundle over to find where Janet was last hidden. Seeing her on approach makes him sigh out the remaining air in his lungs in relief.

"Thank god -- I'm fine -- Janet, I'm fine -- " It doesn't matter; he gets his once-over before he has to lift the shield against errant pieces of half-slagged cyborg parts. It's grisly despite the proposed lack of humanity and he's glad to turn his attention away from it.

"We'll say you got lucky this time, how about that?" he quips back to the Wasp, smirking despite his busted lip. More loudly, over the comms, he adds,

"Team, regroup. It's time to go home."

Iron Man has posed:
Sorry Steve, Tony's interrupting the excellent firm statement with his chattiness.

"Drinks are on me," Tony comments from the ground in his smoking armor, pulling the helmet off with a press of one hand, and then relaxing, head angling back, listening to the sweet sounds of his team making mincemeat of the enemy.

"Might need a rain check on the shawarma, though." A pause. "Or just bring it to medical. Meet you there."
